Download the ‘Achievement Unlocked’ sound

I posted this some time ago, but when I moved my blog earlier this year, a few things got lost in the shuffle..namely the post that pointed to this file.  So back by popular demand…the sound that has been heard multiple millions of times around the world of as Xbox 360 Gamers run up their Gamerscore: The Achievement Unlocked sound. These audio files were created directly from the master file – so they don’t get any better than this.

Right click and choose ‘Save as’ (or something similar) to save this to your local computer. Grab the flavor that suits you the best (I have posted two versions of the same file.)

I know that you’ll use it for a ring tone, but what are some of the other creative ways do you plan to use this?

    If I still had my radio show I’d probably use it…actually had a radio show called “Achievement Unlocked” on my campus radio station run by a friend of mine. :D

    awesome, so when are you guys going to differentiate between “achievement unlocked” and “your friend just got online” sounds?  I can’t tell you how many disappointments that would solve.

      Especially for people who don’t actively hunt for or look at the achievements on the first playthrough. Recently, every message or invite I get, I’m always like “What did I just unlock in Gears?” but it’s just people wanting to play.

    Hey Major, do you think we’ll ever get a separate sound for notifications?  I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks I got an achievement when hearing that sound, only to find out it’s someone signing online.

    I like how it’s called the “Achievement Unlocked” sound when it’s more than that. The Xbox team really needs a new sound because it’s annoying seeing someone come online when you think it’s an Achievement unlocking.

    I use this sound for Windows Notification Sound.

    *blip* Download/install Windows Updates and other stuff.

    Come to think of it, it should replace the default notification sound on all windows.

    For me, this sound only reminds me of how much time I’ve wasted turning to check my TV, to see if I’m receiving a message, only for it to be another “So and So is Online” popup.

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE – Xbox Live Team: Expand on the Notifications options to choose WHICH notifications some one receives. Separate messages and invites from simple logon popups!!!! Yes, I’m aware you can turn notifications off, but then anything directed at you is missed. I’m amazed after this many years, no one ever thought to address this!

    HEY MAJOR! Love the Mango update for the Windows phone and I love I can finally create my own ringtones for it……but one problem……WE CAN’T CUSTOMIZE OUR ALERT TONES! I used to use this sound file on my old Verizon Juke and my Palm Pre Plus…..PLEASE BRING THIS UP TO THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THE WNDOWS PHONE UPDATES! I’ll email you as well actually, there’s another thing, kinda important, that should be addressed about the Mango update!

    Oh, nvm, had the Quicktime plugin turned on. If anyone else has the same problem, just turn of the Quicktime plugin and then it will download as a normal MP3 file :)

      That is because the sound is less than 1 second in length. Try playing it to see if it works.

    I wish I COULD use it as a ring tone.  Unfortunately, our cell company locks the phone from using sounds files that aren’t licensed/purchased/whatever
