320 GB for real? That’s so 2009, I would expected you guy’s to come with a 1TB drive by now!

Come on, M$. LAME. $130 should get me 2TB, plus i dont have a Slim yet! BOOOO

    • http://profiles.google.com/thief000 J.A.J.G. Thiéfaine

They are 2,5″ drives, not 3,5″ HDDs. So about 1TB for the moment and a 1TB drive would have been reasonable at that price, not 320GB. Plus I don’t think anybody is interested in the Lego Star Wars 3 bonus.
The next Xbox should skip proprietary hard drives and go with a cradle that adapts standard 3,5″ SATA600 hard drives. The Xbox BIOS UI should then format this drive with its proprietary file system. This would save a lot of hassle.

        I would expect proprietary SSDs.
The customers dont care – just look at iOS devices – no microSD support, yet best selling smartphones and tablets.

Cool! If only such a beast existed for the older model. Oh well, I’ll get around to upgrading eventually…

    Another Rip Off from M$………LAME

The lack of support for the older models is ridiculous.

Are you like THE worst M$ butt-kisser on the planet?

You obviously don’t study business and just see it from a bias, customer point of view which is always complaining about the product and while you ‘think’ you know how it can get better, you really don’t.

M$ Butt Kisser? Why not? They’re a business where tons of people like me look up to Microsoft on how to expand their brand around with a new Video Game Console (Despite the tough competition of Nintendo and Sony) and managed to pull through as (arguably) THE Hardcore Gamer console for gamers.

If you’re purchasing Microsoft’s product, then you’re a customer and should appreciate them trying to make this the next big thing because that means more games and accessories for us to enjoy.

    320gb for 130$.
maybe if it is so fast as a SSD.

Interesting. I have little interest in this as my 250gb drive has plenty of space left on it so I’ve no desire to overpay for a hard drive, but my sister lacks a hard drive in her 4gb model.

    I bought a 1TB drive for AUD$76.00. And that was expensive….

  • HisDivineOrder

I wish Microsoft would just sell us the hard drive casing they use to make the drive compatible with the 360.  Let us install our own 2.5″ drive into it and then that into the 360.

Imagine a 360 with a SSD.  And it’d probably be cheaper than the $130+tax they want for this drive…

  • Adam Halliwell

Ouch, rip off when you can just go to dealextreme and get the hard drive case for $4.20 or something, then get a 1TB HDD for less than $100!

  • http://twitter.com/ToeKnee_G Toe Knee

Really wish we could use our own Hdd, soooooooo much cheaper.

Also, why is this only for Slim? Obviously to promote ppl getting Slim, but why leave the rest of us out? I really want to upgrade my 20gig and this proves not to be an option.  I’m not going to buy a Slim just to be able to use the new HDDs.  Who was in charge of marketing at MS that made this decision?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jan-Vaclavik/100000506187042 Jan Václavík

Just buy one of the “old” 250GB hard drives, if you need more space that bad. Its going to be a huge upgrade compared to your current 20GB model.

Slim HDD can be used on old Xbox 360 with the wire from a origional 360 HDD

  • CyberSkull

So @MajorNelson:disqus , when will the S consoles ship with the 320 included?

The Gears of War console already has the 320 in it.

      • CyberSkull

That’s not a regular retail console, hence it does not answer my question.

so, question: if I get this, will this come with a transfer cable so I can copy over all the save files from the hard drive I have right now? I don’t really need to replace my 250gb drive yet because I delete installed games when I’m done playing them… but more space would always be good and I might want one of these next year.

Hate to see the Aussie price on this. We get rammed on pricing here. Would not be surprised if it sells for $180 here in Australia.

Wouldn’t this make sense…?  Offer a HDD “shell” designed to fit into the S model (heck, even the older model) that would accept a standard laptop HDD up to say, 1TB or more.  Sell this “shell” for around $20-$40.  This would allow the user to add/upgrade storage for a cost more in line with market prices for HDDs.  I really think MS would sell a boat load of these “shells” which would likely end up being more profitable than the OEM HDDs could ever be while at the same time, giving the user what they want…virtual limitless storage!  Think about it.

its really stupid that you can’t put in your own hard drive like the PS3 allows. at least make the prices of the hard drives make sense seeing as anyone can find a similar sized or larger one much cheaper is the look on the Web.

Wish MS would support the older xbox’s and come out with this hdd for them, I need to upgrade my 20gb hdd i am running out of space on it. I am not going to upgrade systems just so i can upgrade to a bigger hdd.

    i can get 1TB for $50.00

  • aStrangeDisease

This is OK, but it’s only 70GB more than my current HDD. I’ll wait for the 500GB model so I can quit deleting all the shows I’ve paid for. I would like to have them all stored on my HDD so they can be play offline once the next Xbox is released and the current system is no longer supported.

  • tenesin honeygham

man i want one now because it’s the same price as 250 gb but more space and comes with a game
