Anybody know why it says they aren’t accepting anymore registrations? I can’t even attempt it.

Oh so NOW they get the cloud save?-.- i had over 80 savegames before i had to format the hdd!

Glad I jumped in as soon as I seen the tweet. It already says I’m accepted in the beta, but maybe that’s left over from the last one.

Make sure to use the link with the invite code it in (the one that says “Click here” not the one that says more information.)
I think that’s there way of trying to make sure people come through here first.

Any console that doesn’t receive the update but say for example you swap hard drives it will update but you won’t be able to sign into Xbox Live until the final update next month is released.

I was able to sign up after a few error messages that where probably caused by the amount of people signing up

How does Microsoft figure out who gets in to the preview program? I am guessing if you can figure out how to sign up then you are one step ahead of the rest. Its not that hard to figure out.

It seems with the prior ones (I have been lucky enough to get into all of THANK YOU MS!) that was the case, that everyone who signed up before the cut off got in, however I do not know that for sure, so please take that with a very very tiny grain of salt.

Cloud saves don’t excite you? For a vagabond gamer like me, that’s a godsend.

So if it is rendered inoperable, like the last update did to quite a few consoles, will there be any sort of compenstation or no?

You’ll get an email saying something along the lines of “Congratulations! You have been accepted into the preview program. Click the link below to register your console etc etc”. 

In the past you were required to register your console details first, but if you read the FAQ they are using a different process this year. As Major Nelson said, there is a lot of room in the preview program. Chances are you’ll get in, but the program isn’t starting for about 2 weeks.

This is a preview- it will most probably be missing certain features that will be rolled out later. It’s easier for testing if they only roll our limited features at a time.

It’s a preview, and isn’t a complete dash update. Its easier for them to roll out features in a procedural manner, so that if something goes wrong its easier to determine what caused it.

Reading the application. Does anyone else have an issue with the Bing Voice part, or is it just me? Here’s part of it:

“Note that when you or immediate family members permanently living in your home use Bing voice search, all voice commands are sent to Microsoft and stored on Microsoft servers to provide
the Bing voice search service and improve Microsoft products. Searches are saved in association with your Windows Live ID.”

Sooooooo my voice is going to be saved on some server somewhere. I can’t disable it. I can’t delete it. Microsoft is going to have access to anything I say while Bing Voice Search is active. Sorry, but no thanks. I don’t want my voice, vocal patterns and personal identifiers (other section) stored on a server only Microsoft can access with no control over my privacy and/or security. I love how the secure option is to “not use Bing Voice Search”. So security and privacy minded individuals might as well scratch that new “feature” off the list of this dashboard update.

Nope, no problems here! I think your a little paranoid. This is no different from last years preview, which included the voice data collection. It helps with ensuring the voice recognition works correctly for different regions (including accents etc.). This is a preview program- you are assisting in testing the new dash. A major portion of that is the new Bing feature which uses voice commands.

If you are accepted, you will receive a confirmation email. There is a new process in place this year, which we are still waiting on the details for.

Once you confirm your details, and register your console ID, the dashboard preview will be rolled out to consoles via an update. No different from any other update you receive when connecting to Xbox Live.

This most probably wont be for a couple of weeks. If you read through the preview faq, it answers all of this and more.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the implementation of the Beacon feature. However, I think it needs to be expanded past just your friends list, maybe something like a regional beacon would be good.

Signed up and fingers X? I have more than 1 Xbox, my main is in the bedroom (S), but I use the Lounge Xbox with the kinect too ? do I have to choose which 1 to put forward?

I hope this update finally doesn’t disable Kinect voice capabilities simply because I don’t live in the UK or USA. If it does, I really hope someone starts a class action lawsuit against Microsoft for selling products that ain’t functioning like it’s promised at sale.

If you brick your console you did something wrong.  I have participated in every dashboard preview and I have never once bricked my console.

I believe it was to allow Preview Users to be able to talk to old dash users, there are a few MS Devs who have used the YouTube App since the update

Head up to the Help link at the top corner while signed in, from there head to Your Participation Help , then to program-specific help link at top section of the page. Find Xbox Live Update Fall 2011, and contact them for help on your issue.

Mine said the same about an hour after signing up, who knows but i wont believe it until i get an email from microsoft like i have in the past previews.

No. You passed the sign-up process. They will send a confirmation email if they get you in. You can consider yourself as in the program if you see instructions on how to register a console…

Thanks.  I apperciate the help.  I tested other dashboards in the past and enjoy testing things our to see what is new.  I even did the new disc format thing a few months back and it was fine. 
Since I have my child now I do so much more tv watching on my Xbox than I can game.  I still havent gotten past the 2nd stage of the the new Gears since I cant play it in front of her.  I love the idea of Crackle and other services comming to my xbox dash.  It is like my Roku but without changing my inputs. 

After you you have been accepted into the program, you’ll get an email from Microsoft giving you instructions on how to register your consoles.

How do u know when registration is successful? I went through the process and ended up at a page that said “an invitation code should be entered before arriving at this site” or something to that effect. Someone said something about entering the wrong gamer tag. I never was asked for my gamer tag just my windows live id. Am I good or did I screw it up?

I was just able to sign up. I was previously using Firefox, when I thought of using IE. When I used IE it worked. I imagine if I had deleted my cookies and stuff on Firefox, that would have done the trick as well. Try it. Hope that helps.

Maybe but not necessarily. I think they want to gather an even demographic spread so that all features are well tested in the wild. Obviously Kinect is important as it’s one of the big reasons they are making the design change, but a lot of the the features need testing in non-Kinect setups as well.

Still, I’m hoping that most of the people who have signed up will also get in. They’re gonna need the feedback.

This is my first time in the program. I have a question. What happens after the register the consoles?

They Had you type in your console info (id exc..) before. the register process there doing now is new. im not sure how that works. but after that is done. you will receive an update on your console and an email with information about it after about 1-2 weeks. if you qualified.

Yes You Will be able to connect. if you are updated in a proper way, not by using a leaked version of some sort.

Nobody has the new E3 dashboard update, you haven’t even submitted/gone through the new processs to activate your console in the beta program. They are most likely talking about 2.0.13604.0 which is not the new dashboard. I do hope it is released soon, I’m well eager for now, just wait P:

Where do you think your profile is currently stored, yes its on your Xbox but it is also on a Microsoft server somewhere, also game saves in the cloud are very welcome not only so that you can play at friends houses but if you accidently delete a save, which I have done, you can get it back again.
