      Shame is Battlefield’s position in the top 20.

        It would have been if it had been a good game, Battlefail 3 is sadly just another CoD-clone. Compared to BF2 or 2142 it lacks several features and is severly limited, not to mention the over all quality is far from what Dice used to present.
        Much like Halo Reach (pre 343i at least)

          The old Battlefields are a bad reference point, only a minority of the people who play Battlefield know of or care about those games, those games are no longer relevant, as much as diehard fans will insist otherwise. Bad Company is the series the majority of its players are familiar with, so those games are the relevant ones. Anyway, recreating the old games certainly wouldnt have helped its sales.

          Well, yes, it would be higher if it was a good game, but that’s not because it’s a COD clone–only the single player is an attempt at outright cloning. The MP is buggy and the servers are terrible right now.

        Third place is a very respectable position. As we’ve seen from Nintendo’s success, the casual gamers vastly outnumber the core gamers. The CoD games are simply a representation of those casual gamers on the Xbox. There are still hundreds of thousands of core gamers in the rest of the top 20 games. Any success for Xbox is good for Xbox gamers, period.

      this wont of counted for the whole week, and BF3 is a COD killer doesn’t matter about how many games sold it matters which is the better game play experience

      Yeah people got BF3 while they wait for MW3 but after about a month of COD you’ll see which has the better fan base

      BF3 has dedicated servers after MW3 people will start to see why buy the same game over and over if they won’t put it on servers

      This yrs MW3 will be what kills the franchise and it be a slow death just like GH

      An you can thank the 3 Dev teams working on 1 game for ruining it

      Raven software done the online for MW3  and that will be what makes the leap from MW3 to BF3

          utter BS, game sales doesn’t make it a good game, little kids and Hype is the reason COD sells like it does and not because it a good game

          There nothing about COD that makes it better than other FPS

          Rainbow Six is a much better shooter

          COD appeals to a very young market id say 10 and up and Activision knows this which why they stop putting the animation of having your legs or arms blown off in the game

            All Call of Duty games are Rated M. The market for COD is 18+.
            Sorry dude. Battlefield sucks, COD rocks. the world agrees with me. Just look at this chart. Black OPs still #1 and it came out a year ago. Modern Warfare 2 came out 2 years ago and its #2. There’s no stopping COD. It’s showing no signs of slowing down. Sorry dude, U MAD?

            So you think because it M rated it aimed at an older market? They new it would sell alot because of young kids getting their parents to buy it for Christmas.

            i have bought all the COD games each year it the same game just Re skinned

            With every year more and more people are refusing to buy the game because of the copy and paste formula.

            Thats how BF3 has beaten COD it slowly dry up then Activision will milk another franchise.

            Probably the one Bungie is developing since that is a FPS

            I fail to see how BF3 wins by doing the same thing CoD is doing. New maps, new engine, new weapons. 

            And Black O- I mean BF3′s campaign is so much better, Throw in EA’s crappy sever care and I fail to see it’s superiority. 

            Yes some say CoD is just reskined repeatedly, but what series game isn’t? No one’s yelling at Madden or Gears.

        When I looked this morning 360 had the highest player count
        with the PC having the lowest.
        At the moment PS3 has the highest count.
        Based on that I recon it’s a bit of a fallacy to believe PC has the most
        players. At best it’s about equal across all platforms.

    I find it interesting (and maybe unfortunate) that Dungeon Defenders is listed as number one when its actual sales numbers may be under 20-30k, which isnt surprising given the timing of its release, but it would be nice if more people bought it.

        I don’t see CEA doing anything for this game. The only reason it might is because the numbers will be screwed up because if you log online to play campaign even as single player, it’ll register as an active player. CEA will do nothing for the online community, I don’t even think it’ll make top 5 longer than a week if even.

    At some point you have to realize Battlefield 3 is a designed PC game. The PC is what it was designed for, and I am not just talking about graphics.

    I was hyped for BF3, then I played that beta cough multiplayer demo. It was a bit of a mess.

    BF3 is at number 3 because it is still living with the hype. But now, Xbox360 gamers knew that hype is absolutely NOTHING, BF3 is same old BC2 and the graphics in Xbox360 is far inferior to the PC version. It will slide down slowly next to where BC2 is now.

      Children don’t play CoD!  It is rated M for Mature 17+!!  Oh wait, there are a ton that play it due to lack of parenting skills in their household. To be fair though, there are a lot of adults over 17 that play it as well (and there are many who have the mentality of a child).  Children will play whatever is deemed popular, but that doesn’t mean that they are casual players.

      LIVE activity measures the games being played by users who are simply *signed in* to Xbox LIVE–single player or otherwise. It has nothing *specifically* to do with who is playing a multiplayer game and/or multiplayer component of a game. This is why Batman is on the list–the game has no multiplayer component, but many people are playing the game whilst logged into LIVE.

        Good to know Barricade, thx for the info, that is surprising that even MW2 beat out BF3, doesn’t matter to me as you can tell on my pic I like jets, and I like being the airstrike not calling one in…   :D   I also like playing with friends in a private squad, you are always with your friends, with COD I have to find them.  To me the vehicles and large battlefronts make all the difference.

    Battlefield 3 is far better than any CoD game ever released. All those CoD fanboys don’t want to change their little game. It might be a bit of a challenge and their Xbox and TV will pay the price for their rage.

      It has nothing to do with “challenge,” but sadly, that’s the flawed impression some would have you believe. Call of Duty is simply a more popular franchise and more accessible. Additionally, there are millions of ADULTS (*gasp!) who have fun playing it. To each their own, I enjoy both.
