why is there no youtube app for norway?

  • Anonymous

The YouTube app is pretty cool. I’ve been using it for a couple of days. I had skipped the Rogers app because I figured it was only for Rogers customers, however, this post implies differently so I’ll check it out.

    • Anonymous

As I originally expected, the Rogers on Demand app is only for Rogers customers. The information above is incorrect.

      • http://carbonize.co.uk Carbonize

Yes it’s the same with the Sky Player app in the UK. Doesn’t tell you that you need an account until you install and run the app.

If only there was a way to queue up downloads for when I get home, I can’t wait to try YouTube.

  • http://twitter.com/SmarmyJerkface Chuck

    I count 10.

    • http://twitter.com/SmarmyJerkface Chuck

      Now there’s 11…

    • Anonymous

Youtube wasn’t bolded originally. It’s still only 11, though.

  • http://twitter.com/SanteriFIN Santeri Hetekivi

No Youtube for Finns great only some MUZU.TV :S

    • http://twitter.com/detonatorFIN Petrus Tuominen

      Yep. I feel disappointed.

Has a release date been announced for HBO Go yet? Other than the Comcast app (which I hear is due early 2012) that is the only other one I am really anticipating. YouTube is great. I’ve had it on my blu-ray player but the interface on the xbox is so much better!

    Pretty lame for latin america…

  • http://www.facebook.com/iamwillpatton Billy Bob Jim Patton

I only read 11 but it says 12. What’s the other one?

PS Also “Youtube” is not part of the UL. A nice easy fix for you I presume :)

Please consider an app for streaming Amazon Prime Instant Videos.

A single asterisk is used to mark “requires Gold membership”… but there’s no single asterisk anywhere else in the list.  Exactly which services require Gold?  All of them?

    • Anonymous

Sadly yes. From what I can tell, they all require a gold membership.

Looks like I’m finally going to have to give in and get a year. :S

I sure hope there will be more for the U.S.  …a lot listed here that are for other countries.

    • http://carbonize.co.uk Carbonize

There are 11 items out of which 5 are available in the US with three of them being US only. This means the US is getting the most new features of any country on top of the existing US only ones and still you complain?

  • http://www.facebook.com/xbithell Mauricio Enrique Araya Guerra

Youtube when you will be to Chile, and more channels are thought to liberate the country ..

No YouTube for Portugal?? Why, oh why?… :(

    Colombia without Nothing? really?

Now they just need to fix the reference levels to stop videos looking grey and washed out, this has been reported numerous times and they just seems to be ignoring it. Also Blinkbox doesn’t give you access to any of the free movies and TV shows that are available on their website.

    • http://carbonize.co.uk Carbonize

My biggest gripe, which has been around for a while, is how quiet audio is in avi files with voices being very quiet then explosions, background noise etc being ridiculously loud.

Any ETA on Comcast?  I know they said sometime in early 2012, but that might as well be June when it comes to them.

    • http://twitter.com/spiceman54j Josh

      Yeah?  Xfinity ETA?

  • http://twitter.com/SFOPatronangel Ioannis Giapitzakis

Why no youtube for Greece; We pay subscriptions using real money you know.

    • http://twitter.com/Inaba_kun Phil Baxter

There are still people in Greece with money?

      • http://twitter.com/mlococo Michael Lococo

        You are VERY bad!  :-)

  • http://twitter.com/ahjjones AJ Jones

Why is there not a queued list of YouTube subscriptions from ALL your subscriptions like on YouTube/all other apps. You have to go through each subscriber to see what content has been uploaded, and that seems like an oversight. Also, why is the quality so bad? I don’t seem to be getting videos in HD for some reason.

Is there any update on when Time Warner Cable customers can use ESPN app correctly?

    • http://www.facebook.com/chuck.yoder Chuck Yoder

Nope. And they never will. No one seems interested in correcting it.

      • http://twitter.com/spartannhilator Zak Hayer

lol fixing what…its a licensing issue time warner doesnt want its customers to have a channel for “free” since theoretically some customers dont pay for espn on their bill…

  • http://profiles.google.com/gwangi77 Mike Orson

Hey Major, I know you guys didn’t include U-verse on your list of upcoming partners because they already are on the xbox, but that required an “in$tall” on U-verses part.  Do you know if they are gonna update their app and make it available for free to U-verse subscribers?

  • http://twitter.com/cliffburton_ Jeisson Beltrán O.

Youtube in Colombia? No? What Happened?

    • http://twitter.com/spartannhilator Zak Hayer

i didnt see columbia in the previous list…did you? You live in columbia you dont need youtube just go blow a line….

  • Josep Roura

MSNBC appearing in my Spanish account and Youtube is not appearing? Strange.

So when will youtube be released in Belgium?… Seriously, all our surounding countries have it.. And again, Belgium doesn’t .__.

  • http://maemo.org/openid/id/zuti/ zuti

Wow. The availability of the Youtube client is just really sad. It’s not enough that most of the world gets absolutely nothing… no, just add some more artificial limitations to Youtube.

I guess this just crowns the disappointment that is the new dashboard.

I would weep tears of joy if Amazon VOD would come to the 360.  I’ve been trying to find something to replace my Roku, and that one feature keeps me hanging on.  The last thing I need the Xbox to do is stream my blu-ray movies (file/folder, or MKV I’m not picky).  A blu-ray in the hands of a 4 year old is no bueno.

Portugal has the largest amount of MS fanboys per square meter!!!!! And MS does this to us? Why? Is it the Portuguese government? Cause we’ll get rid of them if that’s the problem…

Whoa! Iheartradio and YouTube are AWESOME! and I’m Lovin’  the new dash too

  • Costas Petridis

It took almost 10 years for Xbox live to reach
countries like Greece or Portugal… I suppose a few more years would not hurt
anyone; for a service like YouTube which btw, is available in my country
through numerous other devices… from my good old PC to my “smart”
TV… now how smart Xbox is really?

    I am in the
preview program (new dashboard) and the only new feature I have to test is…
    the new UI… nothing more…
No Kinect voice commands (surprise), no apps (app market is just… empty), no YouTube,
    no… no…

Job done I think (I mean about the preview program).

  • http://twitter.com/Grichecth Shawn Miller

I need a Gold membership to use youtube? What kind of BS is that. Its not enough that I paid the price I did for the damn machine but you need more money out of me? Thats it. Xbox is going up for sale to buy my new Playstation. Thanks for making the decision easy Microsoft.

    • Robert Pendell

Well Youtube is supported by ads on the website normally.  Would you rather have ads on the XBox Live app?

      • http://gomorning.com shidoshi

My iPhone has a free YouTube app. It has no ads. That excuse is meaningless.

        • Anonymous

A better comparison would be: You’re paying a monthly fee for data on your iphone, which allows you to view youtube for free. Here. you’re paying monthly for xbox live, which “allows” you to *ALSO* watch youtube for free. I’m not saying I agree or disagree, just making that distinction.

          • http://gomorning.com shidoshi

But I’m paying a monthly fee for my home internet, which then gives me free access to YouTube on my iMac, Wii, PS3, or iPhone (via WiFi). Or I can pay ANOTHER fee on top of that first fee to access it on my Xbox 360.

The comparisons really aren’t the same.

          • Anonymous

yeah, and i already pay my isp for  broadband… and my dashboard has ads all over the place anyway

          • Anonymous

          • Alex Coll

not if you use public wifi, then youtube is absolutely free. so yeah, robert pendell’s excuse is meaningless

      • Anonymous

the new dashboard has ads all over the place… and im i have GOLD. then why do i have to pay for gold if the service is ad supported?!?

What happened with Youtube in Colombia??

  • Anonymous

@Major, we all want 12 days of Christmas sales!

  • http://gomorning.com shidoshi

Okay, seriously—YouTube only for Xbox Live Gold members is just utterly ridiculous. YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Netflix—all can be done on other platforms without needing to pay an extra free, and nothing about the Xbox 360 implementations are worth having them locked away only to subscribers.

It’s baffling how much Live Silver members are made to feel like second-class citizens. (And I say this as somebody who pays for Gold.)

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1063920293 Josh Moore

its there way of scaming you for money. they make stuff on gold just to try to get more ppl to sign up so they make more money

lol no youtube in Greece LOL

    • http://www.facebook.com/vinnie.pt Miguel Gomes

No Youtube in most places. Pathetic, really. I want to see them try to sweet talk their way out of this clusterfuck. Youtube is available worldwide on every connected device under the sun… except Xbox 360

  • Anonymous

Why limit the YouTube app to only a few countries? YouTube is available worldwide and it should be on Xbox too.

  • http://twitter.com/Inaba_kun Phil Baxter

The Blinkbox app is pretty weak. You can browse the content, but can’t actually buy or rent anything. To do that requires a PC with a web browser…  Not exactly very well thought out there Microsoft.

And all the free Blinkbox content is blocked on the 360.   Oh and even if you jump through all the hoops to actually rent something, it’s in SD….
Better not to add poor apps at all, as it just makes the service look bad.

  • http://twitter.com/ShortTompkins Jason

haters gonna hate – this is awesome news!

  • http://twitter.com/pcedfeldt Paul Cedfeldt

The YouTube app is excellent. It could use a search function.  iHeartRadio is fantastic.  Been doing a lot of listening to the holiday stations already.  Good stuff.  Thanks!

    • Anonymous

There is a search function (keyboard/controller only) - look down at the action buttons below. Too bad it looks like they’re not indexing it right now, though. Would be nice to use voice to search.

Rogers On Demand (Canada): Rogers On Demand provides select TV shows and movies to everyone for FREE. Rogers customers can also catch up on their favorite premium programming anytime, from anywhere in Canada.

…not true. I just signed up, I’m not a Rogers customer, and it told me I don’t have access because I’m not a Rogers customer.

m$ just scared me away from one of the few things i use, msnbc. not going to sit through an ad for every short news clip. your ads are getting way out of hand!!!!!

    • Anonymous

I’m pretty sure that Microsoft is not responsible for the ads in the MSNBC app.

Can we get AdBlock Plus or AdBlock Video for xbox?

      • un4gvn94538

out of the few i clicked on, they were all KINECT ADS! im sure m$ has a hand in it besides what others are saying about the ms in msnbc.
