$10 (800 MS Points) for The Simpsons Arcade? Really? Come on now. #GetAGrip!

    • Anonymous

      Don’t buy it then.

      • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

I’m not planning on it. I appreciate that you ‘edited’ your reply. Even if I had limitless money it doesn’t change the “value” of the game. You’re better off buying Xmen Arcade or Ninja Turtles Arcade for $5 (400 MS Points) this Simpsons Arcade port looks pretty slap dash.

        • http://thetjhzone.blogspot.com Tylerh1701

Xmen is $10 and the Ninja Turtles games are delisted (in USA, anyway. Not sure about other countries).

          • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

Ouch. I’m pretty sure I grabbed Xmen for $5… guess it was on sale.

          • http://thetjhzone.blogspot.com Tylerh1701

I remember grabbing it on April Fools day for 160msp.  It was one of those rare mega discounts that MS does.

          • http://twitter.com/Navarin Bennijin Turbo

            Too rare.

    • http://profiles.google.com/ncc1701p Louis Izquierdo

My guess is this fantastic thing called ‘licensing fees’.  Its funny.. 800MSP for 18Meg of info. Queued the demo up.. Personally I’m sure anyone who’s finished the game in the arcade has spent WAY more than $10 in an attempt to finish it.. Especially in 4 player mode.

  • http://twitter.com/TehShadowman Scotty

not even in HD. Come on guys, 800 is very rich for this.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/ZephyrnixLive Lydell Washington

lol. Wow, so the only non-kinect game we get this week, is a multiplatform game that is over 10 years old, trying to sell for $10 and PS plus members get for free….. #areyouseriousbro

    • The Dukenator

The game is from 1991.  I recall playing this in arcades.

    • Anonymous

PS Plus members need to pay yearly just keep accessing it, so it’s NOT free.

      • The Dukenator

Konani hadn’t said anything about a version for non PS Plus members.

        • http://twitter.com/WickedWaffles93 Dixie Normous

ps+ members get it free, it’s on the ps blog.

      • Anonymous

Xbox Live members have to pay early to be able to play online (any game).
PSN plus members get free online and free games, and if they don’t pay they can always buy the games and still play them online for free.
WinWin on PSN, loose loose on xbox live.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Digitalcynic Michael Milan

It was a late 80′s quarter cruncher.  You would have spent $10 in the actual arcade just to beat it once.  Add 3 friends and $10 is nothing.

    • Anonymous

yeah… 21 years ago… there have been other roms here that were sold at 400/200

  • Hugoku

Will wait and see. Don’t want nostalgia get the best of me this time (i’m looking at you MK Collection).

  • Anonymous

$10 is kinda too much for this game, I will play it though just on PSN, at least they were smart and gave it away for free.

    • Anonymous

If by free you mean you have to be a paying member of Playstation Plus…then yes…”free”.

      • ElektroDragon

Playstation Plus is a much better deal than Live.

        • Anonymous

Well first of all that’s a matter of opinion. And secondly, that wasn’t the point. It’s not really free if you have to pay to get it….for “free”.

          • ryder4life22187

not exactly free either as last i heard once you stop paying for the plus membership the free games are no longer playable unless im mistaken

          • Lee Rayson

You are correct, it is not “fee” it is more like borrowing the game while your a PSN+ to me thats a worse deal than xbox live

People fall for the word “free” to often

          • Anonymous

Not really so as for paying for Xbox Live gets you what? Pretty much nothing ( besides maybe voice chat, etc.) At least PSN+ allows you to download games that you may or may not play otherwise therefore giving you a chance to explore the full version of games. Where as Xbox Live gives you only a demo of the game.

          • Anonymous

Here is your Kryptonite: the DotW is only for GOLD accounts.

          • Anonymous

Not sure how that relates to anything in this discussion. The point was simply that the game isn’t really ‘free’ if you have to pay for the membership to get it.

          • Anonymous

How is that my Kryptonite? (By the way…that wasn’t clever.)

I wasn’t making the claim that one service was better than the other. All I did was point out that calling something free that you can only get if you are paying for a service is not really free.

            Not that hard to understand.

          • Anonymous

Even if you are a PSN+ member you are still getting it cheaper than out right paying $10 for it. Yeah I am pretty much “renting” it but hey im still coming out cheaper through PSN+ as im getting to play this game as well as many others.

      • Anonymous

You have to pay for xbox live to be able to play any form of Co-op online, or any form of multiplayer, and get no games, no themes, no nothing.
Now, think about it, does “free games, themes and DLC (PSN+)” sound that bad compared to “nothing at all, but at a high price (Xbox Live)”

Ms sure knows how to pick their fans/fanboys, much like Apple, I rather pay for MS product then get the same thing or better, for free. I rather pay for a service I can get free elsewhere. Well, capitalism sure loves you, free thinking does not.

        • Anonymous

All I did was point out that something isn’t really free if you have to pay to get it. I didn’t mindlessly defend Microsoft. I have plenty of issues with them. I pointed a hole in logic, nothing more.

The funny part is you would have the nerve to imply that I am fanboy…but considering how you reacted, resorting to calling me a fanboy and not a free thinker…you’re the one who looks like a Sony fanboy now.

  • http://www.facebook.com/stefangabbert Stefan Gabbert

Should be 400MSP since it is a simple port of an old game.

    • Lee Rayson

So it a simple port eventhough there 4 play online co op? no it not a simple port

      • Anonymous

Ok, then it’s an “hyoer advanced port with amazing 4-player co-op”.
No new features except co-op, 3h gameplay, dated graphics, seriously?
It’s the same game with a feature copy-.pasted from another game with the same engine (TMNT)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joey-Poole/666825459 Joey Poole

    $10?!?! Bwhahahahahahaha Really?!? Bwahahahahahahahah

  • http://twitter.com/HTLoneWolf HTLoneWolf

    Rip off.

  • http://twitter.com/JsinChaos Jsin

    too much sorry

    • Anonymous

Agreed. I DO WANT this title but I’ll just wait till it’s on sale at some point. Ten bucks for something that you can complete in less than 2 hours is way too steep. Five dollars is the sweet spot for games of this caliber.

  • Avatar Roku

Xmen, Ninja Turtles, and Simpsons are all 800 points. Licensed games are expensive because they have to share the profits.

    • Anonymous

The Ninja Turtles Arcade title was 400 points.

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Bennijin Turbo

TMNT 1989 was 400. You may be thinking of the awful Turtles in Time remake.

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Bennijin Turbo

TMNT 1989 was 400. You may be thinking of the awful Turtles in Time remake.

  • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

As well as X-Men and Ninja Turtles this doesn’t even was polished to have HD graphics with pixel shader technology to get a even better cartoon experience. Also no improvements in the gameplay at all.  Doesn’t worth $ 10,00 and I love the game.

    • Anonymous

Why would they change the gameplay? That’s not what people want from a nostalgic experience, and the sprite work is beautiful. Thank god they didn’t mess with it.

      • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

Don’t get me wrong. I do like to get the nostalgia sensation about it but they should innovate and add more content if they want to get a higher price on this one. A simple port should cost 400 msp nothing more

  • http://twitter.com/karlcramer Karl Cramer

Flashback to the 90s. When The Simpsons cartoon was still funny, topical, and socially relevant.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Vannos Sebastian Gsellmann

No kidding. Everytime The Simpsons gets renewed for more seasons I assume its due to nostolgic network exec, because the show is god awful.

      • Anonymous

Nah, it’s due to the fact that it still makes FOX a ton of money.

        • Anonymous

20 years and FOX still doesnt have something to take its place (since Family Guy has also gone sale). Thats pretty telling about a network like FOX, even those two shows have made fun of that fact, thats how painfully obvious it is.

          • Anonymous

I think that even if FOX had things to replace Simpsons & Family Guy, enough people are still watching those two shows that there’s no way they’d get rid of them.

          • Anonymous

No, I would expect those shows to outlive their acting talent before they get canceled. Im assuming that will be the reason the Simpsons finally ends.

  • http://twitter.com/karlcramer Karl Cramer

I, and I think most, will wait for the eventual Deal of the Week sale where this will get discounted 50%. 400 Microsoft Points is the right price for this.

  • Anonymous

shame about the price… guess ill stay away from this simple rom

  • Anonymous

I want this game sooooo much, but at $10, geez, I really just don’t know. There are plenty of other fuller experiences for that price. Conflicted!

  • Anonymous

Having never played the game in the arcade, I tried this for this first time this morning. Without that nostalgia, it’s pretty bland & doesn’t hold up.

If it was $5, I probably would’ve grabbed it but for $10, I’ll pass.

  • http://twitter.com/Byyys Byyys

You’d be stupid to waste 800 on this, any old arcade classics should only be 400 nothing more!

    • Anonymous

Except this old arcade game has a license attached to it.

    • http://twitter.com/JuanCabrera Juan Cabrera

I wouldn’t say you have to be stupid to buy it.  But I will wait until it goes on sale.  800 MSP is just too much for me.

  • http://twitter.com/TrashMKX Chris

Lol, you ppl are cheap! Glad money is not an issue for me when it comes to having fun with gaming.

    • Anonymous

Just because a game’s fun doesnt you should blindly spend your cash on it either. This game’s pretty old, and its incredibly short, its a purchase Id think twice about.

    • Anonymous

It’s not about being cheap… I’m far from it, as a quick look at the few hundred titles on my Gamercard (all but a few of which I own brand new copies of) would tell you…

It’s about whether someone feels that they’ll get enough value out of a title to warrant the price that it is selling for & for most people in these comments, myself included, they just don’t see that value being there.

Heck, when a game has an achievement for finishing it in under 30 minutes, it’s a hard value proposition at almost any price.

    • Anonymous

No one complaining is cheap. It’s called fiscal responsibility; something you seem to have no concept of.

This is a port of a 21-year-old arcade game that’s not very long. To charge $10 for this is mind-blowingly ridiculous.

But hey, if you want to irresponsibly waste your money, go for it.

      • Anonymous

Fiscal responsibility is something that varies from person to person based on how much money they have and what financial obligations they have in their lives. So just because someone is willing to pay $10 for this game doesn’t automatically make them fiscally irresponsible.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XOTBJKUR4IW74YLQH2LHQTE2BU Kairu

Haha that’s hilarious. Nice action figure collection bro! /s

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Bennijin Turbo

400 used to be the norm for coin-ops, three years ago or more (when we actually asked for the game) this would have released at that. I’m not paying 800 for this, no chance. Are you out of your tree?

Gonna be a DotW for me.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Thad-Vein/100000485146280 Thad Vein

It’s free next week on PSN ….. if you have PSN Plus.

  • Anonymous

For 800 MSP + nostalgic feelings, Guardian Heroes is a MUCH better deal, for example, not considering the countless great (new) games for this price…

Waiting for a drop or DotW, as I really like this game.

  • Anonymous

Why the hell is this $10?

    • Jason McLean

800 msp for a game that can be completed in 30min. M$ need to seriously wakeup, or they might find their fan base start dwindling away.

  • http://twitter.com/williamronholm Anonymous

Spent way more than $10 on this game in the arcade back in the day, this is worth it.

  • Anonymous

nostalgic game for the rest its just 2 much for 10$

  • http://twitter.com/MajorGnarl Rickard Olsson

No one should be surprised if this doesn’t sell well. That’s all…

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_XHCYLCGIFEVPHZCCJWSPZSVVTM Ardania

$10 or $15 for new XBLA games make sense, but ports from older titles do not.

I played this back in the arcades in the 90s, $5 would have been more reasonable.

  • Anonymous

Or you could just play it for free on MAME :/

  • Anonymous

Price drop for Shank, BloodRayne: Betrayal and Swarm… I guess Simpsons will get this soon.

  • Anonymous

lol 800mp, i got it free on my PS3, this game no worth 100mp
