Those look awesome… probably until you touch them. Finger print magnets. Heck, the glossy consoles are bad enough – these things you actually hold in hand. LOL.

$55 for a controller? No thanks

    • Anonymous

Hell, that is a normal price for a PS3 controller and the main reason my ps3 only has one controller.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/DG26H7M7IX3ZSE3OIBBEQ4AX7M R G

        lol really? that’s awful

  • Anonymous

Those look awesome. I’ll probably end up passing because the last thing in the world I need is another controller (I’ve got so many that one is still in the packaging) but man are they tempting, especially that red one.

Also, they look like they have the transforming d-pad, which is a huge plus. I will never buy another 360 controller that doesn’t have that.

I want one so bad! Such a shame this wont be available in brazil…

Are they out now blue and red ones look cool :D ?

$30 and it’s insta-buy. $55 is just too much for me I’m afraid.

  • http://twitter.com/BGCurator Randy Brown

Will these come with a play and charge kit?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=510024734 Daniel Dafoe

No love for wired controller users, once again.

    • http://twitter.com/TehEmperorsHand Lew

lol I know, right! Wireless pad just doesn’t sit right – 2x weight too!

  • aStrangeDisease

OMG, I want! Sooo hawt! They would be even better without the colours on the ABXY buttons. I’d like if they were different shades of the controller’s colour; like the grey, transforming d-pad controller.

  • Anonymous

Hey, what about standard black controllers with the transforming D-Pad?

    • http://profiles.google.com/thief000 J.A.J.G. Thiéfaine

Yes, I agree, all the controllers should be like these with the transforming D-Pad and the concave sticks.

  • http://twitter.com/Shadowmen19 Shadowmen #19

OOOOOO.Shiny @__@ I could use a new controller cause I’m thinking about trash my old one that is battery pack is held together with duct tape.

  • http://twitter.com/iKrill Antonio

Looks awesome. Do they include the Play n’ Charge kit or are they ERP $54.99 because of LE?

    • Eric Woodley

I am inclined to say because they are special edition. The original silver controller with transforming D-pad was $64.99, and it had the play and charge, and these are only $5.00 more than the standard black, or white wireless controller.

  • Anonymous

I will defiantly pick one of these up. I need a new one for Halo 4. I might even keep it boxed until then.

  • Daniel Stein

if there was a silver-black fade I’d be on board for sure..guess I’ll wait a bit

  • http://twitter.com/BtHRhyme Rhyme

if i get any of these it’s gonna be the chrome one.

  • theConstruct

Brilliant idea, an entire controller made out of a print magnet. /sarcasm

  • http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com/ Ujn Hunter

Why aren’t these D-pads standard? Does the C-3PO controller have this D-pad?

    • http://twitter.com/SevenDead1ySinz Jason Boyd

All new controllers have the transforming D-Pad, including the C-3PO one (and yes, it is a chrome d-pad too)

    • http://twitter.com/blrogrl808 Lianne

It does. A lot of the newer xbox limited edition consoles have it.

    • Anonymous

Considering the price dropped $10, it looks like it’s getting to the point where it will be standard in the not too distant future.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Coburn/1291126502 Steven Coburn

these controller prices are getting out of hand :( cost as much as a game- jebus

    • Anonymous

This is priced less than the original transforming D-Pad controller (Silver) which retailed for $65.

In as far as this style of controller goes, it’s getting less expensive.

      • Anonymous

but didn’t that come with a play and charge kit?

  • Anonymous

Wow. They look pretty awesome.  I’d love to get that red or chrome one.  Could definitely see myself manhandling a green one too. Kinda surprised there’s no green since it’s an Xbox controller.

    • http://www.facebook.com/louismason Louis Mason

OMG a green one would be boss. I love the blue one

      • Anonymous

I agree, the blue one looks pretty sweet!

  • Anonymous

wired please,i am only a few feet from the console and i have been through about 3 play and charge kits that just stop working after a year,so now i am wired only, much better

    • Anonymous

Ni-MH batteries have a limited number of charges due to a charge circuit built into the pack.  Improper use of the Play and Charge kit can result in a significantly reduced life of a battery.  Only charge the batteries when they’re fully depleted and remove them from the charger immediately after they’ve been charged.

It’s best not to charge the batteries while playing, although circumstances may require you to do so.  If at all possible, purchase more than one battery to keep charged and ready for extended play sessions.

It’s also recommended that you purchase the Xbox 360 Quick Charge Kit, instead of using the Play n Charge Kit.  The same rules apply, charge only after fully depleted and remove once fully charged, but you get a battery with the charger, it charges the batteries faster and in my experience they seem to last longer.

Also avoid dropping or allowing the batteries to hit hard objects, doing so can damage the charge circuit causing the battery to become inoperable.

    What about the Sweat

    $55? LoL

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Rick-Kingslan/100000233787966 Rick Kingslan

My only problem with the cotrollers – above the obvious ‘print magnet’ issue that’s been mentioned, is how the heck are you going to hold on to this thing in the middle of a heavy “Gears of War/CoD/Halo” multi-player session?

I can see this thing squirting out of someone’s hands and embedding into the middle of the flat screen…..

Other than that, they LOOK nice.

      Grip strips.  :)

Sweet, that will match my chrome faceplate perfectly!

This is amazing. On the other hand I have a silver, black and white controller so maybe i’ll get a red for my sis, and a blue for my dad. He may like a white so I don’t know.

to expensive and too late, but i bought one XD

  • Anonymous

I would use it to charge the batteries, but then eventually the battery pack would die,so then i would use it as cable only, but again within the year from buying it,that would stop working as well, had about 3 now

Also, the controller is always ON(well the wireless ones anyway)…even when the Xbox 360 is off..go ahead and turn off your machine and your room lights, you can see a light still on obviously for quick start,i used to always take the battery pack out because the charge was just lasting some day or two

so the end of last year i bought a wired black controller, not looked back as of yet,no messing about with the batteries is a blessing…and half the price of wireless :)

I also had a separate battery charger and single AA batteries when i used to be on Final Fantasy 11 all day..burnt through them at an alarming rate as well

I have also heard charging it from the 360 lessens the life as well,a friend of mine uses the usb on his PC to charge it…not sure if that works or not

take into account from launch i have had some 2 weeks off my Xbox, and that was because i was in hospital…been on every day,i play on my Xbox 360 a lot

quite happy with wired now, just hope MS carry them across to the next console :)

    • aStrangeDisease

I noticed my older controller glowing slightly in the dark too, but I think the newer wireless controllers don’t do that anymore.

I’ve also gone through a couple of play and charge kits. The better set-up is the quick charge kit. You can have one or two battery packs fully charged and ready for when you need them. It’s actually faster to switch out a battery pack than it is to plug in a charge cable too. It only takes about five seconds to restart your controller versus at least ten seconds to grab a cable and set it up.

If there was wired versions i would pick one up. Is there any chance of a wired version?

Silver – Microsoft Store and Best Buy
    Blue – GameStop
    Red – Walmart

  • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

For the US, the colors will be available a the following stores:

    o   GameStop – Blue
    o   Walmart – Red
    o   Best Buy/MS Store – Silver

    • http://twitter.com/boeboelord Boe2

Once in a while this idiotic form of marketing leaks over to Europe (I’m looking at you, SSX), but that doesn’t stop me from being amazed every time again….The color you want decides what store you have to visit?? I can sort of understand the logic behind it (more loyal and submissive stores get the more popular colors. Not a chain brand? WELL: NO CONTROLLERS, GO AWAY), but for gamers this is yet another setback in the easy of use.

Anyone else hear the cash cows being milked?

  • Anonymous

Pretty cool, my controller is starting to bow out on me so I might pick one of these up.

  • Anonymous

So this is just a test to see what color the next console will be isn’t it? ^_^
