A nice compliment to Zen’s Pinball FX 2 (which aren’t real tables, like these). I love Pinball FX 2, so I’ll definitely try this out. I hope the physics are well done, that’s what makes or breaks most pinball games for me.

You mean this one? :) (its at Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas)

Tales of the Arabian Nights and Theatre of Magic are two of my all time favorites (Along with Addams Family, which isn’t listed unfortunately). I held high scores on those two machines for a long time at the coney by my place.

addams family will depend on how hard it is to license not only the movie but all the likenesses of the actors included in the artwork…but farsight is getting inundated with requests for that particular table…so we’ll see…

would love to see rct & monopoly tables from stern. especially RCT as i never got a chance to try it eventhough the only one ive seen in the last few years was in the window of a chuck e cheese.

    • http://twitter.com/Morbidsoul40 Rick Schumaker

RCT was ok. The table played extremely fast and I thought they could have done so much more with the ramp rails than they did. I believe there is a version of it on Virtual Pinball if you ever wanted to try it on your pc.

Over the next few years? They have quite the expectations…

Is there really a need for ANOTHER pinball game?  =

    • Anonymous

Big difference between the real tables Pinball Arcade provides and FX2’s.  What’s that bring the total to…like two pinball games on XBLA?  Yes, that’s far too many…we are in much higher need of more tower defense, twin stick shooters, and FPS games.

      • Anonymous

Wow, you really took one sentence and ran with it didn’t you?  I get that there’s a difference in the tables.  Can’t we have real tables in FX2?  Is that not possible?  I guess not?  =

Also too, there’s been FX1, FX2, a disc based game released for the 360 and at least 2 for the original Xbox.  ALL have been horrible (IMHO) except for the Pinball FX series.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/4JXLUBEYV2KUE2YRHVTGH74XNQ T S

pinball fx cant do real tables as they dont own the licenses to do so

That would be close to saying “Is there really a need for another shooter?  We already have Halo.”   The answer is simply, “Yes”.  We do need more.  It creates competition, which can only serve to make companies try harder to earn our disposable dollars by creating better and better products.  And for people who love pinball games, then the more the better :-)

      • Anonymous

Yes and no. I’m not sure the Halo comparison is a good one–pinball games have much less variance from title to title than the average shooter–usually, anyhow.

The Williams collection is already out on disc (Pinball Hall of Fame: The William’s Collection), but there are about half of the ones listed that aren’t on that disc.  Wise of them to only put one of the games from that collection as one of the starting games for it (Tales of the Arabian Nights).  I love pinball games and will pick this up because of the non-William’s tables that are already on the disc.  Pinball is a very underrepresented genre, and it’s nice to see it getting some more attention.  I love the Pinball FX titles, so this can only add to the already impressive lineup of pinball games available.   But if you don’t have the Pinball Hall of Fame, pick it up, I found it for $20 and it includes 13 tables.

The physics on Tales needed some tweaking anyway, so I don’t mind as much that one being a repeat (plus there’s that dumb Harem Multiball glitch they fixed).  PHOF was very very good with physics for the older 80’s tables like Pinbot, but the same physics don’t work as well with newer tables, since newer tables play faster than the 80’s ones.

If this title includes Black Knight 2000 (be it included or DLC) they get a purchase from me. Otherwise I’ll be sticking with FX2.

they want to make bk 2000 accd to an employee  at farsight…just a matter of when at this point

  • http://engadgetsucks.wordpress.com/ Don’t Really Care

Pinball Hall of Fame: The William’s Collection is EXCELLENT and a game I will never part with.  I prefer it over Pinball FX.  You don’t know until you’ve played Medieval Madness.

  • http://engadgetsucks.wordpress.com/ Don’t Really Care

Yeah, I love Pinball Hall of Fame: The William’s Collection too, but like John below says… that this will have other, non-Williams tables makes it REAL attractive.

And Pinball FX is fun and all, but I want to play Guns N Roses pinball or World Cup ’94… those tables were SICK as all get out.  Hopefully this collection means we’ll get to see some of those later.

G’n’R was a Data East table.   Which went on to be Sega Pinball, then Sega sold the pinball company to Stern.   But it would be extremely unlikely that a licensed property would make it.

  • ElektroDragon

Should have been 400 with DLC tables establishing their revenue stream, especially in light of the fact that three other Pinball games exist, one retail, two XBLA, that are much more fleshed out.  As a new entry this can’t compete with those at the same price level as FX1/FX2.  But I guess they were not thinking at all so might be sadly be doomed to fail.

  • http://twitter.com/Ganon255 Ganon255

The physics don’t feel right. I still like it though.

    • http://twitter.com/Morbidsoul40 Rick Schumaker

This x1000. The physics are waaaay off on some of the tables, and there were also a hand full of bugs I found right away (Genie magnet not grabbing the ball correctly is a bad one). I’ll pass on this and keep playing Epic Quest instead.

  • Sean Willmore

Is this going to be like Game Room where lots of titles are promised and then never delivered?

    • Anonymous

Unlikely, because it’s not a Microsoft pet project designed around the idea of taking nigh-shareware titles from three companies, sprinkling on a little Konami for variety, and letting the company forced to work with that lineup take the fall for it all.

Pinball Arcade will be on pretty much everything out there, 360, PS3/Vita, iPad, etc – so if they abandon the project mid-way they’ll get flak from everywhere.

But at the same time, you have to wonder if supporting all the major systems might stretch their resources a bit thin when it comes to optimizing each version of it.

They don’t have to offer the bad games like black night, pinbott, gorgar, and a few others. They aren’t very good of fun. Some are great fun tho.
