      You know there are free trials for every Xbox LIVE Arcade game? I mean its great you bought it…but you could always try before you buy.

        I bought it immediately without trying out the trial.
        Saw enough gameplay videos of it some time ago.
        NO REGRETS and worth every penny IMHO!

        I normally do, but some games I just go for based on video clips and buzz… Limbo, Trials HD and a few others. No regrets.

    This is the most charming game I’ve played since Journey on PSN and Bastion before that.

        It took me about five hours to finish FEZ. I loved every second of it. I have no intention of playing through it again any time in the foreseeable future.

        It took me about two hours to finish Journey, each of the seven times I’ve played through it so far.

        So yeah, my journey through Journey has lasted ‘a whole lot longer’ than FEZ. Love them both though, tied for my GOTY so far.

       PS3 gets Journey, 360 gets this. Own both consoles and you get the best of both worlds!

    Just beat Fez and it’s absolutely incredible. One of the best downloadable games of all time. During the beginning of the game I was digging it but then I was quickly consumed by the game and couldn’t stop until I beat it. Everything about the game is just insanely good. Only issue was the frame rate. Need to start a new game +.

      The only thing that turns me off about the game are the puzzles where you have to perform all this decryption of complex jibberish all over the walls.  It’s just a pain in the butt and adds nothing to the game.

    Can someone who has beat the game or played enough of it to tell me whats so interesting about it?
    Been watching this title for a while but I have to say I was just so underwhelmed by the demo, jump here, spin, jump there dum dee dum, grab a cube, say hello to a duck,…spin the environment some more..oh look now it looks a little different and I can jump there kinda puzzle.
    I’m not knocking the game, I just want to know whats different and some opinions as to whether this is worth the purchase.

    Whats all the rave?

      I haven’t played more than two or three hours of it so far but it is CLEVER. It’ll challenge you but never to the point of frustration. It can be funny, the music is nice but subtle and the artsyle is charming.

      Points down include: slight technical hiccups, a needlessly convoluted map and I dare say it’s got a small whiff of pretentiousness about it.

      Bottom line, I’ve had a blast thus far. And you should also be glad a high profile game like this is only 800 points.

        I appreciate you taking the time to respond, maybe playing the demo in a different frame of mind or just buying it like I did with Journey in a ‘what the hell’ blindfold purchase kinda way (which paid off might I add) might be what’s needed!

      I’m about 60% through it now, and the comparison I can suggest is… think about a Mario game, and how that ramps up on its design from World 1-1 through 8-4. Not complexity, but the design becomes intricate. It teaches you something then ramps up, peppering it with “oh cool” moments that only exist in one screen, and changing mood and aesthetics completely through another whole level. Then take away the enemies and the pressure, but add mystery. 

      I enjoy the Paper Mario series a great deal, and I think it’s clear that Phil appreciates it in many of the same ways. Those games are rare, and it’s nice to have more of them.

        SMB had the tightest controls I have ever played in a platformer. Did you ever beat both Light and Dark worlds?
