Update: Corrected the Forza Porsche Pack

Deal, Game Add-on, Marketplace By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Fore

Depending on what’s in the microsoft studios sale… DOTW seem pretty poor these next 2 weeks again..

  • Daniel

You guys suck. Vote up not down.

  • TheDoveOfPeace

Definitely better than the last month or two but we’re not there yet. Major, do you believe removing Inside Xbox has been a good idea or bad? I’m not looking for an argument I’m just wondering what someone like yourself thinks, is it good for the gaming community or a blow to loyal customers over the years.

    • QuixoticRocket

I don’t think he’s happy with it, but if MS says they’re cutting it he can’t exactly stop them. All the Major can do is report the feedback he gets from us and hope the higher-ups change their mind, but the eventual end decision is still above his head. If MS doesn’t green light it then it doesn’t get onto our dashboards.
The best we can hope for is the IX guys going rogue and continuing after-hours creating an IX youtube channel. While that’d be cool I think it’s fairly unlikely.

  • Anthony

still nothing for kinect fun labs where is the free game for this month

    • Inqui117

There is a Kinect Rush: Snapshot. It’s pretty simple and not exactly a game, but a freebie is a freebie.

      • Anthony

i already beat the game and got every achievement

  • Dean Martin

hi major what is with these silly rrp price tags, saints row third and skyrim both £49.99 wtf i personally think these prices need to be dropped big time if they want to stop piracy / used games and make digital these prices just anger me to want to sell my 4 xbox360slims

  • Antarael Dulacre

  • Daniel

    7th :) Bungie <3

  • Jesse R.

Nice! I was just thinking to myself this morning that I wish M&M:Clash of Heroes would go on sale again. Definitely picking that up.

  • Joost Wouterse

Wasn’t the Forza 4 Porsche pack supposed to be 1600 points? For 560 points it suddenly looks like a steal :)

    • Ozzpot

Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s 1600msp too. Someone has assumed it’s the same price as all the other Forza 4 packs but this is different. It’s a much larger pack of cars, with new events and achievements too. I’m sure it’s still 1600msp.

  • Randy Ramsgate

free level of metal sonic only accessable to those who own both sonic 4″s yippee!!! a whole week of deals for kinect. i dont mean this in a bad way but i wish kinect would burn in hell. major u r awesome. were u in “the hangover” movie?

  • William Eckert

May want to double check the price on the Forza Porsche Pack. Pretty sure that’s not the price Turn 10 has been throwing around. Not that I’ll be disappointed if you’re correct, sir.

  • Randy Ramsgate

also please dont cancel this site as well i check ur site daily for any news and i would hate it to go. does anyone know if sonic 4 ep2 is in 1080p like the first one. im assuming so.

  • Nicholas J. Ambrose

Wahey, a Kinect sale! I love my Kinect, it gets lots of use, so I’ll definitely be grabbing some of these trials.

Microsoft sale stuff looks really good, although I wish I’d waited instead of picking up Trials HD a few weeks ago! Definitely going to give Worms a go, and retry Fusion: Genesis.

  • Hugoku

Well, the Kinect deal is not so hot, but M&M:CoH, Outland and BG&E sure are.
As always, I’d love to see more new deals but those three games are great and should do well.

    • Tylerh1701

All good games, but all repeats. Would have been nice to see I Am Alive pop in there (another Ubisoft game).

  • Lee Rayson

Major you should revert the comments back to the old stle it was much better.
Also will Joy ride be how it was meant to be like will we have to pay for better cars or will this be a full arcade game with DLc later on.

    • mcmax3000

It’s a full XBLA game instead of the free to play model that the original was going to use.

  • bdavid81

I have just over 7,000 MSP on my account. It’s been at that level since the Castlevania LoS DLC was on sale. It’ll be there for at least two more weeks.

  • McWetty

Joyride Turbo should be free after the bait & switch tactics for the last version. So much potential… squandered. Oh well, back to Trackmania.

  • Fernando Coli Viotto

Finally some good games at Deal of the Week! Although I don’t have a Kinect I’m anxious to grav Outland and Beyond Good & Evil HD! I will take a careful look at Might & Magic clash of heroes before taking it.

    Any one recommends it?

    • Hugoku

I do! If you like puzzle games like Puzzle Quest then this is right up your alley.

      • Fernando Coli Viotto

        Many thanks! :)

  • Robert M

Excuse me, but why is every comment being collapsed because of abuse? This is a STUPID SYSTEM and should be removed. I hate it when developers decide for me what to collapse. As for the deals… this is going to sound ungrateful, and perhaps it is, but I think I’m going to stop coming here. These aren’t deals. When they beat prices at GameStop, then we’ll talk.

    • Major Nelson

Re: Comments…I am checking w/ Disqus on this. They may have changed something on the back end.

  • Jason McLean

Honestly, will M$ wake up and gave the people deals that deem worthy, more dribble again this week and seems so next week also. Really starting to get sick of M$, at least SONY offers you FREE games within a month time limit on their deals. Time to jump ship me thinks. £40 per years for WHAT?.

  • Hugoku

Major, you really need to fix the comment system.

    • Major Nelson

I’ve got an email into the Disqus folks about it. They may have changed something on the back end. Can you guys let me know what you are seeing to be sure I make them aware of all the issues?

      • Antarael Dulacre

Well right now most of the comments are back to normal now just at the bottom are some people with different messages than the “abuse report” message it says: Comment score below threshold. Show this comment. now

        • Major Nelson

Yup…I’ve got the Disqus engineers looking into this.

      • Hugoku

        Thanks Major.
For now, it looks much better. Last time I checked, there were a lot hidden comments due to “abuse”, and yet had high score.I see a couple that are hidden, but now due to low score which is fine I guess.

      • Tylerh1701

Looks much much much better than last night. I’ve only seen 2 collapsed comments so far today, and both DESERVED to be collapsed!

  • Sneltje

LOL the Forza Motorsports 4 Porsche Expansion Pack for just 560 would be sweet.
    Unfortunately it’s 1600 points.
Now I hope your right Major and the rest is wrong!

  • Bobby Farmer

again another epic fail for dotw. Thank you Playstation Plus for giving gamers what we really want and thats free games and good deals. Who ever is in charge of marketing for xbox doesn’t know what they are doing

  • ElektroDragon

Max Payne 3 Pass way too expensive at $30.

  • Mythical Wolf

  • Jim E. Rustler

I was never going to spend a penny on Joy Ride Turd-bo anyway, but by jove you’ve managed to betray us TWICE with that game now you bunch of bloody shysters.

As for the deals… eh, I dunno. They’re not _bad_ per se, but they just seem incredibly underwhelming. Kinect games don’t apply to me and there’s a lot of repeats there in the other sales. Some of which whave been cheaper previously! What’s with that!?

I’ll probably be picking up Fusion Genesis as I don’t have that yet, and those of you who don’t have Trenched- er, sorry, Iron Brigade should certainly pick that up plus the DLC.
I think this is start, it’s notwhere near as good as we should be getting, but it’s a step in the right direction.

  • CJ

Wasn’t the first Joy Ride supposed to be free before it was delayed for Kinect support? Why did i hope the same would be for Turbo?

    • Jim E. Rustler

Because we were naïve enough to forget that Microsoft is Microsoft?

      • Décio Gonçalves

    • mcmax3000

      Because you weren’t paying attention?

It was announced as an 800 MSP game when it was announced.

  • Shaun Moore

When is the batman costumes and marvel update suppose to show up?

  • MathiaS

Ok, I won’t bother with DotW anymore (that Ubisoft sale was done like 3 months ago… Repetitive…), but there’s something about the MS sale that I will say after seeing the list:

After we spent at least 15 bucks on Arcade Next (I bought Trials Evolution full price and Minecraft, only because I won a 800 msp contest), you throw all these sales together? Don’t get me wrong, I love that people can get Castle Crashers, Orcs Must Die and Trials HD, and I’ll personally be able to buy Trenched once and for all, but why now? Why not next week? What if someone’s (for some reason) happy to be able to grab some of those Kinect games, but wants really badly some of the other classic games? I know it’s a business, but there’s no middleground for you. Either you offer CRAPPY sales for 2 months straight, or you offer GREAT sales for one week after you know most people bought something on A-Next, and with big games like Max Payne coming…

I don’t know, I’ll try to get Trenches now, but I don’t know if I’ll have enough money.

    • FinderKeeper

The spacing could be better, but I’m not going to criticize when they put good games on sale for half-price (I don’t know if Iron Brigade (aka Trenched) has been on sale for half-price before.

  • ryder4life22187

thought Joy Ride Turbo was gonna be a retail release. No kinect support either guess ill pass they should have worked on the controls for the kinect for first one before you make another one

    • mcmax3000

I disagree. As much as I like Kinect, Joy Ride is not a good fit for Kinect.

Making it a controller based game is a HUGE step in the right direction.

  • WillRon

That Microsoft Sale and Kinect Arcade sale is perfect timing for me right now! Same thing happened with the Tom Clancy sale last week.

  • Zack Wood

Question: when i have a game, installed from disk, sitting on my harddrive, what happens when i purchase said game from Games On Demand? Still need to download it or will it just unlock?

    • Antarael Dulacre

Need to download it, GoD Title =/= Disc Game

      • Zack Wood

what a bummer…but thanks for the answer.

    • QuixoticRocket

You still need to download it as far as I understand it. The versions are slightly different and you don’t have the sort of file access to be able to update only the changed files (leaving installed content from the disc, which is likely to be the same between versions, intact).
Most likely you’ll just have to download the whole thing again.

  • Brad Hicks

Dragon’s Lair? No way! Totally picking that up.

  • TheRequiem95

Hooray Sonic 4! I’ve been meaning to pick up Outland, also, so I’m pretty happy right now.

  • Clattus

…………and gears 3 Raam map-pack 600 from 1200 as well as probably others. Seems that the “other” deals keep getting better. Just need to ignore the main deals and actually look into the “other” deals ;)

  • Cameron Porcaro

I’d totally buy Skyrim on Games on Demand if, 1) it was on sale on games on demand at launch, and/or 2) if it wasn’t 20 bucks more expensive than a disc copy.

If sellers like Gamestop that buy and sell used games are such a threat to the developers’ bottom lines, why in the world would Xbox make it less convenient to buy a Games on Demand copy? Surely I’m not paying 20 bucks in shipping or tax from Amazon, so why should I pay the Games on Demand premium?

    • mcmax3000

Because if they undercut the stores with Games on Demand prices, the stores will get angry and they still need the stores to sell their hardware & accessories so they can’t risk angering the retailers.

      • QuixoticRocket

        Agreed with mcmax3000.
Games on Demand is a luxury service for convenience. It’s for when some friends come around and you need to get that fighty game “all of a sudden”. It’s just like going to a late night convenience store to buy milk. It’s cheaper at the supermarket but if you want it _now_ then you have to pay a little extra for it,
The real retail is still disc purchases from the stores (who do a better job with sales).
MS _could_ release digital purchase along with physical purchase if they really wanted to but it’s not a model they want. There are pros and cons with pushing the digital sales and Xbox currently sits somewhere in the middle, pushing Arcade for the digital pros and disc purchase for the physical pros.

        • mcmax3000

I think it’s a model that they (as well as the publishers) WANT, it’s just a matter of them figuring out the best way to do it for their business to ensure that everyone is happy.

  • metallicorphan

Dragon’s Lair,i must of paid for that damn game about a dozen times, last time i got it,it was as a DVD game that came free with a magazine

  • Z4M0

Iron Brigade / trenched @ 50% OFF instead of the disgusting 33% price drop and Fusion Genesis for 400 msp should be enough to make people stop whinning for at least a week. Lots of stuff discounted. Granted not everything is hot but enough to cheer up a bit instead of going on w/ complains… I remember when Trials Evo was released people complained about Trials HD not being discounted… now it is and noone rejoyces.

  • fsdfg dsfds

    dickride turbo

  • karma32

I really liked this weeks sales. Got Haunt, Happy Action Theatre, and Fruit Ninja Kinect, which are all games that are pretty enjoyable for the Kinect.

Would really like to see really good deals on full 360 Games on Demand titles, like we see on PS3 Plus…I absolutley hate the utterly crappy PSN network marketplace, but PSN Plus has given me much much better deals than Xbox Live Gold, plus free games to boot. Hopefully we’ll see better deals in the future from Microsoft.

  • Karl Cramer

If you have little kids and Kinect, you NEED to buy Double Fine Happy Action Theater. Especially at this sale price.

  • Major Nelson

I have had this blog since 2004 and prefer it for a variety of reasons. One is that it’s SEO and two it uses Disqus which is very robust and does not require you to create a site specific set of credentials.

  • DanielThibodeaux

    update mothe fucka
