You’ve probably been asked before, but why not list the developer and publisher of titles when you announce them on your blog?

  • TheDoveOfPeace

Can we get an E3 sale by any chance?

    • ElektroDragon

      Wrong console, son.

      • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

        lol!

      • TheDoveOfPeace

        Well that shut me up.

  • http://www.facebook.com/dubbe.youbeezy John Monzon

is that it damn atleast playstation 3 gave us 10 games and about 5 add ons for free last night for playstation plus members wow no wonder i retired the xbox may playstation live on oh and anything else you come out with will not compete with THE LAST OF US for playstation 3 awesome game

  • ElektroDragon

You mean we don’t get Virtua Fighter 5 for free? LOLOLOL

    • kingcrusher

And neither do you… end your sub… its gone… And I’ll gladly pay the XBox Live fees to avoid the network slow-mo my PS3 gets. I’ve got both, but there’s not competition. My PS3 is my netflix viewer and Blu ray player… that’s what it has turned into.

      • ElektroDragon

Funny, I have the exact opposite problem. My 360 is very sluggish while my PS3 is lightning fast. The dash ads and poor DRM implementation (does it really have to check my 200+ arcade games to make sure they’re not trials EVERY time I quit out of a game?) don’t help.

        • kingcrusher

I will agree with ya on the load time it takes because it checks your library EVERY time it exits out of something. That is a pain. But then that’s why we have both, isn’t it? To get the best of all worlds. At least we’ll never miss out on a AAA title on either system :-)

      • Russell Gorall

Another person who would rather have nothing than something?

  • Volitar Prime

I am interested in VF5 but after seeing all the DLC and total price for everything I wonder if it would have been better to release the “complete” game on disc instead.

    • http://twitter.com/ENich1 E.Nich

The complete game is 3.600 MSP. It hurts. Not too different of what CAPCOM is doing with SSF4 with the costumes.

    • TonyLN

Agreed, 100%. Was going to pick this up. But it should have been broken up into $5 for it without all the content, and $15 with all the content. As it it (and I may have done my math wrong) — It’s about $50 if you want everything… I just can’t support companies that have $5 DLC that should really be free… Or maybe $1 at the most.

    • http://twitter.com/w00dm4n Dubya w00dm4n

you could always pick up Street Fighter x Tekken.
it’s $60 and all the DLC Gems and costume packs cost more than the total of this game and it’s DLC.
You have another $20 for the DLC pack of fighters along with more costumes for those.

From what i’ve seen there is also going to be another set of costumes for all the characters as well.

the base game is completely playable and doesn’t require to costume packs unless you want to make your fighter pretty.

    • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

It could have been in Games on Demand instead of Arcade.
I bought all the DLC bundle packs for VF5 Final Showdown, treated it like a full priced game.
You can play as Ulala with Sarah customization, lol.

  • Russell Gorall

With Playstation Plus I got this for free, that seems like a better deal.

    • http://Panicgamer.com/ Jason

No, you rented it by paying 60 dollars for PS+

Again, people are confusing “rent” and “own” a lot in this thread

      • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

But if you “complete” the game and will never play it again and unsub… what’s to lose? That’s what people also seem to get confused about.

        • http://Panicgamer.com/ Jason

Fair enough, if people want to rent until they’re done with it and then not have access to it anymore that’s fine. Considering that Virtua Fighter 5 is still played regularly in the fighting community today 5 years after it’s original release I think it’s safe to say that not everyone follows the “rent it return it” mindset.

The notion that Sony gives any of their users anything is misplaced, it’s a rental service that also allows discounts on items during the rental period. One large problem with it is that if a user starts to rent a game and later it shows up on a sale they’re unable to buy it for the lower price because it’s currently being rented.

While Sony’s rental system is fine for some a lot of people want to own the games by either paying full price on launch or waiting until a sale. Renting with the problem I listed above as well as the inability to choose the rentals you want doesn’t make it an attractive choice for everyone.

I have no problem with anyone choosing the PS3 version of the game if they’re comfortable not being able to use what Xbox and Xbox Live provides. I prefer the environment that Xbox and Xbox Live gives me when I play mutiplats.

          • Flawless

ok well with XBL youre still paying but not getting any rentals….good “logic”

          • http://Panicgamer.com/ Jason

I also get to own the game, something users who rent this game now on PS3 can’t do.

Plus I take advantage of the things that Xbox has like achievements, the controller, and everything Xbox Live offers.

Again, I have no problem with people who choose to rent instead of own, there’s just too many other negatives for me personally to ever think of doing it.

          • Flawless

you say this as if PS3 owners dont buy games because they get free shit.

at least they are getting SOMETHING for their subscription price,we just get to play online for that price.

smh @ making me defend PS3 which i never play just because you are ignorant.

          • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

@Jason Fair enough, I respect your personal opinion.

For me, what I see almost every week on this blog, are people (rightfully) complaining about the abysmal DoTW offers, It also doesn’t help that Larry has said in previous posts that the blog comments “help decide the weeks sales”. But he rarely to never interacts with this community and ignores any feedback unless it’s positive, whereas the Sony blog is far more active and takes time to reply to people and answer their queries. But anyway, you get the people sticking up for MS saying “well they don’t owe you anything”.

With that logic, it’s the same for Sony, they don’t owe us anything. But they did give us something, and like MS could do (but don’t), Sony met at a compromise. You don’t keep the free games, you rent them for as long as you stay subbed.

Also, I personally use PSN+ because sometimes there’s a game I see on the store that’s “free” that I only had slight to moderate interest in and for that reason I didn’t purchase the game, but I can now “rent” it to play it. I will always purchase my games that have peaked my interest and that I’m hyped for. Except for occasions when they’re locking DLC on disc. In that case, I will buy it pre-owned so the developers receive no money from me, as a return to shafting the consumers.

On a side note: The PS3 have Trophies and better offers than XBL although the negative is that they only update once a week whereas XBL is more fluid in terms of updating content. And I agree the 360 controller is better.

          • ryder4life22187

i think Jason sums it up for the service. I would surely hate it if XBL had a similar service like PS+. I would rather own all the games on my console than pay that much for a service that allows me to rent. Just go out in get gamefly if you want to RENT so badly. And let’s see i get Deals of the week when i buy i own them forever which is good enough and i never pay more than 40 bucks a year for live

          • medveten

PSN+ or Xbox Live Gold, the difference in cost between the two is not that big, but the difference in what you get for your money is massive.
Live gold = online play, some crappy GTA IV DLC as “scam of the week”
PSN+ = free online gaming as always, themes, DLC, full games and lots of other stuff. If you get fed up, stop paying. If you want to play, just pay again when you feel for it. Last but not least, you could buy the game anyhow…

          • Russell Gorall

Wait. You would rather not have access to a full game for as long as you pay a subscription service? You get deals on PSN with Plus.

I really don’t understand how so many would rather have nothing than something. Cheers and happy gaming.

          • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

You poor cheapskate bastard, buy a game if you like it. Support the developers- buy games! Renting doesn’t keep the industry going.

          • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

Nor do those 3D glasses of yours.

          • Russell Gorall

Again, getting something added is a bad thing?

            Cheers and happy gaming.

          • Flawless

so youd rather pay the same as PS+ costs just to play online instead of getting rentals? LOL!

          • ryder4life22187

like i said i never pay more than 40 bucks for XBL how am i paying the same as i thought PS+ was 60 bucks a year

          • Flawless

PS+ is 50$ a year and MSRP on XBL a year is 60$,it doesnt matter what you paid because most people buy it at that price

          • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

PSN+ makes sense to newbie gamers who don’t know what they like. It gives them a chance to try a bit of everything for a monthly or yearly fee. GameFly says hi.

          • Flawless

            that makes no sense.

GameFly doesnt allow you to keep all the games you get until your sub is up(just like people who pay for XBL im sure they dont let it lapse anyway),you have to send them back to get more.

and in the past few months theres been arcade games that were day 1 free on it,is MS doing that for us? no,we pay just to play online.

it sounds ignorant to bash another system because they are getting more for their money than we are…yall sound like Xbox apologists,i used to be in the same boat to i realized the past few years we dont get anything other than online play.

oh and dont bring up that we get DOTW cause lets be honest its been the same deals over and over for months now.

          • Russell Gorall

That kind of reads like a Microsoft PR statement. Again, you are saying it is meaningless to get things, even “rented” things, for a subscription service.

You can write as many essays detailing your logic that nothing is better than something, it just seems like nonsense.

        • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

“and will never play it agan” ….. WRONG

          • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

Way to not know how to quote people. I said “IF YOU complete it and will never play it again” IF YOU, I repeat “IF YOU”. Understand now?
            Imbecile.

      • Russell Gorall

Way to stick up for the huge corporation that isn’t giving something away. You are confusing something good with nothing a lot in this thread.

        • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

PSN+ is simply GameFly on a PS3, but you don’t get to choose your games.

          • Russell Gorall

So, you would not rather be able to have that for Live? I mean, you are saying it is a bad thing.

If you are a Gold member you get free “rentals” of five different games every month… this would be tragic, correct?

          • AdaptorLive

Don’t change the subject. People are simply pointing out to you that PS+ is NOT free, unless you think 60 dollar isn’t money. They’re not ‘giving’ you anything for ‘free’. You are PAYING to RENT games. Is it getting through now?

PS: Nobody is saying anything bad about PS+ so there’s no reason to feel like you have to defend it. It’s a good deal but nothing is FREE.

          • Russell Gorall

When did anyone, including myself, say that Plus was free? The Plus service isn’t sixty bucks, that is MS’s price. You are PAYING to NOT RENT games. You are giving money to rent out the Interweb for mere milliseconds, you don’t own the Internet. Al Gore does.

I am comparing the Sony subscription service to Microsoft’s, you get something for “free” with the sub from Sony. No reason to get upset about someone getting something for “free”, even though I also have to pay my ISP to get it. So, it definitely isn’t free.

I have never seen forum users so upset about the linguistics of the word “free”. I got a NCAA demo early with Gold for free, YET, that actually costs me a Gold subscription. Actually, I had to buy the console first. And my controller broke so I had to buy another one and electricity costs a little.

            Cheers and happy gaming.

          • AdaptorLive

(edited my comment to be more reasonable…)

In a way we’re arguing semantics here but to be honest the meaning of free is not paying for something, no two ways about it. You’re paying for PS+ so you’re paying for the games that come with it. You don’t get the games for free like you said in your original comment. That’s equivalent to me saying that I get free multiplayer on Xbox Live and in my mind the subscription fee is only for the use of party chat. It doesn’t make sense. PS+ isn’t a bad deal. I simply don’t get why you, and other people, keep talking about free games when they’re clearly part of a paid subscription.

          • Russell Gorall

            Okay?

          • AdaptorLive

            I’ve changed my comment.

          • Russell Gorall

You realize I am just going to triple change my comment? Then you will be really sorry.

          • AdaptorLive

            Not worth it…

          • Russell Gorall

That is hilarious you dissected what was supposed to not only sound, but actually be, complete nonsense to get a point across about getting something extra may just actually be a good thing. Just trying to get the most out of my money.

            Cheers and happy gaming.

  • ryder4life22187

used to play Virtua Fighter Remix on the sega saturn will trial this to see if this still holds up

    • Russell Gorall

Or you could just play it all for free, except a lot of people hate that.

      • http://twitter.com/Xbudz Xbudz LIVE

How is paying $15 a month free.

        • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

@Xbudz Ignorance is bliss right? It’s $15 for 3 months get your facts straight.

        • Russell Gorall

You seem either an MS bot paid to post on forums by MS or just a huge MS fanboy that would try telling you black is white if it made Xbox look better.

          • AdaptorLive

You are the one who keeps insisting 5 bucks a month is free. Please explain where the logic is in that?

  • Hugoku

Aside from all those snarky free-on-some-other-service comments aside, i’m just honestly distressed by the loss of Quest mode. I think that is a deal breaker for me.

    • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

Read the FAQ, snarky is encouraged! Well… sorta =

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Jim E. Rustler

PSN has a “complete” edition of VF5FS for £20/$30, yet to “complete” it on XBLA you need to spend (at least) £30/$45.
Not fair, release a Complete Edition for 2400 or halve the price of the DLC and we’ll talk.

  • http://twitter.com/DjFIL007 Philip Pack

I don’t like the always on the nitro button style game play. It’s really too bad, because I like almost everything else about the game.

  • barry hansen

Sold my PS3,it got old.Metal gear 4 was fun.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. It’s been a while since I played Virtual Fighter and with the 1200MSP price tag, along with the 400GS attached, has me wanting to buy. I’ll deffo be adding this to my arcade collection soon.

  • AdaptorLive

    Thought process of PS+ fanboy:

Fanboy: “Sony is giving us these games for free!”
Reasonable person: “You’re renting the games”

    Fanboy:”But they’re still free!”
Reasonable person: “You’re paying for PS+”
Fanboy “So you’re saying getting these games is bad deal?”
Reasonable person: “Just saying you’re paying for them”
Fanboy “So you wouldn’t like this for Live?!”
Reasonable person “Just saying the games are not free…”
    Fanboy: “But.. but…”
    Reasonable person: “…..”
