Xbox changes strategy for gamescom and TGS

As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday, along with other entertainment experiences. We’ve changed our approach a little, though. This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world. Which means that as you might have seen on some of the news sites today, we won’t be taking part in gamescom or Tokyo Games Show this year.

Both are still  important shows for the industry, and we do wish the organizers well.

guess they will have own event for that(next box announcement)

  • Kasey

What I read ‘We’ve shown everything we’ve got in store for you and to save even more money we’re not bothering with tradeshows, don’t forget to click the ads!’

  • mnemo70

Microsoft, you’re doing it wrong. It’s no wonder that Xbox 360 is losing against Sony in Europe and especially in Germany. Everything is much too US-centric with Xbox. At least Sony has blogs for the UK and Germany. And then Xbox Inside gets cut. Bad moves!

EDIT: You read Sony, you vote negative? I’m an Xbox fan, ppl. Jeez!

    • http://twitter.com/outside05 Robert Cech

Als ob Sony so besonders im deutschsprachigen Raum wär.

      • mnemo70

At least they TRY. I’m a Sony hater, but I give credit where it’s due.

Europe and Germany? people actually care about those places? Really? Didn’t know much mattered out of the US to be honest.

      • Jay Towie

lol where’s Europe? Is it in Texas somewhere?

  • Steve Donaghy

So what, Microsoft has given up on games completely then?

  • Thomas Reichhardt

    Nothing to show,eh?

  • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

Fair enough. Didn’t expect anything new apart from a couple trailers anyway.

  • TheDoveOfPeace

“As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday”
    cracked up there

    • http://twitter.com/Beasty_Drummer Morgan W

      Me too hahaha!

    • Jay Towie

Yeah I must have missed that conference where they showed them off!

They simply don’t have enough games to take with them for a major player imo.

I mean come on – another Halo, another Forza, another Fable, another Gears, another Dance Central… Where on earth is the NEW content, the new IP’s?

  • http://twitter.com/karlcramer Karl Cramer

With the internet multiple trade shows displaying the same info shown at other shows have become less important to bigger companies. Apple doesn’t do Macworld anymore, just their WWDC for example

  • http://www.facebook.com/tim.craven.58 Tim Craven

What they ment to say was. our e3 confrence was complete rubbish and to save everyone the agony of sitting through another 1 at gamescom we wont bother attending. lol

    • Corellianrogue

Microsoft’s E3 conference was a bit disappointing but did you see the others? Microsoft actually announced more unannounced games than the others! (Gears Of War: Judgement, Ascend: New Gods, LocoCycle, Matter and Dance Central 3.) They should have dropped Usher and EA Sports’ presentation (they didn’t deserve it since all they did was lazily tack on voice commands to FIFA 13 & Madden NFL 13 rather than having full Kinect controls) and shown far more Kinect games instead. (They didn’t even show Crimson Dragon! :( ) They also should have shown their Summer Of Arcade 2012 trailer during the conference rather than releasing it quietly afterwards as well as shown more of the amazing XBLA games due out this year. (Why didn’t they announce Avatar Motocross Madness at the conference when it was actually playable at the show? :/ And where the hell was Class 3???!) It was a pretty disappointing E3 in general though with very few new games (as in new announcements) from any company.

Edit: I forgot a big one: RYSE!!! Please don’t delay it again until next year Microsoft! :(

      • Russell Gorall

You mentioned Lococycle. I have been telling everyone that who needs Last of Us when you have Lococycle. The Kinect controls with games I never use will be awesome.

I would like to talk to you all about Lococycle more at some point, MS should just open the next E3 with it. Game changer.

  • http://twitter.com/darkap89 Ruben Trasatti

Thanks Microsoft. For a time I decided to go to Koln for the Gamescom :( The only good VG event in Europe. Thanks, really.

  • http://www.facebook.com/Sh0tGuN92 Alessia Andrea Bellitti

Just a thing: ARE YOU CRAZY?? People come from all the world to see the Microsoft’s titles! REALLY, this is the most stupid thing that i ever heard.

  • SecondClassCitizen

So, ship is sinking or games don’t matter? At least there’s no doubt now that European market is meaningless to Microsoft.

Not that there ever was any doubt about that, this is just an official confirmation of that fact. We pay the subscription price without any available discounts US gets and they reap the benefits. Next gen seems to be a playground of Sony

    • http://twitter.com/DavidDDavidson5 David D Davidson

Blame Phil Harrison, the ex-Sony executive…

  • http://www.unscripted360.com/ Deacon

well this bodes well for peeps like me :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Guild/653259877 David Guild

Great move no really great move. Not the best and “solid” line up at E3, inside xbox is cut and now this … anything else ….. is our subscriptions going up too?

  • Stef Man

It’s said that Microsoft stock dropped after E3 Expo, same with Sony and Nintendo! Don’t want another drop now. ;-)

  • Jason King

Xbox shows once again it is totally not interested in anything other than America. The past 2 E3’s and the overall recent strategies of leaving core gamers behind with just scraps has made up my mind about where I’ll be going for the next-gen.

    • http://twitter.com/NoBullet NoBullet

You’re incorrect. They dont care about videogames anymore.

    • Nick Piekarski

You guys sound as smart as Miller up top. You need to see the bigger picture here. We are in that odd phase of old gen / “almost” at next gen. There are some big games coming but why spend money at these shows to show the same stuff again like everyone else will be doing?

Nintendo? yah, all of the games you want WONT be out until a year after the system comes out so have fun waiting with pikiman lol. Sony? The Last of Us is the only game worth talking about as they showed jack in the first party department as well.

      • Eric Brandt

While you are right, I think that you fail to see the even bigger picture…. I mean, there was a reason that the Coliseum was a roaring success during the Roman Era.

People are violent, stupid, and love nothing more than watching things destroy one another. Then they complain about what they would have liked to see changed afterward.

      • Corellianrogue

The Last Of Us isn’t even coming out this year either. There are actually more Xbox 360 exclusives due out the rest of this year (and possibly still more even if you include the previous 6 months of this year) than PS3 exclusives (at least in the West, there could of course be loads more PS3 games that are Japanese only) but for some bizarre reason Microsoft aren’t exactly shouting about them yet so most people think that there are more PS3 exclusives. :/

        • Devon Edwards

–The Last Of Us isn’t even coming out this year either

Perhaps, but it’s the only exclusive that anyone cares about.

      • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

“they showed jack in the first party department as well. ” Sure… why not.

      • Russell Gorall

The Last of Us is a MAJOR AAA title, though. While it won’t be until next year, I would much rather fondly myself thinking of that than the conversion of more Microsoft first party stuff into yearly franchises.

Beyond is pretty interesting, too. I would rather hear about a couple new IP’s than anything but Lococycle, because Lococycle is the future.

  • Devon Edwards

“Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions” — In other words, “We’ve got jack to talk about”

    • Corellianrogue

Actually they’ve got loads to talk about but for some reason they’re not talking about them. :/ At the very least they should be talking about Crimson Dragon, Ryse, Class 3, Avatar Motocross Madness, Charlie Murder, Happy Action Theatre 2 and Kinect Sesame Street TV & Kinect Nat Geo TV right now just to name a few. (OK, they’re talking about Kinect TV a bit but not at this year’s E3 and they did actually have Avatar Motocross Madness at E3 but didn’t reveal it during the conference or talk about it afterwards.)

Microsoft now have around 20 first-party studios currently making games, do you think they’re just sitting around twiddling their thumbs? Not to mention the third-party exclusives Microsoft are publishing. (Some of which I just mentioned.) There are (both currently released and due to be released) 36 non-Kinect Xbox 360 exclusives this year alone, (Including console exclusives that are also on the PC like The Witcher 2.) but most people don’t know that many of them even exist! I seriously hope Microsoft show off their new stuff, especially for games (and projects like Kinect TV as they’re not “games” in the same way as the others are) that will be released this year, at various Microsoft events if they’ve decided not to go to Gamescom or TGS. Hopefully the third-parties will still show off plenty of Xbox 360 games at Gamescom & TGS though.

      • Devon Edwards

–“Microsoft now have around 20 first-party studios currently making games, do you think they’re just sitting around twiddling their thumbs?”

        Good point…let’s reflect:

–“Crimson Dragon, Ryse, Class 3, Avatar Motocross Madness, Charlie Murder, Happy Action Theatre 2 and Kinect Sesame Street TV & Kinect Nat Geo TV”

Answer: DAMN RIGHT THEY ARE! LMAO – I can’t believe you actually thought it relevant to mention Happy Action Theatre and Sesame Street. So what department of Microsoft do you work at? You guys need to stop drinking your own propaganda and get out of Redmond once in a while.

        • Jay Towie

I agree, employees in the corporate world get rose-tinted vision after a few years of being with the company and start to believe their own BS.

I feel that MS have really lost their way since the release of Kinect. Too much emphasis on non-gaming. Kinect sold a bucket load but where’s the games? Where’s the hardcore games? The new IP’s? What have they been doing for the last year and a half?

The argument that they have Sesame street in the pipeline is quite ridiculous imo. They should have hell of a lot more than that, especially considering they amount of human resources they have.

My gold subscription is remaining cancelled.

(Plus there’s still no new PGR!?!)

      • Russell Gorall

Why do you keep talking about Avatar Motocross Madness when the future of Xbox gaming is all about Lococycle? Happy Action Theatre 2 is obviously next gen, no console can handle it.

  • http://twitter.com/Kenny_Stubbs Kenny Stubbs

‘Both are still important shows for the industry,’

Just not important enough for MS apparently and neither is your EU consumer base.

Or is it that you had such a poor E3 you have run out of ideas

  • Nick Piekarski

You guys need to think a bit more here. Why bother with those shows right now? They have already shown most of what they wanted to at E3. Now, MS has some new ip’s cooking in the background along with a ton of new games. Where are they? In the oven for the next Xbox system, which they are NOT ready to spill the beans on just yet.

As for E3? Sure it could have been better but nintendo’s and sony’s shows sucked really bad. hope none of you are a vita owner lol, see all that coverage at E3? Oh no? Well they didn’t have any, but luckily they had a ton on the super cool looking wonderbook e-reader!!! idiots.

It’s better to not waste the money on these shows (yes, even MS has to pay bills and booth fee’s) when you don’t have any major announcements to make it worth even being there. There is a lot going on in the background for MS right now, so much that we don’t even have a clue as to what just yet, but know it’s all pointing to the next Xbox.

Plus, why announce any of that and kill sales for the current stuff that is still selling so well? It would be stupid to do that. Just be patient, there are reasons why they are doing things like this.

    • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

I agree somewhat with your first paragraph, but your second paragraph… :S

Sony’s and Nintendo’s presser did suck too, there’s no doubt. But atleast Sony shown some new Ip’s, unlike MS. Wonderbook? Well, you haven’t heard of smartglass or Kinect have you? Stealth troll harder next time, K? Good boy.

      • http://twitter.com/DJoe1899 N2O

isn’t twisted pixel’s announced at game is new ip?

        • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

It’s XBLA, PSN and XBLA are full of new ip’s. I mean retail title’s.

          • Corellianrogue

A lot of XBLA games, especially recent ones, are now the same as retail games. (Probably the same with some PSN ones too, although Sony themselves don’t seem to have announced many Sony published PSN games this year.) Trials Evolution and Minecraft anyone? Also how about Crysis 1, does that not count as a real videogame since the console versions are dowload only? So at least some XBLA games are absolutely counted as significant new IPs. And why don’t you count Kinect games? I’ll tell you what, you keep on counting out Kinect in 2 or 3 years when ALL next-gen Xbox games will use Kinect in some way and see how that works out for you. I’ve got a feeling you’ll be “left at the station”. :p

      • Nick Piekarski

Stealth troll? Moron. It’s a comment, so what is the issue? I though smartglass looked great and can add a lot to games. I have a smart phone and a tablet so it will be great to see everything that comes out with it.

Had a kinect, mostly for the kids but traded it in a few months back as it just sits there and I really don’t care about voice recog for anything. I’m happy with a regular old controller in my hands to play games with.

Good boy? On summer break kiddo?

  • http://twitter.com/NoBullet NoBullet

Microsoft cant attend these shows because they contain the word “game” in them.

    • ElektroDragon

      BURN!!! lol

  • http://twitter.com/dibils dibils

makes no sense, you had one of the best years in terms of profit yet you change strategy?? seems like a case of if it aint broke dont fix it

  • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

Well to be honest I don’t mind! Most of the games to be presented there will also be released for multi platforms, so it already includes 360, and about 90% of them will be better on the Xbox version anyway, it is almost like a standard.

What is sad is not seeing any exclusive being add to the shopping cart in the near future, though I think that exclusives are going to die anyway since no one wants to release AAA titles and have just a “fair” market to sell it.

Anyway, bring us something incredible for Smart Glass still in this year and I will be happy :)

    • QuixoticRocket

Yeah. Looking forward to what they do with smart glass.

  • http://www.facebook.com/EdwardceltWalsh Edward Walsh

    wow really what a joke

    • http://www.facebook.com/aidan.mullis Aidan Mullis

Oh my god ok guys explain to me why Xbox should get a new generation console if they apparently gave up on video games. Do you know how much money Microsoft would lose making a new console? Probably billions in a year. Thirdly, since when did xbox give up on video games? They had the most games to present this E3. Also tell me what would the next generation Xbox bring us? More apps? A few better quality upgrades to our gaming? Xbox 360 upgrades twice a year. They can do anything with the xbox 360 whenever they want. There is no need for any other console except a better kinetic that is it. And Sony won’t have a ps4 either. You seriously think after losing 10 % of their company would inspire them to lose even more money than they already have? Most of you guys are too dumb to see what is actually going on.

  • http://twitter.com/_CelsoMarques A luta Continua!

Of course she will not go … she does not have more games to show.
already showed in the E3, HALO4, Horizon Forza and Gears of War: Prequel!
that remains to her? … App’s for LIVE?
App’s is not the focus of these fairs, which are for games and this shows in fairs electronics!

  • http://twitter.com/benwallis Ben Wallis

    R.I.P. Xbox :(

I’m glad I already cancelled my XBL Gold subscription in January.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lk-Kolz/100001381613969 Lk Kolz

Aww, you poor bro? get off the welfare and you can actually afford subscriptions. It’s the in thing now a days and you know how you tards love to follow the in thing. L2earn money brah.

      • medveten

Get off the couch and back to school and you might learn a thing or two, bro. Like spelling, or simply why paying for free features is stupid, why give away money for nothing?

      • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

Look who it is. My old friend Lk Kolz, the same guy who has no RL friends, the same guy who spends his every moment on Xbox, because he has no friends to do things with. Naw… Don’t worry LK you’ll find friends with a name like that soon. You’re a 32 year old with nothing better to do then call people ‘poor’. You sad sad, neglected man.

      • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

What? How does that make him poor? If he finds no value in the service, why waste your money? I think you have some mental issues, or do not understand how these things work. Your life or living quality is probably poor, so you take it out on others to compensate.

    • Russell Gorall

You are going to miss out on Lococycle gamerpic giveaways.

  • ElektroDragon

Makes sense, since you hardly have anything exciting to show off until Xbox 720. Once sequels start hitting # 4 on every game, they rather cease to be exciting. I mean, it’s not like you’re that “other” company that wastes its time with brand new, exciting IP at the end of console cycle, right?

    • Corellianrogue

Yeah, Sly Cooper 4, Ratchet & Clank 5? 6? I’ve lost count. Plus the Jak & Daxter Collection which is the PS2 trilogy remastered in HD for the PS3. Then there are spin-offs like LittleBigPlanet Karting and Super Smash… oops, I mean Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. Sony sure are milking their IPs aren’t they?!

      • ElektroDragon

So wrong you are. Last of Us, Ni No Kuni, Beyond: Two Souls… all better than everything in the upcoming MS roster, sadly.

  • http://twitter.com/senote andrew senote

I can understand why they’re not going to TGS, I doubt the 7 xbox owners in Japan will mind, but Europe is a big market and as others have already said it’s just another sign that anywhere outside of the US will always be considered second class citizens to MS.

  • Quaranj

First CES, and now both of these? What is going on? Reduction of staff (IX team), what next?

Whomever is steering this new direction is pointing off a cliff.

    • Corellianrogue

It’s sad that they cancelled Inside Xbox but they’re not reducing employees, the opposite is true as they’ve created a few new studios as well as buying Twisted Pixel and Press Play.

  • TheJoker360

You aint going to Gamescom or TGS because you have no f###ing games to show. Xbox is all about FucKinect and Entertainment. MS have killed the Xbox brand.

    • Corellianrogue

If you don’t like Kinect then you don’t really like videogames and aren’t a core gamer. Another way I can tell you’re not a core gamer is that you obviously don’t know about most of these 36 (non-Kinect) exclusives that are either already out or due out this year:

      Akai Katana

      Alan Wake’s American Nightmare

      Anomaly: Warzone Earth

      Battleblock Theater

      Charlie Murder

      Class 3

Dungeon Fighter Live: Fall Of Hendon Myre

      Dust: An Elysian Tail

      Fable Heroes

      Forza Horizon

      Halo 4

      Happy Wars

      Joy Ride Turbo

Kung Fu Strike: The Warrior’s Rise

      Laika Believes

      Lives And Death

      Mark of the Ninja

      Miner Wars 2081

      Phantom Breaker

      Serious Sam Double D

      Sine Mora

      Skulls Of The Shogun

      South Park: Tenorman’s Revenge

The Incredible Adventures Of Van Helsing

      The Splatters

      Trials Evolution

      Unstoppable Gorg

Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

      • ElektroDragon

Aside from Fez, Witcher 2, Trials, and Joyride Turbo, it’s all pretty much trash.

      • Russell Gorall

      • DanoTheOverlord

“If you don’t like Kinect then you don’t really like videogames and aren’t a core gamer.”

I am looking forward to a couple of those games (and I do mean a couple), but the Kinect is garbage. If I want to play Wii, I’ll turn Nintendo’s console on to do so. By your logic, I assume that all PC gamers are ‘non-core’ since Kinect is a Xbox 360 peripheral.

I get it, you guys in the MS marketing department need to backpedal a bit on your inability to highlight the right things at E3, but don’t go insulting those of us who see the Kinect as destroying the only hardcore console out there. (I also see that you are very eager to do your job. Kudos!)

However, since I am one of the unwashed masses who loathe and revile the Kinect which makes me a ‘non-core gamer’, enlighten me. How will Kinect expand my experience of a game beyond having me yell at my TV when my kids are trying to sleep (e.g., Skyrim) or have me jumping around my house to control the game (e.g., ‘hardcore game’ Kinect Adventures)?

  • TheJoker360

MS need to sack the morons in charge, because these idiots have ruined Xbox. For starters get rid of Don Mattrick he is a total embarrasment to Xbox. Bring back Peter Moore.

  • http://twitter.com/pannekoken Alex

This is a very reasonable action on party of Microsoft.

Because the last thing you want as a company who sells products and experiences is people (customers, not press) ACTUALLY getting hands-on with new stuff.

Nice job whoever decided this. You are a corporate moron. Way to treat your customers.

    • TheJoker360

It was probably Don Mattrick or Major Nelson that decided it. They could not careless about their customers.

      • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

Nope…it was not me. I am the messenger in this case. Even if it’s news you may not want to hear, I want to be as transparent as possible.

  • http://twitter.com/warregubbi W.G.

There was NOTHING impartant on E3 that was Xbox-related… I hope that you guys will give us a new Xbox next year…

  • LarZen

Xbox360 has realy lost it’s momentum…..hope Microsoft with the new Xbox that is coming wil bring it’s focus back to the reason most people bought a Xbox…the games.

  • TheJoker360

Major Nelson, the Next Gen Xbox needs to focus a total of 100% on games, no Kinect, no gimmicks just games. Entertainment okay as long as it does not get in the way of games. The Xbox should be a games console not a media hub. Im really angry towards MS because of the shift from core gamers to Kinect/Entertainment.

    • Corellianrogue

Kinect 2 NEEDS to be bundled with EVERY next-gen Xbox. Kinect (and obviously Kinect 2 when it comes out) is the future of CORE videogames and some lazy developers and “intellectually challenged” gamers need to understand this. Microsoft should be leading with core Kinect games too so they’re guilty of not using Kinect to its potential as well. The only people who make the ridiculous claim that you can’t make core Kinect games are people who don’t even know what core games are (especially since there are already quite a few core Kinect games, just not enough unfortunately) and are too stupid and skill-less to play Kinect games properly which is why they’re always going on about “flailing” since they themselves flail rather than actually perform moves correctly like us core gamers do.

      • ElektroDragon

” Kinect (and obviously Kinect 2 when it comes out) is the future of CORE videogames” Wow, you are seriously deluded.”and are too stupid and skill-less to play Kinect games properly” Wow, that’s hilarious, considering Kinect games were made for the stupid and skill-less. Too bad you need a football field size clear space to use it. Glad I got my Kinect free or I would never have bought it. Only game that works well on it is Fruit Ninja.

      • TheJoker360

Kinect 2 needs to be binned idiot.

  • http://twitter.com/OldeManWintre Matt

Microsoft seems to really be focusing on the “entertainment” aspect of Xbox and Xbox Live. It’s unfortunate for those of us who have spent a lot of time and money on the Xbox for it’s primary use…..video games.

I am (was?) a huge Xbox supporter, but Microsoft keeps making it more difficult for me to get behind their product. If they want to transform the Xbox into a media hub, more power to them. Good luck trying to get the casual crowd to spend $60 a year for a Gold account.

I’ll find another way to get my video game fix because Halo, Gears, Forza and third party games are not enough for me to keep supporting the brand. I still have hope, but that hope is fading fast.

  • http://twitter.com/StrikeSudden StrikeSudden

I am a little concerned about this new direction. I am so use to xbox being number 1. I think the new leadership is to blame. All of E3 was not that exciting.

  • LarZen

So many people concerned and not happy how Microsoft is handling the Xbox these days, I wonder if they read any of the comments around or even care? Would be realy interesting with a article with someone from Microsoft to talk about what they think about how the community is reacting to the path they have taken.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pete-Sands/1797036541 Pete Sands

lol Destructoid’s story on this post …. “blah blah”, bullshitted Microsoft.

  • Woody Lai

I’m a fan of Xbox for over 4 years, but I really disappointed it becomes a media hub more than a game console. And for the games line-up in E3 this year, Sony is much more attractive! They show what a game console should be!

    • Corellianrogue

All Sony themselves (as in games published by Sony) have announced they are releasing on the PS3 the rest of this year so far are:

Ratchet & Clank Collection (This is a collection of PS2 games.)

      Tokyo Jungle

      Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

      LittleBigPlanet Karting

      PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault

      Papo & Yo

      The Unfinished Swan

And possibly The Last Guardian but that might be delayed until next year.

The other games (God of War: Ascension, The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls) aren’t being released until next year.

      • http://twitter.com/GaussBb Bradley

I can see The last guardian possibly being a launch title for the PS4

      • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Yes, dunno, yes, no, no, yes, hell no, dunno, dunno, maybe, never gonna launch, meh, hell yes, meh.

Is Xbox dying? It sounds it!

  • Logic Squirrel

I don’t think Microsoft was watching the same E3 as the rest of us was, it had nothing that made me think xbox and xbox live was a viable platform anymore. It has been so long that i have touch the 360 now.. but at least posts like this are very entertaining lmao.

Here’s a thought – someone crawl up to Bill Gates, wherever he is, on hand and bended-knee, cap-in-hand and plead with him to train up a replacement for Ballmer.

This is like the time you changed your strategy from games to not games.

Shocked you are still doing game shows, now you are a second rate tv box.

It is pretty obvious the future is all about Lococycle, once you guys see gameplay you will understand.

Most of the first party stuff seems to be the yearly franchises. Microsoft doesn’t even care the newest Gears game isn’t being made by Epic, we just love this stuff.

Its no surprise MS is focused more on making the Xbox brand a media center, they don’t care about games or gamers anymore, if they do its honestly not being very gamer friendly.

E3 in general was terrible this year, but yet again for the third time in a row the MS press conference was nothing but a bunch of promotions for things not related to games. E3 WAS about games and the gamer culture, these companies have ruined this event and considering the trend its not going to get any better.

So its okay for MS not to show up in other trade shows, saves them money of course and also spares them the embarrassment for their lack of effort into first party titles and new IPs.
