In celebrating five years of Summer of Arcade, Xbox LIVE fans will get exclusive content for Minecraft: Xbox 360 and Trials Evolution.  On July 18 when the campaign kicks off, you can get a special, customized Summer of Arcade skin pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition exclusively by visiting the Summer of Arcade experience on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.  And, each week during the campaign you can download a free track for Trials Evolution, inspired by each new Summer of Arcade game release.  Even better?  It’s all free for all Xbox LIVE members.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

  • WHAT:  Get an exclusive free customized Summer of Arcade Skin Pack exclusively by visiting the Xbox LIVE experience on your Xbox 360 during the promotion.  The pack will contain skins for all five Summer of Arcade games.

Trials

  • WHAT:  Each week during the Summer of Arcade, you can download a free track for Trials Evolution, inspired by each new Summer of Arcade game release.

Summer of Arcade kicks off next week with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD

      Why? At least they aren’t charging for game updates so we get that one. I
      know on the PC you can create your own skins but I’m sure the would
      require too much work for the console. And they clearly said that this
      isn’t a port of the PC version but it’s own game hence the Minecraft:
      Xbox Edition.

        No i do think it awesome, creative thinking has went into them, i wish more games would take advantage like this. Pinball FX does it they make themed tables on other games.

        Well in fact RedLynx tracks are also free, but that isn’t to say they always will be. They’d be crazy not to do DLC expansions.

    I’m sorry but this is just pitiful; Steam has a sale going on now discounting top names games and lesser known titles from 50 – 75 percent off. Portal 2 for $4.99, COD MW3 for $29,99, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Mafia 2 for $7.49 just to name a few.

      To be fair, Xbox Live had MW3 for $40 a couple months back, and you can use that download on two Xboxes for system link play etc. You’d need to purchase two separate Steam copies to do that.

    Over at xbox? Well, you get a free skin pack and a free map for a game with map editor and tons of free maps. MS, you’ve done it again, soon you’ll start selling air too? :P
    Well I guess you shouldn’t complain, beggars can’t be choosers and given how “generous” (sarcasm) MS is, this “offer” is really mind blowing. Then again, MS knows that dated consoles and great steam sales makes gamers migrate to PC, leaving xbox for the casual Kinect fans, that won’t buy the 720.

      All I know is that when it comes time to choose the next console – I’m going to remember the past three years of:

      -Trying to remove credit card information.
      -US/CAD being on par but points not being.
      -All the ‘sales’, including the 2011 Christmas discount campaign which made me cringe.
      -The horrible customer relations.
      -Trying to be charged $8.99 for cable channels I already own.
      -All the games on demand digital downloads that cost more than retail brand new. I thought digital distribution eases cost because no employees, rent, transport, packaging, etc?

      I’ve never been so alienated with a company ever. I like my Canadian cell phone company better than Microsoft.

      I dont play much on PC these days, but after reading your post, I looked at those Steam deals and – other than the Portal 2 deal – I was unimpressed. Offering digital versions (of for the most part old or mediocre games) only slightly cheaper than boxed version in local store is rather underwhelming in my book. I dont really understand why would anyone buy any of those games from Steam outside those deals, if at all.
      That said, the Summer of Arcade is not about cheap games, its about new quality games. You should save this rant for some Deal of the Week announcement, because complaining about free promo stuff is not exactly nice.

    So this starts July 18th. Which means that to use the Minecraft Skins, we have to have the 1.7.3 update, which isn’t out yet and which has not had a date announced other than July. So can we expect the update next week? Or will it come on the 18th?

      Game maintenance is up to the developer, not Microsoft. Play better games (ie, not CoD) if you want a better online experience. Halo is an example of a multiplayer game that is constantly updated.

        I know Halo is great (well 3 is) I only play CoD WaW , not a CoD fan other wise, but it should be there responsibility if they continue to sell broken online games on GoD and its DLC , People are getting Deranked and cant even play online! its a joke

    Sadly MS must not read big forums like Gamefaqs or they would see even hardcore Xbox fanboys are saying they most likely will have nothing to do with the next gen Xbox because they are so disgusted with MS at this point.

    When I first said this years ago people said I was whining and MS wasn’t that bad. Gee guess I was right! I told people then you let MS rip you off and step on you, then its what they will keep doing. I told you so. >.<

    Lastly MS has made billions if not trillions since the computer came out. And yet people say "They n33ds 2 make th3 morz moneyz!!!". Really??? They have so much money they could buy a few countries at this point. And yet they can't even give us reasonable deals or GOOD free content like every one else is doing.

    MS is just as greedy as EA. So when these companies end up losing money then having to fire thousands of people they will have no one to blame but themselves! Money/greed is the root of all evil. Since they feel no real sympathy for us, the people that pay them, I feel no sympathy when I hear these companies have issues. I don't believe in karma really but MS will get back eventually what they gave out.

    Just dropping by to say “Steam got me US $ 70,00 so far and still still there are 5 days to get to the end of their summer promotion days”. So far my interest in all MS Summer Sale deals = ZERO.
