Dash Text: (Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB) Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is a downloadable title for Xbox LIVE Arcade that takes the best elements of the classic THPS games and gives them a fresh update to create an all new skateboarding experience. Tapping into fans’ muscle memories, the gameplay returns to controllers and focuses on the satisfaction of linking sick tricks for maximum points. Combining sharp visuals with the best controls ever in a Tony Hawk game, the feel is cutting edge yet timeless. The game was rebuilt and polished by Robomodo using Neversoft’s original code and includes the best seven levels from THPS and THPS2 (Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Phoenix, Hangar, Marseilles and Venice). There is a combination of new school and old school pros (Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, Riley Hawk and Tony Hawk himself) and the soundtrack is half classic THPS tracks and fresh ones. Multiple online multiplayer modes round out the action!

been waiting since 7 a.m. the only option available is rate, but on the dashboard it says available now. HOW AWESOME. when will it actually be available?

      Restart your XBOX?

  • Hugoku

Reading some early reviews, I can’t say I am anything less than underwhelmed.
Still, we can always try the demo and make an informed purchase.

yeah u can try the demo. all 80 seconds of it!!!

      • Hugoku

That sucks! What’s so wrong with giving us at least one level to try at our leisure?
Yeah, I know some people would have their nostalgia fill with that and not consider buying the full version. However, this shows a lack of confidence in their product.
Heck, Minecraft gives us like 30 minutes.

  • Lee Rayson

Downloading it now, but were to get the free skins or tracks for minecraft and trails?

  • Thânia Santos

I always tought “summer of the arcade” was about great (often indie) innovative, original, unusual, games to fill our summer vacation…. really? a HD remake of this old outdated game for the first game of SOTA2012 …. really???

  • Aron Ross

As sad as it sounds, i played the trial and this is almost one of those games that i wish i would have just left in my memories. Playing it now, it just feels way too outdated to get a great deal of enjoyment out of it……sad really, because i loved the original allot and was looking forward to the remake :(

Agreed – THPS worked then, but in my opinion this remake clearly shows the damage that Skate did to the franchise. Even the HD seems really jerky…and I’ve said it before but THPS is not THPS without splitscreen…

      • http://www.facebook.com/chris.grub.5 Chris Grub

Really? This is one of the best games I have ever played. There’s a few issues, but once you do the career mode and bring you character’s stats up it’s just like golden times.

very surprised at the shockingly bad trial that we have been given. seriously guys this trial goes for about 80 to 90 seconds. sure u can go back to the menu and keep doing it all over again, but even after trying that 6 times, ive decided that im not buying tony hawk. it feels like it could have used alot more polish. such a shame really as this is the only summer game i had my eye on.

i agree……. but it just might be that they have too much confidence for their product. i dont doubt that many people will buy this, but lets face it, if the trial actually had a whole playable level, or free roam on 1 map they would sell way more! this trial is literally in the top 5 worst trials ever on xbla! only a fool would deny this.
how many people would have bought BRAID if the trial faded away to nothing the second you picked up the first puzzle piece. INEXCUSABLE!

Worst trial ever, I take the time to download it only to get a black screen after 80 seconds? I was going to buy it if I got some actual time to play it but since I’m not allowed to I won’t be buying. Great marketing guys!

    • Hugoku

Well. I hated that too but found that hitting pause and then selecting retry was much faster than going back to the menu and then reload the level. Of course, you have to be on the lookout for the 30 second mark. And that doesn’t change the fact that you are not given a score so it basically ignores whatever you did in that level. It’s just not the same.

Thank you for not only putting this game on your platform but getting exclusivity as well. Though, I’d rather see the game come out on all platforms at the same time.

After playing the game – this is my favourite XBLA release of all time.

I’ve been so pumped for this since its announcement, but I’m genuinely disappointed now it’s here. I don’t know if it’s the trial, which isn’t even a full 2-minute level but 80-90 seconds of it, or the fact that nostalgia makes this game a load better in hindsight, or simply that I’ve moved past games like this – whatever the case, I don’t think I’ll be buying this.

The demo is short but so was the one for the original THPS.
The gameplay is pretty much the same as it was back in the day. That’s sold it to me, good fun, solid gameplay and no stupid gimmicks to get in way

  • ungeheier

I’m shocked at all the hate here. Either way, I bought this without looking at the trial.

I think one of the best things about this game is skating as my avatar. It’s a shame it’s not mentioned in the description or in any comments (so far).

    I’m loving THPSHD so far!!

    • http://twitter.com/evilother Tim Osborne

The hate is fairly typical for commenters here, I’m just shocked that the playstation plus bots haven’t started yet.

Got to agree with you on the avatar integration, I’ve spent much more time as me than I thought I would but I do miss create-a-skater

    • Dr4gOnsFuRy

You seem to be missing the point. Hardcore fans would buy it straight away like i did, those that are in two minds or those who never played THPS will play the trial and say “That’s not enough to make me buy or want the game” they will be left disappointed. 2:00 mins on the clock and you can only play 1:30 of it, it’s not enough, it’s a very bad trial.
It’s too short to leave an impression on someone.

      • http://www.facebook.com/chris.grub.5 Chris Grub

It would be awesome if I could just let people play my version with full stats and it would be instant buys all around.

It honestly reminds me of playing on the PS2 way back when on even the Dreamcast. The online especially.

The demo to be fair on both ends should be two or three, 2-minute time attacks round in the Hangar with your avatar who has 80% stats.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Randy-Ramsgate/1826021235 Randy Ramsgate

        perfectly said.

I love this title. I played the demo disc for the original Tony Hawk back in the day all summer long. It was a legendary demo that I still have fond memories over. This demo sucks hard.

  • http://twitter.com/Sumhydroponic38 David Shaffer

I bought the original a few weeks after it released, a few weeks later I broke in frustration because I kept messing up while going for high scores (I was young and stupid). Ended up purchasing the game two more times for the same reason. So glad I can enjoy it again without the option of pulling it from the disc tray and snapping it in half, even though I feel as though I can play the game without that urge arising. Instant buy for me, has some of my favorite levels of all time on the game.

  • ElektroDragon

If this were Tony Hawk 3 HD, I’d consider it. That was the best in the series. The original, not so much and certainly not FOR so much.

  • Socal71

It’s worth the $15.00. It’s definitely a fun game and with better graphics. If you’re a fan buy it, if not walk away. Just stop whining about the demo.

I agree about the length of the demo its pretty dumb to not let people experience the full 2 minutes. But on the other hand i used to play the original game on PS1 back in the day and after playing the demo for literally 2 seconds it brought back so many memories i had to buy it.
