Arcade, Avatar Marketplace, Deal, Xbox 360 Games On Demand By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

Nice, no deal for me (just a single DLC discount? WTF). This is the perfect excuse to get that indie game I kept my eye on.

  • http://twitter.com/yamayamayaamaa «-•·÷·- ¥ámá -·÷·•-»

Haha, the Major Nelson avatar items are cool. I hope you put them on your avatar Major!

  • http://twitter.com/MykeJayy Michael J

So it’s all DLC DotW for the next 2 weeks? I shouldn’t be surprised how bad these deals get but I do. Sorry but it’s awful.

  • http://twitter.com/AlexCWheeler Alex Wheeler

AC brotherhood discount looks pretty good, more of their stuff should be discounted

Wow Only 1 thing in Promotion this Week :s

    where is cold stream?

Is that it? Are you having a laugh?

    • Z4M0

      LMAO @ catchphrase !

  • http://twitter.com/SamboTaylor Sam Taylor

I know that this has been said many times, but the deals are insulting.

    • http://twitter.com/fantomena3 Benjamin

I agree. I have both Xbox LIVE Gold and PS+. I will give Microsoft 6 more months, or I wil cancell my sub. I don’t get anything from Xbox LIVE Gold. I live in Europe and even here we don’t get all those useless apps the US get. Why can’t Gold members get free games, awesome big discounts, automatically updates etc. like my PS+ user get? Why can’t Gold members get rid of all those annoying advertisments? The deals on XBLIVE Marketplace are laughable and are much higher on Steam and PS+. I don’t get anything from Xbox LIVE Gold, why? Steam and PSN are so much better than Xbox LIVE right now. So if Microsoft doesn’t do anything very special for us Gold members, youcan say goodbye to me when these 6 coming months are over!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Randy-Ramsgate/1826021235 Randy Ramsgate

and as long as the deals stay insulting we will all complain. microsoft u r pathetic.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mkozlowski980 Matthew Kozlowski

    WHERE’S COLD STREAM AT???

    • http://twitter.com/seancarliss Sean Carliss

Im stilll waiting for it too.. i tweetd nelson. no answer. nobody cares. i hate this. going insane.

  • http://twitter.com/chriswelch Chris Welch

Why not mention Left 4 Dead 2 and Rayman Origins? I’m seeing both of those as new offerings for Games on Demand.

  • twisted_poke

DOTW has become an absolute joke. The fact that MS touts it as a benefit for gold membership is nothing short of laughable.

    • Z4M0

to me, that I use to play local rather than online there isn’t much nowadays to keep renewing my suscription. It looks like being some years gold in a row is useless too. So I might not renew gold if that goes like this.

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

      PAY FOR A DISCOUNT.

      DON’T GET DISCOUNT.

  • MilkyTee

Deal of the WEAK, again, but I expected nothing more from Microsoft.

I hate to be that guy, but take a look at the deals PSN + members get. Same price as Gold for a yearly sub, but they get FREE games, massive discounts and a whole lot more in between.

What exactly do Gold members get? What are the benefits? We get to RENT our own internet for MP access. We get exclusive apps like YouTube and Netflix, that are free literally EVERYWHERE else. And we get one sodding piece of DLC slightly marked down for a week.

You’re not even trying to be competitive and you treat your customers like sh*t.

    • Z4M0

I won’t make any argument defending PSN+ ‘s business model, since I do not agree 100% with how the do thing but matter or fact, in 5 minutes I’ll be heading to a friends house.

To me this means I’ll be playing PS3 for the rest of the day. What does this mean to Microsoft ? I’d like to know but most likely, it’s nothing.

    • http://twitter.com/MykeJayy Michael J

Well I just checked the PSN blog (I put the link in another post but it needs to be approved) and all I can say is that they get the better deals/discounts by some margin.

    • http://twitter.com/originalgamster originalgamster

Yeah, it would be nice to get a 20% discount on new releases as a Gold member… I am both Gold and PS+, and Gold really needs to be more competitive. Still getting Deadlight though.

  • Z4M0

I somehow keep being exicet about DOTW even most of the time being
dissapointing ones (lately) I know sooner or later I end up finding
    something I wanted.

But we happen to be in promotion times (summer of arcade) so someone
decided to just put DLC as DOTW instead of ACTUAL GAMES so people will
throw their money at the new releases.

IMHO I would have taken almost any discounted game as I already finished
the last 4 XBLA I got from last month’s DOTW and, yet having huge
backlog I wanted something new (impulse buy). I think people out there
might be in the same situation, eager to buy ARCADE TITLES yet they
    don’t due poor deal streaks.

What you have achieved (concerning to me (I don’t know what others will
do) is not only I won’t buy anithing in two weeks, since 1 deal a week
(DLC that already have been discounted and I already have) feels cheap
and next week is again a batch of repeated deals, but not only that as I
WON’T BUY ANY SUMMER OF ARCADE title to reassert my stance against poor
deals to make ongoing promotions much appealing.

Last but not least, “special sale” is just a joke. Its target so narrow
(people don’t having kinect won’t bother with this, then people having
it but owning the game will neither… what’s left is a small group that
most likely won’t be interested at all in kinectimals) that it won’t
trigger almost any impulse buy and will make the rest of customers 90%
IMHO feeling like left behind by the company.

MS doesn’t have to offer deals (that’s argueable sinthe they HAVE to do
indeed if they wan’t to keep competing with other services out there)
but if they are doing, at least try not looking halfassed ones.

    Please.

I feel sad to have to state my opinions like this, but when you do
things in that fashion, reaction will be most likely complain-fashioned.

  • Hugoku

    Do not want.

  • Matt S

I’m VERY glad that my urge to game has died down almost to nothing because I honestly have no interest in any console anymore, especially the next Xbox. MS is so greedy I just have given up on hoping they might change. >.<

    • Z4M0

I know the feeling. They should try to make us willing to play and CONSUME stuff (games!) so they’ll make profit but they are exhausting people instead.

In the next two weeks I could have been putting more hours into gaming, that meaning I’d reduce backlog and thus making me buy new stuff. But the new stuff is so unispired (just sequels) and deals are so dissapointing I will spend the rest of my summer at some island in the middle of the atlantic sea, away from my console, tv, phone etc.

Cood for me, I guess. Sad for your gaming business microsoft.

  • Clattus

Only DLC deal of the week and for the next two weeks, really?…..o_0

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

And last week’s too don’t forget. Freaking Knives Chau DLC for Scott Pilgrim… and yet not the game itself (which is due a permadrop anyway). And RUSE but nobody cares about RUSE.

Whenever a game goes on offer the DLC should go on offer too and vice versa, the only reasonable exception is dropping the game’s price to promote new DLC.

      • Clattus

haha oh yeah that’s right, exactly :)

  • http://twitter.com/McStorm_ Jason

I have been and Xbox360 user since release day, my Xbox live runs out in 3 weeks, i WILL NOT be renewing my sub this time, what are the benefits/perks of gold, NOTHING, we still even have to put up with all the damn annoying advertisements on the clunky dashboard. All Microsoft care about is the money in their pockets, they have become so big they are now S*hitting on the people that put them there. Good Riddance!, i’ll come back when you appreciate your customers.

    • Z4M0

yeah… PSN isn’t giving away nothing as it’s more like rentals but hey… at least there is an INCENTIVE TO KEEP BEING PREMIUM. As long as you keep your suscription you keep the games.

There’s no reward at all for being GOLD without a break unless you count that lame, useless number in your gamercard.

MS might be overrating virtual stats (like achievements, or the said number stating how long you’ve been gold).

People wants actual things, and having a console it most likely would be games not apps and other stuff.

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Don’t forget it entites you to all those apps you don’t use!

      • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

        Zing!

  • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

Keep the feedback coming. Those who work on the ‘deals’ actually read these comments on a regular basis.

    • MilkyTee

That’s reassuring in a way, but people have been coming to your blog and moaning about the deals for a long time.
And they seem to be getting persistently worse.

It’s all well and good that they read the comments but acting upon them is another matter entirely. Again, the community feels like they are owed some good discounts at the very least, it is a “benefit” of being a Gold member.

    • Matthew Wright

I must say PSN and Steam have a gigantic jump on the Xbox Live Deals. There really wouldn’t be any shame in jumping on the bandwagon with them. Yes, the contracts and mounds of paperwork will make this difficult to happen, but if they can do it so can MS.

    • http://twitter.com/MykeJayy Michael J

To me it just seems like they don’t really try to at least get the majority of gold members to take up the offers available. There’s over 450 arcade games, close to 400 GoD games, well over 2500 indie games and god knows how much DLC is available and they only choose to discount 1 DLC this week. Just the one thing out of all available does seem pointless to me.

They’re arcade games and DLC going back to 2005 that have never been discounted (although I believe they should be permanently reduced). The marketplace seems very outdated in terms of pricing and I think people who have been gold for a number of years (including myself) are getting a little bit irked because it seems as though being gold doesn’t hold much value anymore.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Randy-Ramsgate/1826021235 Randy Ramsgate

well said. i have said many times and ill say it again. all xbla titles from 05,06,07,08 and maybe 09 should be half price permanently!

    • http://twitter.com/AlfZombie Alf Zombie

Feedback? They’re just laughing at our comments. Each week is worse.
Do not insult us into believing that we take into account

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

‘Deals’ he says in inverted commas…

    • http://twitter.com/Dorwrath Ω Jalil Purtow Ω

Maybe they should converse with us rather than just read. If they are reading it, it must be going in one ear and straight out the other as it’s clear everything everyone has said for months now isn’t listened to at all.
Every week you have people telling you these deals suck. Nothing gets done, nobody listens. You say they do, but actions speak louder than words and months later we are still getting deals that we have seen month after month.

      • McWetty

“Unsolicited feedback” is not welcomed at most companies. The only time a company will change is if another company does it better or if there is a lawsuit. At least in my experience this is true.

        • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

But other companies ARE doing it better and have been for some time, yet NOTHING has changed! If anything it’s got worse…

          • Z4M0

            ^ Quoted For Thruth

          • http://twitter.com/seekul Luke Es | sE ekuL

Yet “some time” is not in fact very long. 12 months ago the PSBlog was full of people saying that PS+ was not offering much value on its first anniversary of being a “rental service”. What kicked Sony into gear was the crisis of the service outage, and the general bad PR with the “Welcome Back” rewards which most people already had. They also lost a lot of customer trust purely from the breach and outage.
In the last 12 months is where PS+ has had the imperative to become a desirable service. They are turning their rental philosophy into a strength by renegotiating publisher contracts to say “your game is a freebie now”. Which isn’t something a publisher necessarily wants to do for EVERY platform holder that comes around, as it affects their brand.

Microsoft moves at the speed of Microsoft, which realistically means at the speed of lawyers. There was a time that DLC *didn’t get* discounted. There was a time we didn’t have “coming soon” advance notices of sales.
They are aware Gold’s value is diminished, they are aware the MSP currency isn’t fooling us anymore. None of that is going to evolve overnight, but a year from now the balance will have shifted yet again.

          • Z4M0

Ok, I agree 99%… but who could tell other than them how aware they are ?

If they were so aware of diminished value of GOLD why not offering it a tad cheaper ? does it involve lawyers ? neither does offering something trully special. It just take money.

You have kinect for two years and no game arround the corner. Go friggin pay gearbox or someone else to do some exclusives. Real games, new IPs no matter it’s kinect or not. It’s just “see that bag of filthy money ? you can have it if you make an exclusive for me. Period.

Things take time but as someone else said, once you lose a customer is hard to gain back its loyalty. Money speeds stuff up so surely it would be better move to invest on exclusives, new IPs or deals with publishers instead of wasting resources to have temporal exclusivity for DLC like COD’s, apps and stuff alike.

Simply put, If they really were aware of how pissed of people, sorry… CUSTOMERS are they’d stop on their tracks all the tablet integration and stuff like that and would invest on devs and publishers so they finally could offer stuff cheaper, even something (nothe the quotes) “free”.

I hope it wont take 12 months to see a glimpse of things changing about XBOX 360′s XBL service, and XBOX in general, cause I might not abandon my beloved system but my gold suscription (like many others’) won’t last that long and thruth to be said I’m seriously considering the next renewal.

Glad to read your comment tho, was very insightful

    • http://profiles.google.com/dfpg86 Décio Gonçalves

Do you guys know that awesome movie called “Memento” and that meme from that movie? Yeah, put Major Nelson photo above the “Don’t belive his lies”…

For YEARS that Microsoft has been doing this, and by this i mean EVERYTIME that a Summer/Spring/Winter/Whatever of Arcade is made, ALL those weeks have crappy deals so that people focus in the arcade games that are being released.

How many times have Major said “Keep the feedback coming”? HOW MANY? Has it even changed something? The answer is NO. You’re an IDIOT if you belive him/them, sorry to insult “you” but it’s true, just check the facts…

Another thing, why make a daily deal for Games on Demand US only? Why isn’t anything about it here? Is it so that us Europeans can’t complain about? Tsk tsk, i’m not one of those guys that will cry and say “F-U M$, i’m gonna sell my xbox 360 and buy PS3″, nope, i know that doesn’t work, i already gave my money to Microsoft… But next gen, ha, you wont get me, that’s for sure…

    • McWetty

I’m not sure which is more insulting… a.) The constant stream of crappy deals and worthless Gold status or b.) Knowing that the “Deals Team” is reading this and not doing anything about it.

If I hadn’t already redeemed a number of gold sub cards (putting me out to April 2013), I’d have cancelled Gold a long time ago.

    • http://www.facebook.com/LSUrocks Joel Hulsey

Everything about these “deals” is completely insulting. My XBL gold account is about to expire and quite frankly, there is zero incentive to renew it. But there is no way I am letting my PS+ account expire! They have actual benefits! I’m sure Microsoft won’t miss me, but I sure won’t miss throwing my money away either!

    • http://twitter.com/NickJAmbrose Nicholas J. Ambrose

I completely agree with MilkyTee. People have complained long and hard about the state of the deals Gold members get, and yet if anything they just keep getting worse. If it’s not a repeat of Elder Scrolls/FallOut/Mass Effect/Borderlands/Sonic, it’s often simply not interesting. And I think it’s telling that many users, like myself, know that as soon as a promotion like Summer of Arcade rolls around, there’s no point holding out for any good deals until the slew of new titles has ended.

I’ve been a Live member for 9 years, and this year is the first year I’ve ever seriously considered just letting the subscription lapse. I rarely play games online, so the major factor keeping my subscription going right now is access to deals and offers that Silver members don’t get. Every two weeks I cross my fingers that the next round of discounted content is going to be worth the price of that subscription – and I’m more often disappointed than not.

Microsoft seems to be forgetting that there are millions of Xbox Live members who WANT to give you our money. We WANT to buy as much of your content as we can. These deals offer a great way to sell more interesting content, especially some of the older content that has simply never seen a deal or discount, to members who wouldn’t find it otherwise. But all we get are repeats and weak sales like these, with only a few gems here and there in between.

I’m a huge supporter of Microsoft and their gaming platform. I’ve been playing Xbox for over a decade, subscriber to Live for 9 years, and use a Windows Phone. But my interest IS waning and I’m more tempted than ever to try out the Playstation 3, or even hook my PC up to my TV and invest all of my gaming money on Steam.

    • http://twitter.com/ChicoEdge Chico Edge

This is my first time I have left a comment on your blog and I am sorry it has to be under these circumstances but if the people who are responsible for the Deals of the Week are reading then this needs to be said.

Do you people realize that when you account for last week’s deal and these two deals then Ubisoft has been running your DotW program for three weeks in a row? It’s all just DLC, too. Do you really want to go three weeks in a row without allowing a Gold member to pick up an Arcade game on sale through DotW? I am looking at my account history right now and leaving out the recent Microsoft publisher sale (which has nothing to do with Gold) I have not taken advantage of a sale since June 26 when Trine 2, Nexuiz, Worms 2 and Shoot Many Robots were on sale. That is almost a month and it looks like I won’t be buying any games from Xbox Live for at least another two weeks.

I know it is not fair to compare Xbox Live to Steam because a console service can’t match their deals. However, we just got off of a week long summer sale over there with game prices slashed 75% or more. It looks weak to come away from that sale and see one lousy piece of DLC on sale for DotW. I also realize that this is the usual summer drought but if your relationships with publishers are as good as the relationship they have with Sony then you ought to be able to negotiate sales at least as good as what they have. At this point I’d settle for another Sega sale.

In short, I have money. You can have some of it. All you have to do is put something out there that I want to buy. I am just as happy to give money to the competition. It’s your call.

      • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Oh no it’s perfectly fair to make that comparison.

Why can’t a console service match Steam’s deals? The games are the same, there is NO EXCUSE for Microsoft to not step up. Steam is a rival format just the same as PSN.

        But yeah, top post. Welcome.

      • http://twitter.com/seancarliss Sean Carliss

hahah then the good games they have are over priced like r type dimensions 1200 wtf??

      • http://www.justechn.com Ryan McLaughlin

You realize that Microsoft has your money weather you buy games or not. They got your money when you bought the points. Once you bought the points they don’t care how you spend them. In fact, they probably don’t want you to spend them because then they have to give the money to the publishers. If you don’t spend them, then Microsoft gets to keep the money. The only reason they want you to spend points is so that you will buy more points.

IMHO we need to kill off points, then Microsoft will really care about us buying games. Until then, they only care about you buying points.

        • http://twitter.com/ChicoEdge Chico Edge

If they aren’t putting out good game sales then I am not buying Microsoft Points and so they lose out on those sales. I have a PS3, 3DS, Vita & Wii plus a Steam account. If Microsoft wants to continue putting out crappy deals then I have other systems to spend money on every week. It is up to MS if they want me to give my money to them or to their competition.

    • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

I like that you’ve become more vocal on you blog as of late. But, I don’t understand why (considering they read the feedback) the deals are repeated.

    • http://twitter.com/seancarliss Sean Carliss

nelson when has anyone when played ruse… and when was the scott pilgrim game even relevant last a year or 2 ago. and what gos on sale for it the scott pilgrim dlc. pathetic. I used to buy at least one deal of the week game a week and lately its all been garbage. l

    • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

Very good to hear something about this subject.

What is considered regular basis? Our community is complaining about these deals for months! They’re really sucking on checking what the community expects and what is offered in the promotion catalog.

We want to BUY and these guys are preventing us to spend our money! How ridiculous this sound?

    • Mrkakaiscomingforyou

The deals are getting better with the G.O.D. deal’s and the sale’s and special app.
More Games on Demand deals would be appreciated.

      • http://twitter.com/ENich1 E.Nich

In europe we aren’t getting any G.O.D. day deals, and as far as I know, we neither have that special app.

        • Mrkakaiscomingforyou

Sorry to hear that. If i lived in Europe i probably would of brought a ps3 like the rest of them.

    • http://twitter.com/PriusGuy2004 Chris Hofer

Major… people will keep the feedback coming. There is no doubt about that. I, for one, happen to like the deals this week. However, I think it would be important/valuable/helpful for “those who work on the ‘deals’” to actually *RESPOND* to our feedback. It seems as though we’ve never really *heard* from them…other than just you communicating the deals every two weeks. Can we hear from those people who are directly involved in deals of the week? Can we get a better understanding of the “how” and the “why” deals are picked? For me, this would be very beneficial. Thanks for listening…in a virtual kind of way.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=564505289 Chris Hofer

I tweeted this question to Major about an hour ago, and he replied almost immediately. “Good question. I’ll see if they want to respond.” This is a step in the right direction, IMHO! Not sure why people would vote this kind of request down. Two negative votes? Really? But I digress.

    • BostonSup

I think the best thing MS can do right now is actually compete with Steam or even the PS3. Currently it feels like I am paying Gold fees just to play online, and I can do it with your competition for free. Steam is the best with their deals and free DLC, and PS3 is the best for the 3 consoles currently out.

We pay to be a Gold member for what? There really is no deals (look at Steam to see what a sale is), there is no free games to rent (like PSN), but there are advertisements on just about every screen of the dash board. I honestly do not know what my monthly/yearly fees go towards. $40-50 a year, plus your paid advertisements, plus your rules on free DLC (popular speculation IF not true), and your paid partners… I feel like I am (as a gamer) getting nickeled and dimed while MS is laughing its way to the bank.

Where is the competitive MS hiding? I am sticking with the 360 until it is phased out (or another generation comes in), but I doubt I will put my money into the 720 out of fear that it too will become a money pitt.

  • http://twitter.com/yamayamayaamaa «-•·÷·- ¥ámá -·÷·•-»

The GoL DLC is rubbish, they didn’t even bother to release the second pack for us because they were that bad. It’s just extra levels that pale in comparison to the rest of the game.

El Shaddai’s not bad, dunno where you are but I bought it on-disc brand new for £7.15 and whatever it is on GoD will be at least twice that, probably more.

I would love to see a deal for more Games on Demand titles like Grid and Too Human which have been out for many many years.

I have no idea what your marketing manager is getting paid for, Microsoft should be worried for next generation as many people including myself will switch with such a poor subscription model. If nintendo comes out with anything close to this, your screwed

There might be interest for some of you for the following discounts through the Sales & Specials app.

    Choplifter HD – 200 points off – now 600
    Skydrift – 400 points off – now 800

There’s also a Air Force avatar item for 80 points although I wouldn’t recommend it, for obvious reasons. Unless you’re a pilot.

Looks like someone beat me to it! comments seem to take ages to appear.

  • RicardoDawkins

    Wow, Microsoft.
Can you offer better deals than these?
Come on, Toy Soldiers: Cold War 50% off was cool but we need more than this. Do not allow Sony to beat you in digital marketplace deals.

I spent over a hundred dollars in last week’s Steam sale on gmes and dlc I will probably never play. I don’t consider it a waste of money since at least it was a good value
. Xbox live gold, year after year has become more of a complete waste of money. The few services that I actually use, multiplayer and nerflix, are free on absolutely everything else and the member benefits are downright embarrassing for a company of ms’s status.

How about some Extreme G Racing next time?!

Summer of Arcade is off to a resounding 66 on Metacritic.

  • http://twitter.com/anderline54 Ander Max

deal of week this is bad for two weeks, could come into the deal of week: minecraft, castle crashers, rayman 3 hd forza 4 DLCs etc …and free games too :D

  • Clattus

O.k. well without being negative or positive here is what they should do if they’re actually taking the feedback seriously. Do a full 50% discount on a popular arcade game along with DLC and avatar content. Either a 1200 point game or a popular 800 point game. People will buy DLC for regular xbox 360 games regardless based on whether they like the game where the arcade games are generally more imaginative and different from the same old. A discount on an arcade game is a good incentive to try something different and intrinsically more valuable though albeit shorter than the usual blockbuster game. Helps promote buying games they can’t buy cheaper anywhere else at the same time. Anyone can buy a cheaper physical copy somewhere else than what xbox offers online.

I’ve been a Gold subscriber since “Whacked!” when Xbox Live was in Beta. My membership expires in September and it will not be renewed. I haven’t played any multiplayer games in years, and Gold just doesn’t offer anything of value to me anymore. I am deeply invested in the Xbox platform, but its lagging far behind the competition in terms of pricing. Playstation Plus looks like a much better use of my subscription dollars, so I’m finally making the platform jump. I do love building my gamerscore and whatnot so hopefully someday Xbox will offer a compelling reason to subscribe to Live again. I would love to see some Steam quality deals, or subscription based game rentals like Playstation Live.

I’d like to know this as well. Valve said it would release today, and yet I haven’t seen Microsoft say a thing about it.

You have to get it through the sales and specials app on the dashboard.

    • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Yep, Choplifter HD is 600 and SkyDrift is 800. There’s also some Avatar item but does anyone care? Does anyone really care?

These prices only show up through the app, and the app has trouble recognising purchases made via the dashboard and vice versa, meaning it is possible to buy something twice if you’re not careful or just forget you already bought something.

It’s an absolute joke of a system and the app-exclusive deals should just be added to the Deal of the Week section on the dashboard so they can be purchasable system-wide, and from the PC, without having to faff about with some stupid app that I had to download a flipping 101MB title update for earlier today for goodness’ sake.

thats true zombie apoclypse and the sacrifice were on sale yesterday

    • Z4M0

on the dashboard… if you are in the right region, cause that doesn’t appear to worldwide userbase.

Can’t understand why they preffer losing possible sales rather than push a couple of buttons (c’mon, that sure hasn’t to be that complet to make happen) and make it avaliable to anyone.

Just for the record, not picking on you, just saying just in case the micro-guys read this as Mr. Hryb said.

    Same s**t, different day.

  • makegoldbetter42

Man, They announce we’re gonna have to pay 5 bucks more to make Tony Hawk slightly more complete(which I was still interested in, but after playing the 30 second demo, I passed) another Kinect game, and 2 weeks of insulting deals. Deadlight and Dust Elysian Tale look good, I may buy to support the devs.

I abandoned my ps3 a while back, I’m not happy with it either at this point, but if sony can get their act together and make the system better with the playstation plus deals next gen, I might have to switch, I no longer feel Microsoft cares about the gamers that got them here.

    Yeah, I’m feeling disappointed…
I have joined to Steam recently, when the deals started, and I’ve never seen something like that before… It was the paradise… The only thing that stoped me was my awful PC.
God, I’ve been loyal to Microsoft/Xbox for too long as other people and we don’t recieve deals like that (even paying the Gold suscription every year).
And now, I visit Steam page for my very first time and see all the deals there, no subscription fee required, low prices; even the “normal” prices are low for me (I live in Mexico, where the games are more expensive than they must be). So, I ended up buying 12 games (excellent games), and I would have bought more if I had a better PC =S.
Yes, I was surprised with the “deals” that included Dark Void, Prince of Persia, etc. But hey, they’re old games that deserves those discounts permanently =/.
You would have recieved my money insted of Steam if you had put similar deals, but yeah, you put the same everytime and, when you put something new, it’s awful content or content that is already cheap -.-.
C’mon, Microsoft, you need to be better than that…

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Hearing murmurs about a “Winter of Arcade” coming up this year, so if you thought last year’s Xmas deals were awful then boy you ain’t seen NOTHING yet! :D

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Well I wouldn’t go that far, but yeah since the axing of IX the Major is pretty much the only point of contact between Microsoft and their userbase. There’s a massive divide there and it’s not right.

  • http://twitter.com/tmeerbott T

Major, Any chance the Deus Ex DLC will be added to next weeks Square Enix sale? With Best Buy selling the game new for $10 is seems ridiculously overpriced to pay $15(1200msp) for the DLC.

When will Microsoft update DLC prices to reflect the price drop in the actual game? It is hard to justify spending more for add on content than you spent for the game.

  • http://www.facebook.com/myka.arana Myka Arana

Deals of the week are getting suckier every single week, what a waste…

  • LPHeadstrong

AC: brotherhood DLC on sale. So this time next year (hopefully) we might see Revelations DLC?

Can’t remember the last time I bought MS points but with “deals” like this what’s the point?

  • Justin McDermott

Truthfully, Microsoft has become quite the yawn factory lately. It’s been quite awhile since I have purchased anything from Xbox live. Summer of Arcade looks underwhelming. Maybe they are saving everything for next generation but they need to start teasing new IP’s before we all start losing interest. I know I have.

  • Almageddon

I gave up on MS a long time ago and since I did that I don’t even stress about it. I feel for people who only have an Xbox, I’m blessed that I have other media outlets so therefore I can vote with my wallet.

Its simple folks, don’t let it get to you because they don’t listen and don’t care! They are a business and are in it to make as much profit as possible, your just a consumer but we have options to spend our money elsewhere, remember that.

I’m actually relived its another few weeks of the usual table scraps MS have tossed down to us peasants because for the last week Steam just emptied every last dime out of my wallet!

  • Z4M0

I cant still figure out WHY THERE ISN’T AN OFFICIAL XBLA BLOG YET. I mean, one run by any of the guys at PR or Marketing departments MS should have.

It’s like complaining to the groceries’ shopkeeper why that product was so crappy when probably you’ll better be asking the farmer, etc.

  • ryder4life22187

Hey Major when are they gonna fix the icon under my games list for Silent Hill – Downpour still broken,. laughable deals whos really gonna buy the guardian of the light DLC and really MS only 1 item for deal of the week kinectimals deal is a better dea.

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Oh just as an FYI for anyone who’s got a copy of Tomb Raider Underworld lying around still, the DLC is _really_ good. Especially Lara’s Shadow!
Beneath The Ashes is basically an epilogue, an extra Lara chapter, but Lara’s Shadow has you play as the doppelganger so you have extra techniques at your disposal.

They’ve both been on sale at this price once, not too long ago, which was another case of MS ball dropping since Underworld was out ages ago and such a discount really ought to have come sooner and permanently to boot. Still, definitely worth buying.

But yeah these DLCs were a 360 exclusive that actually stayed exclusive!

  • http://twitter.com/PriusGuy2004 Chris Hofer

I actually like this week’s deals…as I have been playing AC: Brotherhood a lot lately, and I don’t have that DLC. I will also be getting the “Now with Bears” DLC for Kinectimals. Thanks Major! But I agree with lots of other people (even from weeks past)…stop the repeated sales. Bring something new and fresh for a deal of the week. Or how about lots more content for weekly deals. Now there’s an idea!!!

    • Z4M0

Can’t understand why someone would downvote this guy’s comment. Him liking the deal doesn’t make it a good deal as himself points out.

The deal worked for him. Hallelujah. Microsoft could be proud to achieve their goal: make 1 costumer happy. At this rate ( a costumer per week ) thing will be fixed in about… :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joe-Adanac/100001237455741 Joe Adanac

Time to make Gold free. Because it completely sucks nowdays compared to PS+ and especially Steam.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Scott-Brown/1452225913 Scott Brown

Wow the deal just keep getting worse. Only thing i get from my Xbox live account and PS+ account. Is I pay MS to make sure my credit card info is safe. PS+ rewards its members.

  • http://www.facebook.com/adam.palmer.509994 Adam Palmer

It would be really interesting to know who decides the weekly deals, as they are missing a real money spinner. There are so many old XBLA games that are probably never downloaded anymore, but if you put something like Geometry Wars 1 or Poker Smash on for 200msp, people will buy them as they are so cheap!
I also think DLC that is over two years old should be substantially reduced permanently, if only to get a bit more movement out of it.
Games On Demand should have a daily / weekly game that is seriously reduced, 75% off for something that’s about 2 years old or longer is fair.
Finally, give Indie games achievements please! Even if only 50msp for doing simple tasks, it would seriously stimulate the indie games market from all the cheevo hunters, giving more money to these small devs.
Surely these makes sense? Am I being unreasonable?
