Due to a lot of mixed reviews on this one, this will no longer be a day 1 purchase, will just download the demo for now

    • dieFANBOYdie

Truth be told, why would ANY game with a free trial mode be a ‘day 1 purchase’? If there was no trial, maybe, I can see people willing to make the purchase right away based on word of mouth and reviews. But there is no logical reason why anyone should outright buy games if they can take it for a test run first.

      • Thânia Santos

Why dieFANBOYdie would receive bad votes?
What he said is just simple wisdom!
or are the ‘first day purchasers’ got their feelings hurt?
        Forum vindictiveness is strangely fun.

long life to freedom of speech!

        • Thânia Santos

I knew I would receive bad votes ^^
I told you : Forum vindictiveness is fun!!

Will Summer of Arcade produce a title that hits a 70 or above on Metacritic? If you take out some gimmie reviews from IGN, OXM, etc., this one was pretty much trashed. While Metacritic is never the end-all, you can kind of sense that MS can’t even produce first party Arcade games. Oh well, Lococycle.

Either work on the price point, or there really isn’t any reason for overpriced mediocre games to be part of promotions.

    • gerblanski

Metacritic needs to die, arbitrary numbers will be the death of creativity.

      • Russell Gorall

As will games like Deadlight and Wreckateer.

  • Lee Rayson

Downloading it, though if i do like it i wont be buying it straight away 1200MSP is a lot for a side scroller no matter how good it looks

    • gerblanski

Whats wrong with side scrolling platformers? I’m enjoying it, though agreed, this is one of the weaker Summer of Arcades.

      • Lee Rayson

Side scrollers are quite basic which why i think 1200msp is to much

    • http://twitter.com/GreenMistt Miller

      Lol.

    • this_is_my_humble_opinion

So you’re saying 15$ is too much to ask for for games like LittleBigPlanet, New Super Mario Bros and Rayman Origins? And just because these games have this specific perspective?

      • Lee Rayson

        yeap.

    • http://www.facebook.com/omarwhy Omar Yassin

You must have missed shadow complex.

  • http://twitter.com/Ganon255 Ganon255

bought it, enjoying the atmosphere of the pacific northwest

Let me know when it’s on sale, and then I MAY consider buying it…

  • ChinoM

Why Spelunky wasn’t part of this year’s ”Summer of Arcade”? This game is better than whole mediocre line-up (save up for Dust, which is the only game from there that looks good).

    • Russell Gorall

I agree about Spelunky and even putting Fez in.

  • Jason Yuan

It seems like no matter what the pricing will be no one will be happy paying for anything. I think $15 is not bad for a brand new IP game. In California minimum wage pay thats just 2 hours of your time for an all new game. $15 goes to the company for their family, rent, license fees to Microsoft, and profit. That $15 goes a long way for them and just 2 combo hamburger meals for us. I do agree about the lack of great games on Summer of Arcade, but I have bought at least 1 game each season.

    • ChinoM

I don’t have any problems with the pricing. It’s all about quality. You know what – i happily paid 1200MSP for Spelunky, Trials EVO and got tons of content and fun out of them. Deadlight is 2hrs long game, not even good one, unpolished with zero replay value. Perfect example for a rip-off!

    • gerblanski

Agreed, 800 has now become 1200 for a reason, you’re not downloading Feeding Frenzy and Geometry Wars anymore.

      • http://twitter.com/lochdoun Bry

Geometry Wars is amazing. What are you talking about?

      • ElektroDragon

Stupid reasoning when I now buy most RETAIL games for $15 in just a few months after release. Shows you how expensive 1200 really is.

        • http://twitter.com/seekul Luke Es | sE ekuL

Actually it shows you how awful the U.S. economy is. Prices don’t dip that fast elsewhere. And I check.

        • dieFANBOYdie

How much does your hyperbole cost?

Oh wait… or did you mean to say you buy d-list garbage bargain bin reatil crapware that no one cares about for $15?

    • http://twitter.com/Superman64 Some Guy

I paid $15 Trials: Evolution and I was fine with that. I paid $20 for Minecraft: 360 Edition…and I have definitely got my money’s worth. I paid $15 for Gotham City Impostors and I have no regrets. So what are you talking about “no one will be happy paying for anything”? Just sounds like you made a comment with no thought behind it at all.

      • http://twitter.com/ndeedz nastyNater

you are a moron to pay that amount of money, the steam summer sale just happened the past 2 weeks and for 50 dollars I got about 100 dollars worth of AAA title games.

        • http://twitter.com/Superman64 Some Guy

You’re assuming I have a decent computer. I don’t. So I guess that makes you the moron.

        • fsdfg dsfds

To bad deadlight any many other games arnt on your elite pc, Also you must be a moron Piratebay has 100% off all day every day

    • EighteenCharacters

Yea, but $15 for a game that can be finished in two hours? That’s a little much. Doesn’t appear to have much replay value, either.

  • dlmayday

I have NEVER bought a game on day one and have never bought a game without trying the demo first until Deadlight. I was a big fan of Shadow Complex and due to it’s similarities to that game and all the things I read and saw on it this became the only game in over 2 years that I bought day one. Enjoyed the few minutes I had with it before my ball game started and looking forward to getting back to it.

So far as the price point goes I believe for the most part you get what you pay for. 800 pt games are OK but 1200 pt games I seem to get more enjoyment out of. Limbo, Trials HD, Trials EVO, Shadow Complex, Splosion Man, Ms Splosion Man, Just to name a few.

    • Russell Gorall

I think the Splosions were always 800pts. I agree with Limbo and Trials, yet for every stellar game like those there are about twenty duds at a fifteen buck price point.

      • dlmayday

You might be right about the Splosions but I would have payed 1200pts LOL.

You stated “yet for every stellar game like those there are about twenty duds at a fifteen buck price point” ok….well riddle me this? for every full release over $50 there is about 50 duds at that price point. Something to reset your hat on for a min or two.

        • Russell Gorall

I can rent games for four bucks a piece. This late in a console generation it really doesn’t make sense to go the DLC route. I don’t think MS has even given an official statement as to whether games will transfer over to the next gen console.

Also, the budget and overall value for games like Deadlight are extremely minimal compared to disc based releases. While I loved Limbo, I played through it once and will probably never touch it again. While that was well worth what I paid for it, it is currently just a piece of data and activation code on my 360. You are basically renting the game for as long as you have your console, only to be played on your console.

With that in mind, I would actually expect more of an Arcade release.

          • dlmayday

Well for me (I was still playing my Xbox [1st generation] up until just over 2 years ago) this makes PERFECT sense to me. Plus I don’t play multiplayer and must prefer to be told a story and play only single player campaigns and I know I’m in the minority here but that is what you get for someone that is almost 50 and remembers playing games way before there was online multiplayer.

  • http://twitter.com/trinidadchris Christopher Trinidad

Its all up to you Dust!

  • ElektroDragon

Put it on sale for 50% off and I’ll buy it. I’m even from Seattle, yet still not buying this Limbo & Shadow Complex mashup for 1200.

    • Red Dragon

I’m with you on that, Elektro!

  • http://twitter.com/seekul Luke Es | sE ekuL

I’m interested to see where exactly the demo ends, as it apparently takes quite a turn in mechanics after the opening stages. Sometimes a vertical slice is more accurate than the intro.
It’s a little bit concerning when the selection of avatar gear has more positive buzz than the game. That beard & beanie combo is pretty rad. ;)

  • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

Starts out brilliant and then just fizzles out. Disappointing, avoid.

    • Thânia Santos

That is what game reviewers that I trust said. (No, I do not trust IGN, they made me buy so many bad/average games). And this is only 3 hours of gameplay for 1200 MP.
Sad? It looked so nice …

      • http://www.facebook.com/omarwhy Omar Yassin

Reviewers MADE you buy games? Buy something because you want it not because you read someones opinion! Don’t be a sheep!

        • http://twitter.com/Navarin Buster Wolf

But if you read a bunch of unanimous “meh” reviews then you might not want to buy it. That’s the point of getting opinions from multiple people, so you can get a good gauge of how good the game really is and perhaps not make a purchase you might regret. That’s not being a sheep, that’s being a smart shopper.

Besides, there’s a trial version so you can always try it. But of course the trial is set at the start of the game, which is the good bit.

  • http://twitter.com/Lucky13X Lucky13X

Hrm. Thanks for all the comments and reviews guys. It’s been a long while since I bought an XBLA game and I have nearly a 100. Will check this out.

  • Jeff Randall

I’ve been playing it a lot today and have gotten about 3/4 through the game. I’m very happy with it so far. I’m not sure what people don’t like. I tend to like puzzle solving and this game is full of them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/kyledominy123 Kyle Dominy

one of the worst arcade games ive played since limbo
