Open Call, More Testers Welcome for 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta!

The amount of interest we received in July for the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta was so staggering that today we’re announcing a second open call for Xbox LIVE subscribers to test out the beta program. I can tell you that we’re accepting far more beta-testers this time around, but space is still limited and once the spots are filled the beta will be closed, so sign up today!

If you’re selected, an update will be pushed to your Xbox 360 in the next few days. The update will contain new Xbox LIVE features, including:

Internet Explorer for Xbox
Recommendations and ratings
Pinning and favorites
Enhanced category search and discovery features
Voice search (in specified markets)

Note: A console in the program is expected to remain fully compatible with standard retail consoles not in the program.

If you would like to participate, please register for the 2012 Xbox LIVE Update Beta here. You will be required to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for confidentiality reasons. Any participant who violates the NDA will be removed from this beta and all Xbox betas moving forward, and will not have access to Xbox LIVE until the end of this beta program period. Our NDA enforcement squad is really good at finding violators; so save us both the trouble and don’t test them. We also ask that you fill out a brief 5-minute survey at the end of the beta to let us know what you think.

Your interest and passion in helping the Xbox team has been awesome and we’re very excited to see the early feedback so that we can make Xbox even better. Thanks again for your participation and enjoy!

I signed up and it said “congratulations, you are in the beta etc. etc.”, however I do not see a link to the registration key as yet……will I get one eventually as it told me I was part of the beta program or am I out of luck?

  if it does not say something like “request product key” or something along those lines then you might not receive a code unless they decide to open the beta to the public again. How long ago did it say you were accepted into the beta?

        i believe so, about 24 hours AFTER you fill out the contract saying you wont release info about the beta to the public there should be a button on the left side saying product key or request a product key. A code will not be in an e-mail. You have to get the code on you’re own by clicking the button. As of right now there is an update under the section that ses “Xbox LIVE Update Public Beta” that states “Product keys are currently unavailable”. So I am assuming that it is first come first serve. So it looks like you may be out of luck unless MS decides to add more slots for people to join. so from what i have heard and read from MS is that when the codes run out that it will return to a closed beta.

      If you do not get the update today then you may get it on monday. I’m now sure. If you still have to update by the end of Monday, I would recommend to send a feedback from the connect site stating that you have entered you’re code and have been waiting over 2 days and still no update. MS could also be doing some updates with the beta in some form and it is delaying the process of pushing the updates for people. But dont take my word for that because i am not a MS official.

        This is my exact problem too. Registred Friday and another console has it,but registered when it was first open for testers.With the other console, the user had an additional download named “Xbox Open Beta” if I’m not mistakened.

  try and call xbox and see if they can get u hooked up with someone or at least give u info, there might be a short delay on pushing the updates to some people because they are working on getting more people into the beta. try looking at hte FAQ on the connect site

Now that Internet Explorer is being added to Xbox 360′s, don’t you think it’s about time to add Microsoft Security Essentials to all Xbox 360′s to keep malware off of our Xbox 360′s ? I sure do. It should’ve actually been added last year with the Xbox 360′s last update that Metrofied the Xbox 360′s interface. Also, are we getting IE 9 or IE 10 ? If it’s IE 10, are we getting Windows 8′s Metro version or Desktop version of it. I believe we need the desktop version.

  Just an opinion, but I think they are going to give us the 360 version of IE along the lines off the Facebook and YouTube apps….limited use bottlenecks to prevent viruses.

  you have to remember it takes 1-2 business days
  and the weekend isnt business dayys lol
  your fine if you dont have it by the ebd of the week id get worried

Got the update today, used it 2 hours and shut system down. Came back to restart AND NOW HAVE “SYSTEM UPDATE STOPPED” AND AN CODE. MY SYSTEM IS NOW UNUSABLE. ANY IDEAS???

  Go to the feed back page on the connect site… That is where they want you to submit the problem. They will ask for a detailed problem and a form u must fill out. Dont forget to tell the the error and what the code is.

I DO NOT CARE WHAT NO ONE SAYS XBOX 360 IS BETTER THAN PS3……………… THE ONLY THING I WISH XBOX HAD THAT PS3 HAS IS BLU RAY……. I THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR THE XBOX GRAPHICS …….. OTHER THEN THAT XBOX 360 IS THE BEST GAME CONSOLE EVER!!!

I love the update and 360 just wish Microsoft would make more franchises exclusive to 360. That is the one thing I think the 360 has really lacked. If you really look Microsoft has 4 main franchises in Halo, Gears of War, Fable and Forza. Really wish we could get some new and great looking exclusives on the 360.

I have been trying diligently since you first started advertising the new 2012 beta dashboard. I have called Xbox live for support I have tried every single thing I can possibly do and ever since the beginning I keep getting rerouted to Change profile or edit profile. I have been on the phone with Xbox live customer support several times. my xbox reference number is 1182960723. no matter what I do I cannot get this code or access this beta dashboard. I lost countless hours of sleep and I’m so frustrated I could cry. ohh my god what do I have to do to get my data dashboard upgrade for my console. this has been absolutely ridiculous I sware somebody please give me the answer What do I do. I have been calling X Box Live Support Center the very first advertisement of the day that it was originaly released. no matter what computer or internet access I use I cannot get to the steps required to get the beta upgrade. mmy nnumber iis 7854082974 pplease ccall aasap n hhelp. I have court call technical support twice today once when u first opened this morning and once right before midnight and the gal I was talking with at midnight somehow got disconnected from me while we were going through certain steps and she never called back. please somebody give me the information or walk through the steps on your computer for me so I can get this program on my console. I am frustrated up to mmy eeye balls with this
