A demo 9 months after release? What’s the point now?

    • Lee Rayson

To get people who didn’t buy it at launch(like me) to interest them.
though makes no difference i quit CoD on BL OPs.
Ill be waiting till maybe next gen when they may create a new game engine before getting another CoD

    • ryder4life22187

my best guess is to try to clear out stock i bought a 2nd copy a month ago after i sold my friend the first one they have been selling them with DLC Collection 1 must be to spark more interest in possibly new console owners or somthing

  • Dan Robinson

Between this and Count Strike GO, it’s a good week to blow some stuff up!

  • rhooper

And somebody on Earth doesn’t know how CoD is?

    • Lee Rayson

Yeap. me i didnt buy MW3 and i wont be till next gen or it is in the bargin bin for less than £5

      • BostonSup

If you played one CoD game before (CoD4 and higher), then you played them all.

  • Neftali Rodriguez

It would be good if they release the single player mode apart on the XBLA.

  • BurntDave

lol really? a demo for the last game just months before the new one?
what lame marketing. hope the 5 people that never tried the game enjoy it.

  • Michael Dolcin

Almost a year later huh? Great marketing guys…

    • BostonSup

I don’t think it is about marketing as much as trying to milk as much money as they can. I honestly think Activision is hoping those new to the system will know of CoD, but not of their yearly re-releases and buy MW3 and then BO2. There is no other reason to release a demo THIS far out, and THIS close to their new rehash.

    • Hugoku

Well, they do have a captive audience so it’s not like they need to promote the game. It’s a love it or hate it kinda deal with this game really so at this point they just want to reel in those on the other side of the fence.

      Personally, still not interested.

        GTFO noob

Instead of trying to berate a single user for some reason, try to add your own point of view.

  • BostonSup

Hopefully those people who try out the game realizes the new game is out real soon. MW3 will not go down in price, just in support, so I hope they either wait for the new game or get a cheaper old, unsupported CoD instead.

I played this demo in 2007… It was called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
I then played it again in 2008, it was called Call of Duty: World at War.
Also in 2009, called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
    2010, Black Ops.. etc.
They have all been the same game, nothing different, to those that don’t understand sarcasm.

    • Harry Potter

How did you get an early demo in 2007?

      • Dr4gOnsFuRy

Call of Duty 4 was released in 2007. Everything I mentioned was sarcasm.

      • Russell Gorall

He is from the future. Or the past. I forget which.

  • Adam Daniel John Thompson

My first reaction was that maybe it meant to say demo for black ops 2.

  • Casey Andrews

C’mon Larry….Don’t tell me that you guys didn’t expect such a bad backlash from the community over this one….

  • aaron

yea im kinda confused why we are seeing this now

  • Joseph Johnson

Ill probably try the demo, but still not buy it.. Black Ops 2 looks the same from the footage Ive seen too.. I dont get what all the hype is about.. CoD is a good game, but it just seems like the “Madden” of FPSs

SXSW is proposing a panel about the inside story of how Call of Duty does their online marketing. Looks cool – but people need to vote by Friday to make it a finalist. Would love to check this out.
