  That’s why I didn’t buy it – their DLC plan is pretty horrible… and season pass holders got screwed in Forza 4 when T10 decided the Porsche add-on wasn’t included.

  At least they are telling you in advance that buying the game is just a foot in the door for all the content they have done, same thing with Borderlands 2. Unless you enjoy throwing money at corporations instead of buying games they are telling you in advace to wait a year for the edition with DLC.

  The THQ sale is on the dashboard, and it includes Stacking, Voltron, Apples to Apples, Costume Quest and Warhammer. It also has DLC for Red Faction, Homefront, Space Marine, Saints Row 2, and You Don’t Know Jack. There’s also some Voltron and Kung Fu Panda themed avatar stuff.

  It includes six car packs that will be released gradually, and an actual expansion to the game. Not sure how practical is to bundle all that up in 4K pass though. I guess time will tell if this succeeds.

    I really miss the old days where that “evil” DLC marketing strategy to
    get more money for something that in the past was some sort like in-game reward
    for playing a looooong time, beating a hard difficult, explore more, etc.. Expanding
    the game’s circle of life = this is
    translated like more word-of-mouth communication, more sales = more money.

      It 100% isn’t extra, it is the other part of the game. DLC was a decent idea (game sells well, add a few levels for $5 more, which was created after the game was completed and on the market)… but then publishers, console manufacturers and developers saw the dollar signs.
      
      Now DLC is either on disc, announced before the game is even released, ect.. There isn’t many games that you can buy whole anymore for $60, now one game costs $60 down and you layaway the rest for the final price of roughly $110.

        It is pretty subjective term, I know.
        
        I will go at it in this angle. A game being developed at the same time as the DLC is being develop seems like they should have put it into the game right from the start. Games like LA Noire where one of the DLC was directly from the middle of the game (It was free DLC if pre-ordered through GameStop, but was a paid DLC if pre-ordered elsewhere or without pre-ordering it). Games like Resident Evil 5 where the DLC is actually on the disc, but is locked out.
        
        To me, those types of actions means that the whole game was not included. Adding non-needing weapons to single player games, or releasing expansions like RDR and Skyrim did is welcomed. Releasing reasonable priced map packs is welcomed too (like CoD4 with the $5 packs, not so much with the $15 in the “new” CoDs).
        
        So it is subjective, but I think it is a reasonable conclusion based on the context and patterns.

        There was no $5 map pack for CoD4… There was a single $10 map pack, with three maps.
        
        Now they do $15 map packs with five maps.
        
        On a per map basis, you’re actually getting a slightly better deal with the newer games.

        Most if not all DLC, even if not included on the disc itself, has been developed at the very same time of the main game, since DLC was invented. Do you really think the companies disband the team, then put them all together again some months later, and then program the DLC?

    I expect they took a long look at how well the pricey Gears 3 packs went for things like gun skins and future content. It’s easy to consider a large number of people who buy these big name games have plenty of disposable income, and they’re only buying maybe 5 games a year that they recognise.[citation needed] With, what, a 35-40 million userbase now? There’s plenty of room to experiment. Personally I think it’s too nebulous to promise unannounced content, but there are people who can “forget” they spent $50 on something.

      Yep, I was actually interested in the game after playing the demo but a 4000 point “season pass” (which is really nothing more than a way to rob the consumers up front, take the money now and then underdeliver later and there’s nothing the consumers can do) and a “launch day” car pack that should have been included with the – oh, I dunno – LAUNCH DAY GAME?
      
      No, thank you. Lost sale, Microsoft and I hope like hell you’re not going to try to slap on a 4000+ point “season pass” on Halo 4. Maybe I’ll buy Forza Horizon used later so all the money goes to Gamestop rather than Microsoft. Even then, I won’t touch a 4000 point season pass.

    … You realize that the game disc is completed long before launch right? Just because they have DLC ready on launch day DOESN’T mean they could have just put it on-disc, they had a lot of time to work on it DLC after the disc was finalized.

What happened? The DotW guys were doing so well and now we get Batman stuff that’s been discounted before without Harley’s Revenge (again) and Bioshock 2 AGAIN. Seriously, the Bioshock stuff just needs to be permanently discounted and the sales need to get better, or MS is going to lose a huge customer base when everything starts to go all digital and we leave physical media behind. I already had the DLC installed to the hard drive from my purchased Batman Arkham City GOTY edition and now have bought the games on demand arkham city and the dlc doesn’t work with the games on demand version…what gives?

Didn’t have this problem with Borderlands, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Dragon Age, and every other game on games on demand where I mixed goty dlc with a games on demand edition. So who do I call/contact to complain and get a refund?

      Confirmed with WB on the phone. GOTY DLC does NOT work with Games on Demand Version. There is no warning of this fact when you purchase the games on demand version. I called xbox and they will not issue a refund for the games on demand version even though it is useless to me. Money wasted…thanks a lot. Not being able to give a refund on a digital purchase is BS…all xbox would have to do is revoke the license to play the content. It’s not rocket science.
