  • Lee Rayson

I want one so bad!!! perhaps Santa will bring me one for Christmas

    • Magy Grendel

well, dude… i feel really sorry for you. want one sooo bad even have no idea of quality, feedbacks from customers whom already have it and test it… it’s smell from pure blind fanatic attitude.

      • http://www.facebook.com/chomskyknows Marcus Roof

why don’t you let the guy like what he wants to like and stfu…

      • Lee Rayson

I’m sorry but i don’t listen to feedback i make my own choices base on my own experiences, if i was to ever get this or an ipad id get this because it would be connected to all my devices

      • ElektroDragon

Oh like Appletards are any different? No, they’re worse!

        lol – hate much?

Very interested but somewhat put off by the price tbh.

Windows 8 looks like the Xbox Dashboard. To access a file in memory stick, how many ads I need to see in a connected Windows 8 Surface.

    • ElektroDragon

None. *duh* And actually it looks like Windows Phone, because it is the new Metro interface. Get a clue. Windows Phone has no ads, neither will this.

      • JuanCabrera

Actually, a lot of the apps do have ads. Even the built-in ones like Xbox Music and Xbox Video. I don’t mind them, but they do have ads.

    • JuanCabrera

To access files on a flash drive, you use File Explorer. Same as Windows 7 and previous versions.

none…Xbox Dashboard is NOT metro – more like a cheap imitation. Win8 is ace – and fast.

      • http://twitter.com/Inaba_kun Inaba-kun

Very true. I assume the next Xbox will run real Windows 8 (although no doubt a more restricted version) with proper live tiles, customisation, and an app store filled with thousands of apps. Until then we just get a Metro inspired skin with lots of ads.

I hope that too and I’m definitely getting one provided Microsoft fixes the problem with my current 360 which was caused by the dashboard update. The outcome of that will determine whether I will be continuing with Xbox – and Microsoft.

  • Russell Gorall

    Will it work with Zune?

  • ElektroDragon

Can’t wait to put Windows 8 on our Asus EEE Transformer tablet PC.

Cool…. but waiting for the ‘Pro’ model.

In order to balance the delightful comments below. I’ll just put this here:

Pre-ordered mine (Canada), can’t wait to try it out.

The surface is vaguely interesting but the eco system just isn’t there yet. People complain that there are very few true tablet apps for Android, but at least it can run Android phone apps. The Surface can only run Metro apps, of which there are a few hundred (and most are shovelware).

Plus the screen seems way too low-res for the price.

Lol I have an Ipad 2 and 90% of the time I’m using safari or youtube, I think i can wait a bit for the “ecosystem” to grow.

      • JoeGrahamcracker

        They all suck.

  • bickle2

I wanted one till I saw the price. Haven’t you learned from all the other wannabe iPad killers? $100 for the cover? This thing costs about $300 to build, maybe $350. If you want to hurt Apple, who has a cheaper iPad also conf this week, you have to cut the price and hot them where. It hurts. We have a memory card slot do we don’t charge you &100 for $16 worth of flash we have a toveable battery (god I hope). We don’t make lockout charging cables that we charge $30 for. The list goes on. MS is the underdog here, and no amount of flashy ads will change that, and the way to stay there is to pretend like you have a church of mindless wallets who will buy whatever you make.

I read a report a couple of years ago (when the iPad was $400) that it cost $150 to make. So I don’t think, using current day tech, that it costs $300. Even the added hardware vs Apple tablets are in $s, not tens or hundreds.

      • bickle2

That’s iPhone, not iPad. With the kind of screen in surface and iPad 3, that’s not cheap.

    • sniperboy

Ace, HQ, Dell, or some other manufactures will probably come out with cheaper models so I wouldn’t give up hope.

Still waiting on the “proper” ones, i.e. in tablet form but with the full OS. However, I heard the RT Office apps are catered for the tablet format, whilst the full Office version isn’t.

  • http://www.facebook.com/eugenia.schmidt.315 Eugenia Schmidt

I may be wrong, but I think this tablet is kind of too innovative with its wp8 and all those tiles things, and many people will prefer the good old ipad, especially taking into account that the surface RT is too expensive…

  • http://twitter.com/McStorm_ Jason

Seriously, how many are they hoping to sell at that price.
You can get better for cheaper. typical M$ yet again.

  • Captiosus

Not sure why anyone would want to buy the RT version that is limited by architecture and locked to the Windows Marketplace for most software. I imagine there are quite a few folks in the “sold out preorder” camp who think they’re getting a full fledged PC in a tablet form. They’re going to be very disappointed that they didn’t wait for the Pro version.

  • BlinkFandango

Be careful pre-ordering from the Microsoft Store guys, you might never get your item. I’ve had two games have issues and the MS Store doesn’t know how to resolve them.

  • Socal71

As someone who owns an ipad3 or whatever apple calls it, I’m excited to see what surface has to offer. Like some of you, I am very disappointed in the price. For the cost of the pro I can purchase a loaded new tower. I liked the idea or rumor price of a 299.00 model and would have bought one for sure. But 799.00 is just not worth the purchase. Especially when in a year they will be selling surface2’s. it’s starting to remind me of the video game crash all over… Too many choices out there and the prices don’t justify the upgrade or switch anymore.
