Nice, a simultaneous release with Android and iOS for once.

  • Ganon255

So why doesn’t this work on my Windows Phone 7?

    • Ganon255

I plan on buying a Windows Phone 8. Unless there is a specific hardware reason that this game can’t run on WP7, I’m sorely disappointed.

      • Ganon255

I already bought it for Windows 8(PC)

      • Karl Cramer

It was built using the underlying Windows RT kernel that’s in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone 7 uses Windows CE as its base. But a WP7 version is coming.

    • Tylerh1701

Programming games for WP7 and WP8 is different. I’m no pro, but WP7 uses XNA and WP8 doesn’t, WP8 actually uses something much easier which will hopefully mean we see more games on WP8 come out in a more timely fashion.

That being said, WPCentral said that this game is also coming to WP7 Nokia devices at some point.

      • Boe2

Ofcourse WP8 supports XNA. The difference is most likely framework version related and doesn’t seem that hard to overcome.

        • Tylerh1701

I have no clue man. I don’t know anything about programming. All I know is what I’ve read:

“The implication here is that Rovio will launch a separate version of Angry Birds Star Wars specifically for Windows Phone 7. Why not publish it at the same time as the WP8 game? Put simply, it’s a lot harder to code games for WP7 than WP8. That’s because WP7 lacks direct hardware access and support for popular programming languages like C++. WP7 games must be developed in XNA, which is a functional but less than versatile platform aimed at aspiring developers rather than experienced ones. Yes, a simple game like Angry Birds can be done with XNA (WP7 already has the original, after all) but it still takes more time and money than with WP8.”

  • Bennijin

Yeah don’t support WP7 will you? I’m still under contract!

This is probably a relevant place to post this, Sonic CD will finally debut on WP7/8 on Wednesday next week. Price isn’t known but it better be at a low price considering it’s A YEAR LATE.

Woot… Good to know it will be there a year from now when/if I upgrade to win Windows 8 phone. For the moment I am loving my Samsung technology (Phone, Tablet, TV) so I may be hard pressed to move over if they don’t have a W8 phone that interacts with the other devices.,

  • Chris Halley

Not going to be available for Windows Phone 7? Drag. 7 is being outdated already, how sad.

    • Karl Cramer

At the Nokia conversations blog, Nokia CONFIRMED Angry Birds Star Wars is coming to Windows Phone 7. It’s just taking longer to program. “As for when Angry Birds Star Wars might arrive on Lumia phones running on Windows Phone 7.5 – Rovio and Nokia want to make sure everything works as well as it can before they launch the game, but we’ll update you as soon as we know more.”

  • Nathan

How come iOS and Android (and WP8) get this, but Windows Phone 7 doesn’t?

    • Boe2

…’s another angry birds game. Are you really going to care that much about not getting it?

      • QuixoticRocket

But it’s a really cool angry birds game. Also it’s the principle and the precedence that matters.

      • Nathan

Who said I cared about getting it? You are not the answer I am looking for.

  • fsdfg dsfds

Wheres angry birds for XBLA?? so BS

  • derek meisenburg

Major Nelson, Will this be DLC for the Hard copy of Angry birds on Xbox 360?

  • Ali Maggs

Loving this game. Actually bought it on both the Surface and my Lumia 920. WP7 users, it’s coming. Nokia talked it up on their Conversations Blog yesterday.

  • Jamie Kenyon

Priority should have gone to WP7, not WP8, escpecially when it won’t run on 7.8 and 7.8 is, as yet, not even been given a release date!

  • kevgallacher

If I buy this on windows 8 will it work with windows phone 8 or do I need to buy it twice?
If so then poor show Microsoft.

    • TonyLN

That’s probably one of the big things I am waiting to see with the Windows-8, WP8, Windows-RT-8 — And the NextBox (once it’s announced and what not). If I can buy once and play on all the platforms my house will be all Windows. If not I think I will be sticking with Android for most everything…

  • Lee Rayson

Really…… getting bit sick of star wars themed games now it the longest running franchise an yet it gets Wh$£% out more than anything

  • Eric Starr

    Windows 8 – $5, iphone – $1, hmm.
