The above key can only be used once per account so don’t wait, redeem it now so you can get in on the lootin’. Also, don’t forget we’ve unlocked Xbox LIVE Gold for many regions this weekend, so it’s the perfect time show off the new weapon you’ve unlocked with some Borderlands 2 co-op.

Some notes about the SHiFT codes:

  • To redeem a code, select "Extras" on the main menu of Borderlands 2 and choose "SHiFT Codes" then follow the on-screen instructions.
  • The above code will only work on the Xbox 360 version of Borderlands 2
  • SHiFT requires Xbox LIVE Gold and the account user must be at least 18 years of age.
  • For further details about what a Golden Key is and how/where to redeem is, hit the Gearbox forums

      I’ve asked before and the answer is no. It sucks. Sometimes they are valid for upwards of 3-4 hours so give it a try when you get to your console. You never know.

    for a moment I though this was a code for Borderlands 2 game, but I guess its just some addon since it than says it needs to be redeemed from within Borderlands 2 game menus. Misguiding a bit.

      Except it states it’s for a Golden Key in the title. And the description states you have to go in-game in Borderlands 2 through the Extras menu to enter it, and that it is a SHIFT code. Reading is fundamental.

    I think people miss the point of why SHiFT codes can only be entered from within the game. Gear Box wants you to fire it up and play. I agree with all of you 100% that it would more convenient if we could enter it through an app or online. Especially if you’re away from home. But understand why they do what they do. It’s easy for games, even excellent games, to get lost in the holiday game deluge, competing with other AAA games.
    This SHiFT scheme is devious as it is brilliant. People don’t want to miss out on rare items. They’re forced to turn on the game. Boom! You just added to Borderlands 2 ranks on the most played list. You’re reminded about Borderlands 2 while we’re in the midst of Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 hype. And I can’t be the only one who started up Borderlands 2 to enter a SHiFT code and get suckered into playing for a bit. That bit then mysteriously turns into a couple of hours. Like I said, devious as it is brilliant.

    you know i would enjoy this gold key is i wasnt hit with the massive freezing bug that can hit your account. MS/Gearbox need to FIX THIS FREEZING PROBLEMS!!! I played the game for liek 300 hours with no freezing then i was hit with the freeze bug now i cant play but 5 mins and itl freeze!!!
