Lovefilm UK? We already have a lovefilm app…..Am i missing something?

    • mnemo70

It says “Updating in United Kingdom”…

    • Protege

LOVEFiLM UK (Updating in United Kingdom)

Header states that it is an update…..

    • Calum Young

      But what’s updating?

      • Willy McBurgle

instead of big rectangle, small rectangle, big rectangle on the menu – it’s now small rectangle, big rectangle, small rectangle…quite obvious i thought

        • Calum Young

          gtfo u nub

          • Willy McBurgle

Been gaming before you were breastfeeding, lad – sit down and eat your porridge. Good boy.

          • Calum Young

            Bit sad..

  • Chris Giordano

I’d just like to go on the record and say thanks for all the hard work the Xbox team has gone through to continually add new content to the Xbox. I may not use half of some of the features, but I know there are people out there that would appreciate the new stuff. If we could get Spotify on the Xbox I’d be a VERY VERY happy man!

    Thanks for the update Major!

    • toohats

Nice points! I would like to add – and thanks for the legal team – as dealing with media companies can be so very frustrating.
Like how I still can’t watch ‘Tabatha Takes Over’ on Bravo yet.

    • ikari_paul

if you live in the US, i guess that “hard work” is visible… over here, we get nothing. oh, wait, we get Internet Explorer… lol

    • tomo008866

Obviously you live in the United States. The rest of the world, especially Ireland, is being totally neglected. We got Halo Waypoint, Internet Explorer and a few other absolutely stupid apps. And we have to pay €59.99. That’s $78 USD. $18 extra and what do we get? NOTHING, we get less.

    • Willy McBurgle

I thought this was a joke and laughed – then I realised this was real and laughed even harder.

  • Peter

When do we get the Twitch.TV app in the US?

And what a surprise – still not ITV app for the uk :(

    • Willy McBurgle

not that you could call the PS3 ITV support an ‘app’

  • Simon Walker

When is live getting ITV player in the UK or flash on ie pls

    • Lee Rayson

No flash for IE because it supports HTML 5

  • Curtis Isabell

it would help if netflix on xbox was 1080p and had the superior netflix app as well.

    • BostonSup

Yeah, the Netflix app is horrible on the Xbox, but use to be really good at one point. I am not sure why they downgraded it. As much as I love my Xbox for gaming (though I realize that it feeds on insane amount of money), PS3 is the better media system, by far (and a better value all round… man I hate to admit that!!!!!!!).

      • Willy McBurgle

truth – you speak it. I only found this out because I was driven into the arms of Sony Online Entertainment by Microsoft’s callous attitude after a dashboard update rendered half of my rented video and apps unplayable.

    • Chris Grub

If you login to your Netflix preferences through a web browser you can change your quality options. Since I did this it always streams in HD if it is available. Took a few hours to take effect though.

On another note, if you watch 1080p YouTube videos video the app the edges get cropped. I’ve done it on multiple sets and played with my TV and XBOX resolution and aspect ratios and it still gets cropped.

      • Volitar Prime

The Netflix app and I believe the YouTube app are only 720p. If you watch 1080i/p content in they the apps downscale them to 720p which your Xbox then scales to 1080p if that is what you have yout video settings at. As far as I am aware only Xbox Movies (formally Zune) is 1080i/p, all of the video streaming apps are restricted to 720p.

        • Adam Thompson

Microsoft could learn a lot from Wii U’s YouTube app.

        • Chris Grub

Thanks for an actual thoughtful/helpful response. Have a great evening.

  • Curtis Isabell

Look at all these things no one cares about :D

  • ikari_paul

as always, nothing over here. definitely not going with xbox live gold next generation, just not worth the subscription.

  • Mark

Where’s Crunchyroll? Has it not already received Microsoft approval?

    • shinji

I’m wondering that as well… I would love support on the xbox 360.

  • Willy McBurgle

apps don’t work properly on the Elite anyway so…

    • Lee Rayson

yeah they do, I have an Elite, clear some space off the harddrive works fine

      • Willy McBurgle

i have 60 gigs free…and I went through many hours of diagnostic and finally got a replacement which has the SAME problem. None of my other devices suffer from video streaming issues including my PS3, Samsung SmartTV, Laptop ,etc. The problems all started after the most recent dashboard update and Microsoft is blaming me for the problem!

        • Lee Rayson

The only issue I had with my Elite when it had loading problems was due to my gamertag size being 75 MB, after a few recovered it now down to 20 MB perhaps you could be having same issue. really doubt it the xbox or new dash because the new dash is actually faster than the old

          • Adam Thompson

I haven’t heard of anyone else having an increase of speed under the new dashboard.

          • Lee Rayson

Most of the people who were in the beta mentioned it running faster

        • Willy McBurgle

who the hell would vote this down??? LOL!

  • Willy McBurgle

why get mad – i just use the PS3 now

  • tomo008866

Oh my gosh, when is Ireland going to get apps? I’m ABSOLUTELY SICK AND TIRED of paying MORE than they pay in the United States, and they get a bunch more support. Yeah, that’s right. We pay €59.99 and they pay $59.99. Do Microsoft realise that there’re different currencies in this world? This is terrible.

    • Dr4gOnsFuRy

£48? That is ridiculously over priced. Why not buy online from the UK? Cheapest I’ve bought Live for is £15 and that was for 14 months. Average price is £26. Ebay is a good place to look.

    • rich155

      Dude, get a PS3 already.

    • BostonSup

Right now Xbox Gold in the US isn’t worth the price. All they do is give you apps and most have a fee on top of the Gold we are already paying for. Xbox isn’t about value, and the Xbox brand is going to take a hit come next generation because of it. :(

    • QuixoticRocket

Because everywhere in the world has the same taxation and cost of living and rent and wages etc right? So all prices should work on the currency exchange rate! It’s an inalienable human right and MS are violating my rights by charging me money!
You do realise that they need to have data warehouses that take up space, and are filled with equipment that needs to be maintained, and are staffed by people… for each region right? Or would you like to deal with the lag when all the datahouses are in the US only?

Also: shop around for a better deal. If I can get a better price in London then you’re paying way too much. Try Amazon.

      • tomo008866

Tax doesn’t raise the price by $18. If Microsoft were being fair, they’d at least lower the price by €10 to compensate for the lack of apps we get. We’re being ripped off in Ireland and that’s that. If tax is interfering with the price, then Microsoft should lower their price in Ireland. If the US gets all the premium services and apps for a lower price than we get these ‘servers’, then they should only charge us for the ‘servers’ and nothing else.

Also, I’m comparing the price Microsoft charge for one year. That reflects the price you can get it for in that country overall.

        • QuixoticRocket

I think you’re missing the all the points… don’t buy it if it vexes you so much.

    • QuixoticRocket

Oh, also: MS aren’t to for your lack of apps. If no companies in Ireland want to make an app then MS can’t force them to.
Blame region blocking and trade agreements maybe, but if you want more local apps start petitioning local businesses to get their acts into gear.

  • Nitramuse

Finally some content for the Netherlands!
That the app is practically useless is a different story.

  • bill

    Need a Jessica Chobot app

    • Lee Rayson

Too far………….it bad enough some people class her as a girl gamer, she is the worse description as a girl gamer

  • ElektroDragon

Microsoft should drop paid multiplayer and just adopt a PS Plus type of model. Now that Nintendo is in HD, they’ll be in a world of hurt otherwise.

  • jeff koecher

Can we get a update to the Hulu Plus app to have folders (like the roku)? When you have 6 episodes of a show it’s unweildly to browse, if there was a folder for each show that would be awesome. (Not sure where I can officially request this).

  • jo elster

give us a spotify app, please!

  • Michael Mills

Where’s ITV Player in the UK? ITV Player on PS3 is so bad!

  • Nick Peck

A: It’s an American company and an American console B: They sell more and do more here so we are the bigger focus. It’s simple business. It’s ok, we hate you idiots as well :D

  • BostonSup

Nice little rant there. You feel better now? Next time keep your ignorant, hateful, and meaningless comments to yourself. There is no need for sharing your ignorance on people who happen to be born into, moved to, or otherwise live in a different country than you. This also applies to anyone living in any country, even the US. After all, the internet proved long ago that stupidity and ignorance knows no bounds (or national boundaries).

  • Adam Thompson

It’s worse in Australia. US corporations must think that the Aussie dollar is still valued at half the US dollar, instead of $1.something – it’s not just gold and MS points either, also downloadable disc games. Of course, they aren’t the only digital item selling up to twice the price in Australia, Apple & Steam are other offenders too (US$90 for games in Aus instead of US$40 in other places) and when it’s digital, they don’t have to pay more to transport data over the Internet to Australia.

  • Glenn Tay

Good that Netherlands is in app list.
Rtl xl will be fun, in xbl.
