Deal, Marketplace By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

  • Steve Thompson

Now this is a pretty good deal.. not an amazing deal but still good enough to allow my son to convince me to get him one of these games as an early present (He choose Harry Potter). At $10 they are close to store prices and I’d rather have these types of games on my HDD so I don’t have to worry about a lost or damaged disk.

    • Jan Václavík

On the other hand he could borrow the disc to his friends (provided some have 360).

    • Fernando Coli Viotto

Hi Steve, if you’re an Indiana jones fan get Lego Indiana Jones 2 with no hesitation. Very well made game full of nostalgia.

And by the way the difference between Indiana Jones 1 and 2 is that the latest one is a improved version so you dont need to grab the 1st one at all.

  • Thânia Santos

as it often happen in my area (europe),
we have access to these deals, but the Xbox dashboard as not been updated with those informations.
If I was not coming regularly on the Major Nelson blog, there will be no way for me to know that those deals were available.

While I pay the same price for my gold account as anybody else, I definitly got a worst service than the other.

  • Ondřej Tupý

I find it utterly stupid that most those deals are available at some (big) markets only. As a Czech Xbox LIVE user I feel like a 2nd class customer. Grrr >:-|

    • Thânia Santos

same feeling here, living a few countries west from you.
but check, your local xbox website by clicking on the link above.
you might see the price reduction.

even if the deals are not advertised on the xbox dashboard,
we often have access to it,
we just need to access to those deals by ourself, stay informed with major nelson, and go buy the games all trough the game list in the market place, or with our local xbox website.

yes, most ‘small european countries’ have bad bad bad xbox service… (no up to date, lack of information, lack of service, less apps, broken link, missing games/feature/market content etc etc etc)

damn, we pay the same price for gold!

    • Z4M0

I know the feeling, give them time, who knows… my country finally got some of those sweet stuff only big markets had. Keep complaining; maybe if there are enough of you they will consider sharing those privileges in your region.

    • dools

Try searching for the games individually in the marketplace. This happened last year in Ireland. The offers were not advertised on the dashboard but were still available. You just had to know which were discounted and search them seperately

    • Nitramuse

      I concur.

  • Onno Van Der Wijden

bought Harry Potter for 10 euros, but why is Pirates 15 euros in the Netherlands?

    • Guest

      Because it’s a newer game.

  • Lee Rayson

got them all, they should put harry potter 5 to 7 on though id bought it

  • chris

Why for Australia is batman Lego $29.95?
Also why is Lego Pirates $19.95 and not $9.99.
Hope this gets fixed, we should be getting the same deals as America

  • LCJalternative

So, let me get this straight… for someone in America to buy GoD Lego PotC it costs them 800 points, however for someone in England it costs 1440 points! Is that right?
Over 75% more! Are you taking the piss or what?
I don’t wish to get personal Larry, but you never ever reply to any questions except if someone wants to know when “game X/Y/Z” is coming out and the odd “I’ve passed your comments onto those in the marketing dept” post.
Seriously, I would love for someone to come on here and try to explain to me and others why these prices are like they are and why people are getting ripped off.
You’re the conduit, you show that you have the bollocks to stand up for yourself (because you do take a LOT of undue flack on here, simply because it’s your blog) and for the company who employs you.
If you can’t/daren’t/won’t do it then please get me someone who will.

    • DrOs

      Shipping lol

  • Nathan

Very tempting deals for the Lego games! I might have to grab one or two of them…

  • NewfieJG

If you had more deals like this, I’m sure Games On demand would become a hit. Games =10.00 or less and the oldest games = 5.00 or less. all in all, hopefully these type of deals become a new trend for Microsoft cause they are certainly making up for the black friday deals

    • Nathan

Agreed. I’ve gotten a few GoD games recently because of the sales. I also picked up all the DLC for said games since they were on sale, too.

    • RicardoDawkins

So true. Got Assasins Creed II and Darsiders for 800 msp each.

  • Chris Hofer

These were already on sale yesterday, too. :-/

  • Tylerh1701

    WOOHOO AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Thânia Santos

      watch out!
it’s full of european around here ….

  • Chris Grub

I don’t care what anyone says, thanks for the better deals.

  • Bobby B

    Harry Potter is a blast!

  • Ryan Davis

These deals are better than before, but still not doing much to compete with retailers. If the GoD version is the same price as retail, I’ll go for the disc every time.

  • Curtis Isabell

wow, this can actually be classified as a sale, thanx, but I don’t want lego games :|

  • JeyNyce

And I have all of those games.

  • Thânia Santos

japanese Microsoft point are even more expensive…

  • Major Nelson

Well that’s certainly not true at all. I run this blog and post what I think I, as a gamer, would like to know.

Regarding Bobby: Where is /his/ blog or his replies (like this) to the community?

    • LCJalternative

      Oh, come on! Seriously?
He insults you and you reply, I ask a simple question and you ignore it?
So, does that mean the only way to get you to reply is to start ripping into you to make you bite? I’m too old for that, and so are you.
Is it the fact that you are unable to answer the question? If so, can you do your usual and pass my comments onto the right department and maybe get a quote from them?
You obviously read my comment to know what Miller was on about, to not even acknowlege it… that was low.

    • Gavin Grayson

As a gamer I would like to know why the Xbox DotW and all the other promotions are the biggest advert for the PS3 that Sony never needed to make.

    • Miller

Well it certainly seems like it. You only reply when troll posts arise like my one. 90% of your responses are only in response to heavy criticism. Like LCJ said, you read mine due to the ‘trolling’ w.e. and ignore him. That’s exactly what i’m getting at, ignoring everyone, but you’ll happily take their cash.

  • Hugoku

Great deals! Too bad about the pricing. In this case, I am very much happy with it as I’d be paying less than the US! Downside is that not all Lego games are available.

  • Chad Strong

Major – Star Wars TCS is showing for full price in the store. I was going to purchase but not at full cost.

  • Michael Andrews

Why does Star Wars tcs come up at 29.99 instead of 14.99?

  • Gavin Grayson

    a) More expensive in the UK than in the US
    b) Some are cheaper retail.
