Xbox 360 TOMB RAIDER Limited Edition Wireless Controller + how to win one

Today we are announcing the Xbox 360 TOMB RAIDER Limited Edition Wireless Controller. I did a quick video (above) that shows a few of the features and laser etched details. I also posted more photos on my Flickr page as well.  The controller will be priced at US $59.99 (MSRP, check your local retailer for pricing) and be available world-wide when the game launches in March. Here is the official press release:

Experience Lara Croft’s First Adventure with the Xbox 360 TOMB RAIDERLimited Edition Wireless Controller

At the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, Microsoft, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix unveiled the Xbox 360 TOMB RAIDERLimited Edition Wireless Controller – the perfect commemorative companion marking Lara Croft’s return to the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Developed in collaboration with artists at Crystal Dynamics, the design of the controller features a two-layer color finish with laser etching to create a realistic and tactile worn appearance inspired by Lara’s iconic climbing axe and the tourniquets that result from the adventure in her intense origin story, as told in this latest title. The controller also features a customizable D-pad that switches from a “plus” design to a “disc” pattern for better control, and a wireless range of up to 30-feet that allows for more freedom in your home environment as you explore and play the game.

In addition, those who purchase the Xbox 360 TOMB RAIDER Limited Edition Wireless Controller will receive a download token for an Xbox 360 exclusive playable TOMB RAIDER character. The controller will be available timed to the launch of the game worldwide and is priced at $59.99 (U.S. ERP).

Available beginning March 5, 2013, built from the ground up for the Xbox 360 and featuring add-on content which will be available first on the platform, TOMB RAIDER explores the intense and gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold. In the all-new TOMB RAIDER a survivor is born.

Honestly, the upcoming reboot is my favorite. It really looks to create a more realistic and human experience that focuses more on Lara as a real person with her own fears and faults and less on… well, something that feels pretty much like pandering.

  • Michael Kelehan

Legend. It was just a giant leap forward for the series.

  • Eric Walter

The original, it set the tone for series.

  • Andrew

I would have to say tomb raider 2

  • justin adams

The first cuz it started it all buff said I beli

  • Evan Daniel Cox

the first tomb raider just because it was my first experience with the series

  • Brody

My favorite is tomb raider ii because it brings back my childhood!

  • blueboykc

the original on the ps1. the game just wowed me. i had never seen anything like it. i remember stepping out of the tomb almost immediately being set upon by the t-rex and my jaw dropping. its one of the games that set me on this almost obsessive love for video games.

  • Ignacio Castillo

Tomb Raider, the first one. It was so exciting and the graphics were amazing for the day, i love it

  • SEGA_Scream

I actually hate the Tomb Raider series, but I need a new controller. Hey, at least I’m being honest.

  • Stellalune

It’s hard to choose just one, so I’m going to bend the rules a little and call it a tie between TR1 and Anniversary. The original game got me hooked, and I’ll always have a soft spot for it. Anniversary updates that same story and gives an even larger part to the best TR villain ever: Natla. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light isn’t technically a TR game, but I think it’s the best of the Crystal Dynamics games so far…and of course I’m looking forward to the new one!

  • Corey Lagunowich

Legend. It felt like the most compete package to me of puzzling, platforming, and combat. A great balance.

  • josh williams

definetly TR last revelation. the levels are more difficult becoz you have to go back to some of the previous ones to get and artifact, which results in longer game play (and getting lost quite a bit) i also found there is way more to do in TRLR.

  • SteveFNL

Mine has to be Tomb Raider II on the PC. Not being a big gamer at the time, this was about the only game I wanted to get right through to the end – totally enjoyable.

  • Connor Mogwai Harper

My fav is tomb raider 2 because the music and levels such as the wreck of the Maria doria was so amazingly diverse but the same complexity as the others x

  • Diane Marie Mc

You always love your first, so my favorite has always been the initial Tomb Raider!

  • docStrangluv

GoL. I know it isn’t exactly the most Tomb Raider game of the bunch, but it was right up my alley. I was glad they tried something new.

  • James Ward

Tomb Raider I. I was mostly into sports games at the time, and this was one of the first adventure games that got me started in a whole new genre.

  • Kevin Newitt

Original Tomb Raider was my fav, but looking forward to the new direction the upcoming game is heading.

  • Joe Eafrati

I have to go with Tomb Raider Legend. It is the one that revived the series, which needed it after Angel of Darkness, and turned me into a Tomb Raider fan.

  • Nico Pareja

My favourite Tomb Raider is Tomb Raider Legend because it’s the first Tomb Raider I played and it was a gift from my uncle whom I had not seen for many many years…

  • Daniel Staples

I’d say guardian is my favourite. The hours I put into that with my buddy was pretty ridiculous. He’d come over everyday and just play that, and once we’d complete it, we’d do it again. Anyway I have a controller collection on the go, (I have seven) so a limited edition Tomb raider controller would be the icing on the cake, to go with my Survival edition Tomb Raider in March. @Nigel_Jeffreys

  • Brian Peterson

Guardian of Light for the coop

  • Aline Lima

Tomb Raider II. It was the first game I’ve ever played, and I’ve spent many hours having fun and being scared by some very unexpected things (that T-Rex almost killed me) and trying to solve the puzzles with my brother. We still get together to play it from time to time until this day. :)

  • Patryk Soczynski

At the moment TR: Anniversary is the best oportunity to come back to
original, first adventures of Lara on new gaming platforms. You can once
again visit well known places but with graphics and many improvments. I
wish more oldschool games had such versions!

  • maxidid

it has to be legend as i was my first time with lara ( didn’t own a ps1 or saturn)

  • durbanbrown

guardian of light cause its on live. good game.

  • Will

The original Tomb Raider on PS1 by far. Many memories & ground breaking as far as where games went from there. @x_diistance

  • Jeff Glasson

The original Tomb Raider will always have the top spot in my heart. It’s hard to beat the first experiences delivered by the title that launched the franchise! That being said, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming release and the new direction of the storyline!

  • Jonathan Torres

The original Tomb raider! You never forget your first.

  • John Bumpass

I would have to say that my favorite Tomb Raoder game is The Angel of Darkness, because even though it was one of the more underestimated and under appreciated games of the series (Second to Legend), I still loved it for its dark storyline, atmospheres in the different worlds and levels, and most importantly the darker side to Lara that most fans of the series had never seen up until that point.

  • Carrot

I always thought Tomb Raider 2 was the best. It had the same charm as the original, but the locales were much more varied and the challenges were much more fleshed out.

  • Shawn Renaud

Anniversary, tho I am looking forward to the new game.

  • Alona Virginia Leath

As much as I say that Tomb Raider II is my favorite game of the series, I think that Legend holds a far more special place in my heart. I didn’t get a chance to play the older games very much because I was young when they came out and since they belonged to my older sister, she took them with her when she went to college, so I went years without even thinking about Tomb Raider. But one day when I was 14 I rented Legend after it had just come out and played it; I immediately fell in love with the game series all over again, but this time because I was actually old enough to comprehend the story and it wasn’t just running around climbing walls. I know that without having played Legend that one time, I wouldn’t be reintroduced to the series and it probably wouldn’t be my absolute favorite game series of all time like it is now.

  • PicasoTrigger

the first was the most fun for me, mostly just the exploring aspects

  • Eric Wilborn

Gotta be the original. It was an instant classic in my eyes. Plus it paved the way for the rest of this greatness…

  • Manuel Callejon

Tomb Raider 2, without a doubt! Retained the magic of TR1 plus its spirit, truly a joy to play. Sequels missed something about the original concept IMHO.

  • Jacob morris

The guardian of light it was so fun

  • wingf00t

The original Tomb Raider is still my favorite one of the series. Actually it is one of my top five games of all the games that I have played. The Lost Valley still brings back good memories.

  • adam hopkins

i would pick tomb raider 2 bc i loved playing the obstacle course and exploring laura’s house.

  • Terranoid

Tomb Raider 2. It has tigers, what else is there to say.

  • Pin Monkey

I don’t really have a favorite Tomb Raider game. I just need a new controller and can’t get one right now. This fella looks great though!

  • Kyrok7

Tomb Raider: Guardian of the Light. Good co-op and entertaining levels.

  • James H

Has to be Tomb Raider II for me. The Venice levels were so much fun.

  • Don Smutny

I love the first Tomb Raider game. It set the stage for so many games that followed, both in the TR series and beyond.

  • Christian Hoefly

Tomb Raider Chronicles, loved the level design and the use of horror elements was something I loved back in the day

  • Erik Harty

I’m thinking my favorite Tomb Raider is gonna be this upcoming one.

  • Jason

The first one was the best, because it was firs

  • Gregory McGillicuddy

Tomb Raider 1, the original — because it was so cool at the time, and still is. @bassguygt

  • Paul K

The very first tomb raider. I was in middle school and I remember the first part where you train in Lara Crofts home. It was a very fun and somewhat scary game with the dinosaurs during that time. Great memories ^^
