Framerate issues (XBOX), Buyer Beware. But still got it on my WP

    • QuixoticRocket

So check the demo first? Thanks for the warning.

Despite its issues, it is a decent game. I just think 1200 msp is too much for a 200 mb game.

what has filesize to do with the quality of a game?

        • http://twitter.com/Olimite Neil Grace

Nothing, but the more people pay 1200 for XBLA games, the more inclined Microsoft will be to ignore lower price points.

I have to pay $22 with taxes for 1400 points in Canada. That makes it an instant pass.

Tbh 800msp games have around 3-6 hours of gameplay. But then again I still don’t want 1200 msp to become the norm. We’re getting shafted too much as it is. And with a launch framerate problem, why should they charge 1200 msp for this?

Why is it 50% more expensive on the Xbox 360 than on any other platform?

  • ElektroDragon

$15 for Flash game level graphics. Hmmmm….

Tried it on Surface it okay but does get boring quickly. though gunstringer game out a few weeks ago at £0.99 then 2 weeks later it was free so ill wait an see if it drops in price on the surface

The current price on Surface IS the sale price. Though I’m sure if you wait like a year or something, then it could go lower than $10.

      • Lee Thomas Rayson

No it wont be a year, when it comes for sales on the surface there not a lot to choose from(there about 10 games atm and most are free anyhow) so I give it a couple of months

Great game! Unfortunately there is a problem with the demo showcasing just how deep this game can be as far as strategy. The reason I say this is because the first level shows all the basic movements and such just fine, but then the second level available in the demo simply thrusts you much farther into the campaign and showcases a full battle yet does not expand upon other major components of the game.

For example, you can harvest “money” (rice) and haunt statues and such to get additional resources like troops or special classes like monks. They all have their own abilities, and there is even a risk/reward NPC troop that randomly hurts EVERYONE on the screen, even your own team. Also, there is a gameplay mechanic that lets the general meditate at the beginning of the game and for every round you DON’T move him, he gains HP. There is a whole slew of things not explained in the demo that are present in that second level. If you watch gameplay videos and such, you can see that there is much more to this game than what you can find in the trial, and the full game will take you through the tutorials to learn those elements.

Hope that encourages people to see what else this game has to offer, I’m having fun with it!

Also, to the people complaining about file size.. castle crashers is, I believe under 100 megs and geometry wars is like 20. Chrono trigger is 32 ;-p file size does not mean bite size!

To those comparing the game to flash style graphics.. you said it yourself. STYLE. The game is hand drawn, the elements are thoughtfully stylized in a consistent theme. So, it’s got bold lines making charming player models and has a good cartoon style look without pixilation or jaggedness. Because of the attention paid to making this game look as great as it can, play as well as it does without taxing the hardware, you can play it on multiple platforms and not experience a disconnect of graphics and usability. That is a feat, and to generalize it as something that is not worth your time because it looks remind you of something else, even if they are two totally different things.. is mistaken.

Great post! I agree, the game is quite complex once you get a little further in. I bought it the second it came out for my Lumia 920 and have been loving it ever since (a little clunky trying to select a particular unit when your units are all grouped together, but it’s a 4.5″ screen, so I’ll let that one slide, lol).

Does it seem like there just isn’t much interest in XBLA titles anymore? Hardly any comments, and when there are it is mostly about price. It’s a shame. There are lots of games on there that are a ton of fun, but they just seem to vanish into obscurity right away.
