Complaining sucks, getting a valid point across can be the only valuable way for a company to understand their customer base better. The ONLY reason I pay for Live is party chat with my friends, even that is a waste of $. I look for deals and contests to cushion the blow, otherwise I wouldn’t be a Live subscriber. Probably won’t be come next console generation.

that argument makes you sound like a moron. just because you can afford something doesn’t mean you should go out and buy it. I can buy another ps3 or 360 but what would I? I have both systems, and I just reupped my xbox gold ( probably for the last time) and PSN+.

You should do some research before talking.
both the 360 and ps3 lost money per sale because the companies eat the cost of consoles. they than both make it up through software and accessories. each company gets a small bit of money each game sold, this is why xbox will want games like COD to sell well. they also make it back through accessories, xbox sells a 250gb hdd for the same price as a 1tb hdd litterally there is no difference between them but size and case.

the reason sony lost a lot this year was they lost tax credits, they didn’t actually lose billions and billions of yen they lost tax credits equal to that, they had them on the books for years and had to record the loss of an asset as net loss.

another big thing is it took a long time for the ps3 to be profitable~ break even per sale. this was due to the sheer cost of the console the super slim ps3 iirc breaks even each sale. The 360 after a few years was profitable to sell

that said sony is cutting a lot of the junk from their company, like their tv division and stuff. the playstation is one of sony’s only profitable items and them cutting out the rest to focus on what has done well is a good thing.

A comment that was actually factual * claps*. Also that’s the reason Sony is dying. Cutting those things will then have most of Sony’s workers laid off, and having a console and a limited amount of appliances won’t bring their company back to a positive profit to any of their 4 quarters for many years.

Considering that the company laid off 10 % of their workers last summer and still can’t get their debt off their shoulders, also Sony is not the only tv company anymore and their failing at that too. Lol you call that propaganda when Sony admits their company is not good enough for MS? You live under a rock?

Except, what if the person who has the only gold account on the console wants to take his profile to a friends house – but while he is out someone else in the house might want to watch Netflix?

As it stands now, you HAVE to be signed into a profile with a gold account which means if the only gold profile is out of the house on a USB memory stick, you’re screwed.

THAT is why its not fair that apps are locked to gold accounts. As there are plenty of people who might want to watch Netflix, etc, that otherwise would never touch a games console. So them having a Xbox Live account, never mind a gold account, would be utterly pointless.
