Things to do on Xbox LIVE Weekend

If you are in the Northeastern part of North America, you’ve got quite a weekend  in store. Winter Storm Nemo is your unscheduled guest this weekend and she (he?) may leave quite the mess upon departure. Be sure to read up on how to deal with a Blizzard. Assuming you’ve taken the proper precautions to keep your family pets and home safe as the storm blows through (and your power remains on!) I wanted to suggest a few things to do on Xbox LIVE this weekend.

These are just a few, feel free to add your own in the comments below.

Wherever you are stay safe, have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Xbox LIVE.

That’s really cool of you. That’s the kind of customer integration we love.

        • http://twitter.com/HeyImSwat Daniel

Yeah but where’s the proof he actually did.

My area in the UK is snowed in also. Am i allowed to follow these suggestions?

    • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

Of course. Weather knows no boundaries.

Nor do your shameless plugs and PR, it seems.

Watch a bluray movie? oh wait…

    • The Dukenator

      That’s why I own both a ps3 & 360.

      • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

I have a much better solution than a PS3 as a bluray player…. my stand alone Sony wifi bluray player which loads Bluray movies 3x faster. I would never use a console to play movies and put the wear and tear on the disk drive. Anyhow my PS3 is long gone and I have already abandoned the brand for good. I honestly have lost all faith in the playstation brand after this generation for too many reasons to list here.

        • The Dukenator

Yet, you’re here on an xbox blog complaining about it.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

Yet you are here on an xbox blog complaining about a “STATEMENT” I made that you miscontrued as a complaint? See what I did here? Please learn the difference between complaining and making a statement.
It’s a wise idea not to use your PS3 for BD movies if you have a stand alone player. I think anyone would agree.

Since migrating my gamertag to Latvia, so I practically nothing of it all is no longer available! :(

Tee Hee – Major offers tens of thousands of options. I’m so going to read this if anyone dares to tell my ‘I’m bored’ this weekend.

  • Ewan Stewart

Rockstar Games has triple XP on the whole weekend for Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption!

  • tabicat

And what happens if the storm takes out our Internet? At least we’ll be able to play our single-player games. Oh, wait. When the Xbox 720 requires you to be connected to the Internet to play all games, you won’t even be able to do that!

    • ElektroDragon

Whatever company takes that step first will immediately lose the console war. And if both Sony and MS take that step simultaneously, Nintendo will win by default. It would be commercial suicide.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

You’re a fool if you think Microsoft will do that, stop falling into rumors and use common sense. Not everybody in the world has Internet access! Why woud they do that and risk consumer purchases?!

  • ElektroDragon

TV being used by other members of the house? Buy a Wii U. ;)

    • http://twitter.com/damashedavenger kit walker

or a cheap android tablet for less than half the price and comeplay “the infinite black” with me :)

  • michael

can we get some free xbox live weekend down here lol?

  • lethargicj

My Xbox Live hasn’t worked right since Friday. According to twitter posts it’s down for a lot of people. So this post feels a tad sarcastic to me.

    • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

‘a lot of people’ like who else ? We have not had any major issues. Perhaps it is an ISP issue?

      Did you check this page?

      http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status

Also did you hit up @XboxSupport on Twitter?

      • lethargicj

Like I said, I searched on twitter for others being affected and found a lot and have been talking to some. And we all have the same issue. Our connection works, but Live doesn’t. The connection test works and connects to Live, but signing in normally does NOT connect to Live. Support’s suggestion was to re-download profile. That worked, but only during that play session. Once the console was turned off and back on, it was disconnected again.

I love how this is presented.
“Things to do on Xbox Live Weekend”
“F**KING…PANIC! YOUR AREA IS GONNA GET WRECKED!
    But first buy our products!”
You don’t wanna act like you care for ones safety and then throw a sales pitch in there.
    Just don’t.
Everyone who isn’t living under a rock [not a daily Xbox LIve user] knows what xbox live offers already, don’t need a weather forcast to tell us that.

  • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

I did send them an email (as I said I would)
