Skyrim is the only SP-only game on the list. No wonder developers force MP into every game.

  most SP only games are over in 12 hours and it’s not worth playing again, skyrim takes 100+ hours to do the majority of the game unless you rush through it.
  
  I put 170 hours in skyrim without DLC and only put 35 into ME3 which not only had single player but a fun multiplayer as well.

  120 hours in the xbox version. Bought it again on steam for the high res textures and the awesome mods and started all over again.
  
  Skyrim is 2 years old now, and I still play it at least once a week, and I love every second of it.

I’ll never understand how a “Level Editor” that pretends it’s a game is so popular and loved by so many. It boggles my mind as I will never understand the appeal of Mindcraft.

    Why, isn’t that exactly what it is? That’s what it appeared like to me when I tried the demo out for over 30 minutes? It just didn’t intrest me in the slightest. The fact that I have never considered myself artistically creative doesn’t help matters either. To each their own, but I’ll never understand the appeal at all, just like I will never understand the appeal of PC gaming.

      did you never play with legos as a kid? that is what minecraft is but never ending blocks, there is also a mode where you have to mine said blocks and survive monsters. it’s really that simple.

      it had a terrible single player, firefight in ODST was terrible and had no matchmaking. the single player was halo 3 and they still had the nerve to sell the game for $40 at launch, it was supposed to be a $10-$15 expansion pack. so yes it is the worst halo game.
      
      ODST’s were the same as spartans. No stealth elements at all the silenced weapons were literally the same as halo 3 weapons just looked and sounded differently. the story, though better than 4, was still very forgettable to the majority of fans.
      
      unless there is some like random halo game I haven’t played ODST is the worst, I played halo CE halo 2, 3,4 halo wars ODST anniversary and reach. ODST is by far the worst of all of them.

        it was supposed to be an arcade game at first, then some big shot decided to rip people off and bring it to retail. it is a great game, i would say its better than 4 myself.
        
        the only things i didnt like about it were the sounds the odst guys made when getting shot and red screen.

        I think it would have been a fine DLC or stand alone arcade game at the $10-15 price range, but you don’t rate games on sale prices you rate at the launch price and well… it was terrible for said price and a disgrace to halo’s namesake. it could have been awesome to have a stealth element in the single player and a multiplayer with a more rainbow 6 feel, but they opted to just make spartans called ODSTs.

        you’re right about the price curtis would have been a great arcade game, but i got more value for money than paying 75 euro for halo4 (which is the most i have ever paid for any game without dlc).

        Nah, Halo 4 is the worst and Halo Reach is barely better than ODST. Firefight was great and new but it sounds like you didn’t have any friends to enjoy it. Besides that I agree.

        I had friends with ODST and we all agree it was trash. the problem with firefight in ODST was simple, it was litterally the same every time I think it was every 10 waves a skull was turned on and that was the only difference…. boring. one thing that would have saved firefight was more vehicle oriented maps, there was 1 map with 1 warthog, if there were more it would have been much better. firefight was terrible because it was boring in 2 hours, sorta like bulletstorms multiplayer.

        Well the enemies were mixed up each round and it came down to strategy for how far you got. Of course the instant gratification crowd isn’t going to like it but still far more rewarding than the same old rehashed twitch multiplayer. There was nothing radically new in Halo after ODST.

        it had nothing to do with instant gratification, it was a long and drawn out game mode that wasn’t fun. after a few waves no one wanted to play it anymore, it’s like trying to go through 50 waves of horde in 1 sitting, no one likes doing that, the only difference is horde every few days you can go through 10-20 waves firefight after you did it once you done it 100 times, spartan ops is much better than firefight but its still just OK at best.

        So you just hate survival modes and are looking at entertainment on the superficial level. The reward is how far you can get, team strategy and adapting to the computer getting more difficult. Lots of people go all the way through in horde mode and spartan ops is just a tacked on campaign.

        no again you are fishing, I loved survival modes like zombies and horde, firefight in ODST was just trash. in reach it was much better and more fun but in ODST it was garbage you were expected to fight the same enemies with different skulls on, it was slow and boring every time, there was little “strategy” it was halo, you had ammo, you shot enemies and took cover when you had too it wasn’t good, but don’t take my word for it, look at how so few people even bought the game and how fast people returned it.
        
        also yea spartan ops is a tacked on campaign, but it’s better than ODST as a whole.

        Firefight in Reach was better but the problem was that it came out years later with not much change. I harp on Reach with brining practically nothing new and Halo 4 with reducing itself to a Halo/call of duty hybrid with nothing new besides other than a mech. Though I agree horde and even zombies has more strategy than ODST, there was still team strategy where if you just “shoot and take cover” and play independently, you won’t get far.
        
        Still if you can’t even sit through a match of horde even once you’re not going to appreciate any survival game mode to begin with.

I wrote this last week and here we are
I wonder if they sold more copies during this promotion than they did since the game was launched.

When some people see small prices, they don’t even think. They just buy.
This should be the appeal, at least, for Gold Members: discounts in EVERY single game (I’m not even saying to rent them, as the competitor service do) + a decent Deal of the Week.

C’mon, soon we will have a new Xbox… it’s about time to sell out loads of old content…

    Obviously, I want everything to carry over, as well as the retrocompatibility with our physical media… but I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut those features off.
    
    But, in this case, I’m referring about games / DLCs with 5, 6 years old that never had a price cut or were on a deal. Or those newer games that nobody buys (e.g.: Hydrophobia, as we checked this last week).

      at first I was like “not carrying over? this guy is crazy to believe that”, then I stop and thought about it. I dont believe in most of these new xbox rumors, but I do believe that it wont be backwards compatible just to encourage people to go digital and use Games On Demand. If its not BC, then all those DLCs everyone bought will be useless unless they suck it up and buy the games over again digitally
      To someone else, I know that sounds crazy to believe too, but this is the same company who put over price games on the market, you think they wont do such a thing? And if the Blu Ray rumor is true, best believe the DVD playback feature is going bye bye. Having boh features will cost too much to manufacture, Sony cut their Ps2 BC for such reasons on their PS3.
      You think Microsoft will care that you cant play 360 games on it? No, they will tell you to buy a Xbox360 and deal with it.

        sony stopped PS2 playback because the actually hardware to allow that to run well was expensive, not sure why software emulation was cancelled though. I don’t think either console will be backward compatible, not that it matters, there haven’t been any games this gen worth going back for.

  why not have both. free games and discounts like PSN+. I don’t think a wide sweeping discount will work unless it’s a good discount, knowing MS it will be like 5% off or something small like that.

  Lets see? For starters, Dead Space 3 doesnt have multiplayer competitive modes. It doesnt have a four player campaign, let alone two player split-screen co op. And based on what I gathered from some people, they didnt like Dead Space 3 on the account that it felt nothing like the past games.

  horizon was meant to be a more accessible racer, but forza style racing is pretty boring, I loved horizon for the price I got it at ($15 new on black friday) but I see why people play 4 more, after playing forza 2 and 3 horizon felt like an arcade racer.
