Additional Xbox LIVE Ultimate Game Sale items on sale

We kick off the “Xbox LIVE Ultimate Game Sale” today. Each day between now and March 4th, well have a new set of Games On Demand on-sale that I’ll post on Twitter.

Remember: You can also use Points to purchase these games.

On the console: When you are are the purchase screen, before you select “Confirm Purchase” press X and you’ll be able to choose points to purchase the game. Press X again to change back to your local currency.

On Xbox.com: Click buy game, then when the “Confirm Purchase” screen pops up, click “Use Microsoft Points”

Update: There is currently a system issue regarding MS Points showing the incorrect price. The team is working on it. So if you want to purchase via points, you should hold off for a bit. Issue resolved.

I’ll buy some of these as soon as the MSP issue is worked out. Currently, when you try to buy El Shaddai and switch to MSP, it tries to charge you 480MSP ($6) instead of 240MSP ($3). It’s charging twice as much if paying by MSP.

Be sure to watch the points total when you pay with points. Price showed up as $2.99 for El Shaddai but it charged me 480 MS points. Double the cost it should be. Now I’ll have to fight with customer support to get my points back. Great way to start off a big sale.

I’d be all over El Shaddai, but the prices are wrong in points. $2.99 should be 240 msp, but it comes up as 480 msp.

$4.99 games should be 400 msp, but are coming up as 440.

    There’s a lot to like about El Shaddai, but if you’re an achievement hunter it could become the bane of your existence. Only 2% completion on TrueAchievements, out of almost 4,000 tracked players.

Hey guys, I tried to buy GRID, but it says “This item isn’t available from your current location.” Xbox can detect where it is atm? :O My account is UK, but I don’t live there, but everything worked for me since I created it Tried with different account, but everything is same. Now I am trying to do that with PC, but all i get is: “Sorry Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again.” ; Or when I try with different account it says its not available because its teen or child (my account is adult, at least it says it on xbox and pc when i look at it). So anyone know how to make my purchase happen? Please help!

at today’s conversion rate Dollar-Euro $1 = 0.77euro

$2.99 = 2.29euro which is 192.36msp….

it costs 1 euro for 84 microsoft points here 25 euro for 2100msp so

$4.99 = 3.82euro which is 320.88msp

El Shaddai is $5.99 on Amazon. Why buy it here, even if it is $2.99? You have to wait for it to download, and it takes up HD space, which I’m sure we’re all short on. And you can’t resell it to make you money back!

    Agreed. If you buy a for $6 or less, GS will likely give you less than a dollar for it. And, at that price, its as cheap as a rental, so you’re getting an amazing deal.
    Btw, El Shaddai is an interesting game – not the finest spectacle fighter, and the pacing is awkward, but its still fun.

  Well put it this way, you don’t have to wait on it being delivered, it’s not taking up shelf space, you don’t have to get up and swap whatever game you have in the disk tray to play it, you can delete the game when you’re done and redownload it again whenever you feel like replaying it and you can pin the game to the pins menu so instead of navigating the marketplace you have it right there to download at the touch of a button.
  
  It’s also cheaper than a physical copy and I imagine most people aren’t going to be bothered about making $2.99 back. Quite a lot of people, myself included don’t tell to sell games on once we finish them.

  Same problem with Dirt 2 is South Africa. $4.99 should be around R44 but it is showing as R149. Seemingly it is only the US that can get it cheap. Every other game equates about right based on the exchange rate. I wish Major Nelson would comment on this and say whether it is correct and what the reason could be.
  
  Unfortunately out of all the persistent offers only three are available on the ZA market (Call of Juarez, Dirt 2 and Bioshock). Not sure how MS hopes to sell these if they are not available in most markets.

Because economics and supply and demand work differently in each region. Just be happy you don’t live in Australia where they pay a million Aus dollars for the cheapest game.

Cost to host / salaries etc all differ from region to region. It’s pretty standard to have region specific pricing.

    I don’t know why Aus prices are so high. I know that hosting is (a bit more) expensive there, but boxed games should be reasonable. It must have something to do with the amount of demand and needing to import rather that local production.
    I also suspect local distributors controlling the pricing, but I don’t know enough about economics or the market to fully get to grips with it.

Wasn’t going to get anything from the sale, but now that they’re this cheap, who can say no? My only complaint is for the games that have DLC, if the games is $5 and the DLC is $10, I tend to avoid the game, you should have discounted both to increase sales of DLC alongside their games.
