Erm I think it is a poor choice of words “slacker” since this content is aimed at latin americans

      Lee Rayson,

Slacker is the name of a separate music app that is launching, the Latin specific application is called Zona Latina. The name for the music app was probably inspired by the lifestyle of the younger crowd, those who like to skim over posts and make assumptive replies without reading the content or those who read comic books all day and have batman as their profile icon..

..but thanks for assuming it was somehow connected to people of my ethnicity, we appreciate that.

        David Garcia,

I think he simply misread it, but thanks for assuming everyone is racist.

It just makes the world so much easier to keep up with hatred like your own.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Garcia/1360847381 David Garcia

I never called him racist outright but certainly felt the need to point out the foolish reaction of seeing “Slacker” and “Latino” put together by process of skimming over a post, and coming in to the rescue by trying to break up something that actually had no connection in the first place. Racist is hate, and I doubt he goes around spitting out slurs to any and all people of different ethnicities but there HAS to be a calling of foul for his comment, lest he fails to see his “well intentioned” error.

Also, if you read his reply below,. I don’t think he’s worth your defense. Either there is no true thought process in anything he writes or English is not his primary (or secondary) language and hope of proper communication is lost upon him. I might find the language barrier excusable because generally with it comes cultural differences that might justify the thought process.. but let’s be honest, that’s probably not the case.

That was awesome. We need more people on the Internet like you. Thank you.

I’m assuming and your assuming I wasn’t being racist your assuming that like I assumed some people would take offence over the name of the app since we live in a world of stereo types

    • KLRSKIR

They are two different services. ;o)

    • EndrzGame

Erm, Zona Latina is one thing and the Slacker app is a completely different thing. But thanks for showing us how you think. Now we know.

Read my response to David garica

I thought the same when I read the headline… I was thinking about how I slack off and watch TV when I should be doing other things… I was like cool, I want a Slacker Interface… Then I read the article and realized it was two different things.

The title should be: Zona Latina & Slacker Apps launch on Xbox LIVE

There is no need for the quote around Zona Latina — or they should both have them… That is part of what makes it misleading.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who misread then

    • BigBernard

Why would you name a Hispanic app “Slacker”, that is extremely weird.

Is Tommy Chong sponsoring the Latina thing? He is one of Microsoft’s favorite Hispanics.

I’m very impressed with he fact that this doesn’t actually reaches any countries in South America where Xbox Live is absurdly lacking content.

Zona Latina is straight feminine. It might de tour a lot of the male audience. I speak spanish and I was reading this, I thought it was a section for latin women.
Latin Zone or even Zono Latino is better. Its the male “version” but it is the more generalized/ traditional version.
I mean, it looks great with a lot of content, but my initial thought was it was for women.
