bad, bad deals everyday… who still hasn’t bought some Halo game, Assassin’s Creed or COD at this point?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=785779443 Zack Stein

Xbox needs to make the Games on Demand a better deal before they’ll really be more popular. Very often the prices are the same or more than what is available at retail. And considering you aren’t left with a hard copy or case, it’s tough to pull the trigger on any Games on Demand sale. If G.O.D. games were $10 cheaper than their retail counterparts, I could see it being a viable way to purchase something. As it stands now, it seems like a greedy cash grab similar to a “convenience” store, or an airport kiosk – taking advantage of a customer that has no other means to purchase games. It just smacks of the worst of big business practices – and makes me really not want to stand behind this company moving forward.

      • http://twitter.com/GusRoDah Gus

I couldn’t agree more. But when we say it should be cheaper because there’s no case or physical disc, they play the convenience card on us, cause you don’t have to leave the house or wait for delivery…

        • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

It works for me. For two reasons. First, being able to browse the internet, or on my XBOX, and read reviews of games, and the like, before clicking a button and making a purchase. Second, I really could not be bothered changing discs whenever you want to play a game. It’s fine if you are the only person using the XBOX and your disc stays in there but as a family you each have your favourites which involves a lot of disc swopping!

Throw in the fact that MS points usually result in it being a bit cheaper in SA and it makes even more sense.

As for your comment about who does not own these titles already, well, me for one, and I’m sure many others who may have just recently bought their XBOX. As far as I am aware they are still selling well so there must be a few new gamers out there.

          • http://twitter.com/GusRoDah Gus

I see your point. But G.O.D. could and should be a little cheaper, with more deals like these throughout the year. Though it’s the 4th day of deals and unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy any of it so far. I hope at least the late comers to the Xbox find something worthy of their money.

  • http://twitter.com/faponit aXa

I could get all those titles for 50% less compared to discount price but there is no point, all the new cod games suck major dong (maybe besides 1st Black Ops) and everything up to MW2 is just little kids hack-fest don’t know about the new titles tho

  • JoeGrahamcracker

I’m not saying the CODs are terrible games, but I don’t understand how they are still so popular. It’s the same thing over and over and over. I honestly wish Call of Duty and Madden would both die like Guitar Hero did.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=785779443 Zack Stein

Look around the web at what people are saying about this “sale.” This is backfiring. I’ve been standing back, watching the Microsoft backlash that seems to have grown a bit more since the PS4 announcement. I’m wondering if the salad days of Xbox may be coming to an end. These things are cyclical. First, Sony could do no wrong. Then Xbox became the king of the hill. Now I sense a pendulum swing in the other direction. Look, I own both consoles. I’m not a hater. I’m just an observer. Overconfidence while turning a deaf ear to your base will most certainly lead to financial pain down the road. Pay attention, folks..

    • Nick Peck

This is just a sale they do yearly, it isn’t some “worried push” by MS to combat the ps4 like so many people think lol. Honestly, MS doesn’t have to do much to take the wind out of Sony’s sails, the ps4 is not that impressive. Oh looks, FB and twitter clips! (yawn). It’s funny how half the stuff they mentioned MS has already been doing and will of course do better on the next system.

MS does OS’s and UI’s better than anyone and I find it funny how the ps4 screen screams Win8 / live tiles… Sony needs to do good of course, if they flop the company is dead. MS has money and isn’t that worried and I bet that come the next Xbox reveal you will see some people coming down off of their high horses. Let’s be honest, both systems specs are almost identical and if anything, MS will bump a few things up to surpass the ps4 just to spite them.

It all comes down to the features and software. Halo and Gears are around the 75m sold mark while Killzone, Uncharted, Resistance and God of War are around the 55m sold mark, it isn’t ALL about the games. But like you said, you own both and that’s fine, I did too but sold of the ps3 twice because I just never played it. It’s going to be interesting to see how these two duke it out in features which is all I care about to be honest.

Graphics aren’t going to be light years ahead of what they are now so I hope everyone realizes that right now. It will look better for sure, but not by a lot. What will be better is interactions, animations, physics and the like which is what I care about. I want to run around in a game and bump a table and have it actually move. I want to shoot a rocket and have it actually damage what I shot….. that’s what we are going to see more of (at least I hope lol).

    • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

If, as a business, you listen to everything you “base” says you will also experience financial pain down the road as most of that base will be requesting that new games be sold for $1 and all old games be given away…

I have bought three games on the sale already, three that I would very likely not have bothered with, and I will no doubt be buying a few more which I have my sights on. I’d be rather interested to hear the sales numbers from this sale. We are hearing a few moans here but how many are buying. I am.

  • http://twitter.com/BlueShirt77 BlueShirt77

I love Xbox but I agree BLOPS2 should be cheaper for a digital sale. Come on guys…

    • Nick Peck

It’s a brand new game, that’s enough off for a sale lol. How many new $60 games do you see go on sale in a month or two for $30? Yep, none.

  • fried_egg

just downloaded a few of the £2.69 games – and the first one crashed and froze the xbox when it got to the “press start” stage. I really am starting to hate this system

  • http://twitter.com/chmima ChristianMacLauchlan

I’m assuming the game studios have a big say in how much Microsoft can sell the game for. It’s the only way I can rationalize COD 2 being the same price as COD MW2. Regardless, it’s refreshing that Microsoft is listening when we say the Game on Demand titles are too expensive. I’m crossing my fingers, hoping to see a Dead Space deal.

  • Paul B

Pretty dissapointing sale for COD. Most of the titles are cheaper to buy in a regular store..

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steve-Melton/574790934 Steve Melton

True, but some people prefer all-digital content. For example, I’ve got kids who love to walk around with CDs, DVDs, etc. So anything I can get digitally I do, especially if it’s only a few dollars more.

  • http://twitter.com/CodeMonkey76 Jake

I don’t get why digital on-demand games aren’t cheaper than used games. They’re pure profit for the developer and they can’t be resold into the market like disc games can. They can fight used game sales simply by undercutting them with digital sales prices.

    • http://twitter.com/dibils dibils

and then make the retailers angry who are the main focus of marketing??? and sales???

  • http://www.facebook.com/805.Michael Michael Fortner

World at war came out in 2008? Why isn’t that game at the most $5, at a non-discounted price.

  • http://twitter.com/knoppolis knoppolis

Ill just head over to Amazon and get what I need for less.

  • http://twitter.com/gibbeynator Jay Gibbs

Umm… is Resident Evil 4 supposed to still be on sale? Cuz it is for me.

    • H0RIZ0N

      you missed it.

      • http://twitter.com/gibbeynator Jay Gibbs

Well, it still says $9.99 for me. The only reason I haven’t jumped on it is because, even though they SAY they’ll only charge me $9.99 for it, they’ll probably just charge me the full 20.

        • H0RIZ0N

          buy with ms points then

  • http://twitter.com/AC_DanCastro Dan Castro

Come on! I’m just waiting for the Metal Gear Solid offers!

  • gerblanski

Pricing is all over the place, Black Ops 2 should be £33 not £44. World at War and Modern Warfare 2 are £11.99, which is $17.99?! Wouldn’t even think about buy CoDoD anyway but who the hell comes up with these? Pulling the exchange rates out of their asses if you ask me.

  • http://twitter.com/killpeek Pukemon.

thumbs down on this… RE6 and RE CODE VERONICA was a great deal… hope to see more deals like that one

  • http://www.facebook.com/l0ucifer Dominican Lou

dead island really isn’t much of anythinig unless you play with someone.

      • http://www.facebook.com/l0ucifer Dominican Lou

I know. Gonna play through with my cousin in Jersey.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mark.ortega.104 Mark Ortega

That and I dont see how they call those sale prices. I can get those for less thsn that on ebay.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Louis-Sutter/100002218025921 Louis Sutter

Black Ops 2 is $40 on amazon with free shipping Microsoft!!! $50 for digital is not a deal.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Christian-Armstrong/100001075322903 Christian Armstrong

How come modern warfare and world at war are $9.99 which works out at about £6.70 in the US but we lowly brits are being charged £11.99 which works out at about $18. If your gonna make a big song and dance about amazing deals, make them amazing for everyone and not just US customers for once. Rant over

  • James

Black Ops II is on sale at Bestbuy for $39.

  • BlinkFandango

I don’t see why CoD 2 and CoD 3 aren’t $5, makes no sense. I would have bought them for $5, but $10 is too much for a game I’ll play through once and never touch again.

  • http://twitter.com/NathanielFrost1 Nathaniel Frost

Pulled the trigger, yeah, full pun intended, and bought MW 2. This one is my favorite of the modern warfare series, love the Red Dawn vibe and references.

  • BlinkFandango

It was on sale by Newegg via eBay new with free shipping for $30 last week, (2 of my buddies got it), just checked though and it looks as though they’ve upped the price to $40.

  • http://bitinik.com Gabriel ‘Bitinik’

Mr. Nelson, do we have any chances to get an ‘Elder Scrolls Sale’? Pretty please? :'(

    • http://twitter.com/NAVARiN Bennijin

      What, another one?

      • http://bitinik.com Gabriel ‘Bitinik’

Yeah, unfortunately I missed that one. T-T

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

COD 4 and WaW are unplayable online due to cheaters, I am not sure about 2 or 3 as i haven’t touched them in about 5 years.

  • http://twitter.com/NoirTech Erick [DJ NoirTech]

Totally getting several of the $9.99 games.

  • BostonSup

Black Ops 2 is cheaper else where. World at War is very much broken (Multiplayer mode). Modern Warfare was a great single player game, but “quick snipers” are infested into every match.

MS had a lot of good deals, and more is to come. Just careful on this one. BO2 is NOT a good deal and the other 2 games are broken by hackers. I haven’t tried BO1, MW2 or MW3 MP in a long time now, so I can’t say how their MP is now.

Consumer discretion is advisied on these games!

  • BostonSup

I was planning on buying Dishonored, but seeing the very slight discount on BO2, it makes me question that their will be any real deal for the relatively new and well reviewed game. I still have hope that it is just because these games are from Activision that there is little discount.

Maybe they have nothing to do with it, but I got to hope that the game I want isn’t going to be a few dollars off. Not much of a “Ultimate Game Sale” if it is.

  • michael

What a crock of baloney, these discounts are garbage. M$ deserves for this to backfire on them. I could get Black Ops used for <$12, and the only reason I would buy a fresh digital version is for the convenience of not having to wait on a shipped disk.

You can get a BRAND NEW Black Ops II for $10 cheaper on Amazon, and again, the only reason I would buy from here is to avoid the shipping time…..

I had hoped that Microsoft was going to learn from the wildly successful STEAM sales that happen nearly quarterly (where games are actually discounted, and not based off bs MSRPs) but it appears that they are still keeping Xbox users by the balls.

  • http://twitter.com/Luih Luih

I´m still waiting for fallout for no more than 3 – 5 €… the “sales” prices of today with the cod´s are really terrible

  • TonyLN

Can’t believe people are complaining about this stuff… “I can find this game cheaper elsewhere…” — Well then go buy it elsewhere. BO2 is super new, don’t know why you would expect it to be 50% off or something, everything else is a steal assuming you want the digital version…

The one thing I would like to have known before the sale started is whether these games will be playable on the Next Xbox… Since I don’t know I haven’t been buying anything, just saving my money until then.

  • Jordan Mcdonald

Yer I had to change payment options a few times, eventually went with paypal coz credcard was giving errors galore, had to do it on the console too, not the website.

  • Jordan Mcdonald

    No He speaks the truth

  • http://www.facebook.com/tsakelariou Tania Sakelariou

the price for world at war in Greece is 20euros!!???where is the mega sale microsoft?are you kidding me?i can find the retail version in the half price

  • Awesome Wells

Black Ops for $2.95? Thank you very much. Hooray for living in Australia!

  • http://twitter.com/NAVARiN Bennijin

I can’t see a sale from here. Maybe because I’m all the way in the UK.

  • http://www.facebook.com/HarvetusNS Nick Harvey

Dang…these sales are getting worse day by day. CoD? Really guys…

  • Carlos Wwe#Heel

    When Batman Arkham City?

  • http://twitter.com/Guru_Inc Ip Rudbeck

In Denmark the prices is a little bitsy off…. BO1 – 19.99US$ ~ 199DKK=34.70US$??? BO2 – 49.99US$ ~ 499DKK=87US$??? And the price for BO2 has now returned to normal………. 549DKK=95.72US$………….?????? Someone needs to look at those pricetags ;-) And yes, I am aware of “Prices and availability will vary by Xbox LIVE region” , but this is just so…so…..so……..wrong :-/ Bought RE 6 yesterday, Saleprice was 19,99US$ ~ 109DKK=19US$, thought 19,99US$ and 19,99US$ was the same, no matter what day of the week….??

    • http://www.facebook.com/brett.burback Brett Burback

If this is the case those are some good deals again. Leave it to Call of Duty to kill the momentum.

    • Thomas Vargas

mmm i really want portal 2, borderlands 1 (also 9.99$), and Fallout: NV, but i only have 20$ and i don’t know which one to buy
      (sorry for bad english)

      • http://www.facebook.com/brett.burback Brett Burback

Portal 2 is a good choice. Borderlands is good if you have a friend or two or three to play through with. If you want single -player get New Vegas.

    • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

Wow, Dishonored only R169 in South Africa! +- £12 or $18. This time we score :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/charlene.gorman.7 Charlene Gorman

So true, its only cod 2 i need to add to collection n £9 aint cheap enough for me to buy it but r well will get one day in life lol

  • thepotatoguy

so how bout that day 5 sale??? less tomb raidin’ more price choppin.

  • Justin McDermott

When I tried to buy Black Ops 2 the price is showing up as $59.99 so no deal for me. Xbox has been so underwhelming recently it’s pushing me towards a PS4 this fall if things continue. At least PS Plus has actual deals.

So I have tried posting on this website several times and it has not appeared. Why are you not allowing me to post? Because you don’t like the things I have to say? I am just stating a valid opinion and not being at all offensive.

  • https://live.xbox.com/MyXbox/Profile?gamertag=DarkGin87 Lee Rayson (DarkGin87)

    Bought them all………….on disk.
