Keep the sales flowing! Great work!

    Trails HD ??

    ^.^

  • Xbudz

    Bring back “Midtown Madness” please.

I recommend all the Trials games + DLC and Castle Crashers if you don’t have them yet. Good sale for once.

    • http://twitter.com/Bmitch905 Brenny Bren

I say wait for Trials Evo to be 50% off at least

      • http://www.facebook.com/lin.ren.140 Lin Ren

lol why, so you can save $2 more? just buy it you cheap fks

  • jlh

Lots of great stuff this week. I finally picked up all of the Fallout DLC yesterday and today I got Quarrel, Swarm, Hydrophobia & Full House Poker. That’s a pretty good haul all from sales and I’m also considering both Deadlight and Axel & Pixel.

  • http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?u=324759 Tylerh1701

Full of repeats but far better than DLC sales in my opinion. Dust and Mark of the Ninja are both amazing games, ilomilo and Kefllings are pretty great too if you don’t already own them.

I’ll probably buy the PvZ pinball table.

  • http://twitter.com/HotDanceTrax Alex

Dust, Mark Of the Ninja, Trials Evo. GREAT DEAL

  • http://twitter.com/Hauz20 Gabriel House

So, uh, how about Zen classics for FX2? But, really, a pretty good sale!

  • Neftali Rodriguez

I picked up Hydrophobia with what I have left. Man, now I got homework. Finish TWD, Just cause, fallout 3 and now Hydro. Good deals MS.

  • http://twitter.com/Bmitch905 Brenny Bren

Dust, Deadlight, and Mark of Ninja for 600 points is a good deal. I highly recommend those 3 games. I think I have to try out Hydrophobia can’t go wrong spending just 200 points

    • http://twitter.com/NAVARiN Bennijin

Once you’ve played it you’ll realise you can.

    • donkeyjrplus

only prob with hydrophobia is that it is only half a game. it just stops suddenly. i have read that psn subs were able to get the 2nd half. but microsoft wanted too much money or something. its not worth the price for a half game. i got it for 200msp and it still wasn’t worth it cutting off like that.

  • Getsuga_Tensho

Great sale here. I just spent over 2400MSP on the Spring Sale and now you’ve come out with a much better list of deals.

Trials HD, Nike+ dlc, Castle Crashers, Mark of the Ninja, Retro City Rampage and Mercury HD are all things that interest me. That all comes to 2800MSP so I’ll be having to carefully pick what I’ll be getting from all of that.

Keep up with the good deals. If you do then I might have to purchase a bigger HDD as I’ve only got 11Gb free at the moment.

    • donkeyjrplus

these are OK deals at best. these have been done before also. they need to put games that haven’t been on sale much like banjo and dlcs like forza horizon season pass.

      • Getsuga_Tensho

These games haven’t been on sale often though. Retro City Rampage has never been on sale, a few were only on sale in the winter sale and the rest I missed when they were on sale a long time ago. I’d love to see some other stuff as well in future DOTWs and sales as most of them leave a lot to be desired but what we have here at the moment is pretty good.

Oh and I think MS have managed to forget that the Sales and Specials+ app exists. Hasn’t had any of the deals updated in quite a while. It’s an app that could do with having some work put into it if it’s going to stick around.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

retro city rampage was free with PSN+ it should have a huge discount or be free for gold members.
in fact it was free like the day it launched.

          • Getsuga_Tensho

The PS+ games aren’t actually free, we pay a subscription for that and lost access once the subscription runs out. Anyhow, Retro City Rampage is a great game, I think the developer deserves to make a bit of money for it.

I don’t get the entitlement these days just because PS+ is around. When the deals are bad, people complain. When they deals are great, people complain. There’s really no way to please them.

Half price is a pretty good deal. I’m not going to complain about prices just because Sony have an entirely different subscription based service.

  • ryder4life22187

will have to pick up deadlight and dust on friday.

    • http://twitter.com/xiRaGe Max

Deadlight was on sale on Steam for $2,99 a few days ago…

      • http://www.facebook.com/mathieu.sailtothemoon Mathieu SailtotheMoon

And the question is : why didn’t you buy it ?..

      • ryder4life22187

If that’s so i still wouldn’t care as id rather game on my xbox than on my pc.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

would buy trials evolution if it was 400 points or less.

castle crashers it like 5 years old or something why is it more expensive than some retail games, i got prototype 2 for $5 for example.

    • Getsuga_Tensho

Evolution is definitely worth the 800MSP. I bought it at full price and I’d still say it’s worth that.

    • xPutNameHerex

You overpaid for Prototype 2 then.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

20 hour long game for $5? how is that over paying heck i put more time into that than the last gears of war game.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

best activision game i had played in years on xbox, pitty it had zero replay value. i loved every minute of that game.

      • donkeyjrplus

ummm no he didn’t. prototype 2 is a great game. you must be a dud.

  • gary

No Kingdom of Kefling was hoping to it see on sale. I think we shall wait for a price drop that is more then 33%

    • http://twitter.com/NAVARiN Bennijin

World is far better but that’s all the more reason Kingdom should have been dropped to like 200 by now.

      • gary

Already have it was hoping for either the DLC to go on sale or the 1st one.

  • arkhunter

I can’t belive Castle Crashers is STILL 800 points! I don’t know that I’ve ever seen it less than that. Ridiculous. However I’ll take Mark of the Ninja as a consolation prize. :D

    • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

Agreed, if a game is more than 2 years old or more, it should be reduced to the bare minimum of 5 bucks (400MSP).

      • http://twitter.com/SamboTaylor Sam Taylor

Yeah, forget demand/supply, just throw money away!

Why are you getting so bent out of shape about 200 msp, or about £1.50? That is the price of a topping at Dominos…

        • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

Supply and demand doesn’t apply here. Retail games get reduced to nearly half the price after 6 months.. you don’t think digital sales should carry on in that same tradition? What makes it any different exactly? All I said was that if an XBLA game that is 2 years old or more should be reduced in price to 400 MSP.

So where exactly did I get bent out of shape again? Please enlighten me.

          • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

It is different. A physical retail disc takes up storage space and if not sold would eventually need to be given away if demand wanes. A digital copy has none of these issues.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

That’s a very interesting point actually.. I never thought of that. I know we are talking only about XBLA titles here but I just find it funny that MS prices our games on demand (digital versions of retail games) at either the exact same price they are in the store currently or alot of times even more.

On the principle of the whole thing though, wouldn’t you agree that generally speaking.. the older the game the cheaper it should be? Maybe it’s just my opinion but that’s the way I think it should be at least.

            Still though, point taken!

          • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

The older the cheaper argument seems a valid one on the surface but remember that the XBOX has still been selling in high numbers in recent years. That means there a many new XBOX users for whom these games are not “old” in the sense that they have been around for ages, as they are only seeing them for the first time. Why reduce the price if these new users are willing to still pay higher prices to get their hands on highly rated classics.

I do fully agree that an old game should be cheaper (advances in graphics etc leads me to believe a newer game will be superior) but my post was trying to provide an explanation as to why this is possibly not the case.

As an aside, I personally will not buy a new game at launch. No way I’m paying those sorts of prices for a game. I’d rather wait until the price does drop and then play it.

On the subject of GoD and retail games being the same price, this may be an agreement Microsoft has with retailers. I’d be pretty annoyed, as a retailer, if I was having to sell my retail games at $50 dollars to make a profit while MS had it on download for $20 (please note these are made up prices obviously). I’d battle to sell my product if the gamers could pay less than half elsewhere. Yeah, you’d get the collectors who want the discs but “casual gamers” like myself as attracted by the lower price and not the physical disc.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

I totally agree with your first paragraph as it clearly makes sense, especially from a business standpoint. Pretty much the only time I buy new at launch is if it’s something I just can’t wait for and am hyped up for it but then again, I really only buy on launch date 2 or 3 times a year. Thank goodness I have a backlog of games to play this year so that allows me to wait for the prices to drop even more.

In the end though, I am a collector and prefer the physical disk always. I’d rather just avoid the DRM issues of digital games altogether if I could but since the time for everything going 100% digital is upon us I’ll either have to accept it or find another hobby. I still side with accepting it though.

Hopefully with the next gen upon us, MS will change their pricing tactics to coincide with some of playstation’s deals. I know it’s as much of a pipe dream as hoping they will never raise the price of live again, get rid of the gold pawall of the apps, and focus more on 1st party development rather than this whole focus on media apps and kinect.

            Wishful thinking i know..

          • Russell Gorall

When you buy a GOD, and Microsoft phases it out with the next Xbox, the next Xbox isn’t apparently even going to play used games, where is that value in having that DLC on that console you don’t use anymore?

I mean, Bill Gates, let us just get real and get some straight deals and not sales?

            Bill?

          • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

I am personally not planning on selling my XBOX 360 to get the “NextBox” so that argument holds little water with me. I will happily continue to purchase games for my XBOX 360 at ever reducing prices as the developers try to make a final quick buck off them. I will then continue to play these.

I am lucky to be in a position where I am not the sort of gamer who feels the need to have the absolutely latest console or game.

          • Russell Gorall

A physical retail disc holds less value? Where is the actual economic theory in that besides Microsoft Economics?

          • http://twitter.com/Clint_ZA Clint

I am uncertain where I said that a retail disc holds less value. Feel free to point it out.

What I did state is that a retailer needs physical space to store a disc. If there is little to no demand for a game they’d rather put it on sale to clear space for a more popular game. With digital copies of a game this is not an issue. You can have a million copies of the game for sale and not have the necessary space to keep a million copies of it. If there is little demand for the game then so what, it is not costing you anything to keep.

And as the retailers no longer have copies anyone who is interested would need to get the GoD version…

          • http://twitter.com/TachyonicCargo Tachyonic Cargo

You really are ignoring supply and demand. Games at retail do not reduce in price over time just because they are old. They reduce in price over time, due the lack of demand for those products as the games age – and usually the age of the game is of little bearing on price, as it is the saturation at market of the product (ie. lessening of demand), that drives the price down over time. You can bet your last dollar, that if demand for retail games remained static for years on end and, did not decline, then the price on those games would not decline either (except for the occasional sale).

Supply and demand is always going to apply anywhere you have people who have something that other people want, and are willing to pay, trade, bargain, or dicker for. Like it or not, supply and demand dictates prices of everything, even when and by how much they are reduced in price; and it has been that way, long before even money existed. It’s not going to go away simply because the product in question has gone digital in distribution. Like everything else in the market, when the product has saturated the market to the point where anyone who wanted it at price X has purchased, and interests begins to wane in said product, then the price will come down; first in repeated sales, and eventually, permanently, to drive up consumer interest in said product. Tons of games on XBLA have been permanently reduced in price over the years, that directly reflect this principle in action. Some games reduce in price sooner than others. Which games, and for how much, and when they get reduced, is a decision driven almost purely by the supply/demand dynamic.

Castle Crashers still SRPs for full price, in much the same way that years from now, Minecraft will still likely be selling for it’s original price – the demand is still high to buy the game for the original price. Not every game can make that claim, but from time to time you get one that does. And in this case, Castle Crashers is it. Perhaps if you wait another couple of years, the game will come down to 800 MSP permanently.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

a perfect example of this is the CoD games even today a second hand copy of mw2 is just shy of full price in gamestop here in ireland.

on castle crashers, surely everyone has bought that game by now anyway :-)

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

It’s also a similiar situation here in the states.. used games going for only $5 or $10 USD cheaper than the new copies. Then again it’s gamestop we are talking about after all here. The bulk of their profit is in used games and I’m sure that’s why they are marked up the way they are.
At Gamestop if you don’t like a game and you bring it back the next day, they will only give you roughly half of what you bought it for new. Then they will turn around to sell it for $50 or $55 making a profit off of my return. It’s sad, I know.

          • Russell Gorall

How much can you sell a used game off your hard drive?

If you sell a game for whatever and they sell it that close to retail, you should just buy another Xbox.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

You can’t. I suppose If someone really wanted to they could sell their Xbox live/MS account to someone. I bought so many arcade games, DLC’s, a few tv shows and music videos, that I bet I could get alot for my primary gamertag since I have so much content linked to it. I suppose that’s always an option?
I do agree with you on this though. Physical copies are the way to go.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

yeah that happened to me before with gamestop, i bought a full priced brand new game and brought it back the following day they offered me half the price for it, i told them to shove it.
i never shop with them anymore in my mind gamestop are worse than EA,rip-off merchants is all gamestop are. last time i was in their store just before christmas i was at the counter directing people to online stores for xbox gold and msp.

gamestop actually charge 10-20% more for games than the other stores here. they are the same prices as the GoD.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

It’s what they do. I have since stopped buying at GS alltogether. The only time I would deal with them would be to get a preorder bonus by preordering a game. Then I would just cancle the preorder after getting my bonus/code/dlc and buy the game from Best Buy, Target or Walmart instead.
The audacity of them to tell us that they can only give us half our money back just because the plastic wrap has been removed is a slap to our face. You aren’t the only one who tells them to shove it.

          • JoeGrahamcracker

Yea, but if you buy it used you can play it for a week, beat it, then return it, and get your money back.

          • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

Yeah, that’s called a gamestop rental haha! But doing that doesn’t work for me. I prefer to own my games rather than rent them. I’m sure GS knows that people exploit their 1 week return policy all the time. I honestly don’t think they care because while they aren’t making any profit on your used game return, they aren’t taking a loss either.

I have a friend that does this all the time, but I’ve never taken advantage of it. The only way I would is if I sell and old game (something I very seldom ever do) and decide later that I want to finish all the achievements in it.

          • Russell Gorall

So great to see Microsoft employees write essays…

        • Russell Gorall

          Yeah, who cares about money!!

    • mcmax3000

Castle Crashers is still in the top XBLA sales every week, despite its age, and normally being 1,200 points. When the game is still selling that well, after that long, there’s no reason for them to drop the price below 800 MSP.

      • arkhunter

I think they put Trials HD on sale for 50% off fairly soon (a few months) after it’s release when it still quite popular. At least give us that.

      • Jesus Urrabieta

I can’t be sure, but I think I bought that at it’s launch for 800… It came out before the 1200 mark up…

        • http://twitter.com/dlchief58 Michael Burden

No, it has always been 1200 points, it was one of the first titles to go to the now common 1200 point mark.

  • arkhunter

I can’t belive Castle Crashers is STILL 800 points! I don’t know that I’ve ever seen it less than that. Ridiculous. However I’ll take Mark of the Ninja as a consolation prize. :D

  • http://twitter.com/NAVARiN Bennijin

Boring. Most of this stuff has been the same price OR LESS previously. Multiple times in some cases. Hydro Thunder’s been 400, Castle Crashers has been 560 and I think Hydrophobia may have been 160 at one point.

Still, some gems in there for those who missed them before like Dust and Mark of the Ninja. Also those will go toward that Xbox Rewards promotion of the 4×400+ spend and 3200 total spend.

  • ryder4life22187

I actually expected to see Gears and Alan Wake but was surpised to see a variety for once.

  • registradus

    Kinect Central: Wreckateer
    2-Apr to 8-Apr
    320 (60% off)

  • mcmax3000

“I would suggest to stop droping repeatedly the price of Dust, mark of the ninja etc.”

Repeatedly? I could be mistaken, but I only recall them being on sale once before.

    • GmailIsDown

yep. i missed out the summer sale and will pick up Dust, Deadlight, and Mark of the Ninja this time

  • https://twitter.com/RudolfKingnBear Rodolfo Antonio

NOOOOOOO!!! Banjo games. How is this possible?

Good games on sale but sadly repeated from previous and recent sales.

I would love to see games something old or that hardly have appeared in sales as the Banjo games, Fusion Genesis, Ikaruga, Half Minute Hero or Lazy Raiders to name a few (in short, games that I haven’t xD).

But it’s still a wide and strong selection of games. All with quality and surely there will be something for everyone and with the promotion of this month I can only say, take everything you can.

Also DLC for games like Alan Wake, Halo, Gears and Forza 4 would have been highly appreciated.

For my part I strongly recommend Dust: An Elysian Tale, Mark of the Ninja and ilomilo the three are amazing games.

  • ElektroDragon

Already own 90% of this content and the rest does not interest me. Boo.

    • http://twitter.com/ISAMU_MkII オミナエ イサム

Same here., and I got all for the half of the price years ago… that means the sales team keep doing very bad the homework instead put “never done deals”!

PS: Castle Crasher and Hydrophobia going into the 7th time and Hydro Hurricane 6th time are some examples

  • ZaFuuru

Where is Guardian Heroes on this list? I just bought it for 400 MP

    • http://twitter.com/dlchief58 Michael Burden

Sega title, not Microsoft Studios title or part of the Deal of the Week. Either Sega has a stealth sale going (as I noticed a few other Sega games marked down) on or they were recently reduced and not announced yet.

  • m1nh0ca

I’d buy Hydro Thunder if it was 400 MSP again. Maybe I’ll get Magic.
I totally recommend Dust and Mark of the Ninja! Deadlight is ok… but way too short.

major can we get some world building games on the xbox brand, ala theme park/ sim city. there are only so many shooting/driving games i can play. keflings just doesnt cut it for me. i’ve spent 90% of my gaming time in the last 6 months working on 1 city in simcity 4. its a genre that is sadly lacking around here.

    • http://twitter.com/dlchief58 Michael Burden

Try Tropico 3 or 4 as well as Port Royale 3 for your sim fix on the Xbox. And there is an indy title that is a city building game, I just can’t remember the name for it – I am thinking something along the lines of Metropolis or something very similar.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

thanks michael i never even thought about the indie games will have to make a american account and take a look

No problem, the name of the game I was thinking of was Megalopolis and it is 400 MSP.

Could have had some Forza 4 packs in this sale……

    • BlinkFandango

They did it last year during the Microsoft sale, I was expecting more Forza Horizon content to go on sale.

  • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

I recommend Ilomilo, Dust: an elysian Tail and Mark of the Ninja.

IMO, all other deals are too expensive or should have their prices fixed at the promotion price at this point.

  • donkeyjrplus

    agreed.

  • BlinkFandango

Seriously, you couldn’t put the Forza Horizon Rally Pack on sale as well (that thing is ridiculously overpriced and needs to go on sale already).

  • http://twitter.com/jagg857 Jorge Garza

PLEASE HELP! Help me with this decision, I have 1330 msp left and I´m not sure what sould I get, I could get Mark of the Ninja & Deadlight (but I heard is way too short) or I could get “From Dust” for full price 1,200 msp. Should I spent on some of this options or just save me points? Suggestions please!

    • http://twitter.com/fcviotto Fernando Coli Viotto

Seriously play it on the PC if you can, it is way better. I dont think it worth 1200 points.

The visuals are nice but the gameplay not so much

    • CyberSkull

Mark of the Ninja is great! Get it at least.

  • http://twitter.com/jagg857 Jorge Garza

LMFAO!!!! Sorry to hear pal, but it´s actually funny LOL!!!

  • Russell Gorall

    Is this a joke?
