“Gears of War: Judgment” Call to Arms Map Pack Introduces Three Maps and an Intense New Multiplayer Mode starting April 23

The second “Judgment” Map Pack explores the darker side of the “Gears” universe, with three bone-chilling maps, the new “Master at Arms” multiplayer mode and exclusive digital rewards

Microsoft and Epic Studios today announced the second expansion in the “Gears of War: Judgment” multiplayer experience, the Call to Arms Map Pack, coming to VIP Season Pass holders on Tuesday, April 23 via Xbox LIVE, and available worldwide April 30. Developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly, the Call to Arms Map Pack brings players three new multiplayer maps, a brand-new mode called “Master at Arms,” and six armor and gun skins for customizing your characters and weapons.

Set against the backdrop of the Locust invasion of Halvo Bay, all three new maps provide a mix of close quarters and vertical combat, keeping Gearheads immersed in the action. The Call to Arms Map Pack provides 10 new Achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore.

For more information on the Call to Arms Map Pack, please visit the “Gears of War” community site epicgames.com/community. Full descriptions of the new maps and mode are below:

New Maps:

· Terminal: The speed and ferocity of the Locust invasion took Halvo Bay completely by surprise. Residents scrambled to evacuate by every means possible, and COG forces were called in to maintain order as martial law was enforced. However, the Locust showed no mercy, and gave no quarter; they swept through train terminals like this one to take advantage of the close quarters and sheer number of defenseless humans trapped within its walls. Sometimes, COG forces could hold the line long enough for a final evacuation, but too many lost their lives in defense of the people and the land they loved.

· Blood Drive: As casualties started to mount, the staff at Halvo Memorial quickly began what would become the largest triage effort in the history of Sera. Their “Give Blood Today” campaign inspired a global blood drive in support of COG forces and wounded civilians. Sadly, Halvo fell quickly, and the hospital became a battlefront instead of a sanctuary. The seed of hope was planted, however, and government-run Memorial hospitals across the country mobilized to keep the effort alive until Jacinto Memorial was the last standing bastion of hope for the people of Sera.

· Boneyard: The concept of traditional memorial services had to be suspended due to the constant stream and alarming volume of casualties as Sera fell victim to the Locust Horde. Memorial grounds quickly became boneyards. Unmarked holes became grave sites and mausoleums were filled with the nameless remains of the fallen, their skeletons piled into heaps. Tread lightly, you never know what, or who, you’re walking on, and one day you’re bound to join them.

The Call to Arms Map Pack will be available on Xbox LIVE for 1000 Microsoft Points. Players who purchase the “Gears of War: Judgment” VIP Season Pass will receive early access to map packs and a 25 percent savings versus purchasing them individually.

New Mode: “Master At Arms”

This new free-for-all game mode exclusive to “Gears of War: Judgment” will test the true range of your soldiering skills. The goal is to get a kill with each of the 20 different available weapons, without resorting to melee or grenade tactics. Every successful kill will automatically advance you to the next available weapon until you have used them all and proven your skill as a true Master at Arms.

The new mode sounds interesting. At least is something different which should force players to use all weapons and not only shotguns. Remains to see how balanced it is.

    Still, no Horde, no sale.

  • http://twitter.com/The_lFranchise The Franchise_JayTee

This so called new game mode “Master At Arms” has been done already in shooters it was in Call Of Duty Black Ops 1 and they called it “Gun Game”….. come on epic…. what happened to being original.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

I can say the exact same thing about originality towards Treyarch, because they didn’t invent “Gun Game” mode.

  • http://twitter.com/peba12 Peter

    Give us Horde

  • http://twitter.com/TheDShand Darren Shand

Blood drive and gun game really??

  • http://twitter.com/TheDShand Darren Shand

saying that though ide be happy with sandbar and overpass at the moment 4 maps on release was really a let down

  • http://www.facebook.com/papawaiswais Patrick Bruckner

hahaha 3 maps i am done with gears after 7 years this is wat the comunity gets nothing thx ms

  • http://www.facebook.com/papawaiswais Patrick Bruckner

jep gears is b3come a cod clone

  • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

Wow, what? 1000msp? That’s a typo, right? Because Gears of War 3 offered more valued content for less, 800msp.
And to everyone screaming that the new mode is ripping off Call of Duty, just know that PC players are laughing at you guys right now…with that said, learn what THAT “Gun Game” came from.

  • http://twitter.com/peba12 Peter

    And another recycled map..how lame

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dustin-Buursma/610000643 Dustin Buursma

Can someone explain to me why a map pack of three maps is selling for 1000 Microsoft Points? No sale.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

I’m trying to understand it too bro. Like I said before, Gears 3 offers more content in a pack than Judgment.
Feel free anybody to correct me if I’m wrong..Gears 3 offer five maps, weapon skins and characters, 800msp. Another pack offers the same thing AND a game mode, 800msp.
      How are “they” justifying this?

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

they are all overpriced but gears 3 felt pretty complete when it came out, judgement was a scam.

        • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

What do you mean by “they are all overpriced?”.
Are you implying that the Gears of War 3 DLC is overpriced?

  • Gustavo

Oh God, just give us horde.

  • http://twitter.com/JerzyKoppers gears4life

stop bitching about horde! now you have survival its the same but 10 waves so less boring

    • MrRadiolips

  • rkm80

    …just bring back Horde already.

  • SteveFNL

Totally agree regarding the “new” game mode. How can they possibly call this an “Exclusive” new mode, it’s “Gun Game” from Black Ops 1 & 2.

    • MrRadiolips

Because it would be new to Gears.

  • http://twitter.com/dibils dibils

wait till gears 4 or play gears 3

    • Aspire

That’s not the point. Gears 4? there is no more after 3. just prequels and spin offs. I hope judgment doesn’t lead future gears games.

      • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

Gears of War has a big story line than what we are told from the games itself. There’s a whole nother history before the locust envaded. I am pretty sure there will be a game based on the Pendulum Wars saga, where it’s humans versus humans. The fact that Epic would have to make a prequel of a prequel. If EPIC wants to spare themselves the embarrassment of going that route, I suggest dropping the Gears of War name first.

        • Aspire

Definitely, reading them right now. just hope they put what people actually want and not make it dlc.

    • MrRadiolips

  • Rickard Olsson

Why not just give the players Warzone, King of the Hill, Capture the Leader, Guardian and such? This “new” mode is just another take on FFA and will definitely not help the game in the long run.

Good to see Blood Drive again though, but I really hope they haven’t messed it up.

    • MrRadiolips

I do believe warzone is coming to judgement but not sure about the others. There is a glitch that will make warzone pop up but think they fixed it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/danbo2000 Danny Stockwell

    Ive played gears with my dad since day 1 online ,I cant even express how disappointed I am with judgment ….. it just feels like a dlc for gears 3 ……. G U T T E D …. 3 maps and 1 new mode G U T T E D .

    • http://twitter.com/Nathan41v39 Jonathan Hardy

      Same here

  • Vince

No wonder CliffyB left hahaha. This isn’t a sports game. Give it about 3 years to be developed.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

gears judgement is dropping to $40 already next week at best buy if anyone wants to trade in their copy do so now.

  • H0RIZ0N

1000 MS Points for 2 new + overrated recycled map, a game mode and skins nobody cares about. Shame on you Micro$oft/epic for trying to squeeze more money off of your customers.

  • Charles Wabashaw

So, “Master at Arms” is Judgement’s take on BF3’s “Gun Master” mode

    • http://twitter.com/Nitramuse Nitramuse

      Yeah. A pretty bland copy-paste.

  • Charles Wabashaw

I want them to offer a dlc with extra campaign missions where Dom and Marcus are playable characters

    • MrRadiolips

  • Superman64

I’m not into the Gears games, but even I know horde mode is something people love about it. Why in the hell would you take out something people love? That would be like removing team deathmatch from a Halo or Call of Duty game.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

The lack of Horde mode is the reason why I won’t be buying this game, and even if a DLC Horde mode is released, I don’t feel comfortable buying a mode that should had already been in the game in the first place. The reason why I’m still watching over the game is because I am personally enjoying watching it slowly burn.

    • Riddick Snipes

The most logical thing you have ever said.

      • Superman64

Come on now, you don’t even know what logic is my little Disqus stalker.

  • lethargicj

Great news for the 8 people who bought this game.

  • MrRadiolips

Almost every company has their version of game modes copied from others. This concept is not new.

  • Tommy Wiseau

Glad to know that having the VIP pass grants me early access. Makes me happy to know that buying the DLC early actually has a benefit over buying it separate. Still though, the pricing for this DLC is just terrible. It’s really only looks worth it if you have the VIP pass.

    • MrRadiolips

I agree that it is overpriced.

  • MaidenLOKO

Just bring back horde mode, plz!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bruce-Regael/100002408763327 Bruce Regael

Epic has destroyed what was once a solid franchise. It’s a goddamn shame. Hopefully they can pull off a surprising miracle on the next gen console and come back like Halo 4 did because if this game is any indication, the series is DOA!

  • ChinoM

The price of this dlc is exactly how much i’m willing to spend for the base game (DLC’s are out of question, because they are scam). Everything above that is complete rip-off. Give a break to Gears, Microsoft and do some new promising IP’s.

  • MrRadiolips

Im a gamer but some of these people are way too intense about certain subjects. I feel if your going to cry about a game you probably should have done a little more research before you bought it. Plus most likely some of these people dont even own it and still want to have a fit.

  • http://twitter.com/Luizkjimenez Luizk

to much money.. anyway.. lets see whats new!

    Looking forward to more maps

  • Caden Skophammer

You’re damn right! I love Gears and I have played all of them extensively. Each game is a new creation, so why even bother comparing it to everything else. With Gears 3 everyone complained about kill-stealing, so they removed DBNO; everyone complained about too many playlists, so they removed them; everyone was let down because of not being able to be COG and/or Locust in Beast Mode, so they gave us Overrun; and everyone thought that it was lacking skill and depth because a lot of people had a “God-mode” ability with being equipped with a shotgun, rifle, smoke, and pistol, so guess what, THEY GOT RID OF IT. I love Judgment for what it is and I appreciate that the gaming community is getting all that they wanted, even if it isn’t all at once. I say if you like the series then don’t complain, and if you don’t then go play another game like Halo of CoD…but wait people have complaints about that too, oh well. Every game is supposed to “betray” the players a bit so that they are constantly getting the same re-hashed stuff from the other games. This is how I see it; if you can’t live with the choices then clearly you need to find another game.

  • Showoff

Horde horde horde. Give us the horde!!

  • Steven Manning

This is similar to the Operation Raccoon City fiasco. Take an amazing series and screw it up with a generic flashback that favors the COD enthusiasts.

  • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

Let’s see. For starters, even the Gears community is disappointed with the game with the heavily lack of content it offers compared to Gears 3. Thousands of people (not exaggerating) alone are disappointed just by the lack of Locust characters in versus modes like TDM. Ask them if this is a great game. Ask the Horde only players if Judgment is a great game. Look at the Top Xbox Live games that Major post, Judgment is dropping!

I don’t need to play a game to know if it’s good or not, it’s called researching, That thing most people don’t do before buying a game only to be disappointed later. I’ve been following this game since it’s development which got nothing but negative thoughts by the community since then, too.

“and over-run is a valid substitute for horde”

    Said, no one, ever.

And I played Overrun, it’s an unbalanced broken mess, which anyone could had easily saw that coming just from playing Beast mode in Gears 3. The Locust are too OP compared to the COG, anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know jack about balancing.

  • http://twitter.com/djstarion Francisco Rodriguez

Seriously. The fact that it’s different than anything in the GOW series is why I actually like it and play it more often than the others. If I wanted to play a game like Gears 3, I’d play Gears 3.
