One week until #XboxReveal

We are one week away from the #XboxReveal event. You can join us Tuesday, May 21st @ 1p ET/10a PT/17:00 GMT via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com.
If you are in the US or Canada, you can also watch the broadcast on Spike TV.

PLUS, today I announced that we’ll be teaming up with Twitch and I’ll be hosting an exclusive post-show at 3p ET/12m PT. You’ll only be able to watch the special show via the new Twitch app on Xbox 360 and also online globally on www.twitch.tv. During the show I’ll be joined by some guests who will go into more detail about our #XboxReveal announcements.

Here is a preview of the special structure we are building on the Xbox campus where we’ll be holding the #XboxReveal event

Assuming the xbox stream will be part of the top 300 twitch streams by then:

This means only US residents will be able to watch it on xbox?

Now, I have other means to watch it on my television, but why not use the same event player you used before so that everyone can watch it?

    • John

Agreed, but won’t it work with Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360?

The default homepage is Xbox[dot]com right?

      • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

The special post-show will only be on Twitch.tv (app and website) not the live event player on the console.

        • andy

Will be watching wherever Geoff Keighley goes on video after the event, so more than likely Spike and Gametrailers is the place to be post show.

DUR DRURRURURURU my name is BOE

  • Ivanx360xpira

bring some new exclusives, keep compatibility with 360, allow used games, forget this bullshit of DRM, expand services to others countries and Take my Money…

    Am I asking much?

    • Nate Welles

      Nope, I second that!

    • lethargicj

I have a feeling you’re asking WAY too much.

    • TonyLN

Just with the DRM part — it’s not up to M$, it’s up to the developers — if M$ doesn’t put some type of DRM that is easy for the developers to use then the developers will just make there own which could cause all sorts of problems.

Have to be connected to the internet every time you play a game (other than online) would be dumb — having to connect to the internet the first time you want to play a game; I’m OK with that…

    • http://www.facebook.com/moylobo83 Moises Munoz

“expand services to others countries” as an American living in Mexico, I agree to that.

    • Z4M0

Couldn’t agree more with that. I have literally a ton of backlog (meaning hundreds of games) so no full compatibility means I have enough stuff for being entertained for the next 2 years.

Bring FRESH IPs and COMPATIBILITY and I won’t mind getting the next consone when it comes out, as I will have games to keep playing and yet will be able to get next gen versions of games launching on both old and new system, plus exclusives…

      • Ivanx360xpira

I live in Brazil, recent statistics showed that xbox sold here around 10M units, almost 10X more than in Japan, but we have a lame Xbox live, I really don’t care about the lots of apps that are available for US, but rewards are not available here and the marktplace is a mess…

Also, It’s not my fault that of these 10M most of them are unlocked, mine is not, and even if the games here are ridiculous expensive, I manage my little money to keep my console original…

MS should have more respect for the so called “Third World”, we also like to buy stuffs…

        • Z4M0

Amen to that. I know people that went to Colombia for a living, and games in south america (geographically speaking) are ridiculously expensive, yet some people still suppots MS and get no support back at all.

  • Reinier Martinez

I’m so excited about this, can’t wait to see the new Xbox in person at E3. :D

  • Brian Peterson

I hope Frodo and the Killers will be highlighting this event again.

    • scrapplejoe

this event will be like the surface event… no frills…

E3 is for the bands and chicks

  • Brian Kvalheim

Xbox will own this gen yet again.

    • andy

And with that, Microsoft will own you too. Poor guy.

  • Jrdnw

This will decide whether or not I buy a PS4. Better bring something amazing

    • Brian Kvalheim

Just get both so you can have the best of both worlds!

      • metallicorphan

the thing is the best of both worlds this gen towards the end(last 2 years) massively tipped towards PS3 with their PS+ service and Exclusives(and just basically finally getting a grip on things overall)…we need assurances Microsoft are to be strong all the way through for gamers,Xbox 360 started off fantastically with their Exclusives (especially JRPGs),but then ditched practically all for entertainment apps and Kinect even…I would like MS to go back to the early 360 sort of days

All i want from the 360 is more and more exclusive games,i care not for Timed Exclusive games and timed exclusive DLC and i certainly am not fussed about entertainment apps

I hope MS get this right

        • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

Couldn’t agree more. The Xbox exclusives were amazing at first then it just began to be rehash year after year and now I can say without any doubt that the best exclusives and games are on the PS3.* I mean PS3 still has The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls coming and I’m sure there’s some I’m missing.

And let’s not even get started on PS+ Vs. Xbox Live. You get a choice to pay a monthly fee to either get discounts and free games or you can pay a monthly fee to be bombarded by ads and to use Netflix.*

Come on Microsoft. You better bring something very impressive and do something about Xbox Live because as a online gaming service it’s great but as far as rewarding members it’s a joke.

        • http://twitter.com/damashedavenger kit walker

just curious, why does a game being exclusive to
one system matter to you? as long as i can play it im not bothered who cant play it…

          • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

That’s a silly question. It’s because when it comes to exclusives the creators of the console have a vested interest in the game and will spend more money and time making it as good as possible.

Imagine if Halo was also on PS2, for example.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

if halo was on ps2, face it, xbox would have never taken off. not sure why you are downvote when you are right. also if you ever play good exclusives of either console, they are MUCH better than mutliplats most of the time. Killzone 3 on ps3 looks amazing for example, as does gears 3 on xbox. developers focus all their time on the one consoles.

          • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

Yeah, I guess we get downvoted for being right. Even Microsoft themselves have said Halo was their killer app for the OG Xbox and without it there probably would be no Xbox brand.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

agreed 100%. everyone made fun of ps3, until about 2010. they had much better online than launch, and the exclusives to fight xbox. PSN+ is amazing as well.

I don’t think JRPGs will come to xbox. JRPGS have the J because of japan, and the 360 bombed in japan. Japan is xenophobic, it will take decades for any xbox to get into japan if ever.

          • Ivanx360xpira

Don’t think Japanese are xenophobic, is more related to their culture…they think that everything that is made in Japan or at least come with a Japanese brand is better…well don’t blame them, once Japanese products are indeed very good…Just as a example, I know some japanese folks here, where I live, that even refuse to go to the doctor if this one is not a japanese or at least descendant…

          • boe2

I love jrpg’s. I can say I played almost all of them this generation. Most of them I played on xbox. 2 I can think of (Enchanted Arms, Lost Odyssey) were xbox exclusives and 2 I can think of (White Knight, Ni no Kuni) where ps3 exclusives.

There might be some games I forgot about, but I think we can safely say that it pretty much evens out JRPG-wise.

Heck, if we go look at the tons of SHMUP releases on the current xbox you can safely conclude Japanese publishers are not afraid to release on xbox.

You keep saying the xbox “bombed” in Japan, but it didn’t do that bad actually.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

there are dozens of JRPGs on ps3, heck tales of xillia comes out in a month or so, along with tales of graces f and ni no kuni which is probably the best JRPG this gen. lost odyssey and tales of vesperia are the only good JRPGs I can think of on xbox.

          • boe2

I don’t recall denying the ps3 has lots of rpg’s. I am responding to your statement that the xbox has few (even “none”) in comparison.

          • metallicorphan

because my reply was to Brian, where we talked about buying both consoles…what would be the point then if the same games came out for both?

          • http://twitter.com/damashedavenger kit walker

yer exactly… wouldnt u rather the 1000 bucks in ur pocket? it seems to me that all exlusives do is sell consoles, great for the manufacturer but they just seem like a pain in the butt for consumers.

        • Ivanx360xpira

I was thinking…MS lost a great chance to have the best line of exlusives in the current gen..well I love Halo and the others Xbox exclusives (that most of times are forgotten by most of people), but if we think about this, Mass Effect and Bioshock started as 360 exclusives, imagine if MS had work hard to hold these 2 franchises as exclusives…Also, The witcher 2 was a great RPG, but is another good franchise that MS lost…

Hope in 21st MS prove that is really listening the consumers, and remember that Xbox is in primarly a GAMING device…

      • http://www.facebook.com/chris.grub.5 Chris Grub

I thought about this too but I can’t play as many games as I used to because I’m getting older and just don’t have the time anymore.

This is why this announcement next week will be so interesting for me – it will lead to the decision I make next console generation.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

$1000 just in consoles/ controllers, no games or services is a tough sale. “best of both worlds” maybe, or, I can just get 1 console, and in 5 years get the console I avoided and play all the games I missed. at least on the xbox side, there aren’t many exclusives atm making it worth fighting for.

My Predictions for the Xbox Trinity (my name guess):

    1. VapourMG casing (like the surface). Flat top hopefully.

    2. Home Automation built in. Turn on your house lights with your Xbox as the hub, and your phone as the conduit.

    3. DVR Abilities – I have a tivo, so its redundant, and my Tivo uses Cable Cards – new xbox wont. Still, it will be a cool feature.

    4. Joystick has to have something new. Maybe a touch feature, or a slot for a phone to

    somehow integrate.

    5. Kinect Share features (no share button needed, just say “Share” out loud for options
    6. The name will most likely be “Xbox”. The new “Xbox”. Yes they will go the iPad route, and confuse everyone.
    7. I would love to see some sort of new Achievements that show just the games you finished. Like a trophy icon that has a # next to it, showing you actually beat the game.
    8. Microsoft Surface Laptop with built in Xbox 360 (I can only dream). Deployed military would eat this laptop up. Make a ultrabook that has 360 guts in it.

    9. Xbox TV – Smaller xbox like the Roku that plays downloadable games.

    • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

“What we all want is Skyrim HD though”.

So when I played Skyrim in 1080p that was actually SD!? Why didn’t I know about this!?

      • fsdfg dsfds

Ever heard of upscaling ? you sound as dumb as the ps3 kids thinking everything is 1080p native

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

no one thinks ps3 is native 1080p, most of us know it’s 720p at most.

          • fsdfg dsfds

dude pretty much ever tard ps3 kid thinks there games are 1080p native, just because it says “1080p Supported” on the back of there blurstation game case

Its funny GTA IV and RDR actually run at 640p native on ps3, it looks like complete garbage, 360 runs 720p native with better framerate, colors and draw distance, yet the ps3 tards still think its better…

        • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

Says the man named fsdfg dsfds.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

xbox 360 games are usually 600p or so, upscaled to 1080p. I don’t think any games are 1080p on xbox. on ps3 only like 1-2 games are 1080p (excluding HD remakes) this gen has been 720p pretty much all around.

also, netflix on xbox is 720p, ps3 it’s 1080p. you played skyrim at 720p.

      • Volitar Prime

If you have ever seen Skyrim running at 1080p with the HD texture pack add-on on a PC then you would know just how lacking the 360 version is.

        • http://www.facebook.com/bmovie James Wagner

Yeah but the resolution makes it HD not the textures, I thought? Anyways, I am well aware of how much more graphically capable PC games are than current generation consoles but none the less I wouldn’t say it’s not HD.

    • Ivanx360xpira

I still prefer Halo 2 Anniversary carrying the original maps, if MS shows a decent line of exclusives and ship the console with Halo 2 Anniversary, I’d pre-order one right after the show!!!

    • boe2

As long as they keep Kudo Tsunoda out of the event, we should be clear :p

    • ElektroDragon

There will be dancers for sure to show off the dance reading prowess of Kinect 2.0 and Dance Central 5!!!! Woot!

      • http://twitter.com/dlchief58 Michael Burden

What happened to Dance Central 4? If you’re going to troll, at least do it right.

        • ElektroDragon

Since when is venomous sarcasm “trolling”?

  • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

Tread carefully with this one Microsoft.. If you make the mistake of highlighting anything else than GAMES as your main focus you are going to create a shitstorm on the internet you couldn’t believe. Your event better be 20% or less about Mulimedia, Apps and Kinect and the rest better be about games and new console features. Anything more, you’ll be digging your own grave.
Living in the U.S. I still think the 360 wipes its arse with PS3 on nearly every level other than exclusives, but even I will be rethinking my purchase decision come the holidays if I don’t feel MS’s focus isn’t where it should be. Hopefully PSN will be new and improved and not the pure sub-par garbage it’s always been.

    • Z4M0

people should look at rewards’ surveys. Every month they ask about smartphones, kinect and multimedia so it takes no rocket scientist to figure out wich direction are they getting…

      TBH that’s really… sad.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

to be fair, MS is big enough to get into all of these markets. but at the same time MS hasn’t shown they care about gamers in years and support for the console is dying fast in the gamer world.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Curtis-Isabell/1036013363 Curtis Isabell

    in order of importance

    1. confirmation that all the bad rumors were false, these include blocking used games in any way, online drm, offline DRM, and focussing on casual or kinect. if ANY of the negative rumors are true, have fun COMPLETELY killing the xbox brand because quite frankly, sony addressed every failing with the ps3 in the ps4 announcement so everyone is looking towards it as the next console, you need to address all of it.

    2. show exclusives. exclusives sell consoles, period. the original xbox sold on exclusives, the 360 sold on exclusives and past success of the xbox, with the lacking 360 console of the last 5 years you need to show half a dozen exclusives between now and launch, and they better look awesome.

have no exclusives to show, or only going to show halo gears forza and fable? I don’t see xbox being.. honestly anything, face it, halo isn’t the halo of last gen, gears is fun but it’s old now, GT= forza, and fable is terrible- only lost chapters was good.

    3. don’t focus on distant future, if you sit there for 30 minutes showing that VR room thing, it might wow the crowd but with it being half a decade away before being viable showing it will backfire in the end. the last thing you want is people to get your console and let it sit and gather dust for 5 years.

    4. announce the price please, and I mean the price, not the “oh you can buy it for $200 but you have to pay $15 a month for live for 2 year” price I mean, the price. this will give you a one up over ps4, people will say “oh it’s only X” unless it’s ridiculously expensive, but it will become the internet rumor if you don’t say a price anyway, plus people rather start saving now and knowing what they need.

    5. xbox live gold is notorious for being absurd, either: A. Gold should be free/silver members get all the gold benefits or B. Gold members need to get GOOD free games and GOOD sales like PSN+ members seriously $60 on live is a hard sale to anyone who has experienced PSN+ I can’t see myself buying live again, and i’ve gotten it at $35 for years now. I know kiddies and fanboys will disagree, but PC is free, ps3 is free, wii is free, wii-u is free in the beginning xbox had the best online, it rivaled and passed PC in many ways, but now it doesn’t wii-u actually has decent online and ps3 is pretty good as well, I don’t see the ps4 being worse, so I can’t see people paying for gold service in it’s current forms.

    6. kinect should be a minor focus, like the move which was hardly talked about at the ps4 announcement, the kinect should be barely touched on, say “this is how much better it is” and “every xbox will have a kinect in the box” ; but don’t sit there and show 5 kinect games when that happens the audience at home thinks “oh god here we go again” and facepalms as we see random dance game, random kid games, then oh look a game that almost looks fun…. but it’s kinect so rather use a controller… is shown.

    7. show love for developers and indie. MS has been notorious with pricing of backend and dev costs. seriously we give devs free patching, let devs put dlc for free there is no reason for it. for those that dont know, cliffy B wanted gears DLC to be free, all of it, guess who wouldn’t let that happen. Fez developers have a bug in the game, but they can’t fix it without paying MS for thousands and thousands of dollars.

at the moment, with this gen, the only reason indie devs are OK with xbox is it’s much easier to develop for the 360 over ps3, but face it, that advantage is gone with next gen so the current treatment of developers won’t fly. I wonder how consumers will feel when ps4 has the arcade/indie game developers are on ps4, not xbox.

    8. This would be a major selling point, but it’s something that should come to consoles. Pricematching digital.

Atm, everyone who follows gaming knows about steam, and other PC services. games on steam and stuff during sales are massively discounted. pricematch it. the day terraria came out on xbox for $15, steam put it for $3. there is more of course when steam has a sale, it’s a sale, retail games are usually 50% off sometimes more, sometimes these games are new as well. indie and smaller games its even better when you have a $10 game 75% off it ends up $2.50, which looks a lot better than $10, at low prices like that people will buy it even if they hardly want it. I guarantee price matching PC services would bring about a huge upset, as one of the few reasons to buy PC is game prices. guarantee

    • Ivanx360xpira

oh…MS and don’t forget to pick up a console that won’t freeze during the show, as happened with the surface presentation…rsrs

    • http://www.facebook.com/mountaindewiscool Alex Fiedler

      1. Completely agree. I never wanted to believe it, and after the recently leaked documents from the Verge, I don’t believe it at all, but it’s very much necessary to put this whole bunch of BS to rest.
      2. I’m not too huge on exclusives, but I totally agree that exclusives sell consoles these days. As the ashamed brother of someone who bought a 1st generation PS3 just to play Metal Gear Solid 4 and pretty much nothing else (despite the other, quality exclusives), I understand the appeal and I hate it. I’ll settle for a Halo 2 Anniversary launch title, but I know there’s so much more out there.
      3. Totally agree. I love the VR Room concept, but unless it’s really ready to go, don’t show it off.
      4. Yes, yes, and yes.
      5. I’m one of those notorious fanboys who doesn’t have much of a problem with Gold, but I at least understand where everyone’s complaints come from. They can definitely do themselves a great service by other vastly upping the value of the gold membership vs. other consoles (most likely move) or dropping the cost and lowering the value (ie making apps like Netflix available to Silver subscribers).
      6. See, this is where I have to disagree. I love the kinect. No, it’s not great for core gamers, but for people like me, who have children and who host a lot of parties, the kinect is absolutely awesome. Worth showcasing? Probably. A lot of “hardcore” gamers will grumble, but a lot of ordinary, average people looking at their future in entertainment will talk a lot about how the new XBOX has a Kinect built right in.
      7. Cliffy B, bless him, is an idealist. DLC made him, his (former) company, and Microsoft a lot of money. It would be fantastic if the DLC was offered free as a kind of fan service, but everybody wants to make a buck and at most I think you’ll see more of the Battlefield Premium/season pass pricing scheme. Also, Polytron made a ton of money and released a buggy patch. They were quoted as saying that re-certification for the new patch would have cost them “tens of thousands of dollars,” A) They can do a free patch every quarter and B) the certification of a patch will, at most, cost $10,000. Either way, that whole story is, in the words of Mitt Romney, a “tar baby.”
      8. Totally, totally, totally agree. Cheaper digital and day 1 digital release would be amazing. Although they’ve gotten better in the last year or so with slowing depreciating prices on from of the games on demand titles, as well as with sales, they still have a long way to go to come close to Steam’s pricing system. Unfortunately Microsoft, for several obvious and not so obvious reasons, cannot compete with Steam on pricing, they can definitely make a much better effort.

new games please. anything other than gears, halo or forza.

    • Volitar Prime

I expect to see more about new games at E3 instead of here. This will probably be more about the hardware and its specs and features.

    • ElektroDragon

Ha! Dream on there. MS already sold off or destroyed all its other first party studios. If you want a large selection of AAA exclusives, I’m afraid you have to look at a Sony.

  • http://twitter.com/Luih Luih

will it be a 10 minutes games and console, and 50 minutes kinect conference ? I hope NO please

  • Volitar Prime

In the past it was common practice for a new console system to be sold at a loss with the idea that eventually the cost to manufacture it would come down and the loss would be made up for with the sale of games. This time around Sony decided to play it safe with the PS4 and are going to sell it for cost since it took them too long to make up for the initial losses with the PS3. I was personally disappointed in the lackluster specs of the PS4 because of this.

This is giving MS a wonderful opportunity to release a higher spec and more capable system if they are willing to subsidize it in the same manner as they have in the past. I will be really disappointed if MS doesn’t do this and follows Sony’s safe route.

I hope that the next Xbox is truly a next generation system and not something that specs out about the same as my year old laptop.

Though I don’t necessarily disagree with you, I’m not sure where you’re getting this “sell it for cost” line from. It’s not entirely impossible, but with the infrastructure Sony has built around Playstation, I find it highly unlikely. The environments that gamers buy into are what enable companies like Sony and Microsoft to sell systems below cost, but in Sony’s case with the PS3, said environment didn’t generate the kind of capital needed to completely make up for the massive loss each was sold at. This wasn’t the case with Microsoft then, and definitely isn’t the case with Microsoft now (ads on screen, anybody?). Sony is also in a much better place with Playstation +, the new streaming system, Vita support, etc. Even with Vita sales being ..underwhelming, this should encourage them to build a cheaper system and sell it for cheaper.

      • Volitar Prime

There is a news story floating around from a week ago which states that Sony has announced to their investors that the PS4 will not be sold at a loss. Just do a search for “PS4 won’t be sold at loss” and you should find it.

  • Angry Consumer

I think that tent will be in the shape of the next Xbox by the end of the event.

  • http://twitter.com/GadgetBoySTL GadgetboySTL

You had better make sure the build quality is a little better than the 360. What a turn off that mess was

  • mama mambo

Here is what I want in the next console…..

For it to be very powerful, great build quality, and all the negative rumors to have been false. If any of those are true, and it’s gimped performance wise, I would be willing to bet you will see pre-orders for PS4 spike. Don’t let us down MS, gamers are fickle, Halo or no Halo.

  • ElektroDragon

The special structure is indicative of the ideal space requirements needed to properly use Kinect 2.0. :D

Anytime a New Console comes around I’m excited. I hope it is a more Gamer centeric Console first and Entertainment second. I will have to temper my expectations and not to expect too much. Let the Gaming begin.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

Hahahaha you’re new to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 aren’t you? They haven’t been focused on games for a few years now, unless you care for that Kinect garbage. Consider your hype, lowered.

      • Nick Peck

Funny, I have played and still have yet to play a ton of games on my 360, not sure where you went wrong there. Halo and Gears have outsold Killzone, Uncharted, Resistence and God of War by like 15-20 million in sales and I haven’t even counted on the latest releases so it’s probably more by now.

Quantity is not always quality, but that depends on the types of games you like to play. Of course there are more exclusives but I just picked and added up the most popular ones to simplify it.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Erik-Hover/100000771716067 Erik Hover

I’m just a gamer. I like playing on games on all consoles. I will admit the KInect is not for me. The key to success for Microsoft & Sony is to get back to their Gamer Roots. It is a exciting time for me.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dane-Miller/500337604 Dane Miller

People are actually excited about this next gen? Buy a PC, better support/games/controls. Everything is better on PC, these next gen consoles have nothing to offer other then entertainment. Anyone who calls themselves part of the “hardcore” crowd and chooses a console over a PC is not part of the “hardcore” crowd. You just play inferior games on an inferior console.

    • http://twitter.com/MKTheory John Doe

How’s that Sim City 3 treating ya?

      • Gene

        Ice cold.

They are busy begging for a GTAV port.

        • fsdfg dsfds

Pc still hasnt even got RDR lol, PC all good but the elitist douche bags have no idea, millions of noobs still play lame valve source games allday ,what a joke! every game that uses source is the most mind numbing boring experience ive ever had, ive had steam for like 5 + years and my rank is “teh noob” shows how much i like it

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

i agree man. had a pc elitist on steam yesterday saying they would have to dumb down planetside 2 if it ever came to ps4(i hope it does). going on like if you use a pc you’re more intelligent than a console player. 99% of games on pc or console are no brainers anyway especially shooters.

    • http://twitter.com/Protege420 Protege

“consoles have nothing to offer other then entertainment”

perfect that is what I was shooting for….

    • TonyLN

It seems to me Dane that you must be somewhat excited seeing as how you have been following Majors blog for quite some time. It’s just that you don’t know how to say anything positive. Look back at your posts… All you can do is complain. I feel sorry for you not being able to find enjoyment wherever it can be found.
That being said – I’m excited for the Next Gen consoles because at they push games to the next level for everyone, even PC gamers. I’m also excited for the exclusives that come to consoles. I’m also excited to see what it will do in the way of media entertainment.

      • Riddick Snipes

        Spoken like a true gentleman.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Dane-Miller/500337604 Dane Miller

Tony, I follow this website looking for excitement. I follow a lot of sites, I’m a bit of a nerd like that. I’ve supported Microsoft/Xbox/Xbox Live/ Windows Phone since day one of all of them. Barring Microsoft since that was started before i was born. That being said I have almost no excitement in new consoles, and see them as slowing down the progression of the whole industry. Modding, development, communication, gameplay, features, price are all better on PC.

I’m hoping there is a game that draws me into purchasing a next gen console but I’m not expecting it. Games like GTA, Halo, Gears, etc are dry and boring. I like sitting back and enjoying a game on the couch just as much as the next guy. Thats why i have a wireless 360 transmitter and a wireless controller so all my games that are better with a controller can still be played on my 1080P HDTV with 5.1 surround in full resolution, for cheaper and usually with more features.

Acting liek “fumbling with a mouse and keyboard” is a hard thing to do is crazy talk. Simple app on your phone gives you a touchpad and a keyboard, and with the incoming STEAMBOX and big picture mode renders this a non-issue. Maybe PC gaming is harder to “engineer” but once you have your setup all fine tuned everything is seamless. To me that’s half the fun.

    • Riddick Snipes

      Go spit

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Bush-O-Connor/555604190 Bush O Connor

or you could be a gamer and play on every format. only thing pc has over consoles nowadays is the modding scene.
before you say gamers are more mature on pc no they are not. just looking at the forums on steam yesterday its full of kids.

      • Nick Peck

        Pretty much, well said.

    • boe2

I love pc gaming. I love console gaming. Shame that I am not as hardcore as you :(

    • Nick Peck

Then why come here and say this? I don’t get people that don’t like something, but they take the time to sign up and comment. No one cares.

Sitting at a desk all day to then play games all day at another desk wore out on my many years ago. Not to mention trying to fumble around with a m/kb when you plug a pc into the tv is just a waste of time. Consoles are a blast and much cheaper.

There are so many games that pc’s don’t get and vice versa, though the games pc’s get I don’t really care for anyways. It’s personal preference, don’t come here acting like your way is the right way.

    • PSN_IS_GARBAGE

No thank you, I don’t do PC gaming and my last name is not Poindexter, thank you very much.

    • Nick Peck

Same here, as much as I can’t wait for the weekend to come, I’d rather pass it over to get to Tuesday faster lol.

  • Guest

Microsoft, please, stop milking Gear and Halo for a while.

We need new franchises from the guys that we care about.

New exclusive IPs from 343 and Epic would be awesome.

    http://youtu.be/XgS67BwPfFY

We all would love to have this as a game, just like what happened to Gears of War.
You guys know Epic, and you know that they can make something epic out of it.
The Samaritan has potential and all the gamers know that, since it can be easily your first Hack n Slash game, being able to face the God of War franchise, and maybe even beat it

    Sincerely

    -Your community

    • Dangerous Joe

      This!

  • ODST_365

What do you want to see in the next Xbox?

    • Dangerous Joe

New IPs from 343 and Epic.
      Less Kinect and gimmicks.
Better specs than the PS4, i think its GPU needs more TFlops.
      At least 2.4 Tflops.

      • SteveFNL

And, for those with Kids who like some of the Kinect stuff, it needs to work with a much narrower field of vision in a much smaller space. We don’t all have large homes like MS employees!.

        • Dangerous Joe

I think the Ilumiroom and the new Kinect are just one single piece of device.
So your wish might come true.
As much as i don’t like Kinect, i know that dozens of kid does, all that i need is Microsoft dedicating the same amount of money and time they spend in Kinect, with hardcore gamers like me, who doesn’t like the Kinect sensor.

  • Kari Gerik

sweet! I got a free Xbox Live code and it was valid! Crazy! Check this site out: freexboxliveforever|d●t| co

Why can’t I download the twitch app from the Dutch Xbox store? It’s an international service, so why would you limit it to the US only?

  • lethargicj

I just now noticed the time on this thing. Why in the world is this being done so early in the day? Don’t you think that most people interested in this event are going to be at work or school at that time?

    • SteveFNL

They’re making a big deal of streaming it to all their Xbox Live regions (41 I think) so maybe this is the most suitable time to accommodate most regions so that it’s not in the middle of the night. Or, maybe it will be an 8 hour event!!

    • TonyLN

Because the press is going to be there; it’s going to be hands on for the attendees after the announcements are done — and they want everyone talking about it all day!

    • http://twitter.com/xiRaGe Max

10am PT is about 7pm in Central Europe and 3am in Australia. The US isn’t the only country on this planet and they wanted to make it available to a lot of people. The event will be available on VOD afterwards anyways. It’s a press event and presentations at E3 are also being done before noon.

What worries me is if the xbox has GDDR3 ram.
I wish it had GDDR5 memory and a good graphics card, but I believe in MS.
    And of course new IPs.

    • Dangerous Joe

      Consoles don’t use graphic cards.

      • LarZen

Sure it does…its just not removable.

      • http://twitter.com/Freemoon123 Carlos Vieira

        You’re wrong.

        • Dangerous Joe

A Gpu isn’t a graphic card, do some research.

          • http://twitter.com/Freemoon123 Carlos Vieira

It’s the same thing, only on consoles is onboard.

  • http://twitter.com/celsowm Celso F

    is DDR3… not GDDR3

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is shipped with 512 MB of GDDR3.

    • Dangerous Joe

      GDDR 3, not DDR3, and isn’t confirmed.
The lat updates showed ddr4 used in desktops.

Make it play all the games I own for 360, but with full 1080p, 16xAA and 60fps. :-)

  • http://twitter.com/Hestar69 Rob Hestar(★♋)

I hope the console has LOTS of new ips.Something the xbox has been lacking the last few years..Give me:

    -Lost odyssey 2
    -KI 3
    -New conker game
-Halo 2 HD ( I know this will be announced as console launch game to push systems)
    -a GOOD fable game
    -Alan Wake 2
    -Kameo 2

I could go on but you get the point (hopefully)

    • http://twitter.com/bleah3 Red Dotter

those aren’t new ip’s. those are sequels.. the current problem of this generation

      • TonyLN

Those game need sequels… Give me a good sequel every 3 – 5 years and I am happy. I agree with you though that this Gen coming out with 1 or 2 new versions of an IP every year is dumb!

      • http://twitter.com/Hestar69 Rob Hestar(★♋)

I never said they were.. I just said give me those games I listed and some new IPs :P..I love my 360,but the games have been pretty lack luster. Halo 4 was good,Judgement is horrible fable 3 was trash can worthy..I want Microsoft to get new studios and build a great first party like sony has..Sure XBLA has amazing games, but what about first party retial…After halo and forza you got nothing really.

    • TonyLN

I want a Halo Trilogy Complete — 1 Blu-ray disk (or 3) — Halo 1 – 3… Maybe Reach… But if they put that in it should start that way and tie it all together in order. I am so excited for tomorrow!

Also yes to Alan Wake, Kameo & Lost Odyssey… I can could go without another Fable Game… But a new IP from them would be nice.

      • http://twitter.com/Hestar69 Rob Hestar(★♋)

I agree with Fable…I liked fable 1 alot but 2-3 have been horrible. I Sitll hold out hope for a good fable game

    • http://twitter.com/Rodin10 Rodin

Game lineup will be shown on E3 if I remember correct

      • http://twitter.com/Hestar69 Rob Hestar(★♋)

It’s already been said that a new FIFA and MMA game wil be shown off tomorrow.I’m sure 2 games most people dont care about or are system sellers. Im sure e3 they’ll save some surprises but if they want people to be hype for the new xbox they better show 1 or 2 system seller games aswlell

    19 Hours Remain

    - Microsoft Make Us Proud. Much has changed in the video game landscape since Microsoft unveiled the Xbox 360 in 2005. Back then, Microsoft was a clear underdog, hoping to cut into the leads held by rival consoles from Nintendo and Sony. The Xbox had a core following, to be sure. But it also had plenty of ground to make up.Just last week, NPD reported that 130,000 Xboxes were sold in April in the United States, making the Xbox the best-selling video game console in the country, the 28th consecutive month it’s been in that spot.
