How about you just make a PC game? :/

    • Reinier Martinez

      Windows 8 is a PC game…

      • ReadTheArticlePlz

Well it says windows 8 but it then says touch-based devices which leads me to believe only on the phones and surface tablets. Standard pc’s probably don’t qualify.

        • Reinier Martinez

Watch the video again at 1:12″ and tell me what do you see on the right side of the screen…

          • ReadTheArticlePlz

Eh I’ve dealt with MS long enough to not trust imagery alone. However going to their website they do mention:

“Only on Windows. Available only on Windows 8 PCs and tablets and Windows Phone 8 devices.”

Something they should have just put in their release statement above instead of making us go to the website to see for sure.

        • xPutNameHerex

I’m pretty sure any Xbox-enabled Windows 8 games have to be playable on both tablets and PCs. At least, I can’t think of any that aren’t nowadays (the few that were only playable on one have since been upgraded to both).

        • Karl Cramer

Nothing stopping you from buying a touch screen monitor for your standard PC, but they did say it would work with mouse and keyboard controls.

      • Luneth

I mean a real PC with a good operating system.

        • Holesome

It’s the same “good operating system” as you used before with the new UI (metro) extension. The game will play with mouse so don’t worry. And since when do you ever play a game not full screened anyways? In the end it will look and operate the same as any traditional Windows game.

  • Boss

Have you got the list of sales for this week and next ?

    • http://www.majornelson.com Major Nelson

      Just posted it

      • ReadTheArticlePlz

So is that xbox one policy update you told us last week you would have by Monday coming some time today major?

        • Jeremy Filth

He’s obviously not going to answer those tough questions, you know better than that!

          • ReadTheArticlePlz

He also deleted his tweets from last week about it. And he just deleted a tweet saying he never said Monday. (It shows up on the right of this page but if you go to his twitter feed the post is already gone)

  • Alexander

    What about Windows RT?

    • Haymo

Windows 8 apps work on RT. So yes, this will be in RT.

  • Willy Chris Hui

I really am hoping for a nice Halo surprise at E3 :/

  • ReadTheArticlePlz

How exciting, yet another thing myself as a person who bought your flagship Nokia Lumia 900 the week of launch will never get due to MS deciding to change the hardware needed for windows phone 2 months after launch. Nothing like your brand new phone becoming outdated when you still have 22 months left on your contract!! One year left to go and then I can get off of WP.

    • Holesome

Frustrating when the switched from Windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8. My son is in the same position and a bit frustrated.

In my case I managed to upgrade to a Nokia 920 Windows Phone 8 and I have to say this phone is excellent! Don’t give up.

Also, if you are Canadian the CRTC just ruled that 3 year contracts can now be cancelled out of at 2 years with no penalties. :) Maybe this can help you flip to a new phone quicker and without having to pay out the last year of your contract.

    • TheDahaka

Sucks big time, im in the same boat. bought a samsung omnia windows phone only for it to become worthless. way too quick to drop a product. i wont be buying again.

  • Reinier Martinez

OMG! So glad I just updated my Lumia 710 to a Lumia 820… :D

  • kingcrusher

This does look cool. But only on Win8 and WinPhone makes it so I can’t play it. Too bad, because I’d like to play this one, but not enough to make me switch phones or OS.

  • TonyLN

Game looks cool – But I am disappointed to see that you (as in MS) are not leveraging the RT aspect and making it a buy once play on any Windows 8 device. Would have been super cool if I could have picked it up on my Phone (If I had a windows phone) – get home and pick up where I left off on my tablet and/or PC — then when the One comes out be able to play the same game (with the same saves) on there too.

If you (MS) had done that I would have been purchasing a Windows Phone this time around, and a Tablet in the near future. As it stands I’ll pick this up for the PC and stick with my Android Tablet & Phone as I see no reason to switch over yet.

    • ReadTheArticlePlz

But Tony, you can use a windows phone as a remote for your xbox. Doesn’t that make it worth it to you?? (btw.. I have a WP I used the remote feature once. The controller is a better remote.)

      • TonyLN

        =) — I can also use my Android tablet/phone as a remote.

      • Holesome

I have high hopes for the concept of Smartglass and the remote portion but I can’t help feeling once again the MS didn’t create a complete and usable solution. As an example, Smartglass should auto-connect and stay connected in the background even if Smartglass has suspended or has been exited. It takes too much time to reconnect every time you want to go back into the app. In addition it often fails to connect/reconnect. This app and especially the remote need to be instant and always available.
Hopefully a new and improved version will be released when xbox one comes out.

    • mcmax3000

I’m under the impression from another article that you can in fact use the same save across devices, so they’re at least getting that part right, but my understanding is you still have to buy it separately on each device, which is where that whole thing falls flat on its face.

      • Nick Peck

All of $7 won’t break the bank. But yes, it will work like Skulls of Shogun and have one cloud save that you can pick up on either platform. It works really good between my wp8 and surface pro.

    • Haymo

But but.. The Xbox One is going to have apps. Windows 8 apps. is it not likely that the Xbox One will have the game available? and working with the saves? of course you only will have to buy one game on the windows phone, and one on windows 8, but since any purchase on Windows 8 is synced with your account, your Windows 8 pc, Windows 8 RT tablet, and your Xbox One will have the game. Naturally as mcmax3000 mentions, this game will use cloud sync. Simples! have I converted you now?

      • TonyLN

Do you have a source for that (RT apps on the One)? I expect they will; but I have yet to see an official word from MS.

        • John

They won’t be RT (ARM) apps on the Xbox One. They will be apps based on the WinRT framework, like on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. One SDK will serve many platforms this way.
It will very likely be the platform for indies to self publish their games as well. News will be released at Build.

          • Haymo

Thanks John, you can obviously explain it better than me;p But yes, the framework will be the same making it very likely that it will be on the One. On Build all will be revealed, likely at E3 too.

  • http://www.facebook.com/wayne.booker Wayne Booker

Finally some Halo on the pc

    • Peter M.

Halo 3 is already in the steam database, so its just a matter of time.
mouse, keyboard controls and free online. woohoo!!

      • Bush O Connor

i’d buy it, it was great messing around with the map maker on halo vista.

      • John

Many of those are just placeholders that never see the light of day though.

  • http://twitter.com/iamnovatribe NOVA

People thought MS wasn’t gonna have games…………..they are ALREADY announcing great new games a week away from E3….for new platforms and 360……..ya’ll REALLY think Xbox One is going to be ‘devoid’ of major hits??? Your buggin.

This and the fable announce already confirm what I thought. Microsoft is holding a NUKE for E3 that’s gonna shock the gaming world.

    • ReadTheArticlePlz

Very few of us doubted the xbox would have games. It’s the policy issues that the vast majority have a problem with. (Oh and Major, where is that policy update you told us you would have by Monday. Either post it or tell us it’s not going to happen. Deleting your twitter posts about it isn’t going to make us forget about it.) Also you really cant call a remake of Fable 1 a major hit. It’s a game from the original xbox made to work with the 360. And take a look at that just announced Disney Fantasia Dance Game. The trailer indicates it’s an xbox exclusive. Is that one of the exclusives we were teased with during the reveal. If so, my confidence about the rest of the exclusives just dropped quite a bit.

      • mcmax3000

“Very few of us doubted the xbox would have games.”

Oh, there were a lot of people doubting that when the reveal happened.

        • Nick Peck

Even though the reveal WASNT about games per say, it was just showing the hardware and some of its capabilities. If anyone went into the reveal expecting a games blow out…. it shows how stupid you are lol.

I have ZERO issues with any of the policies or anything along those lines. I’m buying the system to play games and do everything else it does and that’s it. Don’t think the ps4 wont have it’s own set of rules either people.

          • Jonathan Balagot

I’m glad you are satisfied. I’m not, as I have several issues with the policies that MS has yet to confirm or deny, but hasn’t done so yet, which boggles my mind, and yet I am not surprised.

        • ReadTheArticlePlz

Were they doubting it would have games or just raging because MS didn’t show them. I think its the second.

          • Nick Peck

Probably both even thought they SAID the games would come at E3 and that they would need multiple shows to reveal everything. People expect everything the second they want it and if they don’t get it they rage. Just how people are these days.

  • Alex

Will have mouse and keyboard support. 360 Controller will be patched in.

  • Hugoku

Well, this is sort of underwhelming. Good news for WP users though.
Gives me hope for a really big announcement at E3.

  • ElektroDragon

Sorry., but I’m still sticking to Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7.

    • Holesome

Don’t be sorry. Stick to your guns and stay with what you are comfortable with if only so that you can feel like you didn’t make a bad decision.

  • Volitar Prime

This should have been an XBLA game.

  • https://live.xbox.com/MyXbox/Profile?gamertag=DarkGin87 Lee Rayson (DarkGin87)

Looks good perhaps this will help spark a halo wars 2 ?

  • John

Excellent Major, excellent! Looks like Halo Wars (gameplay is different though) and I loved that!

    • Karl Cramer

I’ve asked this of several 343 and Waypoint people in person. My impression is they don’t want to bother.

  • http://raptr.com/unscleric/about UNSCleric

I can’t wait to play it on my Lenovo Yoga 13.

  • http://raptr.com/unscleric/about UNSCleric

Just watched the trailer and the music had me crying in less than ten seconds.

  • EndrzGame

So has MS completely abandoned Win7 as far as first party game releases go? If so, that really sucks.

    • Jonathan Balagot

Agreed. Well, at least there are other companies and games out there.

      • Fingleberries

I’d say it’s more that they have integrated Xbox Live better into Win8, so they’re going to use that as a differentiator to help move people to Win8 instead of trying to support the awful Games for Windows software.
That being said, there’s always Steam and many other options for other games on Windows.

        • EndrzGame

Yup, Steam has been my go to for a few years now. It’s times like these though when MS publishes something that I know I’d really enjoy but needlessly make it exclusive for Win 8. It’s not the first time that this has happened. Thankfully MS came to their senses on Pinball FX2 and that is now on Steam.

I don’t see the reasoning with the OS exclusivity practice that MS has embraced. I’m happy with Win7 as are a lot of other customers. You would think that as a publisher they’d want to have their products available to as many people as possible.

  • Bennijin

Why the HECK would you cripple this with inferior touchscreen technology and saddle it with what is a worse OS than the previous one?

In fact, why the bloody hell is a HALO game not on the XBOX? Put it on XBLA!

    Ugh, I need a lie down…

    • Karl Cramer

Nothing wrong with Windows 8. It’s smaller and more secure than Win7. If you want to ignore all the new Metro stuff, just press the Desktop tile. Is that really so much of a bother to all the complainers?

      • Bush O Connor

it was to me in the store. i had go of windows 8 and went straight for the start button. first time i havent bought the new windows OS thats on the market.

        • Karl Cramer

Take, literally, 10 minutes to learn the new OS. Put the mouse in the same lower left as the Start button and you’ll see the tile for the Start screen. You can customize that any way you want but if that’s not enough all you had to was right click to see all the same options you used to see with the Start menu.
People started freaking out like it’s impossible to learn. But people rage and yell EVERY time Facebook changes the layout too.

          • Bush O Connor

im just so used to it man, no point in changing it. its like second nature going for the start button.

          • Fingleberries

Apparently Windows 8.1 (Blue) will be for you, then … It seems to have all the great features of Windows 8 with a visible Start Button for those who miss it.
Have to say, Windows 8 is grand for me. Took a bit of getting used to with just Mouse / Keyboard (no touch), but once you get the hang of it. It’s so much better. Win 8.1 seems to also have further updates for Mouse and Keyboard users – it’ll be free upgrade for Win8 users and a public preview build will be released by the end of the month at the BUILD event in Redmond.

          • Bush O Connor

thanks for that info. i might pick it up when this is released. i like messing with the new versions of windows. i loved vista when it came out only it was a resource hog.

  • Stefan

Looks great! Luckily I’m one of the few who hasn’t uninstalled Windows 8 yet!

  • https://twitter.com/#!/BeeDizz BeeDizz

    Looking forward to it.

  • Antonio Galindo

he’s double wielding theirs still hope ;)

  • Jonathan Balagot

I can. Just yesterday. Darksiders 2. And I am having no issues with it.

  • Baron van Dedem

Why not iOs or Android? Nobody owns a Windows Phone 8…

  • Joachim David

I won’t buy it unless it has co-op.

  • Liana Copland

I own a HTC 8S, and worry that there won’t enough space on the phone’s internal memory.. -__-

    • TheDahaka

Exactly my problem. I have a Samsung Omnia with only 8GB of space :(

  • DanoTheOverlord

$8 per platform?! Much as I want better games on my WP and tablet, $16 is steep for a mobile game. Perhaps when there is a 2-for-1 sale or 50% off sale, I’ll entertain buying then. However, if I could buy the game once and use it on both platforms, then $8 is a a good deal.

  • ReadTheArticlePlz

Yes it is a cash cow for gamestop. They have also said in the past that it is the used game sales that keep them open. The profit margin on new games is pretty small. I know a lot of people hate GS but some of actually do like buying used games and GS makes it easy for us.

  • Glenn L

Windows 8 TABLETS and the Windows smart phone are terrible for gaming .. I JUST BOUGHT both a few months back hate them ! Wish I would have bought TEGRA 3 N7 and an Galaxy 4S INSTEAD.
