  • JaeeTV

I might just switch to PlayStation after all..

  • Don Mattrick

Who’s having fun playing defense grid? I know I am!

    • JaeeTV

      and you are lying

    • Dwight Power

You damn liar! So this is how you repay us? We treated you good! We made you famous Don Mattrick!!!

  • Vonrikke

    Xbone facts

  • Symbiosis16Feed

Microsoft already payed a lot of money for this game to be free if we don’t download it Microsoft will be forced to give us better game in fear of wasting money again.

    • Chango Ortiz

I will not download it!!! That’s a promise!!!

  • Justin Weston

This is the last straw for me. I’m definitely getting a PS4 now.

    • Dwight Power

You’re crazy man! So what if MS is giving you “Defense Grid” while Sony is giving Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting?

You should stick with the Xbox…

Who likes playing free games anyway? NOBODY!

      • digitallife

You are either paid by sony or have no life..you’ve been blabbering about ps3 for well over an hour according to your account…I like gaming but this is beyond obsessive.

        • Dwight Power

Listen man, I’m lucky/unlucky enough (however you wanna see it) to get paid to sit at a desk and stare at a screen all day. I have two monitors, one for work, and one for BS. Guess what I’m doing most of the day? And guess what? There is nobody but my good buddies around to tell me anything.

          • Car

Im in the same boat, would much rather be trolling then working

    • ThinkerT

It’s another straw for me. Satisfied 360 owner leaning towards PS4 right now, debacles like this don’t help at all.

  • JaeeTV

    -_-

  • JaeeTV

next free game will be some dueling card game bulls**t

    • ThinkerT

Pong. Then August will be the winning classic combination of PacMan and Ms. PacMan.

      • JaeeTV

lmao. two games sure to get business booming.

    • Justin Weston

      I just bought yugioh! :(

  • Dwight Power

Defense Grid is just as good as Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting combined.

So I dunno why you guys are complaining.

Don’t you get it???!!! Sony is fooling you guys by offering you a ton of free games! All they want is your business! They should be ashamed of themselves!

  • TripleXXXBalla

My handicapped nephue has been playing Fable 3 non stop since we got it, and is progressing very well, right now he is trying Defense Grid, he’s sort of just staring at the screen hoping it will be over soon.

    • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

Doesnt sound good, will ned to test it soon.

    • Dwight Power

      I’m calling child services.

No child should have to live in those conditions.

For less than ten cents a day, you too can help a child subscribe to PS+

      • TripleXXXBalla

It’s over now he decided he’d rather play a demo of wheel of fortune.

  • m w

Ive been pretty f**kin faithful to microsoft even before they removed DRM I was gonna get the xbone, but really I have both 360 and ps3 and this is just a dumb move if they are trying to win customers, really defense grid? really if you guys and girls and microsoft sitting in your offices with jacouzzis think youre doing a good job youre kidding yourselves, this is more of a pissoff than family guy season 9, who the f**k wants to play defense grid? do better. and furthermore theres not even a f***ckin shortcut on my 360 dash or on your online page that connects you to the free games, Ive already voiced my concern on your customer service chatline so you guys do the maths if you really are a company that has the consumer in mind.

    • digitallife

Two months ago you were getting nothing..now you are getting something for free even if it’s not your taste in gaming but you are leaving because of that? Seriously…GOOOOO one less person to mute in multiplayer.

      • Dwight Power

No, he’s leaving because he sees other people getting Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting on the PS3.

        • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

Will he also start to post on Microsoft blogs then? Also itz on PS3 time to sleep dude.

          • Dwight Power

You are right, you are wrong.

          • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

            Yes thats not true.

          • m w

Im frustrated because if this was a move to appease customers it should a been a good move, Im no fanboy unlike most of yall
, Ihave both 360 and ps3 and I prefer my 360, but if they are trying to reach out to their fanbase it wasnt a good move.

        • digitallife

Yeah games most of us already have i’d rather get something free i wasn’t likely to try in the first place..that’s what i call option gaming. Don’t like it I can play what I have now until the 16th.

      • ThinkerT

Thus is the risk of getting people’s hopes up and why you don’t want to mess up the launch of a program like this.

        • digitallife

It’s being tested they are warming up larger publishers to the idea..let’s not act like sony didn’t start their program exactly the same way.

          • ThinkerT

Doesn’t matter – what matters is right now and how it’s making 360 owners feel. It could change, but it’s certainly not what MS needed right now with all of their current bad pub.

          • m w

exactly , they are still recovering from the bad pub from e3.

          • digitallife

Making me feel plenty good my wife is enjoying the hell out of these free games..we just went and bought fable 2 after liking fable 3 so to each their own.

    • Carl Houghton

“who the f**k wants to play defense grid?”

“furthermore theres not even a f***ckin shortcut on my 360 dash or on your online page that connects you to the free games”

Er, you do I guess? If you haven’t played it, don’t shoot it down fool. It’s a brilliant game.

      • m w

go home youre obviously missing the point

  • digitallife

Look at the sony fanboys so insecure about the next gen wars they have to actually travel to microsoft boards to troll..let the consoles speak for themselves a year from now you can brag today whether you are getting a ps4 or a toaster oven is irrelevant.

    • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

      You are my man dude.

      • Dwight Power

        EEWW. Gross.

        • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

          You mean like your face?

          • Dwight Power

YUCK! Keep your comments to yourself. This is AMERICA! We don’t tolerate your G@Y WAYS!

          • ConcernedGAMER

            child

    • ConcernedGAMER

look at the MS fanboy who can’t think for himself.

      • digitallife

I’m on a microsoft site and I haven’t said anything negative about the ps4 but you sure got butthurt over me telling you that your opinion is pointless at this point in time. So who belongs here and who doesn’t?

        • Ivanx360xpira

yes…you a so right, this blog is infested with sony fanboys…it’s getting annoying…

          • Dwight Power

Those aren’t fanboys you see. Those are ex-bots. Future PS4 owners.

          • digitallife

Says the guy who is clearly being paid by sony…just look at his account timeline.

          • digitallife

Ouch I hit a nerve lol

          • Dwight Power

            Dammit… you got me…

Sony and I made an agreement… I spread the good word of the PS+ to the Xbox masses, and I get to have access to games like Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting.

Oh, no wait. That’s just how PS+ works!

          • ConcernedGAMER

            Respond to yourself much? lol

          • ConcernedGAMER

Fact… MS shot their own foot when they announced their new revolutionary features at E3. Fact… MS tried to take a few steps back and say they wouldn’t do any of the “no used games” garbage. Fact… MS still has a clause in their user agreement that says they can revert back to their original plans at ANY GIVEN TIME. If you think he’s a sony fanboy for supporting a company devoted to creating a better gaming experience than trying to dictate how and when you can play a game like MS, well then, I’d be honored just to not be associated with MS.

        • ConcernedGAMER

Did I imagine the “sony fanboy” statement? that puts you in MS’s corner. Do you need to say negative comments beyond that? No, because you’ve already chosen your corner.

          • digitallife

I didn’t go to a sony site to make the statement I made it right at home so if i’m here it’s because i support xbox. I have never once visited a sony board to bad mouth them nor to talk up the xbox..so if you are here and it applies i’m sorry that the truth hurts.

          • ConcernedGAMER

I’m here looking for my free game since I’ve supported MS for years. And as the years have pressed on, I’ve started to lose faith in a company that at every turn, tries to burn their consumers. If you can’t see the truth in that, how can you ever move out of your parents basement?

    • ConcernedGAMER

If you honestly think a year from now that MS won’t change their customer agreement in favor of MS and go back on everything they quickly changed after E3, then you sir are a bit lacking in the brain department. They’ll take it out on ALL their “loyal” customers once they feel they’ve got their icy grip into every customer’s soul.

      • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

        I fackin hope they do.

        • ConcernedGAMER

Wow…. has your IQ gone above 50 at any part of your life?

    • Symbiosis16Feed

We need as much support as we can get to make our voice heard so I say welcome playstation fans.

      • digitallife

Yes welcome to buying one or learning about one. if it’s to bad mouth something you haven’t touched yet nor have seen in person yet then the x button on the tab you are on right now is the exit.

  • RedBulik

Hey! I would like to trade my Xbox360 with like ~30 games for a gameless PS3!

    • Dwight Power

Nah, nah. I see what you’re doing there.

You know you’re gonna get a ton of free games on the PS+. You can’t fool me! Throw in a Wii U and I might consider trading for my second PS3.

      • RedBulik

That’s what I was thinking of :) Since i’ve played maybe 1 game from PS+ list.

        • Dwight Power

You don’t want any part of this man… it’s not as good as it sounds.

You start seeing your 500GB hard drive run out of space, and you start seeing a bunch of games you don’t have time to play.

          It’s not worth it.

My backlog of games is insane. Trying to play the new releases I want, and the ones offered on PS+ is hell.

  • Mercutio

I don’t trust MS anymore… simple as that. I was defending Microsoft since the original Xbox. There has just too many lies, too many “legal loopholes” to evade their own commitments. What is the matter with you, who is in charge of that company?? Bill Gates must be having a heart attack thinking what you have been doing with that company. You want to have the innovative image from Apple and the greedy as EA and you are failing to achieve both. I’m not a hater, quite the opposite, I used to like Microsoft, but this lack of care is appalling. Don’t tell me that you care because you’re doing this Games for Gold programme, because you’re doing it because your competitor managed to do something better. There is nothing worse than say one thing and do another. Do you really care about your customers at all? First the Xbox One lies and deceit (and don’t tell me that you changed your mind because you “love” us, it is because the industry gave you a backlash), now these little things…. Would it really change your grand scheme of things if you have released Halo or AC II as stated before?

All I can say is: good luck Microsoft. I supported you for many years. Not any longer. You can keep your Plants vs Zombies game (oh wait, that’s not even it…)

    • robmc

      Bye Bye

      • Mercutio

Bye bye robmc! Good luck with Pac-Man next month! :)

        • robmc

          I will.

  • Jonathan Miley

I’m all for free games. I mean, I downloaded Fable 3 when it was free even though I already own the retail Xbox version and the PC version but this… this is terrible. Give us something with meat on it’s bones. Give us something that’s not so safe. Give us Dishonored, The Witcher, Mass Effect 1 2 or 3… Give us something that makes Gold seem worth it.

    • Dwight Power

That’s crazy talk buddy. That giving away games people actually want to play is SONY non-sense.

You don’t speak like that ’round these parts. You heard?

      • Jonathan Miley

Haha. True. I’ll try to refrain from such blasphemies in the future.

    • ThinkerT

I keep going back to what would have happened if MS had gotten this right. A decent AAA game (like the ones you mention, although Dishonored is probably too new for this) available precisely at 12:01 am on July 1. How impressed people would have been and how all the gaming sites would have reported it as a success. Instead…

      • Jonathan Miley

        Right?
Yeah, Dishonored is probably too new but, hey, Sony is gave away Sleeping Dogs and is giving XCOM…

      • m w

Yea if they had done this right they woulda won back alot of people that are half in half out

        • ConcernedGAMER

          very tru

  • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

UGLY im out for now, cya tommorowz maybe. And dont forget, always keep smiling ;)

    • RedBulik

      F you :3

      • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

        Good n8 all :)

        • ConcernedGAMER

“good neight all”?? made no sense buddy.

    • Bryan2Blazed

Are you really sub replying to a girl you talked to on a message board. After you have been trolling here all day. I have never seen such a waste of a human life.

      • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

Wait you did see a girl here?

  • silentazure

The PR missteps have become humorous to watch at this point. The last few months have been a slow motion train wreck for you guys.

Yusuf Mehdi might want to brush up the old resume.

    • m w

      u r right

    • http://www.facebook.com/luke.morin.12 Luke Morin

it wasnt Mr Mehdi who messed up. it was the xboxsupport3 in twitter who told somebody halo3 and AC2 would be this month..

Mr. Mehdi said “id like to show just 2 of the titles over the next few months” did not say they would be this month… that was a support member in twitter.. however. There have been SEVERAL articles on the internet because of that post.. they should have squashed it.. but did not. so they should have followed through..all they did was get their fans.. or even semi-fans mad at them.

      • silentazure

Yusuf Mehdi is in charge of Marketing for Xbox. How would you rate the performance of that group in the past few months?

  • EwwToArcadeGame

can imagin how hard it is for a big company like Microsoft to not being able to post a link to a free game ? lol

  • digitallife

Sony must be dolling out a ton of money to their “platinum” group to troll anything Microsoft.

    • BigPattyG

I wish I was in that group.

    • Bryan2Blazed

No dude. We xbox 360 fans are sick of the B$. We want to trust them but know we no longer can. Consumer is a word they no longer understand or care about..

  • JaeeTV

is there at least one person that enjoyed this game? even a little?

    don’t worry ill wait…

    • EwwToArcadeGame

never played it and honestly everyone I know and me hate them games but free is free! but its hard to understand why a big company like Microsoft are finding hard to post a link to a game. its been 24hours this is crazy

      • Timothy Shilleto

        links above work now

        • EwwToArcadeGame

thanks ill download it give it 1 min then most probably delete it but hey worth a try

    • http://www.facebook.com/luke.morin.12 Luke Morin

it is 10000x better on PC.. the control with xbox controller is horrible.. i prefer keyboard and mouse for these type of games (got it 5 years ago for pc)

    • Carl Houghton

You must be sheltered if you’ve never heard of this game. There was even a Kickstarter recently for its sequel, which gained $270’000, from 6’000 backers. So yes, there is at least ONE person who enjoyed this game, it’s a fantastic experience. You do need to use your head to plan your strategy in advance though, so beware!

      • Robtroy

Don’t need 4 yr old game want something that’s not an arcade title that il finish with in a week

        • Carl Houghton

You’d rather have a full priced game like bioshock infinite which you’ll complete in a couple of days then?

      • JaeeTV

I never said I haven’t heard of it. just that the game is garbage.

        • Carl Houghton

You’re just being pedantic now. The game is far from garbage, you’re just purposefully hating it for the sake of being able to follow the other fools on here who have never played it.

      • Bryan2Blazed

        NERD

    • Don Mattrick

      Moi

    • BigPattyG

They could have gone with Braid or Fez instead (two of my favorite games of all time), and it still wouldn’t change what the real issue here is. Microsoft allowed everyone to believe that there was a specific schedule at work, and instead of the expected AAA games, they brought out an inexpensive XBLA game. They knew what people expecting, and thus misled the consumer, which is especially annoying following the confusing Xbone reveal and E3 showing.

      • JaeeTV

exactly. they knew what they were doing. but for some reason people refuse to believe that.

      • Dylan

No way would Jonathan Blow and Phil Fish let Microsoft do that.

Those two are pissed off developers, totally against Microsoft’s publishing antics.

Those two will not be making games for Xbox One, they’ll be on PS4.

  • Mercutio

I really wish to see in one year from now how many Gold subscribers MS will have if they keep doing those bs services….

    • Marcus W.

Why whine when they could have skipped this and given us nothing?

      • ConcernedGAMER

Ummm… thats exactly what they’re doing…. giving us nothing… well, nothing of value.

      • m w

Because then we woulda certainly jumped ship, they seriously do need to do something to put their fanbase at ease

      • Robtroy

They did skip halo3 and ac2 and gave us 4 yr old toilet paper probably used toilet paper at that

        • Costas

          Halo 3 is a 6 y old game

        • Marcus W.

They never said H3 and AC2 would be this month. Just that they were games in the “Games with gold” offer. Sure, the xbox support twitter guys said that, but they were wrong.

          • Robtroy

Yeah but doesn’t matter what way they said it by the looks of it I don’t think we’ll get those till the end when they eventually stop this nonsense they should have said from the get go that most of the garbage would be form arcade then we wouldn’t be as dissapointed

          • Marcus W.

Then let’s wait and see, why make this worse than it really is? And yes, I do hate that they chose Defense Grid.

          • GmailIsDown

yep. people can’t read, but love to complain.

      • Mercutio

Don’t be a fool… they’re not doing it for charity… their competitor is doing it and they are dragging people away. I know many who bought the 360 the same time I did and most of them are not playing anymore because they bought a ps3. So MS is not giving us stuff, they are levelling the game to compete with Sony (well, at least they are trying to). If they don’t do anything similar, they are gone, so MS NEEDS to do this programme. Buy no, let’s do it like you do and keep quiet, and lets receive 5 different versions of Tetris and Mahjong on XBLA… Complaining is also part of improving the programme, you know… if you’re not happy, let them know!

      • Ezel
        • Marcus W.

          And your point is…?

          • Bryan2Blazed

Stop upvoting yourself. This ain’t facebook.

          • Marcus W.

            Because my name is rob…

            Thinking of upvoting myself now.

      • StrikeSudden

I guess when you see customers as whining gamers then they are not really customers. Customers is what drives this thing xbox live and from making purchased themes usless avatar items useless by making the dash board look like win 8. No compensation. The list is long and trust is way low. Zune no longer supported what about all those purchases. I think people are way past whining. They are truly getting enraged.

        • Marcus W.

Not really, the internet is just doing what they love to do the most. Making a matter into much worse than it really is. Like when EA got promoted as the worst company in the US, when there’s lots of others companies who deserve it oh-so-much-more.(oil companies, Bank of ‘Murrica, etc)

  • Vile-Okami

Apparently putting your best foot forward isn’t a phrase MS has heard of. This game would have been fine a few weeks down the road.

    • Bryan2Blazed

      Or never.

      • m w

        lol

      • Vile-Okami

Meh, free is free. Though this game doesn’t interest me. I didn’t expect the games to all be winners.

        • BigPattyG

People keep using the word “free” here, presumably because Microsoft calls it “free games with gold.” I wouldn’t call a perk of a paid service “free.”

          • Bryan2Blazed

Totally agree. Should have been called Gold Rewards.

          • Vile-Okami

I already have a subscription though and this is a bonus that wasn’t something I knew about when I signed up for another year, so yes, free.

  • m w

    your move microsoft****

  • Ib970

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the goal of this program to give back to the players with a free game every two weeks? And hasn’t Microsoft delivered on that so far? You can’t let a misunderstanding around the games you’ll be given cloud your judgement. This is still a great idea and we’re still receiving a fun well reviewed title. Just because you don’t like the game choice, which based on many comments, you’ve never played yourself and therefor shouldn’t pass judgement, doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. I for one have picked up the title and have enjoye it greatly. So thank you Microsoft, keep the games coming.

    • Mercutio

Considering that saying “delivered so far” would be an understatement, given the fact that the programme officially launched today :) Having said that, this was clearly stated in previous gaming websites that they would start with Halo 3 and AC II and the news were quite public for a couple of weeks. So, if people are disappointed, it is more than understandable. I tell you what, if they would have released Halo 3 and ACII this month and then would release Defense Grid on the 1st August, the majority of players wouldn’t complain.

      • Lezlow

This was clearly wrong on the gaming websites then and the anger should be directed at them. Even during when this was announced there was not a “Specific” time mentioned. They mentioned these games as a couple that will be given. Not when. Just saying.

        • BigPattyG

Microsoft knew very well what was being reported and chose not to correct it. That was effectively the same as Microsoft deceiving the customer themselves.

          • Lezlow

Wow. lol. So Microsoft is supposed to go around correcting every single rumor because you as a consumer would rather read rumors and believe them to be true rather than do some research and find the answer. lol. You want to know what corrects poor journalism? You the consumer. Stop reading their crap and they will start doing their job better.

          • BigPattyG

This is the 21st century and Microsoft has a large, active PR department. So yes, it is their job to correct misleading information when it’s being reported by the gaming press. So what the hell does “you the consumer” even mean? What you seem to be saying is stop reading the gaming press altogether and only read Major Nelson’s blog. Sorry if I’m not a loyal enough corporate lap dog for you, Lezlow.

          • Lezlow

You don’t know much about how MS does PR. They don’t go web crawling to find rumors. They let the press come to them and they will comment or not. Like I said before. Sometimes letting speculation go is a good thing to get people talking. But no where did they show what games were coming when. I swear some of the people around here have the mentality of a 10 year old. No what I mean is demand sources and follow up on them. I guess being lap dog for a site feeding bullshit and rumors is much better than being a lapdog and reading straight from the source. I guess I stand corrected. /s

          • BigPattyG

Do you work in the Microsoft PR department? Is that how you know what they do? That would explain a lot, actually. I see you didn’t “lol” as much with this comment.

          • Lezlow

Trying to insult me with a few sentences already tells me that you know nothing about business and are just the average internet user who thinks their opinion matters and is right. Have fun knowing everything.

          • BigPattyG

Your characterization of someone else as an “average internet user” rings hollow when your contributions to the conversation include multiple uses of “lol.” But by no means do I know everything; please, enlighten me using your prestigious and rigorous business education.

          • Lezlow

Wow, just wow. So I guess 99% of the worlds population is dumb according to you since they have used “lol”, an universally known saying and implication. Get with the times. The more you speak the more I feel bad instead of laughing. I am not wasting my time with your petty insults that bring nothing to the conversation. You deliberately insult to drive the conversation elsewhere since you have no idea what you are talking about.

          • Mercutio

We are not talking about 3m websites around the world. I’m talking about the major gaming websites, which would be 4 or 5. Like you said, that’s where the leeches take their news from. So, are you telling me that Microsoft PR department doesn’t know what those 4 websites are writing about their own products? Or are you saying that they don’t have a closer relationship with the big websites? You are not that naive. After all that happened with the Xbox One you still believe that they are not looking what has been published? I bet that “rumour” from the PR department, wanna bet that a lot of people renewed their subscriptions based on that?

If you believe that stop reading would improve journalism, you are mistaken. I don’t know a single person who ever admitted to read “The Sun”. It is still the most sold newspaper in the UK.

          • Lezlow

No No. I know they know. But then I look at it from their point of view. Some things are fine to be left unchecked. Talk about free games is good PR. Even if a couple people rage since they got a 3 year old arcade game rather than a 6 year old game. Some things MS should just let speculation go. This is true about a lot of things. I see a lot of people whining here and I think its sad.and so do a lot of others. So when we read articles about the game and see a bunch of whiners we start getting involved and bam. I am sucked in and the PR train keeps going.

          • Mercutio

It might be PR but it is still bad PR. It might work occasionally, but after so many screw ups from MS, people lose their patience and they will reject certain products. Take EA case with Sim City for example. People will carry on with the Xbox 360 because they have to, Xbox One future does not look promising.

          • Lezlow

I buy consoles for games. MS lineup looks pretty amazing so far. I think that people over estimate the small niche we are that post in comments. There are 46 million people on xbla. I think a couple million regularly look at forums and comments. The rest don’t care. They play games and that is that.

          • Mercutio

That comment doesn’t make much sense. People were complaining about DRM and their limitations is exactly because people care about games. The line up is good (not great, for what I have seen so far), but the original XB1 business model would take them nowhere. You can have the best line up, if the customer doesn’t feel they have value for what they are paying for, they won’t take it. Simple as that. Oh, and for the record… for those who said that people here are just whiners, MS just announced that the next game to be released on the 15th will be ACII. Now you me that the 4000 comments on this page alone didn’t have any effect on their decision…

          • Lezlow

Doubtful. But we will never know for sure. It could have been planned for that day. I mean it is a licensing thing through Ubisoft so I imagine it had to be planned in advance. But who knows. You pretty much proved my point at the end though. You say 4000 people (I am letting it slide that all 4000 posts were all against this game even though they are not or that they are even 4000 people and not multiple posts or spam) changed MS mind? They have 46 million live gold members. So by your reasoning 4000 people or .00008% of the gaming community turned the tides! If you truly believe that then there is really no hope for you. I am pretty sure the millions of downloads the game got speaks for itself.

The small niche I was talking about also goes for the DRM stuff. There were actually a lot of people who just didn’t care because they never loose internet for over a day. Sure they reversed it which is cool. I guess now the “what if” will never occur but we lost a lot of cool things. Problem was MS failed to realize how much hand holding and explaining they would have to do to those who fail to comprehend or hate change. You know that only 6% of the American people don’t have any access to broadband? That’s straight from the FCC as of last August. It’s pretty obvious that people clearly didn’t understand what was being presented, which is MS fault don’t get me wrong. They flopped there. But the flop wasn’t the DRM. It was the way they presented it for not hand holding simple minded people. Their model works fine and it will continue to work fine. There will always be unhappy people because that is the nature of the internet. People think their opinions matter and that they are always right.

As for games and their console, as a gamer their games seemed to blow Sony out of the water. Sony really only showed multi-platform games and a bunch of Indie stuff. More Killzone (Surprise). There were a couple games but nothing really caught my attention. MS will have Titanfall, Project Spark, Dead Rising 3, Below, D4, Fantasia, Killer Instinct, Minecraft, Ryse, Quantum Break (Still iffy if this will be good but its a new type of game, exciting), Sunset overdrive, and Forza. I am sure there are more but these are what I am waiting for. That’s not including the games for both systems. Plus I can truly multitask on my console using voice or controller. I can Skype and play a game while I pretend to listen to my mom’s work drama. I can tell my xbox to put on game of thrones while I mine away in minecraft. I can pull up a guide to help me in The Division. I can stream my content without buying a HPDVR, which saves me 200 bucks. This is the tip of the iceberg. MS is making some ripples in the water and changing the way we game and I love it. The DRM is gone but alot of games are going to require online connection anyway so I guess it doesn’t really matter. Plus with offloading computations like enemy AI to the cloud and other things to allow the X1 to work on other things is amazing. Oh and the Es-ram makes the console right on par with PS4 so whoever thinks that the PS4 is more powerful clearly does not know what they are talking about. Of course they said that about this gen as well and all games are equal. So I guess some people just can’t or won’t understand facts if they hit them in the face.

As you can see as a long time gamer the X1 is for me. Why because the X1 is the future of gaming. PS4 is the past of gaming. They played it safe. They have no vision or plan, just always playing catchup. (Just like they never charged for PSN and now they are.) I’m taking the train to the future with countless others. I’ll see you there when Sony finally plays catchup again.

        • Mercutio

Fair enough if every major gaming site published a wrong story. MS PR department still had 2 weeks to clarify it. They did a lot of effort trying to cover up the DRM issues with the Xbox One, couldn’t they just send one little note about it?

          • Lezlow

It’s because every major gaming site leeches off each other. Once one posts something the others do the same. Whether it’s true or not. It is poor journalism but people seem to love to eat it up. We can’t blame anyone but ourselves.

On a side note it’s not MS job to fix rumors. They gave the information they wanted to give and since people can’t “wait” to be surprised about the games they just make facts up.

          • Mercutio

Well, you have a good point. However, the reader is not to blame either, because he is the weakest link of that information chain. A reader won’t have access to any source that would confirm that information.

Besides, the origin of the rumour came from the Xbox support Twitter account. If that is true, then it is someone from the company making a statement, even if he is saying something completely delusional. If the person is representing a company by using that account, then it is MS job to deny it. Simple as that.

And just to make things clear, I’m not here trying to troll or whine about it. I don’t care if the games would come this month or in December next year. What I care is that MS just stop making silly PR mistakes one after the other. If they can learn something from this experience is very simple: let the customers know like a week in advance or something like that. Just make an announcement about which games would come and the problem is solved. Seems like “surprises”, especially after Gold users feeling that they are not getting enough value for their money (which is true), it is easier to let them know in advance then to make them feel disappointed.

          • Bryan2Blazed

You blame yourself. I’ll blame Microsoft.

          • Lezlow

lol, then you keep raging as MS keeps on trucking. There’s a reason why people like you will never amount to much. You have no ability to be open minded. Ill take those groceries in paper bags please.

        • Charles J Barbour

BS! Microsoft announced at E3 in front of tons of people and on live tv, that we would be getting halo 3 and AC2 this month.

          • Lezlow

lol. You are wrong. Please go back and watch it again. It’s OK. I will wait here.

          • Charles J Barbour

Nope. Your hearing needs work! They clearly said they were giving out halo 3 and AC2 in July.

          • Lezlow

Sorry no. Can you post a link to the video where you think they say that Halo 3 and AC2 will be given right away. Seems like your brain implanted the information you wanted to hear and I would like to refresh your memory.

    • JaeeTV

you know damn well you didn’t like this game. they gotta be paying you.

    • Bryan2Blazed

      Yes worship your master.

    • nicholas laney

For real or are you part of the reputation team? Serious

  • Robtroy

Just looked at market place prices there COD Blackops 2 £34.99 and wait for it MW3 wait for it £49.99 GOD get a grip I could pick these games up in a store not even 2nd hand for £20.00

    • silentazure

The Live market prices have always been a joke. That is one of the main reasons that so many customers hated the idea of digital only games on the Xbone.

      • Robtroy

Yeah I know but there still some young pups out there or stupid people that need reminded how badly MS are taking the PI$$

  • Costas

Entering PS Plus in July for free

we don’t care, we have xbox 360 not ps3

which will change for ALOT of people soon.

        • Marcus W.

          *a lot.

        • Lucas Sanches Cestari

but still this is a blog of one of the developers of the xbox 360 and xbox one, if you want to talk about ps games go to the blog of the ps4 developers and good luck!

          • Dylan

Major Nelson talks about the Last of Us on twitter and on this blog.

          • Lucas Sanches Cestari

i know ‘-‘ but only on podcasts, he already said that he play ps3 sometimes, but this is not a reason to come at his blog and start to disrespect who have the xbox 360

    • nicholas laney

Get ready to be amazed I got 65 games this year. My Vita is full of freebies too.

  • JaeeTV

sad day for Xbox & microsoft

  • Voreo Sabrae

        • BigPattyG

Are you one of those guys who, when asked for a cigarette, makes sure to note, “I don’t smoke”?

Then again, the “see yourself out” comment was diskish.

  • Jay

just played the game for 15 mins. Very boring and i can’t stand it.

    • JaeeTV

      same

  • GmailIsDown

have you actually played this game? this game is not bad at all.

  • Adam Shields

As a member of XBL since Beta days (XBL tag has changed at least 3 times since then) I feel shamed at what XBL has become lately, or rather has not. I accolade them for such great concepts as cross game chat, extending MP gaming to the living room, and multitasking concepts while playing games. These I expect in my future gaming. The last few years haven’t changed for MS that much, however, and Playstation has filled this void. While it is cool that “you can keep” these games, what does it matter when they are paltry games? No disrespect to Defense Grid, I like it. Contrast that however with nearly EVERY title that PS+ has granted their user base and you would have to be ignorant to not see disparity. I would absolutely love XBL to come out of the gate going, “BAM, thanks for holding that door open Sony but we’ll take it from here.” This is not likely to happen. You have games being handed out that MOST MS vets own, not attempting to market to new consumers. You’ll note that PS+ grants people GREAT games from 3rd parties to expand the user base. This is great. We need that. I want my MS back who innovated with the Xbox Original and gave us the great community that is Xbox Live. What we have now is a service that has rested on its laurels. That, to me, is the greatest insult. That, is among the many reasons loyal XBL fans have migrated to PS+. Not because it’s necessarily better… it’s different. XBL needs to grow. Baby steps are no longer an option. -Adam

    • Does Not Equal

      You… accolade them?

      • Adam Shields

Yes, I granted them an award. It’s clearly an error. Should read “Round of Applause.” -Adam

        • Does Not Equal

You round-of-applause them? That’s not any better.

    • Brian David K. Lake

To be honest, I don’t care for free games on either side if I already own them. I care about the blockbusters. So long as Xbox keeps having the best ttitles for me, I am satisfied.

  • BigPattyG

As an American, I’ve always wondered: what does “taking the piss” mean? I hear it in films and such, but its exact meaning has always eluded me.

  • Jason Lafitte

Way to open the purses Microsoft, maybe next month you can give us a free avatar item, or put GTA4 add on’s on sale.

    • JaeeTV

      llmfao!

    • usrev

nah dude fallout 3 DLC should be 25% off, its not like you can buy the GOTY edition on disk for $10.

  • Brock Osbourn

No amount of Larry’s slick talk and technicalities can change the perception they put out there that July would bring us free AC2 and Halo 3. This is the biggest daisy chain of fails I’ve seen in a long time. I will reluctantly buy a PS4 instead of the XBOX One. Just so tired of this…

    • usrev

why be reluctant about it. Sony have owned up to their mistakes with the ps3 and haven’t stopped to try and make it up to the users. had ps3 for a few years now and it’s much better than what MS have done with xbox in that time. MS just stopped caring 4-5 years ago and quite frankly I don’t think they fully realize how bad they are going to get it with the next gen.

  • Pete Osborne

Yup, it’s finally free. On top of that, the Games on Demand sale is live now:

    Perfect Dark Zero 240 MSP
    Prey 240
    Mass Effect 400
Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 400
Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway 400
    Dragon Age: Origins 400
    Assassin’s Creed 3 1200
    Crysis 400
    Max Payne 800
    Divinity 2 DKS 400
    Bulletstorm 400

    Those
are the US prices in Microsoft points, obviously it varies by region – a
few hundred higher in the UK for me but figured the US price gave
people a good groundwork for estimations. Apologies if this is a double post, Disqus is behaving badly for me…

    • Din Taylor

You should work for MS. Your much quicker at giving information than them. :p

    • Ivanx360xpira

      many thanks!

    • ryder4life22187

Good post saw nothing on the dash about it and sure enough checked each game on demand and those were the prices.

      • Pete Osborne

Yeah, MS tend to be a little late on the first day with announcing so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to extend the first day like they did with the last sale. I should add that Perfect Dark Zero wasn’t reduced for me and Bulletstorm has supposedly been un-reduced but was still showing. Glad I could help!

        • ryder4life22187

Perfect Dark Zero showed 2.99 for me but already got it on disc. Bulletstorm shows 4.99 for me still. My buddy has been wanting AC3 for awhile and 15 bucks is his language.

    • James W

Ok does anybody know if this is a one day only sale? It could be a two day sale for each group of games seeing as it’s supposed to be a week long sale. I counted 32 games on the preview list and today they put those 11 up. I’m waiting on Borderlands 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and maybe Crysis 3.

      • Pete Osborne

Yeah I was wondering the same, I doubt we’ll know til the official word is out. If I had to guess, from the the last GoD sale at least, the cheapest games will be for the duration of the sale and the upper end will be daily offers. I know it’s not the most helpful answer but unfortunately MS doesn’t make it easy for us :P

    • Brian David K. Lake

To be honest those are hugely old. Not many are even good.

  • crazeeavery

You won’t to make a point don’t be sarcastic just don’t download it. Or do what I did. I canseld my Xbox live sold my Xbox and games. Then tock the money got a ps3 PS+ for good free games then but the rest on a ps4 reservation

    • nicholas laney

      Enjoy BF3!

  • Bryan2Blazed

A promotion on crack is more like it.

  • Dwight Power

Yeah, it would be sweet if they hadn’t made it look like people were getting AC2 or Halo 3.

And it would be sweet if Sony wasn’t giving away Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting on PS+.

  • JaeeTV

f**k that free s**t. seeing as we have to constantly pay to renew our xbl membership.. the leaSt they can do is give a a good game. not one that belongs on the Gameboy.

    • Dwight Power

Hey man show the Gameboy some respect.

      • JaeeTV

nah the gameboy was awesome. but that was a long time ago.

    • BigPattyG

Exactly. It’s a membership perk, not something that’s really being given away for “free.”

  • nicholas laney

Wow and PS Plus just got BF3 today. Sony you are just one uppers non stop!

    • StrikeSudden

Not sure if Microsoft can stop the ripple effect at this point. Customers are so mad that they are willing to give up their digital media rights that they have paid for to switch. Well not sure what to expect. Even Microsoft employees do not choose bing. They choose google with google plus video chat.

    • Costas

This is how I see it.
Both companies have to invest a certain budget for advertisements etc.
While MS went the traditional way (TV ads, TV shows), some masterminds in Sony had the idea to invest all that money on devs and publishers to let their games for free on PS+.
I don’t know if this will work, or works(profit-wise) for sony , but I truly hope it does, because it will mean more freebies for consumers in general

      • usrev

the difference is instead of pocketing the money like MS with XBL gold Sony has taken a good chunk of the money and convinced game publishers to let their games go for free. MS basically pockets every $ they make from XBL gold and we will never see it come back to us in any way, hell we still have annoying advertisments on the dashboard.

        • Xhawk27

Until PSN is as good as XBL I would be quite.

          • Ed

I can’t imagine the PS4 won’t have cross game chat.

          • Dylan

            It does. Confirmed.

          • Ed

            Cool.

          • Ed

            You would be quite what?

  • StrikeSudden

Yup enjoyed when I paid for it. Along with buying AC2 and Halo 3. So no reward for paying customers no other selections. This is becoming more than about a game and more on how Xbox live customers feel about their treatment. When you keep piling it on there is a breaking point.

  • JaeeTV

everyone will play this for 20 minutes then go back to playing fable 3

    • Jun284

like that dumb sensation going on, “Mount your friends”? lmfao.

I’m slightly intrigued, but that don’t mean nothin….

    • Phil Balliet

Wait till ps4 is flooded with indie games you’ll never play.

      • nicholas laney

Play Journey? Game of the year. Amazing indie title. Support Indies they are the future for fresh IP ideas.

        • Xhawk27

          Journey isn’t free.

          • Ed

            Who said it was?

          • nicholas laney

Correct. Didn’t say it was. Just supporting Indies in general.

      • JaeeTV

im sure they will be better than defense grid though.

      • Dylan

        Just like the PS3?

        Oh wait…

    • Bennijin

Odd considering how it’s nothing like them.

  • fastharryDOTcom

does anyone have to create a profile when they click on the game?…For some reason I don’t have an option to sign in with my profile hotmail email…and now must create a profile using an outlook profile…

      • Brian David K. Lake

10 years for myself. I pay for servers that work and they do. Everything else is gravy.

    • James W

I mean seriously! 20 ms points? The hell am I gonna do with that? You can’t even rent a movie on XBL for under $5 anymore! Maybe an old one but regardless you have to pay more to download it in HD! It’s the little things about XBL that piss me off the most.

    • Ross

Think positive guys…. After 4 years you will have a big whopping 100 ms points!

      • ArnaldoDK

        Hahahahahahaha, nice one!!!

  • JaeeTV

everybody lets just pretend like Spartacus legends was the free game they released and all be happy. lmao.

  • ze_fuhrer

YES!!!!!! DEFENSE GRID I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE THAT THAN BATTLEFIELD 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!……………..was that believable?

    • Costas

based on your previous comments and your profile pic I ‘d say yes,you sound stupid enough to say this

    • Brian David K. Lake

I already have BF3. But not Grid.

      • ze_fuhrer

im sure most people are in your situation

        • Brian David K. Lake

          I’d imagine so.

  • Ed

Maybe next Don Mattrick can give us some Farmville coins before he leaves.

  • Brian

This is actually a great game, Kept me playing and didn’t wanna put my controller down. Now though it isn’t new, it truly is a good time.

    • JaeeTV

      • Brian

Not lying, Just giving my opinion on it.

        • JaeeTV

oh. well shout out to you. don’t see how anyone can call this a “good time”. but different people like different things I guess.

          • Ross

If you don’t like tower defense games then you won’t like this game. But in terms of tower defense games this is the best one I ever played (I have played a lot of them)

          • Ed

            Really? What’s your second favorite?

          • Ross

tower defense for my ipod. lol

    • Stuart Triibal Cullinane

oh yeah super fantastic, hey are you a microsoft employee???? had to ask

      • Brian

hahah, No I’m not a Microsoft employee. I didn’t even think I would enjoy it as much as I did.

        • BigPattyG

But you do understand why people are upset, right?

      • Costas

He liked an XBOX game you didn’t. He MUST be a microsoft employee right?

        • Stuart Triibal Cullinane

Do not forget that microsoft points expire about a year after XB1 comes out, which is essential robbery considering we are losing the money that we already invested in MS. On top of this terrible idea, the fact that Defense Grid is one of the free games for gold is just another slap in the face from MS.

Where did you get this info? I have a stack of 7k that I planned on not using until I really decide if I want to get a One or not, doubtful but thinking about it. So was saving my MS points to carry over to the One.

“However, the funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date.”

There is a valid reason…. Taxes. Since you already paid taxes on MS points when they are converted into currency amounts they have to keep the money separate as promotional funds to avoid paying sales tax again. You could also theoretically owe income taxes if say you bought your points at a discount and you got more money than you bought your points for.

Since the value expires it is considered promotional and wouldn’t be taxed.
