I actually like defense grid, but it’s not like it makes up for my gold sub. which will end in 2014 and probably won’t be renewed until MS shows me they care about gamers.

  • Vonrikke

Callin for a Xbox One boycott

    • BigPattyG

They have until July 16 to drastically change my mind.

      • Brian David K. Lake

People buyconsoles for mainline games. It is ridiculous to base it off the offering of Games For Gold which isn’t an attempt to counter Sony, but to just give some rewards.

  • Ed

Unlike everybody else here I want to thank you Microsoft….for finally convincing me to buy a Playstation Plus membership. You even helped my buy it. I had a $13.99 Amazon gift card all of which I got from Bing Rewards, so I only paid $4 for a 3-month Playstation Plus membership. I instantly added 20 new games (12 PS3 and 8 handheld) to my game library, including 4 AAA PS3 games rated in the 80s and 90s on metacritic.

  • Vonrikke

There is an article on anandtech comparing the technical details of the xbone vs ps4. The xbox’s hardware comes up weak compared to the ps4

    • Vonrikke

id give ya the link but they are censoring any comments with links, anyway if you search anandtech for xbox, the xbone vs ps4 comparison will show up

    • Vonrikke

Basically the xbone GPU does 1.23 TFLOPS and the PS4 does 1.84 graphically

      • fsdfg dsfds

Most tard Ps3 kids think every game runs at 1080p native, i wouldnt even talk stats untill they both out

    • Brian David K. Lake

That same article also says in the end all things considered that they are pretty close. Don’t skew info, instead go read it.

  • Quanicus

PSN is giving us Battlefield 3 this month for free. Just thought I throw that out there!

    • Xhawk27

Does not include the map packs. Also you are renting BF3 you don’t get to keep it like the games on 360. Halo 3 and AC2 will be free sometime later.

      • BigPattyG

You should have led with the rental argument. That’s really the only good point against PSN and for XBLA on this one. “No map packs” is a very weak argument; do you think AC2 or Halo will include any DLC content if/when they are given away?

        • Xhawk27

True but you get to keep those games when your subscription runs out.

          • Ed

BigPattyG said that was a good point already.

          • Xhawk27

Oh yeah I should have not reply back then. On BF3 the best maps are the DLC one’s though.

          • Dwight Power

Nobody is gonna let their PS+ subscription run out. That would be stupid. Who would wanna give up on all those free games every month?

          • Adam Shields

Anyone and everyone who goes to the Next Gen. These purchases stay on these consoles, as stated in most of their EULAs. Assuming there is a magical method to make it happen any other way, no side is talking. I doubt it. Even recent patents on both sides do not aim down the “digital cross over” in any form or fashion. I suspect the main reason PS3 does it is because it knows it requires the PS3 audience for the first year or two. It’s possible Xbox does too but is going about it a less than equal way. I am pretty certain the number of people who say this offering (“Defense Grid”) didn’t jump at the chance to activate their subscriptions, or change their mind on the service. -Adam

          • Dwight Power

I’ve never understood the whole “-Adam” type thing…

If you were using a guest profile that didn’t have your name, and you somehow were well known in whatever forum/site you were posting, then I would understand.

It just seems useless, pointless, pompous and corny.

          • Adam Shields

It’s more of a habit. One I just won’t change. Short form: It is from days of BBS and forums when names weren’t even an option. To be honest, I also find it someone pompous, and I suppose that’s why I continue to do it. A personal joke if you will. On an side note you’ll probably not care too much about, it has actually saved me from a “hacked” account once. Haha. My ex didn’t sign off appropriately. So maybe I still do it for that reason… only that’d be a lie. I do find that there’s an interesting subset of people who would rather remark on the four letter word that is “Adam” rather than the content itself. I also sign emails and letters with it as well…
Also, have we crossed paths? You said you “never understood”? -Adam

          • Brian David K. Lake

PS3 games outside of a few select ones via Gaikai dont work on ps4

          • Adam Shields

You are speaking through a lack of knowledge. Sony has not advertised this yet. Disregarding comments or blatantly making up information isn’t doing you any favors. Of the two companies, ONLY Sony has outlined any plan to provide a backwards solution. While I’m certain this wasn’t a “master plan” to grant good faith to gamers, I do believe it absolutely is something gamers are looking forward to. And assuming you are magically correct (yes, it is possible) they STILL offer “a few select ones” more than Microsoft.
I’m not quite sure you understand how Gakai (or similar services like Onlive) work. It’s the only time where your architecture doesn’t even matter. The ONE THING blocking both consoles from playing backwards compatible games. -Adam

          • Brian David K. Lake

No Adam, I’m actually correct. Confirmed through the first conference and questions after.

          • Adam Shields

I stand partially corrected, but will point out the following: Actually the conference and Q&A only confirmed that there was no immediate BC and that Gaikai was one of two possible solutions for BC (and the only one possible for PS3 BC.) I think the issue here is the wording you used: “few select ones.” This is intending to imply it’s a paltry selection. The problem I have with it is we simply do not know if it’s 1 or 1000 titles. All that has been confirmed is “critically acclaimed” titles will be included in this, which history has shown us is both fan favorites and best sellers. As these titles are the majority of what people complain about not being able to play, I’d say it STILL has an advantage over 360 in the BC category. You’re not getting backwards Halo, Gears, or Forza. I know I’m not going to be enjoying “BK: Nuts and Bolts” on Xbox One, unless it is remade. -Adam

          • Brian David K. Lake

What about when the servers shut off?

        • Ross

nope. Defense grid’s DLC was not offered for free, even though it is on the featured pg. Plus MS doesn’t like giving away more free stuff than it has too.

        • Quanicus

          Exactly!

      • Ed

I’ve played Battlefield 3 for countless hours on the 360 and I never bought a map pack. It’s the best team-based shooter ever made.

        • beardyman3218

Premium was on sale a few weeks ago it’s definitely worth it, adds so much more to the game not to mention more destruction :-)

        • Brian David K. Lake

Yeah disagreeing on your best statement. Full heartedly.

      • Ross

They said it would be free this month at E3… they lied.

        • Xhawk27

Did they said that those are going to be two of the free games when the program starts in July?

          • Dylan

            Here you go

            https://twitter com/xboxkid510/status/351525397868986368/photo/1

          • Ed

In fairness that post was written by some 1st-level tech support guy — I’m guessing in India.

          • Dylan

            True.
They shouldn’t have cancelled their post-E3 interviews with the press.

Then Polygon, OXM, IGN, and Kotaku wouldn’t all be reporting the games arrival in July.

          • Xhawk27

Could have been a mistake. I bet they are saving Halo 3 for November.

          • Ross

I was under the impression that they would offer up several games and let gamers pick which 2 games they wanted. Guess that is too much to expect from Microsoft. Although it makes sense from a business standpoint. Lets offer some free games but offer very popular, older free games so that most gamers who wanted to play these games had already purchased them

          • Brian David K. Lake

That isn’t what they said, so stop being upset they don’t bow to your desires,

          • Ross

Of course its not what they said, hence “under the impression” And of course they don’t bow to my desires Brian. They do not bow to the desires of any of their faithful subscribers. That is why I am pissed, and that is why they are having so many problems with the xbox one release. It takes effort to make a die hard xbox fan consider converting to Playstation. So why don’t you shut up brian

          • Brian David K. Lake

It must also take effort to be completely ignorant to the fact Sony is just as bad if not worse in many ways. That hack they went through a year back? They refused to let anyone know about it for over a month, while accounts were already jeapordized. And that’s just the start. The fact nearly the entire company is in bankruptcy process is another.

Companies aren’t supposed to bow down to anyone other than the law. They are supposed to work for their customers if they want their product to sell yes, but apparently they do that well enough since the Xbox is doing very well.

            Stop being immature.

          • Ross

1st of all. Sony gave me some free games for that issue and the hack never even effected me. They have already given me more free things that Microsoft and I only have a PSP. 2nd of all bowing down simply is a figure of speech for serving. Microsoft is a company that provides a service for their paying customers. And I am going to point out a massive flaw in your argument here so pay attention. I am one of those people who has bought many Microsoft products including an original xbox and two 360s. Yes they have done well with these consoles. BUT they have made some massive mistakes with their new console and policies lately and have taken an incredible amount of heat because if this. If I (A 6 year XBL customer) is considering saying no to supporting Microsoft anymore, you can bet your unintelligent — that others are saying the same thing.

      • Dwight Power

You get to keep it for a year. I believe that is enough for a Battlefield game. Since it has sequels. Same goes for most games.

        • Ed

It’s yours to keep. You just need to have a Playstation Plus membership to play it.

    • Ed

      Yes. Tomorrow. Awesome.

    • Brian David K. Lake

      Thanks? Already own it.

  • Ross

So far I have gotten no free games as I own both games that I have been offered so far, including the meager $10 arcade game. Where is the assassins creed 2 and halo 3 that we were told was going to be released in July. Why don’t you release several free games and let gamers choose which one that they would like instead of pissing off your dedicated gamers that have already purchased all the free games you are offering. Since the announcement of xbox one Microsoft has done its best to convert me to Sony even though I have supported them since the original Xbox. So disappointed…

  • baconcheeswhiz89

this really was a slap in the face microsoft, for being a 8 year straight xbox live member.

    • Xhawk27

They did give you Fable 3 last month.

      • Dylan

I think that was an accident.

There was no press release until a day after the error happened, and then they said it was part of the Games for Gold.

And then they said it wasn’t part of it. So who knows what happened.

        • Ed

They should have more accidents. That was a good one.

          • Ed

Oops, we accidentally included a decent headset in with your Xbox One.

          • Ed

Oops, we accidentally made it so you can disconnect your Kinect 2.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Well there goes the potential for high quality Kinect games.

          • Dylan

            Yes it was!

Oops we accidentally included a compatible Xbox One controller with your PS4

        • Bennijin

I think Fable 3 was an accident.

  • Ghostextechnica

If I wanted to play a tower defense game I would download one of the million free TD games from my smartphone’s app store (whatever OS you use).

    Extremely disappointing.

  • http://www.trueachievements.com/xXIzaHovaXx.htm TheRealDeal

Whahhh!!! They didn’t give me the free stuff I wanted!! WhahhH! GTF over it people.

    • Dwight Power

I think it’s more like “Whaaahhh PS+ is giving out Battlefield 3, Saints Row 3, Uncharted 3, Deus Ex, Xcom and Little Big Planet Karting Whaahhh!”

It’s not so much that they are complaining about getting something they didn’t want, more like it looks even more like cr@p now that they compare it to the competition.

      • usrev

it’s not whining, it’s more like, wow who could support MS when the competition is so much better. if there was a resteraunt and another opened next door and gave out better food at better prices you would switch in a heartbeat, it’s similar with gaming.

        • Dwight Power

Not exactly. People have invested too much into franchises like Halo, Gears and Forza. It’s hard to let go of that.

BUT, if it does happen, this is the way.

          MS is making it easier.

I know it would be hard to turn my back on LBP, Infamous and Uncharted.

But I also believe the Sony exclusives have more soul and the characters are more lovable, but that is just a personal opinion.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Uncharted had terrible gunplay and was highly repetitive. LPB? Hello Project spark. And infamous was repetitive and a average game at best. There are not many good first party games for Sony sadly.

        • Brian David K. Lake

Not if thast restaurant had terrible and slow service, and they do.

          They also have old food.

      • Brian David K. Lake

Those are all old games most gamers already played or own. Good for casual gamers but that’s about it.

    • Ed

I’m over it. I’m also over on the Playstation Network.

      • Jay

Me too! I just bought a subscription to PS Plus today.

        • usrev

PSN+ problems, to many free games I don’t have a big enough hard drive, but wait you can replace that Hard drive with any 2.5in laptop drive, so yipee 1TB hard drive for $65! how much is a 250gb on xbox again? $100? lol.

      • nicholas laney

        Welcome. Add me nick_or_dawood

      • Brian David K. Lake

        Enjoy the terrible servers.

        • Ed

I’ve never had a problem with multiplayer on either console.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Well you should go on the Sony forums some time.

          • Ed

I just did. I don’t see what you’re talking about.

          • Brian David K. Lake

The Sony Forums have always been rife with comments about the constant downloads, the slow bandwidth allowance, and the problems with their servers.

          • Ed

Well I don’t see too many complaints currently. I see way more complaints on the Xbox forums.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Well you’ve missed 7 years of forums then. As for the Xbox forums, complaints have always been quite low. The Xbox One thing is just more vocal minority bitching. Ugh it’s New Coke all over again, except Microsoft isn’t trying.

          • Dylan

Mmmhm Microsoft thought it was the vocal minority too.
That’s why they were defending the DRM to the death.

Then they saw the pre-order numbers…
            YEP, their tune changed quickly.

            Vocal minority? Not so much.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Do you ever do research before posting? It was a vocal minority, just like ME3s ending, just like New Coke, just like the Anti-Gay scandal, and just like the other precedents. A company will often buy in the pressure of a vocal minority because they can complain loudly and will get picked up by media. Depending on how much the media skews data or represents the vocal minority, that can make a big impact, and the majority may just go along with it because “Everyone seems to be complaining so why shouldn’t I” mentality.

It was a vocal minority, pre orders weren’t superb, but they were comparable.

          • Dylan

Then explain to me why they were defending everything, claiming that no way is anything going to change, and basically saying “GO AWAY” to anyone who didn’t like it.

Microsoft couldn’t care less about the outcry. They were riding the storm.

Then suddenly a week or 2 after pre-orders go live…BOOM.
            Change everything.

You saying that’s coincidence due to social media outcry?
            Really?

The outcry had been going on for MONTHS. And they still kept on going with the “nothing is changing”.

Their change had nothing to do with that.
Had EVERYTHING to do with pre-orders.

Then BAM, pre-orders blow up when the DRM is removed.
            Vocal minority…very funny.

            The PS conference changed everything.

          • Brian David K. Lake

            1. To be honest, Microsoft hasn’t actually given much input on anything. They haven’t really put out much of a defense because their policy is generally not to comment on such things. What they have put out is basic for any company, support of its product via reiteration.

Microsoft was ignoring the minority because they knew it was a minority.

Why don’t you think what else happened 2 weeks after? A few well known media correspondents started talking about the Xbox One in the way the vocal minority had been ranting (because that’s all he had heard and he had no counter information). Prior to those TV show hosts which reach a portion of casual gamers that hadn’t seen the vocal minority rage, the gamer journalism media by large majority showed a lack of integrity in their reporting by insulting the Xbox One and making fun of it with juvenile comments without actually looking into the features for people interested, or using their brains when considering the pros and cons of it, or the cons of the PS4 in retrospect.

Social media? No not social media. The REAL media. When it gets on TV it becomes big. That’s what it took for New Coke and ME3, and that’s what it took here too. There is an established precedent for this.

            Months? Not exactly true.

It might of touched on pre orders not being as high as they’d like from hard core gamers, but it was in no way the central reason. The casual gamers would not be doing preorders in the first place so there was no way to judge true sales without that data which will happen in Nov and Dec.

The conference merely showed that people were looking for a scapegoat in regards to the media. People already had stipulations about things and were reserved about DRM due to poor understanding, paranoia, and illogical basis in regards to it. Furthermore, the conference showed that Sony was going to be subtle, lie about a few things, and not focus on the things of importance or show any innovation. To many that sealed the deal they can’t be trusted.

          • Dylan

            Oh and research?
            Are these numbers comparable?

They were losing 5:3 in their OWN market.

That market you so declared as “THE important market”.
And they were losing it. BIGTIME.

Imagine what the worldwide numbers were.

            http://www vgchartz com/article/251076/ps4-vs-xbox-one-pre-order-totals-to-june-15th-2013/

          • Brian David K. Lake

Again, you’re skewing data. Let’s be factual, and not just post things we see but don’t understand.

First, every day the Xbox One has been the highest in daily preorder count on Amazon. For the 2013 year it’s been in the top 10. Microsoft due to production focuses allotted far less Xbox One’s to be allowed preorders than Sony did. This means that the issue was more along the lines of preorders being at 20 and 14 because there were no more allotments. Based on Sony’s manufacturing capability and their financial woes, it is feasibly impossible for them to provide that many numbers without building more factories, of which they aren’t doing. Many preorders will be rescinded as they were for overdoses in prior console generations.

So for the market they view as important for launch and primary focus, they were doing good. Yes the Sony PlayStation 4 had 3 SKU’s in the top 10 (though the splitting of SKU’s is difficult to base off of because it does not provide easy access to rank without counting and without the numbers this is impossible, it can be assumed to have been in 2nd or 3rd place, possibly in first in pre orders at some locations) for a while, now I believe it is 2.

Media can do a lot of damage. The VGChartz site, like it normally does, can not make accurate representations with so much information missing. No one save Microsoft knows for sure.

          • Dylan

All that and it boils down to, “Only Microsoft Knows”.

Well you are right, they did nothing for months, and they knew what was happening after pre-orders went live, and did a complete 180.
It isn’t hard to fill in the blanks.

          • Brian David K. Lake

            This is all untrue.

They did many things, and it wasn’t “for months” that the minority outrage was going on. Exaggeration and intentional misrepresentation on your part. I have to downvote you for such blatant lying. As for the “180″ which is ridiculous to call it, the lobotomy of features occurred due to outcry via a media source that picked up vocal minority complaints. There is an established precedent that this happens and it is exactly in the same line as other experiences. Yes you COULD fill in the blanks, as you’ve done, except they’re false because you’ve continually used false information, skewed information, and lies.

          • Ed

Is it new coke or kool aid that you’re drinking? Are you actually saying that complaints on the Xbox forums were low in the Red Ring of Death era? Come on. You appear to be completely biased towards the Xbox and against the Playstation. There’s really no point in continuing to spam this page. We got it. You blindly (blandly?) love Xbox.

          • Brian David K. Lake

When the warranty was extended, the complaints dropped by majority, yes. Even during that period.

I’m not against the Playstation. I bought one. I bought the PS2 and PS1 too. I don’t like their way of operating or their selection of quality control, or the plague of issues all their games seem to have when it comes to AI programming, but I do like a few of their games and respect it. I prefer American companies, but if something’s good, I’ve been known to make exceptions.

I don’t love Xbox. I just prefer people use facts.

I don’t drink soda, and the last Kool Aid I drank was the Invisible Kiwi a few years ago.

          • Ed

AI programming? What are you talking about? I’m not sure if you know what AI means.

Regardless, you said that “complaints have always been quite low” on the Xbox Forums. Now you implicitly admit that the complaints were high before the warranties were extended. Even then, the complaints persisted because nobody wants their xbox to break and to have to mail it off somewhere and wait for it to come back. They’d rather it just keep working like the PS3 was doing. I agree with you that people should use facts. Try it.

          • Brian David K. Lake

AI means Artificial Intelligence. The AI in nearly every first party of Sony is of an atrocious type with a plague affecting their programming. Incidentally this does impact the rest of the game.

When the Xbox forums first encountered the Red Ring thing there wasn’t much complaining so much as asking for help or polling. Things were dealt with quickly. Could exceptions have existed that I didn’t see? Of course, but when Sony got hacked their entire forum was riddled with threats of lawsuits and numerous other issues. So you’re nit picking because you have no counter point.

          • Ed

Well, your complaint about Sony AI is so random. Bad AI is an issue that affects most games that employ it. I don’t think Sony has a monopoly on bad AI. AI is hard and there are very few examples of AI being done well, Deep Blue for example.

If you actually think that there wasn’t much complaining about the Red Ring of Death, you’ve really lost it.

          • Brian David K. Lake

I’ve never encountered a single first party PS3 game without terrible AI programming. I have seen poor programming on the Xbox first party titles, but not on every single one. This is a clear indication of some very poor quality control and QA.

I never said people didn’t complain, they did, but the main source wasn’t on the Xbox Forums in any capacity.

          • Dylan

The Last of Us has great A.I.

With the companion, and the enemies. The enemies do some really neat things, and are not stupid in anyway.

          • Brian David K. Lake

If you had proven to be a reputable source of information I might believe you or pay you greater heed instead of the many that are complaining about the atrocious AI that does atrocious things, especially for teammates. It even become a running joke on some webcomics.

          • Dylan

Only because the game is popular. Find a game that doesn’t have glitches.

It isn’t on a Skyrim type level.

    • Ed

It’s not free. You have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to get it.

      • Brian David K. Lake

And most do for the great server access. It is a thank you for gold members.

    • KillerRamen

Eh, it’s fine. Playstation Plus just happens to be better and I can’t wait to get Battlefield 3 tomorrow! XD

      • iCustom

Ehh, not so great for people that already have it.

        • Dylan

Then there are the other 15 games they give every month

          • iCustom

I saw only 3 for this month.

          • Dylan

XCom, Uncharted 3 SP, Saints Row 3, Machinarium, The Cave, Deus Ex, and a few others are available right now.

          • Brian David K. Lake

I already have those, I bought them to support the developers. They were all average last best outside of Deus. But, that was several years ago. Plus offers me nothing sadly.

  • Ghostextechnica

MS this would be fine if Sony wasn’t giving out triple A titles like candy.

I want to be proud of my Xbox fanboyism. Not embarrassed that I’m backing the team that is getting screwed in comparison.

    • Adam Shields

Admit it, you don’t want to be the one who walks out in the last few minutes for your team to make a comeback either? Or was that just the Miami “Heat fans?” I feel you. The worst gift you could be granted here is “hope,” yet that is all it feels they are delivering. -Adam

      • Ghostextechnica

        Exactly!

I’m hoping they come out with a new free triple-A game tomorrow and say something like “sorry we let you down guys, we listened and here you go.”

    • Brian David K. Lake

Triple A titles that I’ve already played three years ago. Not that interesting.

  • Animal75

Shameful ive been with Microsoft and Sony since day one.. Original Xbox and ps1 its sad to say with the next gen im leaning towards PlayStation exclusively. I can’t keep throwing money away to a company that really could care less about the players. Lies and misleading statements after all these years. There really is no reason for the way the fan base is treated by MS the only explanation for it is GREED !!!! I’ll hang on to my 360 as long as it survives !!! Major you may want to think of a job switch to PlayStation.. This really wont have a happy ending for xbox in years to come !!

    • Ed

      Xbox will survive…in third place.

      • Animal75

Oh absolutely Ed Im not saying there going out of business lol.. Im just saying this will drastically hurt there bottom line… I cant imaging as a small business owner treating my customers the way MS has done. As a small business i would be out of BUSINESS!! MS has the bank roll and resources to weather this…. Its still no way to treat the people that help pay the salary of MS employees and executives !!

      • Bennijin

They already are. Leading in the US and UK and NOWHERE ELSE.

        • Brian David K. Lake

          You mean the important markets?

          • Dylan

Pretty stupid comment. If those were “THE” important markets, then Xbox 360 would be leading in Worldwide sales.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Not necessarily. Those are the important markets for Microsoft, and they make them a lot of money. Sony prefers to focus on the East and they do that well, that’s what’s important to them. Sure they’d like each others market, but the truth is they don’t often really make a dint in the others side.

    • Brian David K. Lake

Name one actual confirmed lie. They never lied.

  • Stuart Triibal Cullinane

<——— wants to know when a official statement will be released on this tragic and horrible free games with gold release ??? PLAYSTATION kicking but, i'd prefer microsoft win the battle but if the other releases are gunna be of the same quality i can't see it happening ——- not that microsoft gives two tugs

  • Draken Stark

As awesome as Defense Grid is, weren’t we supposed to get Halo 3 and Assassins Creed 2 this month?

    • Brian David K. Lake

      Nope.

  • Jonathan Pedroza

Today I read this page’s comments. I don’t know what I expected. Also, I’m downloading the game, it looks great :)

  • Damion

Defence Grid is great game. But after reading about all the FREE games on the PSN I feel a bit ripped off paying for XBOX LIVE for years and years. Something isn’t right here, look at the list of free games PSN has offered Larry. I am a Xbox fan but PSN really treats the subscriber well It seems.

    • Dwight Power

It goes beyond PS+ though man. Sony is about making money as much as MS is, but they just do it in such different ways. It reflects in everything man, from the little things to the games.

Sony games just seem to have more soul. While Halo, Forza and Gears are great, they are soulless to me. Even Master Chief’s story, although intriguing, is still faceless.

Games like Journey, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Papo & Yo, Flower, The Puppeteer, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, Gravity Rush, Fat Princess, Tearaway and games like that make it stand out for me.

We also have our soulless shooters like Killzone, Resistance (except for three, that one had soul), and Starhawk. But we have the other side as well.

      • Brian David K. Lake

Shooters have soul, but the shooter first party games of Sony have been atrocious. I find nearly all their exclusives to have terrible writing and atrocious AI.

    • JaeeTV

that’s what I’ve been thinking all day. as Xbox live subscribers the fact that we constantly spend money and in return get complete garbage baffles me. while PlayStation+ subscribers actually get their moneys worth and when they ask for something they aren’t ignored like a tool . and they really don’t have to spend that much money anyway. I’ve had an Xbox ever since halo 1. but now I feel like they just want more money and couldn’t care less what we want. im so done with Microsoft and Xbox. the PlayStation 4 seems like the better but anyway. goodbye Xbox. it was fun while it lasted.

      • No Forced Kinect

plus u don’t a camera always plugged in on the Ps4 just so the damn machine even works…i mean seriously? you have to use Kinect on x1 to chat.

who the hell wants to do that? tons of little kids are going to be talking none stop yelling, xbox off while your playing multi-player an it’s going to get so frustrating.

        Ms let us unplug KINECT!!!!
not to mention that if your kinect stops working, you just bought a $500 plus tax…useless machine

        • JaeeTV

all for more money. they are basically forcing you to buy something that should be optional to buy.

          • JaeeTV

hell why not throw in a pair of turtle beaches to make you buy. smh

        • iCustom

If you use Kinect to chat? Really you don’t have even $20 to buy a mic. If a kid is screaming using Kinect when you are in a lobby just mute him or them. Hard? NO.

Kinect has voice recognition idiot. Your Xbox is not going to turn off just because a kid is yelling while playing muliplayer, not even a kid that is right next to you could do that.

Kinect is damaged within the first 2 years? Get it replaced same day. After 2 years? Call Microsoft get it replace with in a week.

And you can turn off the Kinect. :)

      • Geo

Microsoft does not care for its customers the way Sony does.

        • InfernoShade

Don’t make me laugh. Neither company “cares” about you. It’s business. They offer different services, which you can like or dislike. Just shows how brainwashed people become.

    • Brian David K. Lake

PSPlus only seems to offer games you’ve already played two or three years ago. There isn’t ever a time other than for indies I don’t care for, that plus is useful to me.

BF3 was popular, you probably already bought it. Uncharted 3 was worth a rental, and you likely did that too. Saints Row 3 is a gas me pandering to immaturity, and you probably already played it if you liked the series.

Yes PSPlus has offers, but not of anything an active gamer would want. Their bandwidth and servers are also still abysmal. That’s the only reason people past for Live. They have great servers.

  • Dwight Power

Why would you want to quit PS+?

    A few reasons…

You don’t have $5 a month, and if that is so, you probably have more problems than gaming.

    You stopped gaming.

    You’re crazy.

The funny part is most people who point that out, are the same ones who have had an Xbox Live for 5 years straight.

You also fail to mention that as long as you queue up the game ONCE, not even download it, it is yours forever if you decide to re-subscribe.

So there is no argument there man. Plus most games are made to be played just once. I know some people replay games over and over, but they are the minority. As it is, I don’t have time to play the massive amount of games PS+ has given me.

So I’m not worried about not being able to replay any games. If I want to replay a game more than a year, I will buy it.

So if you’re planning to play Defense Grid and AC2 for years to come on your Xbox 360 and ignore the Xbone and PS4, then right on. Go ahead and play it for as long as your heart is content, it is your forever now.

    • iCustom

You don’t have to write a testament of something I already know. People like to keep games forever so they can comeback anytime and play it. Just like people that still have Super Nintendo or Playstation 2 and still use it. My point about Playstation Plus is that back in the days, as you most know, Playstation fans use to say that Xbox fans are idiots because we are paying for Xbox live. Now that PS fans are going to pay suddenly they change their minds and “$5 is nothing”. It is true that $5 is nothing but in MY PERSONAL OPINION PS+ for PS3 is unnecessary, Why? because you don’t need it to play online, most of the games they offered I already played them and the others games that they offered that I haven’t played I didn’t have any interest in them. I feel that the Xbox Live subscription was worth it, more security, better servers, better arcades and companies partnership to make exclusives.

      • Dwight Power

You only recycle comments from back in 2008 dude.

It’s not that old free service anymore. You have probably never touched a PS3.

The people who go back and play SNES is about 1% of gamers.

And if they do, they don’t go back and play some sh@tty game or games like AC2 that by then will have about 15 sequels.

AC2 is not something that stays in the hearts of gamers for years and years to come.

PLUS if you really need to revisit these games 10 years from now, you can probably get them for $2. The same way you can get PS1 games for that price.

I would rather enjoy those games now then worry about if I want to play AC2 10 years from now.

        • iCustom

I personally own a PS3 and still prefer Xbox Live. Just because you think PSN is better and I think Xbox Live is better it doesn’t mean I haven’t touch a PS3 or you haven’t touch an Xbox. It just means that we stay with what we like. 10 years from now I could play Halo 3. But I don’t think that games like Halo 3 will be $2 in 10 years from now. Last year, I try to purchase a game I miss so much from Nintendo 64 and is called NBA In the Zone 99. That game is 14 years old and is $25 for one in working condition. But you are talking of AC2, I am not talking about that game. I am not saying I don’t like AC2 but like you said is not a game that stays so long on a gamer heart but Halo 3 is.

  • Sneltje

    Hi Major Nelson,
Still it does not work here in Europe no option to select Defense Grid via the forum it jumps over to Fable III. When I manually search for Defense Grid it says 800 MSP.
Are there more with this issue?

    • beardyman3218

Should be working now i downloaded it an hour ago.

    • Geo

Larry still needs to “Flip the Switch” to make it 0 MSP.

  • Alfie Fiestar

Up your game ms. More free recent games to save your fan base from this month’s disappointing games for gold. Sonys attitude towards rewarding it’s consumers is directly affecting my affections towards ms.

    • Brian David K. Lake

This is ridiculous. Consoles are bought for mainstream games. The 360 had the best titles surprisingly. The 360 was a success. Live does not and should not decide whether you stay or not, nor should a time they offer free things that aren’t what you want. They aren’t trying to compete with PSPlus, and they don’t need to. Their servers remain the best.

      • Alfie Fiestar

I guess it’s down to perspective. If they are not competing to gain marketshare, then what are they doing? If one console dominates a big chunk of a marketshare ….which I hope that don’t happen, the one with less of a user base may not get some games from 3rd party developers. It’s just a concern, as a gamer.

        • Brian David K. Lake

Basically, the West likes the Xbox. East likes PlayStation. Xbox has the best shooters and I argue RPG’s this gen. Sony has the better independent games and adventures.

          • ze_fuhrer

            rpg’s????

          • Brian David K. Lake

            Roleplay Games.

Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect 1 (and 2 was exclusive for quite some time), Tales of Vesperia (still only on Xbox in America), and a few other niche one’s were all big blockbusters.

          • ze_fuhrer

so 2 non exclusives and one any ps3 user can pick up considering the system is region free?

          • Brian David K. Lake

Uh you seem to be misrepresenting things. You have this issue.

Tales of Vesperia isn’t available in America. If you want to try to read Japanese be my guest, but that’s not the same thing. Lost Odyssey is an exclusive and a great one. Mass Effect 1 was an exclusive for 6 years, and 2 for a year or so as well.

There were also 12 other exclusives just in the RPG / Adventure mix.

          • ze_fuhrer

oh you mean xbox 360 USED TO have the best rpgs, outside of lost odyssey everything was ported to ps3 and tales stopped making games for xbox and their next games came to ps3 or wii

          • Brian David K. Lake

I see you are making misrepresentations again. This is a sickness for you isn’t it?

Do those games still work? They do? Well then they STILL are the best rpgs. And no, only a very select amount of RPG’s were ported to PS3, the majority of Xbox exclusives or Microsoft exclusives have not been. Tales of Vesperia was the last game for the Xbox from the brand yes, but the PS3 still can’t play it unless you’re going to advocate we all learn Japanese. Tales of Grace did come to the PS3 and Wii yes, but it wasn’t actually a very good game to be honest, so you’re still not really putting any basis on things.

          • ze_fuhrer

tales of graces, and xilla 1 and 2, and japanese isnt really that hard to learn

          • Brian David K. Lake

One isn’t out yet, that comes out later this year. Tales of Grace wasn’t very good and I already mentioned that. And your last comment is just ridiculous.

          • ze_fuhrer

lol just because anime didnt teach you how to speak japanese doesnt mean its a hard language to learn, the only hard part of written japanese is kanji, and context clues could tell you what the sentence says

  • Geo

Is this the best MS can give their loyal gold subscribers, poor show from MS, but thats to be expected. PS+ subscribers are getting Battlefield 3, Uncharted 3, Saints Row 3 and MS give this garbage away. Well at least Don Mattrick has left so thats one bit of good news for Xbox Gamers.

    • Brian David K. Lake

Wake me when they give a good game away permanently rather than via rental. Hell let me know when a game I haven’t already played is being offered. People don’t seem to realize that’s all PSPlus does.

  • Andrés

    Sh*t with Gold.

  • Vaughn Whiskey

I have been a loyal Xbox user since 2001 but this kick in the face has crippled my love of the console I trusted. with Sony giving BF3, Saints Row The Third and others while we get this single player tower defense discount bin game. I feel betrayed. I am starting to sway the direction of PS4 this up and coming year for next gen and I never thought that would happen.

Thanks for the good times I guess tho.

    • Brian David K. Lake

If a free thank you makes you upset, then perhaps gaming is too serious a hobby for you. Game consoles are for games, and both consoles look to have good titles. But as for Plus? It’s just icing, not enough to make me dedicate myself to an unamerican company.

      • Car

An unamerican company that is treating it’s costumers well and isn’t greedy as ever? I will take that unamerican company any day of the week. The console was made in China regardless, and run by a bunch of rich snobs.

        • Brian David K. Lake

          Sony is far more greedy.

        • Brian David K. Lake

Immaterial. You are blind to Sony’s greed, but it’s apparent as ever.

  • beardyman3218

As a long time xbox fan i gotta say while i still think xbox live itself is a better service than psn there is no denying ps+ offers more than gold, Larry if your reading these comments please speak to the xbox live team, just compare what games ps+ has offered in the last 6 months to what gold has offered, it’s not good enough anymore, the price point was fine 5 years ago when live was ahead of it’s time, either gold subscription price should be lowered or we get games like ps+. if sony can make these deal why can’t you, there is no excuse for this anymore, you keep claiming your doing great things with xbox (not larry in particular) but your not doing nearly enough as what sony currently are. all your charging for now is online play and access to apps i should be able to access anyway. live is falling behind and its a sad thing to see and even sadder to admit, please larry if your reading this please talk to the live team and sales team.

    • beardyman3218

Just to add a few weeks ago we got a gold deal which saw the cave at 600ms points this month on ps+ its free how does this even happen?

      • Dylan

Microsoft doesn’t like giving free updates, let alone games.

Companies like Double Fine aren’t fans of the Microsoft’s policies, which is why the independents are surging onto the Playstation platform.
And because of their freedom, they’re more inclined to allow big sales or offer their game for free.

Xbox One will not have unique games like Fez or Braid because of this.

        • Brian David K. Lake

Unique games don’t only come from indies. I actually hate indie games to be honest.

        • Marcus W.

You do know that M$ has removed their “Title Updates cost money” a while ago?

          • Dylan

            No they didn’t.

Major Nelson said they would eventually on Xbox 360.

          • Marcus W.

“FYI for those asking: Microsoft eliminated fees for Title Updates on Xbox 360 Arcade games in April 2013″ – Major Nelson’s twitter.

            You were saying?

          • Dylan

Only for Xbox 360 Arcade games.

Whoop de doo. Looks like it continues to nextgen

          • Marcus W.

Stop jumping the gun. Wait and then talk.

          • InfernoShade

So wow, there’s the actual proof and you can’t even concede anything, or is “Whoop de doo” a translation for sorry, I was such a hater, even when faced with facts. Man I’m sick of the mindless hate.

          • Dylan

            Mindless hate?

            Get real.

Its cool that Fez can finally get an update. The policy was absurd from the first place.

It only affects arcade games, and in the final years of the console. So yes, “Whoop de doo”. I’ll give major props and be happy if they don’t charge for updates in next gen.

I don’t see where there should be praise. This was a money grabbing tactic, from the developers that need it.

        • InfernoShade

          Not really true.

For devs the first update (or two?) was free in the past. But they changed that some months ago.

Also they have given a number of free games to gold members over the years. I got games like Carcassone, Ageis Wing, Undertow and others as free promotions. Sure there’s not a lot but there have been a bunch.

          • Dylan

Do you have a press release saying that?

It isn’t gone. Only eventually on Xbox 360, I’ve seen no one but Nelson from Microsoft say anything about it.

          • InfernoShade

I read it on another game or tech site. I’ll see if I can find it.

But you missed my other point: MS has given away games a number of times before.

          • InfernoShade

Do I have a press release?! WTF, do I work for MS or are am I your personal secretary? :) I’m just telling you read in an article. You can use google just as much as I can.

          • Dylan

You’re on a website that gives out press releases regularly…

All I found was that it was removed only for 360 arcade games. It seems it might be back for Xbox One

          • InfernoShade

Umm, wtf again? :) You just say you found it! We’re talking about arcade games and independents. So yeah, they no longer get charged for updates. So now we on the same page?

Also you missed the other point again. MS does and have given away games for free!

            Thank you and good night.

  • safdf

If someone still finds the 800MSP mark, click on it, it will say free in the confirmation screen, don’t look for a panel at the dashboard. But seriously, do you really want to download this game? You have to be a sucker for free stuff or like tower defense games.
Please, please, PLEASE, stop saying PS+ is giving this, is giving that, they are not, you get free rentals, once it’s delisted or you subscription isn’t renewed, it’s game over for you. As crappy or unwanted this game is, you still get to keep it as long as your account or console work, no gold mandatory to play after this.
Nonetheless, I won’t get this game. Make a better choice next time MS, drop in the DLC too.

    • Brian David K. Lake

It’s not a bad game lol.

      • safdf

I can’t tell if is or isn’t, but like most gamers, I don’t like this genre. They should have put something everybody likes.

        • Brian David K. Lake

Except most gamers on the Xbox are casual, they make up 90% of the 50 million. So most do like these types of games. We are a minority.

          • safdf

Is this genre for the casual? I thought it consumed a lot of time. Ain’t casual games easy to pick up and leave and pick up again anytime?

          • Brian David K. Lake

            Sounds exactly like this game.

    • Alfie Fiestar

Agree… Wonder if they could make a few choice available bit each gold acct only able to choose one.

  • Brian David K. Lake

Uh… They didn’t promise anything other than to include those games over the next months.

    • Cyprian Czerwiński

they didn’t. Just every one else. Including game press ‘re morons.

      • Brian David K. Lake

The media has been lying, skewing, and showing lack of journalistic integrity against the One since day 1. The community of hardcore gamers on those sites has shown paranoia, immaturity and irrationality. Neither side has my confidence.

I buy consoles for mainline games. And I have those and will continue to.

        • Dennis Opdam

lol u guys havent seen the E3 media briefing then. MS spokemen said himself next month would have been AC2 and Halo3.

          • Cyprian Czerwiński

plots , everything plots and bad will of sony, gamers, dark wizards, who knows…

          • Brian David K. Lake

Wrong. He said they were a few titles that’d be given in the game for gold program.

  • johnabraham

    1. We’ve never met
    2. It’s less about the price and more about the principle

  • Mark Capell-helm

just looked at steam hahaha £6.99 gets you this “free” game and the borderlands DLC included so if you take of the monthly fee for gold which is the better deal huyh

    • Brian David K. Lake

Completely depends on whether you’d have gold regardless due to mp.

  • Paul Gbel

You might get something now the head of the doomed xbox one has gone just to keep you from turning Sony like me muhahah

  • PEPE Z0MBIE 666

    Everybody complained..everybody downloaded…
    That’s the hater logic..

  • Chango Ortiz

I was trying to explain that yesterday.. but they keep deleting my posts… We’re gonna have AC2 and Halo3…just need to wait… :) I just hope they remove the region restrictions…

  • safdf

Get the trial, don’t “buy for free” the whole thing. Buy it and you’ll tell MS, “I want more like this”

    • Brian David K. Lake

      That literally makes no sense.

  • Chango Ortiz

Can anyone tell me if Xbox still have region restrictions?… I’m gonna move to another country and there is no support for the free downloads there… thanks

    • safdf

It depends, about disc games, NTSC, NTSC/J and PAL can’t be used in a non-compliant console unless the publisher made it region-free. About XBLA, restrictions of use may vary. I think you can’t use some free games where they are not available, You’ll have to ask XBOX Support for every particular case. Offers are usually worldwide.

      • Chango Ortiz

Well I’ll have to test it… because I did a quick test with fable and I wasn’t able to download it from another country… now… It seems that the removed the region restriction…

  • safdf

I’ve got a proposal for MS. Give us a Mail address where we can ask for a game we want. Then through our live account, which is the same as the XB360 account, send us a code to download that game we requested. One per Gold account every 15 days.
OK, maybe is to much, but how about a little survey every 2nd and 16th?

    • Chango Ortiz

      That could be great!

  • Dennis Opdam

Thank you for posting this to clearify .

My bad , I removed my post since they said Halo3 and AC2 in the upcomming months*** /facepalm

    • Lezlow

Well I applaud your willingness to accept truth. Now for the other 99% of the internet. :D

  • Joel Ramalho

Because I don’t speak english. Next question..

  • ze_fuhrer

but think about 30 years later when you want to load up B3 for some reason and then get mad because you didn’t wait till the end of the consoles life cycle and couldve bought it for 2 dollars

    • RedBulik

You mean when I’ll be playing it on my Xbox Sixty Nine emulator?

    • Brian David K. Lake

That wouldn’t happen 30 years from now.

      • ze_fuhrer

then why were you complaining on how you dont own the games for ps+ (even though the service isnt just “renting” games)

        • Brian David K. Lake

I’m not complaining about the games not working 30 years later or about the prices of them. I’m not even complaining. That being said, I see no reason to praise Sony for offering me things I already have.

          • ze_fuhrer

ps+ is for the people who cant/dont want to spend thousands of dollars on games like you can

          • Brian David K. Lake

Then if you’re going to wait 2 and a half years for games to have been out before getting them, why don’t you find a new hobby? You’re not supporting the developers by not actually buying their products.

          • ze_fuhrer

yea sleeping dogs came out 2.5 years ago…….. look i have bills to pay and I cant buy every game on the shelf, hell there are plenty of games on ps+ I wouldnt have known were good if they weren’t on ps+. And if the developers are getting absolutely no support i doubt they would let their games on ps+

  • Xbone180

@xboxkid510 Two games per month, actually! The two games just starts next month with Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2. ^BB

Guess it’s time for everyone to unfollow

    • Xbone180

      Also cancel OXM:

In case you missed it, Microsoft plans to give away two free games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers a month
      – one on the 1st, the second on the 16th – from now till the end of the
year. Lionhead’s Fable 3 inaugurated the giveaway spree, and next
month’s offerings are Assassin’s Creed 2 and Halo 3. Bookmark our free Xbox games hub for more news as it arrives.

  • BigPattyG

Well, your English is about a thousand times better than my Italian, so I can be patient.

  • safdf

I think he was fir…. I mean accepted an offer at Zynga, and gave us a good-bye gift only he could deliver. The people at Zynga must be desperate to file for Chapter 11.

  • Dwight Power

Why would you get rid of PS+?

Unless you stop gaming. How long have you had LIVE?

I’m guessing years, since you’re on this blog.

You also fail to mention, those games stay there as soon as you become a member again, if you so ever need to cancel.

I would much rather play 64 games than play Defense Grid for the rest of my life.

Also, MS is only doing this until the end of the year and you only have a two week window to download them or you don’t ever get them, They sure as hell aren’t planning to do it on the Xbone.

    • safdf

Because you can’t keep up with the bills, you lose your job, sell your PS, you got tired of it, etc, etc. No console is a god that has to be worshiped and had to be offered mandatory tribute. Even some 360 fanboys cancel their autorenewals.
If you are so into PS3, why are you here anyway. This whole goof-up with games with gold is ours, X360 users, you guys seem to try to convert us as if all of this will be religions.

      • Dwight Power

If you can’t afford $5 a month you have bigger problems than gaming my friend. And don’t forget you get all those games back the second you decide to resubscribe so when you’re done with those really hard times that you can’t afford $5, they will be ready to go again.

Put it this way, if you can’t afford $5 a month, you probably shouldn’t be gaming anyway. Since you’re wasting time gaming rather than looking for a job and you’re using up electricity that you don’t have money to pay for.

Like I said, if I got to play the game, enjoy it and pass it. That is enough for me. I don’t need to have them for the rest of my life. I move on to newer and better games.

If you wanna play Defense Grid for the rest of your life, be my guest.

Do you not realize you’re getting AC2? 2! It already has 3-4 sequels that came after it! And Ubisoft has two teams working on AC titles at all times to assure they get one out a year.

It’s not like you’re getting Ocarina of Time or Shadow of the Colossus, You’re getting AC2! Nobody but super hardcore, die hard ,can’t live without replaying every AC game ever made every year at least twice or I’ll die fans will go back and play AC2 .

  • Jeremiah E

how bout they give us 1600 msp per month instead lets us buy what we want

    • Phil Balliet

That’s actually a good idea in my opinion.

    • Geo

You should take over from Don Mattrick, thats a good idea, give people the option to buy what they want instead of having poor titles handed to them

  • RedBulik

    WE :O C=====8 MS
    WE :C====8 MS
    WE :3 MS

  • JaeeTV

All of my comments from yesterday have been deleted. Lmao.

    • Geo

      Larry flipped the switch

    • Brian David K. Lake

      You must of violated ToS.

      • Ross

Thank you for your insightful contribution Brian.

  • OutlawGamer

So once XboxOne goes live, will XboxLive still be able to use 360 for online gaming in the future?

    • Dylan

Yes, probably for a couple years.

    • Phil Balliet

Indeed & your gold membership wil work on both Xbox One & 360 simultaneously.

  • flabeo

I’m both an Xbox Live Gold member and a Playstation + member.

This first half of the month Xbox offered up Defense Grid: The Awakening for free

Playstation offered up Battlefield 3, Metal Slug XX, Jet Set Radio, Dokuro & Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD for the first half of this month. With Saints Row The Third, Uncharted 3, XCOM, Little Big Planet Karting and 15 other games still available for free as of today.

Now I’m a game fanboy, I don’t care what system I play to be honest. But do you see why people are jumping ship and loosing interest in Xbox? Because many of your fans sure do.

  • Brian David K. Lake

They said they’d give you 2 games as well as 2 more each month through now until December. So far they’ve given 1 mainline game Fable 3 and an arcade game that’s hotly popular on Steam. They’ve got at least 11 games left to go and they didn’t need to even give these in any sense, but they decided to do. Regardless, I’ll have everything they offer to be honest, but I have everything Plus offers too so neither bothers me much.

  • Brian David K. Lake

What are you talking about? I said that Plus gives games I’ve already owned well before they put them on their service. I didn’t say Xbox is giving things I don’t already have either. Though I didn’t actually have Defense Grid, I had played it on the PC a while back. MS decided to give away POPULAR games for free, oh the horror of it all. Just because they might not be what YOU want doesn’t mean the casual gamers feel the same way.

Sigh again, MS has no reason to counter Plus. They provide a multiplayer service that far surpasses it and that’s enough for them. Yes they don’t give games on a free rental basis that you probably already own, and yeah they don’t give too many discounts other than for DLC (the stuff people want) and arcade games (fun things to try), but they do have all the features most desire of them, the service rarely if ever goes down, it hasn’t been hacked and crashed like Sony had, and the servers don’t lag or have any issues.

Sony does not compare to that. If anything, Sony needs to try to copy Xbox Live. That’s why they’re going to charge a mandatory service fee, as part of that copying. We’ll see if that makes them improve their servers for the next gen or not.

If they’re not going to give games I don’t already have, or give deals that aren’t 3 years old, then why are you praising them or insulting Xbox when they don’t do the same thing? That stuff MIGHT be useful to casual gamers IF they logged in at the same time and saw it, but otherwise it doesn’t have any real tangible value to active gamers that have active libraries and disposal income.

  • Geo

So how does everyone feel about Don Mattrick going, Im over the moon he was a complete clown who ruined Xbox.

    • Brian David K. Lake

He was also the President that approved everything you did like.

      • Geo

He approved Avatars, horrible laggy dashboard, Ads, Kinect, more focus on casual gamers instead of hardcore gamers, things I did NOT like. Xbox went in the wrong direction when he took over.

        • Nun Ja

I think he’s going in for the kill, Zynga just needs that small nudge in the right direction.

        • Brian David K. Lake

He also approved a lot of other things.. as I said.

And I liked Avatars. The dashboard lags in no capacity, the Kinect is a great piece of machinery, and casual gamers should always be the focus since they are the majority.

          • Ross

Do you work for Microsoft? Because these are the kind of crappy defensive arguments I would expect from Microsoft at this point.

          • Brian David K. Lake

Well seeing as how they aren’t crappy defenses…

          • Geo

You ARE Don Mattrick, what a joke you are.

      • Ross

        No he didn’t Brian

        • Brian David K. Lake

          Sorry, but yes he was.

    • Does Not Equal

I think I’ll play Defense Grid.

  • Brian David K. Lake

You seem to misunderstand. First you aren’t the center of the world so what YOU play doesn’t really have any bearing here. What the majority, the market, or what not plays or might like is of value here. And since hard core gamers (what you and I are classified as since we’re arguing on a game blog of all places) are barely 10% of the market and casual gamers are the greater majority, then the games that they would like or would play or would get them interested in purchasing FUTURE versions of them.. THOSE are what matter.

I’d rather have a few dozen good games to rent too. Except, they’re giving 13 games not just 1. Second, I already own them all so I get really nothing from Plus anyway.

  • Brian David K. Lake

You’re saying a lot of stuff that has no value to anything. A lot of assumptions, a lot of typical uneducated things, and nothing of any intelligence in that comment.

It’s also all insults, rather than discussing the point. It’s typical trolling.

  • Brian David K. Lake

You should research NPD data sometime before typing.
