Sign up for the 2013 Xbox Live Update Xbox 360 Public Beta *UPDATED*

Update: We’ve had an overwhelming demand for participation, and have closed registration. If we re-open registration, I’ll let you know. Update 2: As of 9, July we have started rolling out the beta. Update 3 [July 10, 9PM Pacific]: Japan signup is now available. Beta registration remains closed in many countries but we’ve opened additional spots in Greece, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Turkey, and UAE. Remember that signup is now accessed directly through your Xbox 360 console to streamline the experience. Once the spots fill in these 7 countries, signups will be closed to the public.

Update: As of 12, July the program is now closed in all regions. Thanks for your interest and participation!

We’re inviting Xbox Live members worldwide to participate in the 2013 Xbox Live Update for Xbox 360 Public Beta.* It will include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year.

Unlike our previous beta programs, sign up is now accessed directly through your Xbox 360 console to streamline the experience. Space is limited, so once the spots are filled the beta will be closed to the public.

To join, look for the Xbox Beta Program tile on the home hub of the Xbox Dashboard.

You will be required to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for confidentiality reasons. For more details on the beta are in this Beta FAQ.

Our open public betas allow you to help make Xbox even better.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for participating!

* Xbox Live members in any of our 41 Xbox Live-enabled markets will be able to participate in the public beta for Xbox 360. Please note that members in Japan will have an opportunity to join at a later date. I’ll update this post when we open it for Japan, and additional information about the program as it progresses.

Update: The FAQ is now live here.

I am in Brazil and I signed up for the BETA, problem though is that for the past 2 hours the Xbox is on “update in progress” with the downloading bar not moving. First it updated in the small prompt screen then it changed to the big one and restarted the system, now it is back to the small update prompt we’re so used to seeing.

  • Billy

For everyone saying not much changed its a beta for a reason…they are still making changes give it a day or two HOPEFULLY they will make a huge change they’ve got a lot of things on their plate

  • geordiedeviant

Link for the forums seeing as though I’ve not seen anyone post it in the first 1000 comments.

  • beardyman3218

UK prices are disgusting after the update. Xbox live is fast becoming a mockery and that pains me to even say that.

    • Faisel Shah

I agree and understand the concern and hopefully this will be resolved.

    • Rodrigo DeAraujo

In Brazil too, prices are absurd!

    • Craig Burns

I saw somewhere on here the other day that the US gets the proper exchange, whereas we in Europe get shafted once more.

  • Timothy Shilleto

so someones leaking info from uk

  • beardyman3218

Another reason why we need more cloud storage on xbox 360, so we can just recover our saved games. or back them up without it disabling achievements.

  • beardyman3218

Whats the link for the beta forums.

  • Kyle

Thank you for urinating on the UK.

    • Mr Dakkyz

EA are doing the same Next-Gen games are going to cost 54.99 for the UK

  • Faisel Shah

A lot of people breaking rules and its going to be fun reading the “banned account” thread.

    • Flawless

yeah because they can get your account info from your post on this blog lol.

    • Michel Van Lingner

Oh sorry, I didn’t know you are the “voice” of the people around here, tell me how are they gonna be banned if they aren’t posting their gamertag “Fake Hedgehog” ?

      • Faisel Shah

Thanks for catching up, that was yesterday and my opinions and views are my own. If you don’t like reading them, do me a favour and piss off kindly.

        • Michel Van Lingner

No, in fact I don’t, I had enough of you, do you even have a life? Every single comment here has a reply from you

          • Faisel Shah

Is there a problem with me commenting? I have as much right as you and everyone else here, don’t act as if you know me.

          • Michel Van Lingner

I think everyone has pretty much an idea of how are you, no need to know much about you

          • Faisel Shah

            Of course. Carry on.

          • Faisel Shah

Sure, not here to impress you or anyone else. I’ll take your comments & thoughts into consideration, thank you again.

      • Timothy Shilleto

they look at ip address that are log on here and match them to onces you uses on your xbox live

  • Brad

People pissed and moaned about points and now they’re doing the same for real life currency. It’s impossible to please you people.

    • beardyman3218

It’s the fact that when they have switched to real currency it doesn’t correspond with the conversion to MS points.

      • Andres Leal

for me is right.i dont now what are you talking about

    • Kyle

They could please everyone by keeping points, but allowing you to buy a custom amount. (Instead of having to buy 500 points for a 400 point game)

      • Brad

We can do that in Canada, I guess you can’t in the United States. Odd.

    • Michel Van Lingner

Games cost more, with the changed currency, knew that? I’m not slightly surprised anymore…

      • Faisel Shah

        Stop complaining.

        • Michel Van Lingner

Stop trying to be the mod here, mind your own business

          • Faisel Shah

Mind your own business you wannabe troll, I’m not trying to be a mod nor have I any interest in being a mod. Go and troll elsewhere, your comments aren’t welcome here.

          • Michel Van Lingner

See… again trying to act like the “voice”, I feel so sorry for you

          • Faisel Shah

Bless you, you’re trying extremely hard to get yourself heard.

          • Michel Van Lingner

I’m not Faisel Shah to try that

          • Faisel Shah

And I’m not someone who thinks he’s a internet warrior.

  • Brad

Anyone else notice that the green highlighter is darker?

    • beardyman3218

yes, i thought it was just my eyes.

    • Timothy Shilleto

you are not allowed to post info on the dashboard here

      • Brad

I can’t post it in the official forums either from what I hear.

        • Timothy Shilleto

im beta 2013 part of the forums

  • beardyman3218

    I’m a Master Beta…oh!

    • http://twitter.com/xbudz Xbudz

      Where do I sign up?

  • Nic727

Can you re-open registration. I want to be in :)

    • Faisel Shah

Hey Nic727, major nelson’s update says that if they reopen, he will let people know. Hope this helps.

  • JScarp73

People already watched Microsoft’s X-Box One announcement and know
what’s coming to the dashboard. So none of this is even a surprise when it comes to the 360. So why be all hush hush before the update fully comes?

  • Dutch Williams

were is the update for the beta tab ” ???

  • Sean Mccoy

  • Dutch Williams

    • Timothy Shilleto

  • Mike Mescudi

I’m Kinda of doubting it now but I really don’t know

    • mike

      i hope there is

      • JScarp73

There has to be eventually or else wtf is the purpose of this update.

  • Isaacio

Hey MJR Nelson, GT Isaacio here again, I got a questions regarding the beta update. Did this update and beta registration play a part in the Xbox Live problems that occurred the other night with Xbox Live Parties not working properly if you were not already in one, messages momentarily disappeared from your inbox and messages, party, private and game invites could not be sent. I do realized that all of this is fixed, and at the time game dedicated servers were fully functional, but as far as I know, nothing regarding the situation has been stated. I know that this has worried some gamers, especially after the hack on the Playstation Network. Please give us the details directly after something like this happens and after it has been fixed, keeping your consumers fully in check with what is happening.
