  • FatMike

germany get nothing of that, thx M$ !!

    • m1nh0ca

As far as I know, you got Shadowrun and will get Lost Planet 2.

At least, that’s something, while we who had to move to another country REALLY won’t get a thing, as the games are region locked.

      • roozbeh

        which country are you in?
im in iran. i used a vpn and i got it

        • m1nh0ca

          I’m in Poland.
          I’ll give it a try…

          • roozbeh

you have my issue as well. bought my in the usa. brought it back here it became useless without a vpn.

        • martin_m95

did you put the vpn on your xbox or you downloaded from the website
cuz if its from the website it wont work and your game will be corrupted

          • roozbeh

            the old 99 percent problem?
search xbox vpn on a browser. you will find the answer their. any help you need just tell me.

          • martin_m95

yeah that happens when you use the vpn on the website

            the 99 problem
you have to plug the vpn to your console for it to work
also remove your gamertag from your older post

          • roozbeh

yeah same as blops dlcs and fable 3. you will have to use a wired connection. you can read it up on the internet. it helps alot. thats how i did it

          • martin_m95

wait you tried with a wired connection on the console
            did it work

          • roozbeh

in the case of blops dlcs yes. havent tried it on fable yet.

          • martin_m95

can you contact me on xbox live
also do you have a mic

          • roozbeh

not now sadly. i have no access to my xbox till saturday

          • martin_m95

ok then ill see you on saturday
good luck with your vpn experiments

          • roozbeh

            thanks!

        • RicardoDawkins

which VPN did you use ? How did you download it on your Xbox ?

          • roozbeh

i use to use proxpn. now i just made a private vps.
i can confirm proxpn works. so does vpnreactor

          • martin_m95

is it uk and is it free

          • roozbeh

they are free but they are based in the us. im havent tested this but try best uk vpn. could work but no guarantees.
you could always migrate you know.

          • RicardoDawkins

Did your downloads finish on the Xbox 360 while using Proxpn ?
What is your setup for downloading on the console?
How do you bypass the 80% (99%) IP checkup?

          • roozbeh

            yes.
for proxpn i connected the vpn and after words i just shared the vpn connection and configured the local area connection that was connected to the xbox. used my wireless connection on my laptop and shared it with the local area connection.
i connected the vpn at 0 percent first then my ordinary connection till 75%. after that i connected the vpn till 76 and then 79 and 82 etc(they have a 3 percent difference) till 99.
presto, region block denied. i get my game.
note: when connected to the vpn the download rate became really low.

    • O Mosqueda

I just don’t understand that European censorship, especially in Germany. I know they want to leave WWII behind, but hiding their past in the form of censorship doesn’t make things any different. Like they’ve posted, at least you’ll get some replacements, I hope that includes the XBLA game we are getting too. However, you can’t blame MS for that.

      • Nick Peck

        Exactly.

  • http://www.insidegames.ch/ Marcel

German Gamer becomes two different games, because they are on the index and forbidden in germaney. :(

    Source: http://www.insidegames.ch/xbox-live-games-with-gold-fuer-deutschland/

    • Dr.med. Z. Ombie

It should be “German Gamer get two different games…”
      Quaaaack ;)

      • Marcus W.

No, no, the german gamer becomes the games…

    • RSix

      true that, and a shame

  • O Mosqueda

Listening for real does pay. About 450 comments at this moment, and so far I’ve only seen good comments, not like last month’s for Defense Grid. That’s the way to do it, suck on it PS+! We DO get to keep these games.

    • O Mosqueda

A 4-year-old game I get to keep, PS+ gives you this and that, 6 months after PS4 you get to keep a good memory of your rentals.

  • Ercik

For Mexico is not free Dead Rising 2 & DR2: Case Zero

    • m1nh0ca

      Anywhere it is.

      It’s only from August 16th.

    • Nick Peck

You get DR2 on the 16th, the 1st (today) is Crackdown.

    • Marcus W.

What part of “Then on August 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can grab BOTH Dead Rising 2 (Normally US $29.99) and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (Normally 400 points) for free.” didn’t you understand?

    • O Mosqueda

Hasta el 16 de agosto, en México si es seguro al 99.99% que tengamos estos juegos, recuerda que es sólo para miembros Gold.

  • http://www.doblu.com/ Matt Paprocki

Glad to see positive reactions. I’ll throw in my two cents and say I loved the idea of free Arcade games more than physically released title. While I can pick up Crackdown super cheap physically (all of .56 cents used on Amazon!), XBLA games don’t allow such price drops. Getting some of those free is refreshing. Hope to see more of those included in addition to bigger titles.

  • martin_m95

major nelson can you PLEASE make crackdown region free for the duration of the promotion
    excuse my english

    • m1nh0ca

      I second that.

And not only Crackdown, but all of the forthcoming games…

      • roozbeh

        i guess i third that.

    • KesMonkey

No, he can’t. This is completely outside Microsoft’s control. Ask your government.

      • martin_m95

my country doesnt even support xbox live

  • Guest

Very nice! Argh, screw the PauperStation, beggars can’t be choosers and this is just great!

    • Guest

      stop jason voorhees.

      • Death Dealer

Oh look, it’s our resident pauper PS fanboy Hypertallih again.
We know you have only one friend, your PoS3.

        https://www facebook com/hicham.habbola
Don’t worry, we’ll all play nice, since you think every Xbox fanboy is somehow Jason Voorhees trying to kill you.

  • RicardoDawkins

What the hell do you give these games for ***FREE*** if the games are region locked.

I can’t download. Stop this nonsense, please.

    • martin_m95

      yeah, like seriously

    • O Mosqueda

Tell Angela Merkel and the EU, if they wouldn’t have those ridiculous censorship rules, you’d have these games too, this time, is not MS fault. Is not nonsense, it’s eurononsense.

      • Powder

“The original Xbox as well as the Xbox 360 are region-locked, although it is up to the publisher if a game is region-free or not.”

And publisher of Crackdown is Microsoft Studios.

  • ungeheier

Major, I REALLY hope that the Xbox One’s increase in servers for Xbox Live will make downloads not take as long. It shouldnt take an hour+ to download 6GB. When I get an Xbox One I dont plan on purchasing AND Disc-based games.

I hope you put something in place for us to pre-order games from the marketplace and have them start to download at midnight so they are available to us when we wake up in the morning. You guys have the opportunity to make things REALLY shine if you do things correctly. Or, it could be slow as hell like it currently is. Make us happy for once… Please?

    • O Mosqueda

An hour+? You should consider yourself lucky. It takes me 5 hours to get that and I have to pay about US$25 for my phone+internet bill.

      • ungeheier

I pay $70 JUST for my internet. Hour+ meaning I waited for an hour, and it hadn’t finished yet so I turned off my Xbox (which will resume the download) but I wasnt able to play the game at all this morning.

My biggest gripe though is the the Xbox One’s games will be considerably larger. I dont want to wait half a day just to play a game that others can play if they bought it on disc. MS has the means to make our downloads faster. They just have to make it a priority.

        • O Mosqueda

Whoa! Now I understand. I don’t think they’ll use obsolete servers for XBO, a 25GB+ download sure will need the speed.

  • Brady Nickell

Let’s get some newer games next month please!!!!

  • http://www.pathofdestruction.us/forums Xtowers

I own all these already, which is fine. I own a bunch of games so I expected to see a few Games with Gold that I already own. Actually, Defense Grid is the only game I didn’t already own. XD

Reading the comments below… Seems like it is hard to please everybody. Probably the only way to get everybody happy is to offer a bunch of games for free all at once (similar to PSN+), but that might not be possible when these games are being offered for free with no post-purchase subscription requirements.

    • martin_m95

were complaining because the games they offer for free this month are region locked

      • http://www.pathofdestruction.us/forums Xtowers

I understand that. That really stinks. A lot of other people are pleased, though. Would you feel better if they offered several titles for Games with Gold even if a few might be region locked? =) (not trying to sound condescending; I actually want your honest opinion) :]

        • martin_m95

you mean more than 2 a month?

          • http://www.pathofdestruction.us/forums Xtowers

Right. Like maybe a mix of several arcade or retail titles, similar to the offerings on PSN+.

          • martin_m95

yeah that would be great. Although i dont see it happening.

          • http://www.pathofdestruction.us/forums Xtowers

Yeah. Probably a stretch. Thanks for sharing. :)

      • WARLORD

You should be complaining to your government. Its not Microsoft fault, and thy did offer up games you can have in your region.

        • martin_m95

i didnt mention who am i complaining against

          • WARLORD

Lol well unless your government is offering up free game’s? Its Microsoft.

          • martin_m95

our goverment doesnt care about microsoft
theyre too buzy failing to fight off the great protest

          • O Mosqueda

I think what Warlord tried to mean is that if you are complaining here, then you are complaining to MS. If you are in Europe, it’s not the government fault either (at least not all), is the EU’s fault and its common laws. I’ve heard stories of companies asking for EU’s approval for some games and having failed, and this has been a 25+ year-old struggle. Oddly enough, they allow Japanese games that are skipped by American distributors, fearing public criticism and low sales for cultural differences, rather than censorship.

    • O Mosqueda

I think they should read the fine print, it’s not MS fault the regional censorship laws, that’s beyond their control, for the rest of us, it makes it up for the Defense Grid goof-up. Way to go MS, ‘hope the good changes will still be coming in the XBO era.

      • http://www.pathofdestruction.us/forums Xtowers

True. It is not Microsoft’s fault that certain titles are not available because of foreign laws, but they probably could have chosen titles that were available universally. Of course that would mean the rest of the world might miss out on some good games that would’ve otherwise been offered. Kind of a win-lose situation either way. =/

      • martin_m95

then how are sony dealing with that. As you can see all the stuff on ps3 is region free

        • roozbeh

now that the xbox one is region free all i can hope now is the best

          • martin_m95

            were did you learn that
xbox one will be region locked

          • roozbeh

It was announced back in june. You can check it online

          • Roberto Merino

NO, they confirmed the Xbox One is region free, but the game companies will decide if their games get a region lock or not.

  • AC130

So no word for the sales for the next two weeks? Is M$ trying to hide all the shame? I would hope that they don’t have Bioshock, Fallout or Tom Clancy sale next week however they have gone very quiet about it.

    • O Mosqueda

Tom Clancy was 2 weeks ago, they usually give crappy DotW when the rest of the offers are better, the Capcom sale, the ephemeral bundles and GwG compensate it pretty much IMO.

      • Timothy Shilleto

see crackdown 2 is on sale now

    • http://twitter.com/incphi incphi

I’d also like to see a coming soon list for August but with Summer of Arcade around the corner I don’t think we’re missing much saleswise.

      • Bennijin

Oh god don’t remind me. Summer of Overprice and the return of “here’s some terrible deals, please buy these games at full whack”.

    • Bennijin

Well if it’s yet another GTA4 “sale” this week and Major is too scared/ashamed to post a coming up list due to the inevitable poopstorm I fear next week’s gonna see the return of RDR/Bioshock2/RISK Factions “deals”.

  • Eidur

    What a crappy game

    • O Mosqueda

Go back to P S + and enjoy your rentals while you can. Let us be the judge of that, this game was praised back in its day and had better grades than its sequel, that’s gotta make it worth it.

      • Eidur

I dont have ps3 or plus, that was just my opinion of this game.
I am happy to get it for free but I wount play it.
there must have been a better arcade game than this ( in my opinion ).

        • O Mosqueda

Sure, there are better XBLA games, but at least this time is one that appeals to most and had good reviews.
Sorry if I was rude, but you know most of that kind of responses come from PS fanboys.
Anybody else is having problems posting with Discus?

          • Eidur

no hard feelings :) I know there is a lot of ps3 vs xbox360 stuff going on out there.

    • Bennijin

Except it isn’t, although you do have to give yourself a bit to level up.
Try the demo if it’s still available, it’s timed but your skills improve at an accelerated rate compared to the full game so you can have a taste of power.

  • Anon

I would rather have lost planet 2 than either of these. Anyone know if there is a way I can get that instead when it’s available? Sucks these are region locked for anyone who did want them.

    • mightywombat

Set up a Gold account in Germany or Japan and then get a VPN to download from there and hope that those copies aren’t region locked. So basically, no.

      • Anon

Oh well, would be nice to have the choice. Already have the first crackdown and case zero. Never bought DR2 so hopefully that is good.

  • Rino Ibanez

..These games are not available here in the Caribbean..Shadowrun and Lost Planet 2 is also not free (just checked it) …so what are we getting?..a “deal with it” joke?

  • JoeGrahamcracker

Give Crackdown a chance. Its a really good sandbox game once you put a couple hours into it.

    • martin_m95

i would love to if it wasnt region locked

      • O Mosqueda

If you take the fall for making MS to break the laws of your region, maybe you can get it, maybe.

    • WARLORD

Sorry to say I gave the game a try and not so good. graphics are dated the controls blow and the AI sucks. I’v played better arcade games.

      • Bennijin

A game that came out in 2007 has dated graphics, who knew?

        • WARLORD

There even dated for a 07 game. Ign review at the time sad” Crackdown is no better than decent looking.” Thy were comparing it to game like RB6V, and Gears of war which came out before Crackdown.

  • Mr na

Already Got them all . I’ve paid for everything that’s been offered free now. Disgrace to many loyal customers to not offer a variant not on account

    • Nick Peck

Yah, I supposed they should call and ask 50 million people what games they already have so they can tailor it to each person. Give me a break lol. Go complain to retail stores about what they have on sale because you don’t like it or have it. Come on man, really?

      • Mr na

        Really.
Think before you type with sarcasm when it’s voided by fact.

They know what games you’ve already purchased from marketplace / GOD etc their on your account. They know what games you have on your account / storage/ cloud etc from game saves & achievements.

        • O Mosqueda

Sure, the games you’ve played are in your account, but they can’t tell if you rented, borrowed or bought them. I have several achievements from rented games, I even have DLC for games I don’t own yet!

          • Mr na

So they can’t tell if you bought Games on demand games from them ? Really.

          • O Mosqueda

On Demand, yes, On Disc, no. Like I said, they should have a compensations program just like the N does.

        • GmailIsDown

you don’t suppose microsoft is willing to spend that much effort to implement such system right?

      • Sledg

Nick, just ignore them! I can’t even read the comments in here because the amount of {whatever word(s) you like best} is beyond sad.

    • O Mosqueda

If you have them physically, there’s no way for MS to know if you are the actual and sole owner of the copy (they tried, er, dared to do that with XBO and you saw what happened). They should have a compensation program for situations like the bundles or permanently reduced games, though.

  • O Mosqueda

Politics, politics. It always ruins it for the common person.

  • m1nh0ca

Jeez, O Mosqueda (and his upvoters), some of your comments make no sense…

Please, understand, I’ll try to explain: region locked games are NOT the same as not available games. Period.

An example: I live in country A. My account is set to country B. Both countries have the same game available. But, when the person from country A try to download the game from his account from country B, he can’t. Why? Only MS knows. Both countries have the game… and we can’t donwload anyway. What’s the matter? Is it a way to force us to migrate account?

On the other hand: I live in country A. My account is set to country B. Only country B has the game available. My region doesn’t have. So, I can’t download due to availability, and not exclusively regarding region / IP blocking.

Your arguments about censorship and politics have only to do if the game is not available in a country. So, keep them for those people who really don’t have the game in their regions, and not for the other ones.

    • martin_m95

yeah here in bulgaria i can see crackdown in stores
but the country doesnt support xbox live so i cannot get crackdown for free
this has nothing to do with our politics but rather with microsoft not caring about bulgaria

      • m1nh0ca

So, your case is regarding availability and that’s Microsoft’s fault. Nothing to do with government or censorship, as I told.

Where do you have your account set up? Maybe if you put it to a closer country it may work… I’m not sure. Or using VPN is the only way… :-/

        • martin_m95

my account is in the uk

          • martin_m95

hey can i ask my cousin from spain to get my account and download it for me

          • m1nh0ca

I guess it’s possible… keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I’m not bothering so much now because I have Crackdown already… but I’m thinking about the forthcoming games…

          • martin_m95

            how did you get it

          • m1nh0ca

I bough in disc, about 2 years ago… and it costed 3 pounds, if I remember well…

      • roozbeh

Man you guys got it lucky. My country is sanctioned from everything. Hell we cant even play world of warcraft.
        Obama I blame you!

    • O Mosqueda

When talking about the marketplace, is not only region lock in the program, it’s also IP blocking. MS does it mostly to comply with regional laws and/or copyright issues. In Mexico, the Rocky & Bullwinkle Pinball table is not available for purchase possibly because of copyright issues, nether is Aegis Wing, this one has indeed unknown reasons. None of the Indie games in the US are available in Mexico either, possibly due to taxes or something that makes the makers unable to have proper revenues from MS.
About the country not being supported by XBOX Live, that is very likely to be MS fault, although you must also consider that Internet access is not the same in all countries and some block content by law.
If MS had to come up with different options for Europe, it has to be because of European game censorship laws, otherwise, they wouldn’t have even bother to give those options if they wanted to mess with you so bad as you think they are.
We have some Japanese GonD’s en NA, so it’s not a region lock issue.

      • m1nh0ca

Aha! Now you got a point: Aegis Wing is available only in US and Canada. So, how can I dowload it from another country just setting the account for US? Because there’s no region / IP locking.

This situation gets the blockade for a game being available in both regions even more absurd… in my case, I’m currently living in Poland. I lived in UK, bought my Xbox there and set up my account for that country. Both Poland and UK have Crackdown available for free. The question is: why can’t I dowload it? It’s a nonsense censorship, but coming from Microsoft, and not from the countries.

  • roozbeh

    Translates to white russia correct?
    Though luck on the games.

    • Nikita

yes it does, “Bela” means white, its called that way because of birch tree forests that we have a lot around here, cuz their stables are white…

      • roozbeh

I always wanted to know why they called it white russia. Thanks for the info.

  • http://www.hongkongkavaliers.com/ Perfect Tommy

    Halo Wars free, please.

    • jose

yea thats actually a good pick is the only halo game i havent played.

      • paul rolland

I really wished they ported to PC, RTS games never work on the consoles,

    • GmailIsDown

i got it for 10 bucks last time it went on sale

      • http://www.hongkongkavaliers.com/ Perfect Tommy

Free is better and worth the wait.

  • jose

i cant wait to get my hands on dead rising 2!
this is so smart because it can be an introduction for new gamers new to the series and if they like it they can look forward to DR3 on X#1.
kudos to major nelson and the xbox live team.

  • Erick

I’m not a fanboy of either Sony or Microsoft I have both and on ps3 I have plus just saying with plus you get good games for free like battle field 3 and uncharted 3 just saying Xbox step your game up these free games suck

    • Spazicle

No they don’t. These are all good games.

    • GmailIsDown

you are a troll. these games are excellent by any means. and you get to keep your games forever, offline. for those deceptive “free” psn games you have to maintain an active paid PS+ subscription and the games will self-destruct after your subscription runs out even if you stay offline.

    • Bennijin

Rather have something like Crackdown than yet another shooter and a Tomb Raider knockoff…

  • StonerSmurf420

About to download this…. never even heard of crackdown so might as well give it a chance. A few ppl seem to be saying it sucks and that the graphics are dated. Screenshots look like ps2 or original xbox to me but any real gamer knows graphics mean very little when it comes to playability but we’ll see.

    • roozbeh

well its an old game. thats why the graphics are dated.

to anybody having the region lock issue
i think they fixed it cuz it started downloading for me

    • m1nh0ca

Hey, dude! Thanks for the tip!
It worked fine for me as well… :-D

I’m really hoping to not face the same issue with the next games…

      • O Mosqueda

So in your case, you weren’t even getting Lost Planet 2, you had an IP block. When I talked about the censorship, it was because of gamers in the EU were getting different games. Your problem was indeed an MS problem, I guess they still have to work things out and the region migration either wasn’t enough or was not working right. Sorry if I upset you, I’m glad things got fixed.

        • m1nh0ca

          Yes, that was the case.
The thing is: we are getting Crackdown indeed. The other games are only for Germany and not for the rest of EU (here in Poland, for example, we don’t have problems with forbidden or censored games… some of my friends in Germany buy games here or in Austria).

No te preocupes, hombre… there are so many issues and details that sometimes we get lost indeed.

    • roozbeh

Thanks for saying this. Saves the hassle.

I much prefer the ‘Games with Gold’ promotion, to the PS+ ‘Instant Game Collection’.

Granted they offer newer, more varied games on PS+ but you never actually own them, you just have them as long as you’re a paying member. I like Xbox’s variation more, where you have the game on your hard drive for as long as you have an Xbox account.

I can see why people would prefer PS+ but I prefer Xbox’s idea.

I seriously can’t believe people are finding a way to complain about Microsoft giving away ‘free’ games. Gamers (well, a certain sub-section of gamers) have become such self-entitled, whiny cry-babies, it’s pathetic.

You already have Crackdown? So? And? You paid for it, had it for (presumably the last six years) and have had six years of playing it… THAT’S what you paid for, Microsoft aren’t obligated to make sure that every single gamer is catered to, it’s a promotion for that particular game, for free.

It is irrelevant whether you have the game or not, that’s the game they’re offering you.

    • O Mosqueda

I agree with you, the ones who complain must understand that it is a limited time offer.
If this was permanent, I would understand their anger and I do think MS should offer compensations in other cases, like in games that were permanently reduced or in the case of the bundles (for the lucky ones who got to purchase them before they suddenly popped out).

    • Mr na

It’s all games they have so far and are going to offer for free. I have already bought & still own all of them.

I asked xbox support nicely at the very start of this promo (less than 2 minutes after announcement of all games) what would for example a set of loyal customers with over 800 retail / 150 XBLA games likely to be offered as their reward / perk of being a GOLD subscriber with them already owning everything documented for this promo. This in the hope they had a plan to offer a replacement to those customers whom have paid subs for 7-10 years and who have got every game they have set aside for this 5 month promotion. Their answer was in the same arrogant manner as yours, i.e clueless.

Another example of Ms not caring about their most valued customers*

*All customers should be valued but come on any business really should make sure to look after those spending on say an average of £30 a game x 812 = £24,360 as well as 10 Xbox 360′s. and say spending over 140,000 Msp

I bet you’re the kinda person who’ll just lie down and happily accept a good kicking. E.g when LIVE goes off for many days and they offer you an xbox arcade game Undertow as compensation (but you’ve already bought it and no substitute was made available but you’ll just accept that) for the loss of many days from your Xbox live subscription, not me I got my stolen days added back onto my account.

Btw Ms answer was to stay tuned regarding the free games until launch of XB1 or 31/12/13 as if that was an answer to the issue.

      • JackPackage

You really need to get out more, if you’re dropping twenty-five-grand on gaming and have 800+ Xbox games. You’re probably leaving a disgusting sweat patch on your t-shirt just writing that comment and your pasty skin is being burned by the slight glare from this white background on your computer screen.

Microsoft are offering these games FOR FREE, it’s a promotion designed to… Promote Xbox. They’re aren’t rewarding you, you aren’t a dog that learnt a new trick. If you don’t like their policies, stop giving them ridiculous amounts of money. You’re acting like you have no choice in the matter, if you don’t like the way Microsoft do business, don’t do business with them.

Don’t pay them £25,000 for goods and then complain about the company you gave an obscene amount of money to.

The best way Microsoft could reward you, would be to delete your Live account, brick your console and force you to go outside, talk to actual real life humans and possibly fornicate with a female.

Are you kidding me? Man is talking about having 800+ games and still wanting moar? Are you hooked up to a drip and bed-pan and play Xbox 24/7?

    • Brian

meh – do you plan on not having Gold? If not, it’s not an issue. Same with PSN+. Honestly I’d rather have newer and more multitudes of games since I’m paying the same on both systems.

    • Bush O Connor

the games MS are offering are not even close to what PSN have been putting out.
they could have pushed the boat out a little and at least gave crackdown 2, which i bought in gamestop for 15,99 a few years ago that is on sale/reduced on the dashboard for 24.99 now.
why would you prefer this over the other? they are the same only PSN has the better newer games.

      • roozbeh

only difference is that you own the game from G4G. on ps plus their rentals

  • evilfangs .

Get over yourself, it’s a FREE game and you’re crying like a spoiled brat.

  • http://sondreb.com SondreB

I did get Assassins Creed 2, but can’t find Crackdown on Xbox Live. It’s a tiny bit annoying that us living in countries such as Norway won’t get all the free games. Crackdown is available in stores…

    • Death Dealer

Today when i started my Xbox, the free game was there :-D Thanks!

  • Dylan Kyle Szablewski

i am just trying to say is that, why not put games everyone would enjoy. instead of only a few people will enjoy. alot of my friends on Xbox Live are not having fun with the game ether.

    • baconcheeswhiz89

      whine whine whine……whine

      • Dylan Kyle Szablewski

bro get a life and stop being a low life kid still in there mom and dad’s basement. i am in college and just have some time off of studys and just saying whats on my mind.

        • baconcheeswhiz89

oh im sorry, maybe the xbox team should only put out games that YOU like for free.

  • Dylan Kyle Szablewski

when will World Of Tanks going to be ready for download on the marketplace? just wondering.

    • martin_m95

      they canceled it

lol just joking i dunno when will it be released

  • Francisco Noriega

I don’t have those games, so I’m happy about it :)

    • Sir Muffslammer

Then this free game deal works out quite well for you. I don’t want to be ungrateful, but I just can’t appreciate ‘free’ games that I paid $60 a piece for years ago.

      • roozbeh

thats understandable. but think it this way. there are more people you can play that game with

  • Sigognac

Other than the fact that we appreciate what is indirectly given, am I alone to remark that inside the sales, including the free games, there are very few, if not any games intended for children or destined to the family ?
Mine includes at least four players, ranging from an 8 years old niece to a dign grandmother, with me in the middle. And would you be surprised that I can hardly find a single game during all the sales and the deals of the week that is not a warfare first-person-shooter, a bloody criminal wrongdoing simulation, a nightmarish zombies survival horror or an unscrupulous assassination reconstitution ?

This is not a critic that seeks conter examples; and I would not want to precise in what several games that are seen as “good for everyone” are not, in reality. This is just an opinion that tells that some important players are forgotten, as well amidst the veterans as inside the families and the young gamers.

  • abeeest

Does anyone why major hasn’t posted deal of the week and sales and specials ?

  • StonerSmurf420

So, I assumed that once u download a game its yours even if u delete it from your harddrive u can still redownload it at no additional cost at a later time…. I assumed this because thats what microsoft had said includeing what major nelson has said multiple times. However, keeping that in mind I deleted fable 3 to make room for crackdown. After playing crackdown for a while I decided I didnt like it so I went to redownload fable 3 and low and behold it wants to charge me for it even though I had previousely downloaded it a couple months ago when it was free.

    • roozbeh

Well I can confirm you own it. I bought fable 3. Still haven’t downloaded it. I can still download it.

    • StonerSmurf420

Nvm, now its showing download again instead of a price…. weird, must have been a marketplace hiccup or something.

    • evilfangs .

Make sure you go to download history otherwise some times the marketplace as you said can hiccup and think you don’t actually own the game and try charge you again.

  • evilfangs .

Is this Crackdown game hard as hell or just me lol? I got through the first part quite easy, killed all the Los Muertos and now I’m on the Volk gang and I’m just dying over and over again, what am I doing wrong?

    • martin_m95

use the light machine gun its the best weapon in the game

      • evilfangs .

Yea I’m using the light machine gun and the homing rocket launcher but I’m just getting owned silly.

        • martin_m95

homing rocked launcher is a clumsy weapon
i suggest you snipe the bossess from rooftops where theyre thugs have a hard time shooting you

          which boss are you on

          • evilfangs .

I’m taking down the Volk gang member generals down. I just get rushed by all the gang members, I’m like fighting 50+ at a time and they just keep coming lol.

          • martin_m95

            yeah they never stop comming
your best bet is to avoid the thugs snipe or quickly kill the general and get the hell out of there

  • JackPackage

You played it for an hour and a half and couldn’t get into it? What do you propose they do? Consult you beforehand to give away games that better suit his Lordship’s tastes?

What if they gave away Diablo III, you inexplicably can’t get into it (yet at the same time play it for an hour and a half) and still complain like a child?

What we talking about here? They gave away a game, you didn’t like it, so you’re crying about it on an online comment section. What do you propose they do? Give people free reign to download any two games they like every month? InB4 Xbox games cease to exist because nobody buys them anymore.

I can at least sympathise with the ‘it’s an old, game that I already own’ cry-babies but your argument is completely asinine. It has an 83% rating on Metacritic, it’s not like they’re giving away Mindjack & Vampire Rain.

  • defgufman

Crackdown is an awesome game. Make sure you start collecting as many orbs as you can right away so you can power up. The first gang is really easy to take down but after that if you haven’t powered up your dude it gets really hard.

  • Sir Muffslammer

    What a splendid idea

  • Mark Capell-helm

ok i have had a 20 min blat on crackdown and its pretty good fun +1 on games for gold then from me (not that anyone really cares what i think :P lol ) hoping DR+ ZERO are as much fun on 16th and if you read this far my rating of games sop far is
Fable III my type of game definate +3
that tower defence game (your kidding me) -3
    Assassins Creed II =0
(good game but old and most played already wanting extra for the DLC stopped it getting a +)
    Crackdown +1 (good fun)
total so far In My Opinion ! is +1

  • Sebastian Barfurth

I’m from Germany and I’m not complaining about the region lock… Not towards Microsoft at least. The only one responsible is the nation and their extremely retarded laws (the game is available about everywhere aside from the biggest country in the EU, great logic there). Also there’s a reason they don’t just hand you new games for free – no one could afford a license for Battlefield 3 for every Xbox LIVE member – PS+ just requires you to pay for the game anyways by having an active PS+ membership for 50 bucks, you can use a 2 day trial on LIVE… I prefer that. Just saying.

    • roozbeh

      Didn’t you guys get shadowrun?

      • Mark Capell-helm

yes they did and anyone with a german gold can get it

  • Shaun Kern

Dead Rising 2 i was wishing it was with games with gold after getting the first 1 cant wait Crackdown i did not like it so deleted it i hopefully AC Revelations will be one the only AC i have not played

    • martin_m95

ac revelations is only 2 years since release date i dont think ms will be willing to give it away

  • paul rolland

I play it for hours but that was because I was waiting for the much delayed Halo 3 beta. sadly the game is kinda bad lol

  • Sigognac

    That is not false.
But if those who manage Xbox think that way, they are making a mistake.
With nearly 60 millions Xbox 360 sold and 31 millions Xbox Live suscribers, I could surely guess that there are more than some childrens, teenagers, and more casual players amidst them.

To begin with my own family and my surrounding. From those I know that own an Xbox, I count two that could be included in the apparently targeted customers, and five that seeks the kind of lighter entertainment I mentionned.
But you are right for the fact, SkyDemonz.

    • SkyDemonz360

Get your family minecraft, thats kid-friendly.

  • DaWhiteBrotha

Shadowrun is still my fav online shooter of all time. Quite a shame Halo 3 came out like a month or so after Shadowrun’s release. It got buried. Very, very ,very sad. I would have bought all the DLC for Shadowrun. Love that game.

  • martin_m95

nobodys giving you free games since the developers just released them and they want to make money out of them for like 3-4 years
