Xbox Fitness coming to Xbox One

Today we announced Xbox Fitness is coming to Xbox One.  The extensive library of videos from the world’s biggest fitness brands including Beachbody’s P90X (Tony Horton) and INSANITY (Shaun T), Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson and others, will be available for free with Xbox Live Gold memberships through December 2014. Using Kinect technology, Xbox Fitness can read your heart rate without a monitor, see which muscles are most engaged by measuring the power, force and transfer of weight in your body, and track the quality of your performance by measuring your balance, tempo and form.

  • snappingdragon

I am ecstatic about this. The only thing that is missing with this is the ability to link it to Fitocracy, then the world would be perfect!

  • William Deboer

    this is awesome…

  • Nick

Pretty cool. I’d prob give it a shot

  • Sledg

    looking forward to this

  • Rick Stephens

Major Nelson – I have been looking forward to the xbox one for a long time. Keeping up on the latest and greatest. But I can’t seem to find this. Will I be able to come home on launch night, download the update, and download the launch games on demand? Or do I need to get the disk based games at launch? I’m hoping digital. Thanks for the help!

    • Dennis Crosby

I’m not sure if it was at E3 or gamescom but they said every launch game will be available on day one digitally

      • Rick Stephens

Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I was hoping I wouldn’t have a mixed collection.

        • HGamer

I guess what Dennis quoted was in fact, M$ once said “all games’ digital version will be available on day1 of the retail version release.”

As of the console’s launch day, anything can happen. It’s common for server to be overloaded at a new system’s launch. I would not expect too much. Download time is also a concern.

If possible, I recommend getting retail copies of the games you want.

          • Pearson Smith

You can play a game while it’s downloading btw.

          • ungeheier

While what you stay is true in theory, if no one can get enough data for the game to start then there’s no way you can play it while it’s downloading. Also too, it won’t be instantaneously start playing the second you hit purchase, you will need to download at least some of the game before it will play.

          • Roberto Merino

Not from 0MB, they said you need to download firs aproximately 20% of the game

          • Roberto Merino

They are making bundles of console + downloadable forza 5 or Fifa. They better make sure their servers won’t overload or this launch would be an epic fail to be remembered for years

    • usrev

pretty sure every xbone game will be on games on demand. but I’d assume server issues day 1 tbh.

    • Does Not Equal

Fitness is all digital. There’s no disc for it.

  • DarkMaturus

Hell ya! New Year resultion, here I come!

  • NJPW

Pretty cool, but what about DDP with DDP Yoga?

    BANG

  • CXK

I checked these comments expecting nothing but hate. Thank god PS fanboys have crawled back into their holes.

    • roozbeh, again

Give it some time, they will comeback.

    • usrev

gamers who wanted xbox to do better than playstation*

fixed that for you. I loved my xbox, and for a while loved the 360. but MS dropped the ball and instead of picking it back up they seemed to sit on the ground and roll in mud. Xbox one looks A LOT better than it did when revealed, but it’s still pretty far behind the competition. I hope it comes back, or better yet, they learn their lesson and destroy sony next next gen. competition is good for the consumer the problem.

      • GmailIsDown

how is Xbox One behind the competition? from what has been demonstrated so far, it beats PS4 in almost every single aspect. quality and quality of exclusive games, both announced and those available at launch. kinect vs ps eye. smartglass vs remoteplay, cloud features like drivatar vs… well we haven’t seen Sony being able to demonstrate anything concrete at this point.
Sony does have a better PR department. it takes features that Xbox One takes for granted and then makes a big deal out of it. of course xbox one can do gaming. it has a lot more games available at launch and a lot more in the works. and it can do a lot more besides gaming.

i’ll get a PS4 eventually but definitely not at launch because of the lack of games, and the fact that Sony has focused their attention on small, indie like games. i don’t have anything against indie games. Journey on PS3 was awesome. it’s just that i won’t throw $400 down the drain to get a brand-new console to play indie games. i can play them on PC or current-gen consoles just as well. the only exclusive AAA games available at launch for PS4, Killzone SF, Knack, and DriveClub, are not able to hold me over for a year until the other PS4 titles start to pop out. Xbox One has more than enough AAA games and games that utilize the power of the new console at launch for me.

        • CXK

I was just coming here to post this @gmaillsdown. The Xbox One does everything the PS4 does and more. Microsoft only failed in delivering that message. They’re making up for it now but honestly, they were damned from the beginning. Since the Kinect was announced it became cool for Sony fanboys to completely trash the Xbox. Which is kind of funny when you look at the state of the PS3 at that time. It also came out with an even worse motion controller that went straight to flop-city. Playstation fanboys are easily the loudest fans on the net and similar to German Cockroaches, they are in every crack of the internet. Even this site at times, which completely baffles me.

PS4 and Xbox One are so similar in hardware that it will come down to what software you prefer. We already know Sony is down right awful at creating a nice OS. Xbox One will run a version of Win8, a proven OS. I’d be willing to bet the PS4 will launch with half of its features working, a quarter coming later and another quarter never coming at all. See PS3′s history for my reasons.

Sony has made plenty of improvements from the PS3 to PS4. I owned a PS3 but never bought a single game. I couldnt stand the horrid OS and how everything was a hassle on the console. Slow installs, terribly slow downloads, long and frequent updates were plenty to make me just sell it once Blu-ray players were cheap. The PS4 seems like the Xbox 360 with new hardware. I’m a huge 360 fan, one of my favorite consoles of all time. But the PS4′s Kinect rip off that seems at the level of current gen Kinect, it’s paid online service that’s probably going to be similar to what the Xbox 360′s Live is now and the overall feel is Xbox. Thats just my opinion and observation.

  • roozbeh, again

    FREE?

Awesome, Time to get these extra pounds off. Maybe then my girlfriend will love me.

  • HGamer

    Sigh…….

I was expecting some good X1 news everyday, but always got these: TV features, fitness features, Phil Haxxxson boasting what X1 can do, features that will be available somewhen in the future………….

I really want to have some good news to share with my friends, and convince them to buy X1 together. But there isn’t (any good news).

On the contrary, there are always some new games announced for PS4 steadily every other day.

    • usrev

this is how I feel, and honestly one of the reasons I am getting a ps4. it seemed at least once a week a game is announced to be coming to ps4. and no offense but this workout game doesn’t seem like something I’d use at all. It’s not bad at all but xbox needs a couple more games on the level of titanfall’s hype.

      • http://deulus.com/ Derek D

This is EXACTLY how i feel. *sigh* I absolutely LOVE my Xbox 360 more then i ever loved my PS3, and am extremely happy i traded for it, but as of right now, I keep leaning towards PS4. With the exception of E3, Microsoft has not had ANY focus on gamers (their core audience). I understand they are trying to reach the casual market with TV features, but honestly, people who want TV features can get a better experience with a one time purchase of a $50 Roku, then they will ever get with the Xbox One. That’s not to say that the Xbox TV features wont be appreciated by some, but it should definitely not be the focus of Microsoft’s marketing. Everytime Microsoft pushes Kinect with it’s gimmicky voice commands or TV, i loose more interest in Xbox One. I have even considered canceling my pre-order several times. I came EXTREMELY close to canceling after seeing the very first Xbox One commercial (focusing on football), but my friend talked me out of it. So….to sum it all up, please please PLEASE start focusing on games.

        • GmailIsDown

i for one would not have bought a 360 if it was not for the “gimmicky” Kinect. my PS3 works great for games, does not need a yearly subscription to play online, has a more comfortable controller, and has much better exclusives, and 360 does not have that strong a line-up of exclusives. GoW, Fable, Halo, Forza, and…? the Kinect dancing and fitness games however, really blows the competitors (PS move, Wiimote) out of the water. (and then i realized that most cross platform games actually play better on 360, online play is better, has better integrated services, etc. i even watched the last presidential debates on my 360. but that’s something else.)

when i buy an Xbox One, i buy it for the features and services as well. Xbox One already has a much stronger line-up of launch exclusives than PS4 at this point. the games don’t really need some explanation. just show some trailers of cool bros shooting each other, and that’s about it. it won’t make the console stand out. the new features that are really leading the competition, however, need to be emphasized to let the public know.

          • roozbeh, again

The PS3 controller is more comfortable for you?!

You got baby hands or something?

          • Pressure

I have large hands and find the PS3 controller more comfortable.

        • roozbeh, again

          Dude, chill.

TGS, Gamescom, PAX, Eurogamer expo, etc.

Say all the things you want about kinect or the TV things that the xbox one has, Microsof have delivered game wise, and that is all that matters

        • Nick Peck

What are you talking about? They have showed nothing but GAMES since E3…. Did you just wake up from a month long sleep and miss everything? Of course they will talk about the other aspects of the system here and there, but it’s been “about the games” for months now.

If they weren’t focused on games, why do they have a killer launch line up and all of the support they need? Sony has killzone and knack for FP games that aren’t F2P microtransaction games, that’s it….. sadly for them. From sony I am getting the Nintendo vibe, “buy us now, play really good games next year when they might be coming out”…

Again, I said that’s what I’m getting from it, that is all. If you see more value than I do for a ps4 then by all means buy it and love it.

      • robmc

So if you’re getting a PS4, why are you trolling this site? You know coming here that it belongs to a employee of MS.

      • Nick Peck

You do know that sony is pushing for a lot of tv stuff for the ps4 right? they already have music, tv shows and movies on it so I love the whole “ps4 is ONLY for games” argument by people lol.

Most consumers want an all in one device and MS knows this and that is why they are pushing in that direction. Sure, the VERY small minority of “hardcore gamers” will flock to the ps4, but I bet most of them will get an XBO as well (off the bat, XBO has the better lineup imo).

        • Mystictrust

It’s all about marketing and PR and Sony has that down pat. Remember, Sony came up with the “PS3. It only does everything” ad campaign. Their systems are definitely not “gaming and that’s it”. I’m thinking a lot of people forgot a large portion of the beginning of Sony E3 press conference was them showing some of their TV and entertainment functionality. The PR helped gamers forget about all that, so people see it as, “OMG OLOL PS4 HARDCORE GAMERS AND XBOX FOR TV… AHAHA LOLOL”

Meanwhile, those same people pretend that Microsoft’s ENTIRE E3 was focused on nothing but games.

  • Vince

“…will be available for free with Xbox Live Gold memberships…”

    Oxymoron?

    • Mystictrust

Nope. I suppose you could call it an oxymoron if you only pay for Xbox Live Gold for the fitness program, but a lot of people will be paying for the Gold and it will be for multiplayer gaming. Therefore, since you’re already paying for gold for other stuff, the Fitness program is FREE with the membership you already have. As in, nothing extra to pay.

  • John Smith

i remember when we use to buy gaming consoles to game lol

    • Sledg

I remember when we used phones to only call people.

      • John Smith

        i still do lol

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

I guess you didn’t have a dreamcast then. I remember how cool it was to get on the internet on a game system for the first time. as long as games are the primary focus, which is questionable with the ONE, then I am ok with extra stuff added on to the system.

      • John Smith

I did the day of release btw, but had no internet

      • John Smith

I did get a dreamcast the day it came out if I remember correctly 9-9-99…loved that system…just never had internet

  • ungeheier

Major, how will pricing be handled on this? Will it be one pass per Xbox One or will each user have to pay for a Fitness Pass?

    • GmailIsDown

i thought this was free? (i.e. included with gold membership)

      • Sledg

        It’s free until Dec 2014.

        • GmailIsDown

          oh i see

        • Mystictrust

Well, technically, free until January 2015. You get the entire month of December 2014 free, subscriptions for unlimited access start the following month

    • Boss Saucier

All purchases on an Xbox One will be accessible by any account on the same console. This is known.

      • Roberto Merino

What you say might have nothing to do with the Xbox fitness pass

    • Klattu

I bet after 2014 it becomes micro transaction based… First three videos are free, next five cost $10.00 or basic workouts are free but more advanced stuff is charged.
I bet they are just not sure how to price it at this point and want to see how popular it can be when it is free. I suspect they throw up a bunch of different ways to pay and see what sticks.

      • Mystictrust

I suspect that you are correct. Fine print states that starting January 2015, UNLIMITED access requires a subscription. Nothing has been said about a la carte access or anything like that. Yeah, and it would be smart to make the first video or three free in a program, particularly since there will still be users new to the fitness thing that will not have tried it out during the free year.

      • Liquidfx Xboxdude

that will be ok with me as long as the workouts I pay for give me my moneys worth.

  • GmailIsDown

i think it is pretty cool (and creepy) that my Xbox One will be able to read my heart rate just by using Kinect.

    • evilfangs .

It reads blood flow to your face. Then tries to estimate your heart rate.

    • Roberto Merino

Yeah!, it can even stop it.

      • Liquidfx Xboxdude

        that ish is funny.

  • roozbeh, again

    Off topic but very important,

To everyone else who lives in an unsupported region and or uses an account not from his/hers region,

Go check if you can make any purchases from the store, it seems that after the update there has been an issue that the currency you are using must match your physical location, I must know because it seems we have been locked out from purchasing anything.

The error should be about billing

    • Rafik Bouchaala

I’m currently in Tunisia and I was able to buy few games back in the dashboard beta with currency, well I didn’t buy anything after the update went public. There is always a way to bypass IP check :p if you know what I mean :D

      • roozbeh, again

I know, I use VPN’s all the time (damn you internet censorship), but still kinda wrong to be forced to use a VPN to just buy content.

        • Rafik Bouchaala

does it tell you “this content is not available from you current location”? that problem have been around since the market place launched (first time I experienced it was with gears of war 1 free DLC back in 2006/2007) because some games are ip or region locked (region locked games will give “this game is not compatible with your console region” error) and there is games and content that are region free and ip free. for example I had to go through vpn to buy silent hill downpour when for dead rising 2: off the record I didn’t have to.

          • roozbeh, again

I get an error saying “sorry, your billing address is incorrect.”

The funny thing is I use prepaid money so it is completely unrelated, later on I found a guy who was complaining about it on the forums, oddly enough he was also living where I am living. He used a VPN from the region of his account and it fixed the issue, but now that the website now requires a credit card, that is very time consuming and complex to do on the console for such a simple task of just purchasing.

I guess I have to take another businesses trip to the USA again. ‘sigh’

          • Liquidfx Xboxdude

where are you located? if they do that here in the USA i will be p’od.

          • roozbeh, again

In Iran with an American account.

          • Liquidfx Xboxdude

hopefully they will fix the problem quickly.

          • Liquidfx Xboxdude

also, why are people downvoting so much? lol its crazy.

  • Dennis Crosby

I see people still trying to bash Microsoft. If you haven’t notice there not just making a gaming console.there make a device that everyone can use.if you don’t like that don’t buy it but complaint about it is pointless. Xbox one is doing good by me.

    • Death Dealer

I agree and I’m pretty excited about the streaming BC (though I’d rather see a local add-on to the Xbox One TBH). Can’t wait to see how fast they implement this.

    • trickbfc1988

Exactly my thoughts the xbox one and the name of it shows that the purpose of it is to be a console that has everything in one its not just a gaming console anymore so people need to stop crying lol

  • Roberto Merino

VERY NICE, but please, keep pushing on the hardcore games and don’t end betraying gamers like Nintendo did with the Wii, or you will suffer the consecuences like Nintendo is suffering now with the WiiU.

  • CA$H

gamers are lazy stop trying to push stuff for people moms to play their xbox instead

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

this is something that i will actually like that isn’t games. now if only they would add Zumba for free as well.

  • fastharryDOTcom

if you ask me, a gaming consoles ability to do more than just game is the true test of its technological prowess and power.

Thank God gaming fanboys weren’t in control of smart phone development….we’d still be talking on 2 cans and a string.

    • DarnedNut

Hey! Don’t insult the glorious 2 cans and string technology! I remember when it got me laid after calling my girlfriend and now I’m not a virg….wait nevermind ^_^

  • Hogwild333

It would be great if this fitness program would harass you into working out. So when Kinect sees you enter the room and sit down on the sofa, then Jillian Michaels would pop up and start yelling at you about how lazy you are.

    • Nathanzz

Does Kinect have snack recognition too? “Hey you! I see that cupcake. Put it down now!”

  • martin_m95

    off topic
theres only 3 days for raimbow six vegas to be fixet CMON MONEYSOFT MAKE IT REGION FREE

    • roozbeh, again

What error are you exactly getting?

      • martin_m95

this item is not available from your current location

    • Ivanx360xpira

man, I gave up. First, Fable III and now Rainbow 6!

As MJ (rest in peace) would say “All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us”

      Free “Sometimes” with Gold!

  • Volitar Prime

Finally a good use for the new Kinect!

  • baconcheeswhiz89

can i play this sitting down?

    • roozbeh, again

Jillian Michael would not approve, you don’t want to p!ss her off

  • http://twitter.com/rogXue rogXue

“Xbox Fitness can read your heart rate without a monitor, see which muscles are most engaged by measuring the power, force and transfer of weight in your body, and track the quality of your performance by measuring your balance, tempo and form.”

In other words, Kinect will give you Cancer. I kid of course (I hope), this is awesome news.

  • Justin McFarland

    Free P90X? Don’t mind if I do!

  • Swat

“The future of fitness is on Xbox One”.

    Oh shut up Microsoft.

    • Mystictrust

I dunno, I thought it sounded kind of futuristic that a device at home in front of my TV could monitor my pressure points, my heart rate, and if I am doing a workout correctly.

    • Ivanx360xpira

yep…the future of fitness is on a gym…and always will be…

but maybe the future of gamers fitness will be on xbox…

      • Joseph

        or at home..

  • evilfangs .

Stan Helsing is free on the Xbox dashboard. It’s a movie and kind of looks like scary movie type deal.

Edit: Preview looks decent. Going to give this a watch tonight I think.

    • Joseph

haha now I know not to go near it! :P

  • Wartak

next games with gold? halo 3 and bomberman?

    • evilfangs .

Might & Magic Clash of Heroes on the 1st of Oct and no one knows the second free game in October. Halo 3 will obviously be the free game we will get.

  • http://deulus.com/ Derek D

HEY, if anyone at Microsoft is reading this, now might be a good time to drop the Kinect and price of the Xbox One. With less then 2 months to go, I imagine those sales numbers aren’t looking too great according to internet polls. I love my 360 so so much but I still cannot commit while the Kinect is included.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

why you guys keep coming up with that stupid idea. wait for a price drop but dont ask for any feature drop

    • HGamer

I think M$ is doing the right thing to keep Kinect bundled. By guaranteeing that every player will have a Kinect, developers will be more encouraged to add Kinect features in their game. Just like many Wii games using Wiimote & Nunchuck.

      • Dylan

That’s why games like Crimson Dragon aren’t even using it anymore right?

That’s why Ryse isn’t using it as the central piece anymore?

It’s going to be the exact same as the last gen, hardly used here and there, because it is a largely ineffective gameplay device.

        • roozbeh, again

The wii nun chuck was a successbebecause it was bundledwith every wii. Now that the kinect is being bundledwith every xbox one I expect the same success

          • Dylan

The Kinect 1.0 sold 25 million units. That’s a success.

What does that have to do with the games?
Developers *know* that Kinect 2 is going to be with every Xbox.

Yet ALL of them are backing out of substantial support, and using it in very insequential ways.

          • roozbeh, again

75 Million xbox 360s vs 25 million kinects.

If I were a dev I wouldn’t thinkit would be a wise investment

  • GmailIsDown

Microsoft has been issuing massive amount of permanent console and account bans to people who used accounts in other region to get free games, including their main accounts with game purchases. This is why an all digital future is not good. Your digital goods are worthless, once the company decides to take them away.

My account is not affected though this really made me want to cancel my Xbox One preorder. I was excited that Xbox One will not be region locked, but if just by creating an account in another region can get you permanently banned (apparently it is in their T&C), with all your digitally purchased games, account credits, and gold membership taken away just like that, I’d rather stick with Sony just to be safe. I have two Sony accounts, one in US and one in Japan, and have purchased digital goods in both regions. And if I do it on my Xbox? Microsoft will “burn my house”, taking away everything I have bought before and rendering my console useless.

I don’t want to risk that.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

follow the rule and nothing bad will happen. for the record “sony” and “safe” doesn’t belong in the same sentence

      • GmailIsDown

I am upset because the fact that Xbox One is not region locked becomes meaningless to me if I cannot create and use accounts from different regions, without risking getting everything I have bought from Microsoft nuked, and Microsoft is so trigger happy killing off people’s accounts and consoles permanently.

        • Some guy

Yea it sucks, I was planning to buy Virtual-On on the japan marketplace, guess I won’t try that.

          • Bennijin

Yeah, I did that months ago along with Virtua Striker and years ago for the JP version of Symphony of the Night.
Hoping the crackdown doesn’t catch me considering I did actually buy points. Still, this is why region locks are bulls**t.

Furthermore regarding those free games on other marketplaces, and people making Hungarian accounts for cheaper GoD games, this could have been circumvented by MS not accidentally making games free when they weren’t supposed to, and by making regional pricing FAIR.
When a GoD game is £10 in the UK and £3.40 in Hungary or the Czech Republic or Slovenia etc. and prepaid cards bought in the UK are valid in all of those regions, with the downloads working in all of those and some in the US, is anyone surprised some took advantage?
I was strongly tempted myself. You know what stopped me? Hard drive space.

This went on for MONTHS, Microsoft. MONTHS. Banning people’s consoles for your regional staff’s constant mistakes and punishing them for seeking better deals (YET STILL GIVING YOU MONEY) was too far, TOS or no TOS I don’t give a toss. A warning, making users aware that you knew they’d been “naughty” for giving into temptation, would have been more than fair. Eve ate the apple.

Instead you should have been looking at why people were tempted to seek the cheap and free games.

        • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

im not quite sure of the rule conserning your concern and i truly understand that you dont want to loose anything. But x360 and xone are two different set of rule. Games are region free on Xone, so what’s the problem ? I guess that your particular case if very out of the “standard” setup, and im not sure what is the benifit you are trying to achieve. That being said, if it’s something you want and some other device offer that, well go ahead and change. Your soul won’t burn in hell because you buy a product that better suit you.

          • GmailIsDown

games are region free on Xbox One but the policy will be the same. your main gametag will get permanently banned, losing everything, by playing out of region content, even if you have paid for it. and you will get permanently banned by having the same content played on different consoles under different tags, even if your tags are on the same region.

i think this podcast talked about this issue. they got information from various xbox support people. skip to around 33 minutes or something.
            http://www1milliongamerscorecom/2013/09/gamerscore-popcast-106.html

i will definitely not be getting an Xbox One and will not look back. will not deal with a malicious, trigger happy company like this.

          • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

i still don’t get the drama, but emotion are personnal so its good to see your point of view. good info.

before crying out loud, i would wait for the console to even launch before proclaiming everyone will get ban for various bogus reason.

I see very good reason to not allow a free for all on region on a company point of view.

          • GmailIsDown

not sure if i have made myself clear. my reason of getting out of microsoft all together is not because of the region restriction. i am upset, yes, but rules are rules. i decide to get out of it because recently microsoft has been banning people’s accounts and consoles permanently left and right without warning, for reasons that have never been explicitly stated in their ToS. there *are* many people who got banned for having account in other region and purchasing free games from it. there are people who got banned for getting one month gold membership via an url on their own website. these are the people who invested a lot on their systems, and all of a sudden they are left with nothing. microsoft does not care about their customers. and i don’t want to be a customer of such a company.

          • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

i would rather see a much more severe banning policy on cheater since this is the only thing that really affect my game experience. From glitcher, to lag switch user and to exploiter.

          • Bennijin

Cheaters slip by unscathed yet people who give Microsoft slightly less money get banned. I DON’T UNDERSTAND.

          • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

they are just easier to caught. While cheater cheat on developper’s flaw mostly, which is not really microsoft’s problem at first. But it is still agaisnt there terms of use so i want to see more ban

          • GmailIsDown

i want to see more bans too. i wish microsoft permanently bans every single user’s consoles and accounts who shared games with other people, played games using multiple accounts, played out of region content, cursed people online, got free gold trials, boosted achievements by using 2 accounts at the same time, used exploits in games (such as in GTA5), played games before release day, etc. after all, these are all against ToS.

no i’m not being sarcastic. microsoft has been pushing really hard to drive people away from their new console since the Xbox One announcement. and i am really looking forward to see the end result of their hard work.

      • Monstrous Tard

These games were listed as “Free”, gamers did nothing more than take advantage of MS mistake and now they are being punished for it.

    • Flawless

its alright MS is only alienating another big part of their fanbase by banning them for something that was posted all over the internet even on deal sites. my console is banned and unless it gets reversed (i know it wont) ill be moving to the dark side 100% instead of getting both.

alot of hardcore gamers that buy a huge amount of games got hit with this wave and theres only more bans to come 2 months before launch, good job MS!

      • roozbeh, again

Wait you got banned for that free game?

        Oh Sh!t, i’m screwed

    • roozbeh, again

What? are you kidding me MS?

    • roozbeh, again

Can I have a link please? I feel that it is BS because I am affected and I have not been banned.

    • roozbeh, again

Never mind, I read the N4G thing myself.

      That was truly… fake

      • GmailIsDown

Go to any achievements website, deal sites, Neogaf forum, Xbox official forum, etc. And you will find plenty of people getting consol and account permanently banned because of this, and the reason being “Utilizing fraudulent methods in order to obtain region-specific marketplace content or circumvent regional pricing”.

        still think it’s fake?

        • roozbeh, again

Yep, until I see some photos I ain’t buying it

          • Monstrous Tard

            http://wwwneogafcom/forum/showthread.php?p=81987433
two people that posted pics of their bans on that page, probably more if you look farther.

          • roozbeh, again

it seems he got banned for sharing a season pass

          • Flawless

you sound like all those people who were in denial the past 2 weeks and saying the people who got banned were “doing something else” lets just say alot of them changed their stance on thursday when a bunch of em got their ban LOL.

ive been with xbox for 7 years and never had so much as an infraction and my console got banned on thursday.

im still waiting to see if the hammer also hits my main account which has over 5k worth of digital goods purchased on it and $100 left in the wallet.

          • roozbeh, again

Everyone is saying something different on the internet, I don’t know what to believe anymore. I haven’t been banned and that is all I care about right now. But I feel for you, best of luck in the future

          • Flawless

well i guess youre not looking in the right places *shrugs*

      • Monstrous Tard

Man people are claiming to have been banned for this on forums all over the net, a lot of them are long time members. There is a lot of BS that sprouts up on N4G, but this is real.

        • roozbeh, again

Internet forums are never a hood source unless they provide some circumstantial evidence as in videos, photos, etc.

      • Dylan

        You were saying?

        http://kotaku com/xbox-360-owners-banned-for-downloading-free-games-1430436443

Oh and this too (where support lied about it)
        https://twitter com/XboxSupport1/status/375263771230339072

        • roozbeh, again

Well they shouldn’t buy stuff with a fake account

    • HGamer

This happened in my region too.
Someone opened foreign account to download those “sudden free” games. And got all his accounts banned afterwards.
M$ cannot ban him for the free download (It’s M$’s mistake marking those games free, not player’s). So the official reason of the ban was “opening foreign account”.
Not until I read that story did I knew “opening foreign account” was in fact forbidden in the ToS.

  • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

no surprise about that news, was pretty predictable but any good news are worth taking

  • Morris ヅ

why you guys moan remember microsoft are investing $1Bill in games so have faith.
this is for people that wants it the more features the merrier.
    X1 all day for me.

    • Flawless

of course they are but then 4 years down the line once they got everyone sucked in theyll cut back on the exclusives AGAIN.

      • Morris ヅ

1bill is 1000 mill thats not petty cash msft knows gamers are there most important consumer so there not gona mess up this time.

        • Flawless

“msft knows gamers are there most important consumer so there not gona mess up this time.”

yes thats why they are on a mass banwave right now 2 months before X1 launch, makes sense *sarcasm*

          • Morris ヅ

what banwave? bring me up to speed?

          • Monstrous Tard

MS made a few games on the marketplace available for free by mistake and are now banning the users that downloaded them and their consoles.

          • Morris ヅ

iv download some of them i aint banned.

          • Monstrous Tard

Yeah same here, dunno if it’s coming tho.

          • Morris ヅ

            hmmm

          • Flawless

just because you arent banned yet means nothing. the first bans were reported on the 14th and i didnt get mine until 2 days ago, enjoy!

          • Morris ヅ

            lol

          • boe2

You act as if they WANT you (cheater/software pirate) as customer.

          • Flawless

how is dling something free being a “cheater/software pirate” maybe you should read into things before you speak on them.

    • peba12

Oh poor boy…one day you will see this is a big mistake.

      • Morris ヅ

im sure you was a mistake in life.

        • peba12

    MS, Take my Money!

  • evilfangs .

    Hahahaha.

  • roozbeh, again

    You know what, f*ck you

  • roozbeh, again

What the hell does that even mean? Your paying for the console so no feature is technically free

  • Flawless

    of course not,this is MS.

  • Bennijin

My initial reaction was that of “oh for f***’s sake” and “is it so much to ask for a videogame console that plays videogames” but you know what? This is a good thing, I’ll give it a go for nothing if I pick up an XB1 within the timeframe.

The real test will be in January 2015 when we see how many people are willing to pay for it on top of Gold membership.
