North American Area One Events Start Today

The Area One part of the North America Xbox One tour kicks off today in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I put together the Web Spreadsheet embedded below (full screen version) with dates/locations of the Tour.

This is a great opportunity to see Xbox One and try out the new controller and some of the games.
Admission is free but will be on a first come, first serve basis (and you must be 18 or over to attend due to the content being available for play.)

While I can’t personally attend each event , I will be hitting Chicago on October 19th and 20th, Atlanta on the 25th, Phoenix on Nov. 9th and 10, and San Francisco on November 17th. Here is the full list of these locations as well as the Microsoft Store Events I’ll be hosting. If there is not an Area One stopping near you, don’t forget to check out the Xbox One Tour page on Xbox.com for additional “Test Drive” events that will also give you a hands on opportunity.

Note: You can use your keyboard to navigate the embedded spreadsheet above, or open it full screen for a better view of the schedule and to view it on your mobile device.

    Great list Major!

  • Titan Games

Looking forward an event like this in Brazil too ! o/

  • Douglas Bailey

can’t believe its only coming to NY a day before launch lol

    • Sledg

Maybe they plan on having a huge launch party there.

  • ungeheier

There are reports that the truck version of the X1 events only show 1 game per location. Will this be the case at the Area One events or will we see more than one game per day?

    • jordanariel

As i said above i was at area one (philadelphia) and the games i saw were:

      Dead Rising 3
      Forza
Killer Instinct (Jago, Glacius, thunder, saberwulf playable)
      Ryse (multiplayer)
      Zoo Tycoon
      Max: Curse of Brotherhood
Kinect Sports (played the wave race game, which was fun)
      Lococycle

They also had a DJ and lots of people around to help out and talk to.
From what i was told it is all the games i mentioned each day.

The only game i did not play yet was Zoo Tycoon, which i will check out on Sunday when i go back. (i have family wedding related stuff fri and sat. otherwise i would go back earlier.)

I heard that the truck has almost made it but is now lost due to all the U-turns it made.

When are they (ever) going to announce a free game for the North American Xbox One?

      Entitlement…such a pauperdrag.

        Opinions…like ___holes.

    Correct.

    • Film Fan99

That’s pretty weak. No Area One event in Canada. You just made my purchase decision much easier.

The location of the Chicago event on xbox.com lists the incorrect address (it lists 220 E Chicago, which is the location of the MCA, not the warehouse). You should get someone to change it.

  • Kaiju of the Grotto

No Vegas Major? 1st drink on me!

  • Reinier Martinez

Based on the list you can easily assume the launch event will take place in Times Square in NY as they did with the Xbox and Kinect, the 360 launch was
at the Edwards Air Force Base in the Mojave Desert… :)

Will defiently have to try to make it out to one of the AZ events as its 15 mins from me as who can say no to meeting the Major.

    • Does Not Equal

If you’re going to this event, go defiantly.

  • Alex Boro

I really want to go to this and I’m 15, but I’m not old enough to go. Can you give me a pass Major Nelson?

Just got home from the first Philadelphia, PA event. My roommate and I had a great time. Ryse co-op arena mode was a LOT of fun and looked great. (didnt have campaign available to play) Dead Rising 3 and Killer Instinct were both absolutely SICK. The only Kinect game i played was the wave racing game within kinect sports and even that was a lot of fun. The new Kinect sensor is way better than the 360′s version. I dont care much for racing games but the cars in Forza look lncredible (mclaren drool) and the vibration feedback for forza was sweet. I beat my roommate to death with the Killer Instinct characters they had available. Max (curse of brotherhood) was very old school platformer. (but pretty)

Didnt get a chance to play zoo tycoon. Going back on sunday to play the games again (i want more ryse and dead rising especially)

Any game with water the water looked amazing. Everything looked amazing. I did see a tiny bit of lag in dead rising 3 once. not sure if the build is finished or what. Our timed demo’s pretty much were focused on combining vehicles and causing as much death as possible.

This was a very fun night. Though it would have been cool if they gave away xbox one shirts.

No… i am not a Microsoft employee and i have not worked in any sort of video game sales in well over a decade. However if Microsoft does want to give me a job…

P.S. Yesterday i went to the last event and they had a playable demo of Crimson Dragon. I am so freaking IN LOVE its not even funny. And i want to play more ryse (and dead rising campaign), and strangely enough i enjoyed that kinect wave racing game to the point where depending on price point i would buy kinect sports rivals)

Where’s Florida? Thought that was also supposed to be included.

“you must be 18 or over to attend due to the content being available for play”
Just came from the Philadelphia event. There were a lot of underage kids there, like 8-10 years old, playing the M-rated games.

  • Karl Cramer

You don’t. You just show up. First come, first served.

  • Film Fan99

The messaging from Sony on PS4 has been crystal clear from day one. I do not need hands on with it. Microsoft, well we all know the 180s that have happened and all of the lies. Gotta love Ken Loebb and his BS response in the latest Edge magazine along with Phil Spensor. “Oh we always planned indies having access to One” Really? It only took you 3 months and to see E3 presales of PS4 whipping you that suddenly you forgot to mention it? Come on. Do we look that stupid. Regardless, what exactly is the One now? I need to see it in action to decide whether I will get one along with my PS4.

Larry… can you see about adding “San Diego” to the list of places to host one of these events (you can kick-off the tour right here – or just replace L.A. with S.D…. since the location there hasn’t even been decided, which isn’t surprising)?! San Diego is much nicer than L.A. (the air is certainly better), and there’s a lot of nice places to visit while you’re here (if you have the time)!!!
