I can’t wait for PS4 to launch so these trolls will be gone. If you do not like XBOX ONE why are you here? Go play on the PS4 and be happy, maybe Sony will quit losing money long enough to survive another couple years.

    • usrev

someone is mad the ps4 is going to outsell xbox.

      • John Titus

Can I borrow your crystal ball? Only someone insecure would come to an MS employees blog and pretend to see the future and troll everyone.
Your insecurity is showing. Enjoy your no MP3, No audio CD, No DLNA and 1 game worth playing launch. Greatness Awaits dingleberry so go find it!

        • usrev

its not trolling if it’s fact, look at preorder data. ps4 is outselling xbox one IN THE USA. Europe (except the UK) always leans sony over MS. the only markets the xbox has ever done well in is the US and UK. they are at best, tied with sony in their best market.

also, who cares about mp3? game consoles are for games.

        • ryder4life22187

lol MP3? I can’t believe people still use MP3. I’d rather use FLAC than below standard MP3 quality.

          • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

lol flac is a trend, mp3 is still the most used format and at 256kbps you cannot hear the difference unless you are a dog or a cat. plus, home theater are optimised to decode mp3, not flac

      • slasaru

I think it is not, because there’s tooo many casual gamers which will buy xbox because of kinnect and TV. You shouldnt underestimate them.

    • MrRadiolips

I still have xbox 360 so im sure we are allowed to state our opinions about the future. How else is Microsoft going to know what the consumers want if we dont express how we feel.

      • Master Troll

Even if you told them they still wouldn’t get the message I don’t even think they care anymore

  • Mark Capell-helm

dont know if anyone else has spotted this but the games for gold page info has changed from games to the value of (im uk not us hence the money) £30 one XBLA and one GOD this changed to just games to the value of £30 now the statement showeing how much seems to have disappeared as well …just saying the fine print does get read by some

  • Pasajero82

    The horror!!!

  • CDMAss

This company does not care about gamers (us) anymore. And I think it is all our(customers) fault because we have been blind supporting this company for too long. They think we are easy, and that’s true. So instead of wasting times here maybe we should all move on to a new place? A place that actually care about gamers. I’m going for PS4 next gen, I just want to live a happy gaming life. This company is holpless.

    • hoggys2much

Too blooming right. MS is just beyond all hope but you should expect that from a company that does not give a flying fig about it’s customers and hires and listens to that total clown in Mattrick and has this waste of oxygen Larry The Lamb in a spokes person. A guy who is so far out of touch with reality it is laughable.,

This months choice of G4G games proves that MS doesn’t care about us.

  • ZZyZer

    Gamers demand KAMEO in December!

    • weirdphil

Go to your local used video game store and pick it up for $2.

  • Sledg

LOL, they offer 2 free games and people go crazy! Oh well, most of them never come to his site any way but love to follow Larry’s twitter so they can troll him every time he posts on his blog.

    The importance of native resolution

There’s a further angle to this resolution problem. It’s not just a matter of doubling the pixel count. It’s the clarity of each pixel, too. The issue here involves native panel resolutions. Flat panels including LCD and OLED screens have an absolutely fixed number of pixels, unlike old school CRT screens.

That means there’s just a single ideal resolution the panel can run at, only one setting at which images are shown pixel for pixel. Before the pedants drop a bomb in the comments below, pixel doubling could be argued to be an exception. But pixel doubling involves factor-of-four jumps in resolution.

“…there’s no way round the problems you incur when attempting to spread one pixel over one and a bit pixels. You will always lose some sharpness and clarity”
Put another way, 720p to 1080p is not pixel doubling, so it’s irrelevant to the PS4 vs Xbox One debate.

Anyway, most big HDTVs are now 1080p, not 720p. So not only do you lose pixels when dropping down from 1080p to 720p when gaming. You also lose clarity of individual pixels, since at 720p you have to use an algorithm to interpolate larger pixels over a non factorial number of smaller pixels. It’s basically a horrible kludge that results in soft, slightly blurry images.

This applies to an extent even if you do the interpolation in the game engine and actually output 1080p to the screen. There’s been talk, for instance, of the Xbox One rendering Battlefield 4 at 900p internally and then upscaling the output. But there’s no way round the problems you incur when attempting to spread one pixel over one and a bit pixels. You will always lose some sharpness and clarity.

    • gamer04

You are right, but ultimately wrong. The xbox 1 upconvertd so you arent losing this”clarity”. It is still a lower res upconverted so not quite as gooas 1080 but you won’t get that non native resolution effect you are talking about.

I’ve been looking for this web in order to say my opinion about November’s Games with Gold.

When Games with Gold was announced at the E3, was announced like a service in which the gamers were going to receive games such as Halo 3 and Assassins Creed 2. Then we discover that THAT was not the truth. Microsoft offers us in June an Arcade Game that disappointed a lot of us, and after Assassins Creed. On July 1st an Arcade, 2nd a game on demand. And the same in September and October. And now you release these two Arcade games which I see as a mock from Microsoft to their customers.

This was not announced, was announced that you were going to give us 2 games on demand each month. That’s implicit in the announcement of the E3, ’cause the 2 games of the example are games on demand. We accepted one arcade and one game on demand. We accept that the game will be old. But this month games are unacceptable.

If Microsoft wants to do the correct thing should apologize for this, and replace the 2nd Arcade by a good (better if it’s great after this big mistake) game on demand. The 2nd Arcade can be the 1st game of December, no problem…

The last thing I want to say is that I hope that somebody that can make changes in this service will take a minute to read my words, ’cause I’m Spanish and for me it has taken a lot of time expressing my impressions about the service (it’s not as easy as write it in your own language). After all I want to apologize for my poor level of English.

Just how much better will PS4 games look and why?

What was once a rumour is now confirmed. At least some cross-platform games will run at a higher resolution on the Sony PlayStation 4 than on Microsoft’s Xbox One.

But why is this happening and should it influence your decision over which of the next-gen game boxes to buy?

The confirmation comes in the form Call of Duty: Ghosts. Developer Infinity Ward says it will run at 1080p on the PS4 but only 720p on the Xbox One. For clarity, that’s 1,920 by 1,080 pixels versus 1,280 by 720 pixels.

Put another way, that’s two million pixels on the PS4, just one million on the Xbox One. Quite literally, the PS4 will offer double the graphical detail.

    Does the difference matter?

The first question is whether this actually matters. The answer is yes, it matters. Admittedly, some people are more sensitive to graphical fidelity than others. But double the detail is a substantial difference by any metric.

That said, when there is a difference with a given game, it may not always be 720p vs 1080p. Hold that thought.

What’s important to understand up front is that 1080p on an HDTV doesn’t outstrip the acuity of the human eye at normal viewing distances. This is what Apple means when it talks of ‘retina’ displays. It means from normal viewing distances, the human eye doesn’t resolve individual pixels.

But if you have decent vision, a 1080p HDTV isn’t a ‘retina’ display. Which is why 4K displays looks miles better than 1080p displays. And in turn 720p doesn’t look as sharp as 1080p.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

go check the comparison video on battlefield, there are honestly almost no difference. Plus, i personally prefer the crisper feel image the xbox is giving. and it’s not like game in 6 month are going to be any different on both console

      • MrRadiolips

Why spend more money for a console if it isnt as quality as the cheaper product. Why give excuses if knowing you are fighting for a lower standard..

        • WARLORD

Tell me about it all these people say well it upconversts , so it looks just as good.. That like say a upcoverted DVD player is as good as a blue Ray player….

      • Lloytron

If theres no difference, then cost is the only factor worth worrying about.

    • Riddick Snipes

I am real upset about the cod news. The only hope I have is that I know u can have a somewhat bland 1080p sometimes.similar to say an xbla title such as perfect dark or ridge racer where they r actually in 1080p but don’t have the clarity of 720p. I just hope in the next 3 weeks they come forward and say the one will have 1080p native for ghosts. But its a long shot.

      • abeeest

        dewd,,,, get a PS4

    • Does Not Equal

Did you just copy and paste an article from elsewhere?

    • slasaru

All this happened because MS was planning to compete 4 gigs RAM PS4, but S ony changed plans and it was too late for MS. Also, because of mr Mattrick they planned a media hub not hardcore box from the very beginning.

I admit its difficult to get the power to equal ps4 or even impossibru, but on the other hand, there will be awesome exclusives. I am buying xbox one because of quantum break and future forza horizon. And dead rising as a launch game is excellent.

So no sense crying over the spilt milk (xbox one power). But they could really improve the live and games situation.

Again, one the other hand, have you read the news on Sony losses, which are contiuous recently and MS having profits. So its not for us to teach them business. But their current business model may not work next gen

  • weirdphil

Cool, two more games I already bought years ago and bought all the DLC for. We ever going to get some more games that weren’t released on XBLA, like Sleeping Dogs, or Gears of War Judgement?

    • Riddick Snipes

      I would think not.

      • weirdphil

I mean, it’s not like I’m begging for stuff, right. I would compare this to buying one of those coupon books the kids sell for school fundraisers only to find out half the coupons are expired already. I’ve got tons of games from PS+ over the last year, many that I only downloaded to add to my library and haven’t even attempted to play yet, but at least it was new stuff. Heck, the Simpsons Arcade game was free for + members on it’s release day.

  • a fat mess

The only one of these GWG games I’ve even downloaded was Assassin’s Creed 2. The rest are games I either already own or tried and didn’t like, or are games I have no interest in.

  • MaximMillion

Gotta say that this months games are just cr@p, Major.
Free games like that don’t improve the quality of XBLGold, in fact it’s pretty much laughable.
Cr@p games like Kelflings should be free anyway. Instead of GWG you guys should just have a large free games library.

  • Xhawk27

You people realize that you get to keep these games after you quit your subscription. So you want new $50 games to be free? If you want to rent games go use gamefly it’s only slightly more money than some other services and you get to choose the game.

    • Lloytron

Does Gamefly have an option where you can keep the game as long as you like, and also keep on renting new titles every month, and build up a huge collection of rented games?

No, it doesn’t. Face it, PS+ is far, far superior to GoG. Why are you trying to kid yourself that it isn’t?

Proof of this? Scan all the comments here and see how many people were hoping that these games would come up on this scheme. Answer = Zero.

      • Lloytron

Lol, love the downvotes for simply stating facts!

  • Lloytron

Just because the games cost $20 doesn’t mean they are worth $20.

  • Lloytron

    Seriously? Grow up.

  • Roberto Merino

Doh!, i wish i had a golf account.

  • slasaru

You do not understand the people: we AGREE to have them rented but let these be decent games or even a choice.

  • xbox_gamer

Even the year old ,some say not next gen, wiiu does 1080p and they have more 1080p games than xbox1

    • evilfangs .

The Wii U also have more 1080p games then PS4, so what exactly is your point?

      • xbox_gamer

If you played the wiiu you’ll know.

      • Some guy

The 360 has more 1080p then the One too.

  • leandre

I’m not talking about PSN, I’m talking about the FRAUD of Games with Gold.

You can’t announce a service with 2 only examples of AAA old games on demand and say “play up to £30 worth of TOP titles” and give this arcade games. Neither of them are games on demand, are not top titles and are not AAA. And that is called FRAUD.

  • Lloytron

When this was announced at E3 a big noise was made about it and the announcement only namechecked two games. They said they would release 2 games per month for free “Including games like Assassins Creed 2 and Halo 3″.

The implication there being the quality of the games would be like the quality of those two titles.

Imagine if they had launched it saying “Including games like Kelflings and Iron Brigade”. They’d have been laughed off stage!

  • xbox_gamer

I know this : I love my windows phone. I’m glad MS is buying Nokia, I won’t buy any other phone unless it’s a windows phone. Unless of course MS stops making a phone OS. I’ve played games, checked my xbox , used smart glass, changed my avatar on my phone, and texted, and still have great battery life. By the way the free games for windows phone are better than Games w/ Gold and there is achievements

    • GmailIsDown

i wouldn’t be so sure about it. Nokia was the only company that had put some real effort into supporting windows phone. Microsoft did not support it. all it did was to delay and hamper the development of this ecosystem every step of the way. i don’t want to re-iterate how badly microsoft has screwed the MOGA Pro controller support certification process. and after Karl Stricker left, Microsoft pretty much stopped supporting Xbox Live enabled games all together. i am sure you are aware of the massive delistings of Xbox Live enabled games in the recent months. when there are issues that need updating (such as changing IAP from Microsoft Points to Microsoft Currency), or sometimes for no apparently reason, Microsoft simply delists the games instead of allowing the developers to update and re-publish their games under Microsoft Studios. developers are not informed by this. some fought for it and had to re-publish them as indies (such as the Chickens Can’t Fly developer). many didn’t bother.

and unlike Xbox 360, when a game gets delisted on WP store, you won’t be able to download it again.

after Nokia’s mobile department got eaten by Microsoft I really have no confidence on Microsoft’s continuous support of ecosystem. they don’t have a good track record. and i feel that this will just end up like Zune and GFWL. I have a Lumia 920 and love it, but i would be hesitant to get another Windows Phone after they become Microsoft branded.

  • paul rolland

More false advertising by Microsoft, Look you’ll get Halo 3 and Crackdown and awesome games like that, well for the first 2 months. Look how awesome Battlefield 4 is on Xbox oh wait that’s the PC footage. I loved 360 but I really cant trust Microsoft anymore, you guys have lost focus on what the Xbox was. You know who watches E3 gamers who know there stuff, saying things like rocket science will no impress us we know how console and PC work. Try investing money back into game studios like you did at the start of 360 instead of throwing them away like you did with Mistwalker. Sadly tho I feel that you don’t care about games anymore Xbox one is design to be a media center for TV and Films

    • AC130

My main worry is that Xbox One will be exactly like the Xbox 360 with occasional awesome sales but 80% of the time terrible repeat sales or items sales. Not forgetting the really bad GonD pricing especially for countries outside the US.

    • Guest

Looks at facebook page…yeah a pauperfanboy, just as I thought. LOL bye!

      • paul rolland

I love all 3 systems and PC gaming, Urzusix on PSN Urzu Seven on steam and Live, somthing wrong with playing more than one console

  • Anon

Never tried either game so this works for me. Would rather have had 1 arcade and 1 GoD though. I thought that was what MS was going to be doing.

  • Disturbed_Court_Jester

These are defiantly not “Top Titles”.
On the US page for it, it says:
“grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what.”
I guess that’s suppose to be a jab at PS+.

  • WARLORD

Ya I here you on that. I just got the new gameinformer today its featuring the order 1886 and all I can say is I’m glade I’m getting a ps4 know.. With game like this, infamous, killzone..along with 900p too 1080p 3rd party games. I will be more then happy…

  • Mark Capell-helm

how cool is that something on M$ finally runs over 1080p (posts that is ) rofl
