Arcade, Deal, Game Add-on, Marketplace, Xbox 360 Games On Demand By Larry Hryb, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson

Odd that the next two XBLA games are releasing on Friday instead of Wednesday.

Hey, what’s the deal with the online passes still? Do Games on Demand titles have the pass included or are we still getting charged $10 on top of the game itself while having a chunk of the game unavailable to legitimate customers? I saw WWE 2k14 is going on sale for $20 at Gamestop on black Friday, but I prefer the convenience of downloading the game. So far, it sounds as though I’d be saving $30 on the physical version since I know for a fact the boxes include the pass.

Don’t hold me to this for this specific game, but Games on Demand versions do seem to include an online pass based on my purchases (meaning if you buy the game online you’ll have access to the multiplayer component of the game). Online passes are for people who have bought the game used, so that the company can lose less on used sales. If you own a game digitally, you own the game and no one else will have access to that digital license so that means you shouldn’t need a pass.

Price drop for ALL Xbox 360 DLC’s, please, now that Xbox One’s out. It is long due. ;-)
And here’s a tip for Microsoft: Why not make a 2/3Tb harddrive option for us that buy so many GoD titles,DLC’s etc? The last thing we should do after shelling out far too much, is have far too little storage space for our games. Right? ;-) Thanks (I have a 320Gb drive, and 3 32Gb USB-sticks in now, and still I have to store some titles on my laptop.)

No solid info anywhere on when AC4 will come to on demand. Perhaps it’s being kept quiet because of some secret black Friday digital sale…so as to increase revenue? I don’t know. A little frustrating. Anyone heard anything?

    Burial at SEA woo

  • Stephen Tyas

Hope WWE 2K14 will be available in Australia.

  • Tim

Does anyone else find it strange that there is an add on the marketplace for WWE 14 that, in the small window pane, says “WWE 2K 14 on demand”, but when you click on it there’s nothing but game details and it’s not really on demand? I know this list says it’s out tomorrow, but it’s odd that this misleading ad has been up all week. Also why is this blog the only reliable source for information of what digital content is coming? Wouldn’t they make bigger profits by advertising on the dashboard and raising awareness? I know this is ultimately a small gripe that basically four people care about, but little mix ups and vague things like this happen often.

    • Stephen Tyas

That ad’s not on the Aussie marketplace. I hope that doesn’t mean we won’t get it. It’s 1pm Friday here and no game yet. :(

      • Tim

That’s frustrating for you guys. It’s strange that we have to guess about this kind of thing or just wait and see instead of being given reliable info. I often hear similar things from Aussie gamers – it just seems odd to not be direct with your customers in all markets. Hope you can get it!

        • Stephen Tyas

Thanks. :) I imagine it will be as according to one guy on another forum it’s available digitally for PS3 and NBA 2K14 is out here on GoD which is a good sign I’m sure wrestlinmg is more popular than basketball down here these days.

          • Stephen Tyas

It was released on Games on Demand here in Australia but they had the nerve to charge $10 more than what it sells for in stores.

          • Tim

That’s obnoxious. I just got it today for 60. Fortunately I don’t think the online pass is needed because while I didn’t play a match I could access the online component – so at least there won’t be another extra 10 dollar charge.
Is there a reason games cost more in Australia?
I also hear the ratings are more strict there too.
Good thing is that the game is fun from what I’ve played so far! The movement is more fluid and the graphics a bit more polished (it’s slight, but definitely cleaner looking I think – played CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar and both characters looked great). 30 years of wrestlemania looks like and awesome mode too. I hope you enjoy it!
