“Xbox, record that.”

One of the most exciting features coming to Xbox One is the ability to record your most exciting, impressive, or just plain awesome-looking gaming accomplishments so that you can relive them over and over.

But how do you share those memorable gameplay moments in front of everyone else’s eyeballs? The answer is SkyDrive. Save and edit your clips, then upload to the cloud via SkyDrive on Xbox One.

The best part is, once these clips are in the cloud, you can share them however you like, without any restrictions or limitations.
For more on Game DVR, Upload Studio, and sharing from SkyDrive, head on over to Xbox Wire.

how-to, Xbox One By Jeff Rubenstein

  • Death Dealer

    This is just great!

  • mcmax3000

I remember one game journalist saying on Twitter that if you’re getting an Xbox One, you’re going to want to sign up for Skydrive. Now that post makes a lot more sense.

  • redrabbit333

Pretty pumped that I got the 25gb for signing up for Skydrive early on now! Awesome feature.

    • Anonymous
      • robbcab

You do realize that you don’t install your games to SkyDrive you install them on the 500GB drive in the XB1, right?

        • Michael Burden

I’m sure he does and also sure he is referring to using the Skydrive for video storage since this is the topic of this article/video.

          • redrabbit333

He specifically said that you have to install your games to the hard drive so no he wasn’t referring to the correct thing. Gotta love people who troll comments and end up being completely wrong though.

          • Michael Burden

Sorry, but I see absolutely NO mention of installing games in this particular thread. Where does it say this? Unless you are referring to the blank response to your post, there is no mention of installing games anywhere in this thread, hence my post as I thought they were referring to your post. I was defending your post from perceived trolls

          • Nick Peck

It was deleted obviously. People wouldn’t comment on it if it didn’t exists at some point lol. The guy is a troll anyways so no loss.

          • Mik3t

Unlikely as he said INSTALL GAMES

          • Michael Burden

Where does it say this, as the response to redrabbit333 is blank and I thought the comments were directed at his post because of this.

          • Mik3t

Hes edit it out to avoid embarrasment

      • Mik3t

        wow read before posting lol

    • Rodney

      Same here my friend!

    • Nick Peck

Yah I’m wondering if they will upgrade peoples skydrive accounts at all? I have been a member forever and never got that “upgrade” thing and am still only stuck with 7gb. Not a huge deal but I can’t find any info on it at all since they keep tossing the “25gb skydrive” wording around.

      • MacPh1sto

That free 25 GB upgrade offer has already expired and was limited to “active SkyDrive account holders who had at least one file in their account on or before April 21, 2012″. They also made it so that you had to do the upgrade manually through a link in your SkyDrive account.

  • Nathanzz

Getting a little worried about the length of that Kinect cable. It’s not going to reach from my TV to my AV stack. Major, can you tell us if Kinect will support active repeater extension cords, or would that introduce power or latency issues? Are there going to be any available at or near launch? Or am I really going to have to go out and buy a pair of 12′ HDMI cables just to connect the Xbox One to everything else?

    • Maxx Delusional

I have this worry as well. I have a projector, so all of my AV equipment is on the other side of the room from my TV. Currently I have a USB extension cable and it works for current gen Kinect, but from what I have been reading, the new Kinect has a proprietary connection.

      • Nick Peck

Well, they built it for what 99% of people have considered as a “normal” setup. I’m sure at some point you can buy a cable extender (probably not made by MS) but you will probably have to wait awhile :)

Nice setup though but when you need extra long cables you are at a manu’s mercy. Good luck though, hope you guys can find a solution rather quickly.

        • bombfrog

You can add my name to this list too, I have no AV equipment under my TV, it’s all in a cupboard at the back of the room. I pre-ordered my Xbox One when they first became available but if I can’t find a solution then it’s going straight back to Amazon, which would be a shame as I’ve been a fan since the (actual) Xbox 1.

          • Nick Peck

Pretty unrealistic of you to be honest, no new product will have what you guys are expecting day one. Because you guys chose to have a “different” setup is no companies fault lol. You should have known going with a setup like this that this would be an issue for some / many products.

All of you guys will just have to wait and see if some third party company decides to make cable extensions for the Kinect (if a standard cable wont work right off the bat). Good luck in any case.

          • bombfrog

I’m afraid you’re wrong Nick, I have owned pretty much every popular console ever released, including Atart 2600, Sega Master System, Megadrive (Genesis), Commodore 64, Amiga, Spectrum ZX81, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, PS4 etc. and every single one of them will work with my current setup (even the Wii and Wii U share the same wi-fi sensor bar).

The only console ever released that has to be placed within 9ft of your TV is the Xbox One, so it is Microsoft that is doing something out of the ordinary, not us.

          • bombfrog

I’d also love to know where you get this 1% statistic from? Most modern electronics work with Wi-fi so stashing it all away in a cupboard is becoming very common, at least amongst other people I know.

          • Nick Peck

That’s what I’m saying, because you know several people doesn’t mean 20 million people do it that would warrant companies to plan for this on every launch day. That’s what I’m saying. What you are doing is considered “exotic” and not “standard” which is what most companies accommodate.
They build these things with people using a standard entertainment center under the TV in mind. Granted the Wii U “has it at launch” due to it using the Wii’s stuff is an oddity really, but I’ll give you that one.

How dare you forget the DC?? I loved that system! Also, what I’m getting at, is that everything you mentioned doesn’t have the long cables needed included correct? You have to buy said cables to extend them? That makes my point right there. Sure there are hobbyists out there that over the years got companies to build certain things “such as cable extenders for your needs” but again, you are at the mercy of some company making them first.

MS (or any of these companies) aren’t going to include a 90ft cable just because a few people MIGHT use it for a different type of setup. I’m not arguing with you, but rather just stating that your setup, no matter how common to you is still “not standard” to big companies pushing out products. That is why you have specialty companies that make stuff like this so that it works for your particular needs.

          • bombfrog

“Also, what I’m getting at, is that everything you mentioned doesn’t have the long cables needed included correct? You have to buy said cables to extend them?”

Ah, that’s where I think the confusion lies, I think, I haven’t had to extend any proprietary cables or buy any extra, I just use the supplied cables and have my consoles plugged into a switch box which then has a single very long HDMI cable which goes to the TV.

Admittedly I can’t do this with the older consoles any more but I could do that too with an older switch box and a very long scart/component cable. The only thing I’d struggle to get working is the NES light gun so I’d have to forego playing Duck Hunt……

          • WARLORD

Lets put it like this… The longer the cable the more there is a chance to lose data….. With USB cables, you start to lose data at about 16 feet… So maybe its only 9 feet to insure a good data transfer rate.

          • Nick Peck

Ahh you have a switch box which then runs back. OOOOKKK now that makes more sense lol. I was going to say, none of those systems came with very long cables either so I wasn’t sure what you meant.

Ok I get how you are doing it now (which is what I kind of figured but since it wasn’t mentioned…. yah). Ok. Well yah man, not sure what to tell you. I’m sure the cable will be made or whatever at some point for the new Kinect, unless someone figures out how to get it with something already out.

Ahhh Duck hunt, what a classic lol.

          • Nathanzz

I’m not worried about buying the cable. I’d do it gladly. Problem is that we have no idea if said cable will even exist. That’s what’s worrying us.

          • bombfrog

Damn! I forgot the Dreamcast. How could I forget the Dreamcast??????

          • Nathanzz

I will never forget the Dreamcast, although it was really the Saturn that was the first true love of my life.

          • fastharryDOTcom

            pics or it didn’t happen..

        • bombfrog

Also, @nickpeck:disqus, there are hundreds of people moaning about his on various forums and I know plenty of people who have this setup so I doubt that 99% of people are going to be fine. If it wasn’t a problem then how come companies like Mad Katz manage to sell so many wireless Wii Sensor bars?

          • Rodney

I think what he means is this won’t really effect a large amount of people out there. Sure, it’ll effect some obviously, but not a large section of the market.

          • Nick Peck

The Wii has been out for how long? You won’t see a ton of “custom” cabling and the like right off the bat for a brand new product. Those wireless sensor bars weren’t out day one for the wii either. Seriously, out of hundreds of millions of people buying these things (all systems), people with these types of setups are well below 1%.

Again, stuff will come out at some point when a manu see’s the need / demand for such products.

        • Nathanzz

We’re not saying that MS should provide a 50′ cable out of the box. All I’m saying is that I’d like to see a clear statement from MS on whether Kinect 2.0 supports either extended length cables or active repeaters or not. Knowing one way or the other will help me decide if I have to find a way to redo my living room layout or find a compromise solution. It’s the not knowing that’s annoying.

    • joevsyou

kinect cable is 9 feet. There is no extension, You would have to run long hdmi from the x1

  • Michael Fahey

    Woooooo Jeff!

  • Ivanx360xpira

I´m expecting a great integration with WP. Btw, if anyone is interested Smartglass for XB1 is already available at WP store…

    • Javier Ramírez Rodríguez

      Thanks for the tip, bro.

  • Mik3t

Good news another way to make longer than 5 minute clips aswell by uploading to sky drive and editing them together

  • Skrilla

Your boy @ManaByte wants to know if Twitch streaming is here day 1

    • Mitchell Hall

      It It sure is!

      • Dylan

        No it isn’t…

  • Mitchell Hall

This is so sick. I can’t wait to start sharing my game dvr uploads to facebook. . It’s great! Lining up bright and early on Thursday for my Shiney new day one edition xbox one ;)

  • Jason

I know we will find out soon enough, but is there a way to get the kinect to zoom in instead of having the wide shot when adding commentary in picture and picture? Or, for that matter, when on Skype?

    • Mitchell Hall

Well I know for sure that during Skype calls the kinect zooms in on the person talking and it will follow you if you move around

  • xbox_gamer

Skydrive is great. I use it between my Computer, 360 and my windows phone

    • xbox_gamer

How is that a down vote for any reason what a dummy. So I guess you hate 3 MS products

  • Jason

Twitch tv has a stream of Dead Rising 3 going on right now in case you are interested.

  • Mitchell Hall

It’s crazy how much better xbox one is on an operating system and user interface standpoint than the ps4. 2 more days!!!!!!!!

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

the downvoter should agree that yah, windows 8 have receive more love and developping time than sony’s system. It feels good on a console. I wish i can link to my google drive instead of skydrive

  • Landsharkk

So, no twitch streaming available at launch?

    news(dot)xbox(dot)com/2013/11/xbox-one-twitch-new-details

All that hype and it’s not available until next year? Am I reading the news update correctly?

“We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too. We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready. Our goal is to deliver it during the first part of 2014.”

    • Jason

Well that sucks. I suppose that is why this went up today to say you can still share from SkyDrive but not Twitch.

  • Skrilla

get rid of that $150 kinect 2.0 already it’s a waste of money and you don’t even have 1 kinect game at launch make a bundle without it for $350

    • Landsharkk

Almost every title at launch uses Kinect in some way. The entire UI uses Kinect at a very deeply integrated level.

If you don’t want Kinect, don’t buy an Xbox One. There are plenty of other non-next gen consoles with no forward thinking to choose from.

      • Skrilla

I want an Xbone not an PS3.5
& I’ve never played a game on my 360 thats “Better with Kinect” #FACT

        • DarkMaturus

Skyrim and Mass Effect were easily improved by kinect

          • Ivanx360xpira

Yah…i enjoyed yell stuffs like “grenade” or “Liara singularity!” to my tv…lol

          • beardyman3218

Navigating the menus in skyrim using kinect was a breeze.

          • DarkMaturus

I loved sorting by weight and quick saving by voice :) Ohhh, and telling followers to stop following and queuing them to resume following was cool

        • Juan Romero

You’ve also never played an Xbox One, which uses the Kinect A LOT better than the 360.

One example is that the Xbox One turns off your controllers when you put your controller down to watch a film or whatever, saving your battery life, and turns it back on when you pick it back up.

Plus voice control is infinitely better.

This time round, the console and the games are most definitely “Better with Kinect”. #FACT

    • Does Not Equal

You mean the Kinect that’s packaged into every box sitting in stores for this week’s launch?

    • beardyman3218

Kinect sports day day one, bf4 intergration not to mention being able to sign in just by facial features and voice controls. If you want a cheaper console there are other choices i cant wait to use kinect this week :-)

  • evilfangs .

Xbox one is recording everything isn’t it? Then once you say “Xbox record that” you’re just taken to the upload studio to trim and edit the video.

Know way it just starts recording when you say “xbox record that”.

    • EldritchWarlord

It doesn’t need to record everything for it to achieve this. It just needs to keep a buffer of the last few minutes, then when you say “record that” it captures the buffer and writes it to memory.

  • Elan Gabriel

“…and just like that, it’s already up in the cloud”
Sure, when you have 6.2Mbits/s upload stream like that guy in the video… :P

Nice feature, too bad you can’t directly e-mail the clip. Still, it can be useful while playing KI, you do want to remind your friend about that combo… :)

    • Juan Romero

Why would you email the clip, filling up peoples mail boxes, when you can just link to your SkyDrive?
Are you still living in the days of Pre-Cloud? ;)

      • Elan Gabriel

Because it’s not always the best tool for the job ?

Most of the time my friends specifically asks me to email them something, so they can never save it, and keep it in their cluttered gmail inbox forever.

Plus, it’s faster. With the current method I need to upload, go to the Skydrive app and share. With direct email, I can do the same but with only one step. (Theoretically, as it’s a non existing feature :) )

        • Juan Romero

But then you’re relying on your friends inbox to not bounce the email, rendering your upload useless, to which you would end up downloading the email again. Or if it does go through, your friend will then need to download that email himself.

On SkyDrive/Google Drive/Whatever, you can just select the file of your choice, click Share, Click Email, then send. GMail even includes a nice Google Drive icon next to its attachment button to make the process easier.

          • Elan Gabriel

What are you talking about ? Since when Xbox 1 uploads to Google Drive ? I love Skydrive, but no one I know uses it. All of my friends are on Google Drive (yeah, I know.. I must switch friends).

Also, I will never in my life upload and share a video without the other party specifically asks me to send them a specific clip. I hate sharing***. I don’t want to clog my Skydrive with redundant files I will never watch. So I’m not “relying on their inbox”, I send them what they asked me, and delete it. It’s their files, not mine. Why should I store it on my expensive storage plan ? :)

The share feature is nice for people who are into sharing. At most, I find a need to share something privately with a specific person for a very short period of time.

Having said that, it’s still a very cool and useful feature.

            *** I’m actually a nice guy, it’s just that I don’t like sharing things online :)

  • gamer04

really disappointing that we can’t live broadcast from twitch. but atleast this is something. It says without limitations, so this doesn’t use your skydrive storage space up?

    • Kieran

This is really poor from Microsoft, to allow Playstation to get that jump on them. I don’t understand why Twitch streaming isn’t there at launch? 2014 is months away. I guess people just have to wait, hopefully Microsoft can get it out earlier?

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

twitch is coming in early 2014.

  • WARLORD

    Ok so DR3 a 7, Crimson dragon a 5, I hope Ryse does better…

    • evilfangs .

What scores did Killzone and Knack get?

      • WARLORD

About the same 8, and 5. Im not comparing to the ps4 I just wont a good day one game, and hope Ryse dose good..

        • evilfangs .

Both Forza 5 and Ryse still have review embargo’s on them for some reason, that scares me as all other X1 titles had review embargo’s which ended yesterday.

          • Dylan

            I wouldn’t worry about Forza 5, I’m sure it’s good.

Ryse is lucky to be mediocre at this point.

          • beardyman3218

It just creates more hype having an embargo it prevents walkthroughs being posted prior to release ruining any excited you may have for a game, tbh i dont listen to reviews I do watch them but at the end of the day it some elses opinion its not fact and it doesnt mean you will have the same opinion, if i listened to reviews i wouldnt have played half as many games as i have and enjoyed them whilst playing. Area 51 to name just one.

          • evilfangs .

Forza 5 on Gamespot for 9.0 and 8.8 on IGN. I think that’s the best “next gen” review score I’ve seen.

            Still waiting for Ryse review.

I think that pinball or that two year old PS3 game scored the highest on PS4.

          • Dylan

I loved Area 51 on the Original Xbox, that game completely caught me by surprise

          • John Smith

I did as well, it was my fave online, esp w/the double shotgun…& the Midway level was fantastic w/the office building blowing up/falling apart.

        • Ivanx360xpira

I think y can still bet on DR3 if y like such genre. in my opinion reviews weren’t better just because visuals…but everyone said it is a lot of fun, and will provide hours of gameplay…

          • WARLORD

Yeah I have been kind of up and down with DR3. I could never get in to the old games. I’ll just rent it to see for myself.

          • Ivanx360xpira

Me too, but in my case it was because the save system…yeah I sucked in those games lol..played for 3hs, died and had to start again cause I didn’t find a bathroom or something to save my game…now it seems y can save anywhere/anytime, and then I’m good to go!

          • Nick Peck

I never liked the time limit of the originals as I love to look around, so with this not having that limitation I’ll enjoy it fully. Nothing has to be perfect but as long as the games are FUN, that’s all I care about.

        • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

          78 sounds good to me

    • EldritchWarlord

      Who’s reviewing?

      • WARLORD

IGN, game informer, GameTrailers, and so on

        • EldritchWarlord

I mean: who specifically reviewed the games and gave them the scores you are posting?

          • WARLORD

            GameSpot,
            Eurogamer
            GamesRadar
            Meristation
Post Arcade (National Post) and so on

    • paul rolland

Thats launch games for you, hence why its always best to wait for the Holiday after a console release, games will start looking next gen and the systems drop in value

      • Dylan

Wouldn’t the systems be up in value since there are more games available for it?

        • paul rolland

          Never seen a console go up in value ^^;

          • Volitar Prime

I think you are confusing “value” and “price”.

          • Dylan

The 360 was much more valuable in 2008 than it was in 2005, thanks to the boatload of apps and games that were introduced.

You sure you don’t mean cost? Because cost goes down, but a console’s value can go up depending on its library and support.

    • Roberto Merino

DR3 is a 78. which is pretty solid coming from metacritic, KI is a 73, Forza 5 will get about 80-90, Ryse, i suppose, will get something between 70-80. Not bad for launch titles, look at PS4 exclusives; KZ (68), and Knack (57)

      • WARLORD

True 78 ant bad but it ant the best ether. But that’s just reviewers what matter is whether or not I find it fun and worth the money. I was already up and down about DR3 because I could never get in to the old one’s and the reviews are not making me wont to run out and get it on day one..I’ll probably rent it…
P.s… KZ is (73) and Knack is (56)

      • Nathanzz

Gamespot just gave Ryse a 4 (out of 10). Ouch. Ryse sounds like Xbox One’s Knack. Forza, Killer Instinct, and Dead Rising are a decent start, as far as launch titles usually go, but it seems that both next gen consoles were rushed with incomplete OS’s and weak games and we’ll be waiting six months to a year for them to really start realizing their potential. Such is the plight of the early adopter.

    • slasaru

Crimson dragon is a shame. I played it on windows phone and greatly liked it, it was addictive. On the other hand if its the same on xbox, its ok with me

  • baconcheeswhiz89

funny video you did with boogie major lol

  • evilfangs .

Only two days left till X1 is released, so I guess we aren’t going to get a FAQ page?

    • Lucas Sanches Cestari

yes, it would be nice to read what xbox one can do, before it is released ^^

  • ElektroDragon

So much better than PS4′s ridiculous Facebook only video sharing, THANK YOU!

    • paul rolland

So much worst than my PC tho

      • rkm80

Go play on your PC then? Why even bother with console gaming forums?

    • Dylan

I thought there was a Twitch option as well

      • ElektroDragon

No, that’s for streaming. For uploading videos, it only does Facebook. Ugh.

  • Florida Tryhard

    only records 5 minutes….. PS4 does 15 minutes

    • Mitchell Hall

Who f÷%÷ing cares dude. . Go play a ps4 then with nowhere near the features xbox has or games or online community etc etc eetc ooh but it records 15 mminutes! whoopee ! ….

    • Does Not Equal

      That’s fascinating.

    • beardyman3218

In 2014 xbox can live stream to twitch for as long as you want. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame.

      • evilfangs .

Does X1 stream in 720p or 1080p on Twitch? I know PS4 only streams in 720p.

        • beardyman3218

i thinks its 720p as there no real need for 1080p for streaming plus you would need an upload speed of about 12mb.

My upload speed is about 20-30mbps which should be enough for 1080p streaming. Funny thing is my laptop is so old and full that I’m unable to watch 1080p videos due to my laptop not being able to handle it. Got the download speed to watch in 1080p just not the computer lol.

          • beardyman3218

Compatability is also another reason for supporting 720p streaming over 1080p far more devices especially tablets can run 720p with a better viewing experience than 1080p, my pc is capable of 1080p and i have the speed but i still choose 720p i find it more stable.

        FLOWER!!! 9.5 by IGN!!!

        • roozbeh, again

So the most highest rated next gen game is flower?

I’m sure I heard a few sighs right now

          • evilfangs .

PS3 games beating PS4 games. Don’t you just love it.

Even that Pinball arcade game beat most PS4 games.

          • roozbeh, again

I wonder what minecraft will get?

          • evilfangs .

Minecraft is going to be on PS4 first before X1 isn’t it?

          • roozbeh, again

Yes, because they are trying to make the savedgames from the 360 transfer to xbox one

    • rkm80

If that is important to you I suggest you go play, if they boot, with the PS4.

  • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

  • Fearhimself

I wish this was a joke or spam. But this is my life.

I’ve been fighting a Meningioma, a brain tumor for the past 3years now. Been in a wheelchair since 2010.

I had surgery in 2010, but part of the tumor is inoperable. I’ve had radiation to shrink it. It’s still there. I’ve been getting physically weaker over the years. I’ve had about 7 surgeries now. My tumor lead me to get Meningitis, which lead into Syringomyelia. All in three Years!

Throughout my sickness, besides my beautiful fiancée. My art and xbox was what kept my mind off of the things going on.

I lost my ability to play video games about 1.5 years ago. And in May, I lost my ability to use my laptop to draw. The 2 things I grew up doing, and was my “therapy” I cannot do anymore.

Though I can’t play, I continue to follow the gaming community. I am both sadden and ecstatic about the Xbox 1 launch. Sad, because I can’t play video games, and probably won’t be gaming for sometime… But, happy to see the new console! And to know Killer Instinct is back!!

To everyone getting an Xbox 1 on launch or later. Enjoy yourselves, have fun. Get an achievement for me.

To Microsoft and company. Congrats and good luck on November 22nd. Thank you for the good times. Hope to see you soon. GamerTag- Fear Himself

    • Dylan

      Thank you for sharing this.

Hopefully with all these twitch features, you can enjoy games in a different capacity, watching others!

      • Fearhimself

        That’s what I do now!

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

don’t give up, we will be gaming for you

Thank you guys for The messages of positivity. I know what I wrote might come across as it being fake, or some scam. Trust me I wish this was a lie.

I’m not trying to hit you up for money, or anything. Even though I have bills, and struggles that I have to endure with my family. I do need help like a great doctor or Batman! Lol. I’m still fighting!

This little hobby of ours to some, might be childish. Or doesn’t make sense to them. But, we know better.

I truly do want you to enjoy yourselves, with friends and family. Do not take little things for granted. Especially things that make you happy.

  • Chris Breseman

Here’s my observation, along with the obligatory follow up question. Each of these ‘how-to’ videos shows the participant(s) not 2 to 3 feet from their screens. That works fantastic, as it should being so close and at eye level with it. What happens when the screen is pushed back say to a normal 6 to 8 feet away and is slightly above eye level? Is that stuff going to work just as fantastic? Also I’ve noticed there is absolutely no background noise. What happens when you add in the everyday background noise? Is it going to work as fantastic?

    • Dylan

Polygon says 6 feet works fine.

Both Polygon and Kotaku say the Kinect only reads commands 80 or so percent of the time, and full titles need to be said in order to work.
Such as, “Xbox play Ryse” doesn’t work, it needs to be “Xbox play Ryse: Son of Rome”

      • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

do you know if the reviewer have the day-one patch ?

        • Dylan

No idea. Sounded like Kotaku had the beta version, and Polygon had the final.

          • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

i expect fast bug fix from microsoft on this one. they honestly did great on x360. All update were always well done. Friday is getting closer, i hope that ups guy will come in the morning

        • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

can’t i ask a legitimate question without having a stupid downvote. It is very important to know if they are having problem even with the first update or if we can hope for better performance with the day 1 patch

          • evilfangs .

Should just ignore the losers who always downvote.

          • Dylan

Yeah its lame, people downvote for no reason most of the time.

  • beardyman3218

Major Nelson can we have a FAQ please, I still don’t know the simple stuff about the console such as what sound it can output and how long it takes to fully charge the controller. Can’t wait till friday.

  • ae69ae

WOW! amazon had pre orders and I was able to get one after smashing the add to cart button :) no standing in line for me! LOL

  • ae69ae

Are the American Day One editions getting a free Xbox One game?

    • rkm80

Not that I’ve seen so far. I was thinking Killer Instinct was going to be the free game but no such luck.

    • Nick Peck

In all honesty MS has nothing to worry about in North America, they know they will sell extremely well here. As for Europe, it’s always a close race with sony so they did that to add some incentive on people getting an XBO is all.

      • evilfangs .

I think Microsoft have to worry about North America. One million PS4 consoles sold in 24hours in North America. If Microsoft aren’t scared and worried about that then they’re more arrogant then I thought.

That is the top selling console ever in only 24hours.

        • Nick Peck

I’m sure the XBO will hit that same number easily, they don’t have much to worry about imo. As long as they can keep the momentum going from here on out they will be fine. Arrogance has nothing to do with it, when you know you sell well in on place it’s less of a worry than some other places is all.

Of course that doesn’t mean you can just quit trying and they obviously haven’t done that, but have had to work really hard to get things back to where they needed them to be.

          • Ivanx360xpira

agreed…since E3 these guys from MS worked really hard (Major for example, the man traveled almost every single day!)…and I think they succeed. I don´t know if Xbox One will outsell PS4 just now but as a long term console it will…I also want to PS4 keeps doing good, competition is good for everyone…but I see PS4 as something nice but XB1 as huge playground…From the beginning MS told that XB1 would more than a gaming console, and I think the succeed showing everyone that is not a bad but a great thing!

  • MobileVortex

Amazon released some pre-orders today and i got one! ill be gaming with you guys day one!! now do i get ryze or NFS?

    • Nick Peck

Even if Ryse does good or bad I still want it as it looks like fun :D I like that type of coop MP too. I got my son F5 for his bday and he’s getting NFS from a cuz, so we will be covered for racers.

I’m more of a arcade racer type of guy as I plain stink at sims (plus I don’t put the time needed to really learn them as I only have so much these days). But I’ll have AC4, DR3, BF4, CoD on day one so I’ll be around :D

      • MobileVortex

Do you know if the co-op is split screen or will you need two xbones?

        • Nick Peck

I think it’s two systems but I’m not positive. Sadly two screen MP has gone by the wayside over the last few years in a lot of big titles. Oh for which game? Ryse? I was thinking DR3 for some reason. Not sure for Ryse, I’ll see if I can figure that out :D

          • MobileVortex

Yea ryse, im not that interested in DR3, at least right now. I just dont have any friends that are getting the console at launch id like to be able to invite them over to play.

          • Nick Peck

Yah I hear ya and I’m in the same boat “sadly”. I’ll reply back if I find anything.

          • Gazza!!!

Rise is only online co op unfortunately, no LAN support ether.

          • Nick Peck

^This, was just about to say that as I looked it up. that kinda sucks but not really surprising as games take a huge graphical hit with split screen play.

  • KellyNUTS

Anyone know how our gamertags will handle switching between XBOX ONE and XBOX 360 and vice versa? Will it be ok?
For the moment I only wanna play KI on XBOX ONE, but still have a heap of games to go back to on XBOX 360.

    • Nick Peck

Yah, you won’t have anything to worry about. You can actually be logged into both systems at the same time with your GT. You will continue to get achievements as normal (plus you can double stack same games between both systems, like say CoD:Ghosts).

      • KellyNUTS

        Awesome!! Thank you.

        • Nick Peck

          Np

  • Nick Peck

Been playing with the XBO Smartglass app and have all of my digital day one purchases pinned already :D As soon as I finish setup it will sync with the system. Pretty cool haha.

    • NarcoSleepy

That’s a great idea. Doing the same!

  • roozbeh, again

I’m sure this has been asked before, but I could never find an answer for it.

Can we change and or customize the voice commands?

    • MobileVortex

not at launch, im hoping this is something they will add later.

    • Dylan

      No.

In order to launch something you need to say a full name. “Xbox go to Ryse: Son of Rome”. Can’t customize it yet.

      • Nick Peck

I’m sure they will continue to refine it over time giving us more options on how we talk to it. It’s like everything, it will continue to get better.

  • xbox_gamer

    You forgot skydrive for desktop

  • evilfangs .

We still haven’t found out about sound output etc on the X1 but this video to me seems like the X1 has better sound then PS4

    watch?v=ZfaQu37OyEU

    • Nick Peck

From what I have gathered from reading everything that I could, the sound chip is extremely strong and has a lot of capabilities. Can’t wait to blast the soundbar on Friday :D

    • beardyman3218

Thanks for this evilfangs I still cannot understand why there has been no official word on this yet.

      • evilfangs .
        • Nathanzz

HDMI supports Stereo, 5.1, 7.1, and Dolby DTS. Toslink supports only Stereo and DTS.

        • beardyman3218

Thanks it describes the xbox one as being able to output uncompressed PCM sound in stereo, 5.1, 7.1, which is fantastic, and DTS over HDMI, its legacy support for toslink (SPDIF) supports uncompressed PCM in stereo and DTS 5.1 but no support for dolby over toslink. So optical dobly headsets wont produce surround sound not that they do a good job at it anyway.

          • evilfangs .

Everything is all good in the hood then with sound on X1?

I like have no idea about sound output and such. So long as I can hear sound clearly that’s all I care about lol.

  • evilfangs .

I know most of you would have seen this already but just in case some people haven’t. It’s a little walkthrough on how to use Kinect / dashboard etc

  • GmailIsDown

Hey Major, can you verify that we will get the same Day One bonuses that are shipped with Day One edition games, if we buy the games digitally within 2 weeks of this Friday?

Also, can the Xbox servers handle the traffic of people downloading Day One patch and games and stuff? Is there a link that we can download the Day One update beforehand? Sony’s server was completely overwhelmed even one day before release day as too many people were downloading Day One patch and games off PSN.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

exact same question in my mind

    • Nick Peck

He confirmed that several times already. I’m sure xbl will be fine, they have plenty of servers to handle the load. might slow a bit at the most (hopefully lol).

      • GmailIsDown

i thought he only said something like you would get preorder bonuses but he didn’t mention Day One bonuses i think. i know they are probably be the same thing but just want to make sure.

        • Nick Peck

You will get the day one items but have to purchase within two weeks (like you mentioned). You will get all bonus items expect store specific stuff unless stores allow you to buy digital codes and then still allow you the store bonus content.

But yes, you WILL get the day one bonus stuff with the digital copies. Trust me that was a worry I had for a long time since I’m generally all digital anyways. But he and a few other MS tweets confirmed this a few times some time back. No worries bud :)

Also, great name.. man gmail has gone downhill. Use that for work and I really wish it was easy to move over to Hotmail or an MS equivalent since I never have any issues with them.

          • GmailIsDown

Thank you for the confirmation. Glad you like the name :D

            I’ll get my console tomorrow!

    • MacPh1sto

      http://supportxboxcom/en-US/xbox-one/system/emergency-offline-update

There is a downloadable Day One system update that is available now that they’re calling the Emergency Offline Update (EOU). The only problem though is that you need to know what OS version your XB1 currently has to determine which update you need to install, since there are 2 different ones. But I guess you could just download both and then install the correct one once you have your console and have determined which current version it came with.

      • GmailIsDown

thank you! exactly what i wanted. i could not download them with google chrome but it worked using IE.

£551 well spent. Now I just need to pick my console and games up at midnight.

  • gamer04

this looks cool, but Microsoft please allow for more recording in the background and not just 5 minutes. I’d love to be able to change the dvr to record 15 minutes, and the xbox record that to record the last 1 minute to 5 minutes. I hope this is planned for the future.

  • Brady Nickell

Can anyone explain why it doesnt show the achievement on the screen when you record?
