if you use the HDMI pass through does anyone know if you can still watch TV with the xbox off or in a low power state?…in other words, does the xbox have to be full on every time I turn the tv on?

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

read instructions. doesn’t anyone do that anymore?

      • fastharryDOTcom

I didn’t want to open the sealed box before I knew that answer…

        • Liquidfx Xboxdude

          ahhh i see your point.

          • fastharryDOTcom

too late now, LOL..after reading reports of bad disc drives…and with my history of buying bad stuff when new..and figuring if it is bad I will have to wait for my GS to get another ONE in 2 weeks…..I had some guy off CK offer me 750 in cash…and I took it…

Think I will wait a few weeks and see how everything pans out..

          • Liquidfx Xboxdude

lol yeah its hard to pass up $250. I almost sold mine 2 but I got lucky and was able to get 2 more a couple of days ago thanks to amazon. made a little over $500 so basically I got a free x1.

          • fastharryDOTcom

I have a friends who is going to let me keep half the profit for taking time to sell his Amazon unit….so that will work out…and my GS already knows to hold the next unit for me so I should be good to go in a couple of weeks…..

      • evilfangs .

Instructions are way too small. Only thing I could see was the setup with the pictures.

    • Jason

I won’t have mine until this afternoon, but I am interested in this myself.
      Anyone?

    • WARLORD

Not working for me. Turn off xbox, and off goes the TV feed. Hope they fix this with an update.

      • fastharryDOTcom

thats no good….who wants to crank everything up for 5 minutes of watching TV?…

  • rkm80

Got mine last night and everything went off without a hitch. The only time I got worried was right after the update finished installing and the big green “Xbox One” screen popped up. It seemed to stick around forever…but finally the dashboard loaded and it has been a breeze to use. Best of luck to all of you getting yours today! I’m sure you’ll be fine.

    • evilfangs .

Yea that’s because it was booting up. Mine took forever and it will take a long while if you boot your X1 up from energy saving mode. It boots up fast if you have the option for instant on.

  • Steve

Anyone else try downloading ghosts, and have it stop at 44%. It’s been downloading all night and won’t move.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

      nope. just you.

    • evilfangs .

I haven’t got Ghosts but I have installed three games from disc fine and installed KI and Fifa 14 over the internet fine too.

      Might be the game?

  • Timothy Hames

Congrats on the Launch Xbox 1 Team

Heres to a new Generation of Gaming.

  • Arcona

Noticed no option for DD over HDMI. Although my stupid TV passes DD through the HDMI to its optical out, but blocks DTS for some reason. So could only do Stereo. but hey DTS is higher bitrate anyway, so I’ve just plugged my PS3′s optical lead into my X1 instead and set it to DTS over optical. Will have to set the PS3 to DD only, over HDMI instead now.

  • xbox_gamer

I didn’t see Sony congrat Ms like Ms did Sony. Am I correct or missed it?

    • WARLORD

      And I don’t see anyone caring.,….

      • xbox_gamer

        And why reply dummy

        • Shawn Springer

Actually, why congratulate MS??? The thing about it is that MS failed on all levels. Even now when you play your UPSCALLED game because NOT enough cloud computing can render the games at 1080p, all the games are now being released at 720p, 900.. What lies ahead in 3 years when more sophisticated games come out?? ITs already out dated. FAIL.

          • roozbeh, again

As if the ps4 isn’t outdated already either.

          • Kravex

Turn 10 released a game at 1080p, so if others didn’t what’s that go to do with MS?
You think every game on both consoles will be 1080p and 60fps? If you do you need a reality check.

    • Jason

      It happened. You missed it.

  • Steve

Call of Duty Ghosts downloads then restarts!!

  • evilfangs .

Anyone noticed that the “arcade” downloadable games are actually £15.99 instead of £15? That means we have to buy the £20 gift card as a £15 isn’t enough.

  • Nathanzz

It’s here! And the update is downloading very snappily.
That Kinect cable is even more woefully inadequate than I had thought it would be, though. Eagerly awaiting word from Microsoft that extension cables are in the works and will be available soon.
TV clips are also very hard to find at the moment, though the cable renders that point moot for now.

  • Shawn Springer

I havent gotten ANY answers from MS support or any info. WHY is the games not able to render at 1080p??? I cant just blow 500 down for the console, 60 for extra remote, 60 for a game just to have LOW substandard gaming console. All the games I keep reading about are now below the output at 1080p except FORZA but isnt the cloud suppose to give the xbox one all this POWER to do basic task?? You focused on making it a home gimmick then a gaming machine. Put bells and whistles to take our eyes away from what really matters. I am going to enjoy buying a PS4 and have 1080p NATIVE games. If you cant do that at launch, then what hope is for you 5 years from now??? Soon as the fanboys buy it up like Nintendo, then your going to have stagnant sales. Even the digital downloads are HIGH in prices. No savings what so ever. You cut out the middle man, you cut out delivery, shipping, manufacturing cost and then cant pass savings down?? Then a report on voiding warranty if we try to swap out the hard drive???? So its going to have to be high price hard drive add on later?

  • GmailIsDown

so i bought Forza 5 and Ryse digitally. i don’t see my Day One bonuses…

  • Kieran

I thought a USB wire is meant to come with the controller. To plug it in for wired play?

    • GmailIsDown

i tried to plugin a USB-mini (or micro? anyway they fit) USB cable to the controller and the controller to the USB port of my laptop. the control flashed for a few seconds and turned itself off.

  • xbox_gamer

Stil waiting until next year. For now playing games that don’t freeze or need patches, and aren’t the same thing over and over-Link between worlds 3ds and mario 3d wiiu and wiiu fit which finally uses the Camera. Ms has said updated newer xbox1 coming next spring. Then I get one

  • DavidinCT

Xbox one does not support 1080i ? Really ? The Xbox one does not work on my primary TV, This sucks, please fix this as ASAP…

    • GmailIsDown

it works on my 1080i TV, in 720p. but the picture is too big to fit on my tv screen, regardless of how i calibrate my tv. it does not matter in most games and apps but it is an annoyance that i cannot see some portion of the screen.

      • DavidinCT

At least you get in HD and a picture. I have a $531 paperweight and Microsoft Xbox support is helpless here. Yep, I get sound in 5.1 great !!

I just want to use my Xbox one on my HD tv…how hard is this, even the PS4 supports 1080i out of the box…

        • GmailIsDown

I remember I had similar issue when I first set up my 360 slim a few years back when I switched from using component cable to HDMI. I got no picture because the 360 automatically assumed 1080p when it detected HDMI. I had to hook it up with a compatible tv/monitor, go to the settings to change resolution to 1080i, and then bring it back to my tv.

on Xbox one I cannot seem to adjust resolution at all. It just says 720p in the console settings.

          • DavidinCT

Yea, there is HDMI (auto) setting, It will try to find the EDID of the Monitor being used (this what tells the device what the monitor supports) or you can set it to HDMI and select the type of monitor you want to use.

The Xbox one does not support 1080i in any of it’s settings. Sad to say, it does not work at all on my TV.

I wish they would adress or fix this ASAP. It’s wrong for Microsoft not to support the a US NTSC HD standard format.

This really sucks, I have a $500 console that I have been dying to get only to see it DOES NOT WORK WITH MY HD TV.

  • semtek007

Congrats on the launch… Now, how about putting out some official news about when the Xbox One launches in the rest of the world. I live in the Netherlands and have no clue when I can expect the Xbox One to arrive.
