Get Ready for Your New Gameday – The NFL on Xbox One is Here

With yesterday’s worldwide launch of Xbox One, you didn’t just jump ahead to the next generation of gaming – you’ve also entered into a new NFL Football viewing experience. The NFL on Xbox One combines live games, highlights, stats and your fantasy team together on the biggest, best screen in the house — your TV.

During a recent game, I put the final app through its paces – here’s what you can expect to experience beginning this weekend:

The NFL on Xbox One is now available.

Note: The NFL on Xbox One, including NFL.com Fantasy Football, requires advanced TV hardware, broadband Internet, Xbox Live Gold membership (sold separately) and an account on NFL.com. Additional subscriptions and/or requirements apply for some features, including NFL Red Zone. See www.xbox.com for details.

if I could afford the console I would definitely use that app all the time being a gamer and a huge Detroit sports fan.

  • Skrilla

Thank god I can keep that Kinect unplugged hopefully I can sell it on

    • Dylan

If it comes in the box, who would buy one?

  • Adrian Funk

if I could buy a Xbox One today (Release 2014 in Switzerland) and would live in the US, I would use this app …

  • Death Dealer

Looks good. Too bad it isn’t in Europe yet.

    • roozbeh, again

Regional sport, I doubt many in the states would want fantasy football (you know, the one in the rest of the world).

      • Dylan

You do know that London sells out about 3 NFL games at Wembley every year right?
And that there was an NFL Europe league for a while?

The NFL is growing and soon London will have a team. Having this kind of app over there will only grow their fanbase

        • roozbeh, again

          Good for them.

  • Rasmus Elmstrøm

Worldwide launch? funny, why not be honest? loads of people will not be getting their xbox one until next year….

    • baconcheeswhiz89

blame the douchebags who bought 50 of them and sell them for more on ebay.

      • HGamer

I think what OP meant was that, X1 is launching only in some selected countries. Not worldwide.

At least it’s not in Asia, where I live. :(

  • DarkMaturus

I love the NFL and Fantasy Football, so this is perfect. Does the app actually stream games?

  • Flawless

my comment got deleted cause i said i dont know anyone who uses the actual NFL site for fantasy? wtf?

    • roozbeh, again

      I think you are mistaken

      • Flawless

yeah it said it was awaiting moderation then it disappeared for hours so i figured it was deleted.

  • gamer04

Major, you said xbox one would support dlna as the xbox 360 does, to my dismay , you can’t browse media on your pc and stream it to your xbox one. you have to have windows 8, or an app that lets you go into your other room w/ the computer and say play to, then go back to the room your xbox one is in, and then watch. This really isn’t a solution. Please bring back the system video play that can do more than receive playto streams, but also can dlna browse my pc as before. Thanks for listening.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

i hope too they are working on something like that and it is just a matter of time. Play to and running from one room to the other is stupid. Play to is fine for cellphone that you carry with you anyway, but for PC, doesn’t sound like we are in 2013

  • Shawn Springer

First of all, this isn’t all that important. I love sports but a gaming machine for it is over kill. I can get all this from my phone, tablet! I heard that the KINECT is draining over 10 percent of processing power and that is why the games arent at 1080p!!!! Please fix this. I am getting my ps4 in 4 weeks and I see no reason to cancel it.

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

if it’s the only reason that you need to get a ps4, go get it honestly because it ain’t going to change anytime soon and those kind of argument/opinion have been told over a thousand time now, so people will just downvote you.

on a side note, i really like the x1, the launch was smooth, no downtime, fast download speed for patch, incredible stability, surprisingly fast and really amazing visual gameplay. I tried BF4 and no 720p isn’t ugly and i tested AC and it is the ultimate version for sure. The kinect work good. You can lean in BF4 using the kinect feature and this is a really nice immersive tool. You can also move your head in vehicule. Those two options are a welcome addition

  • Jason Lafitte

so how much of this app is blocked in Canada? do we get a dumbed down version?

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

hi, i’m in Quebec and i have access all the app so far. I didn’t test the NFL and HBO thing since i have no interest in them.

What i’m disapointed the most is not having the ability to access my PC file through a browser. Even my sound amplifier show me my network shared folder. the “play to” feature is a bit ackward. but that is for everyone

  • beardyman3218

Why is there no option for me to view my games saves and dlc on xbox one, how do i delete these if i need space? And where is the dlna support?

    • evilfangs .

You have to go to my games and apps then show all add-ons on the selected game to view what DLC you have for that game.

To delete DLC you have to go to my games and apps then show all add-ons then press menu on the DLC and uninstall it.

      • beardyman3218

Why couldnt they just add a menu like the 360 called memory were we can manage our game saves and dlc? Dont get me wrong i am enjoying the games on xbox one but the dashboard is just one big puzzle. The 360 dashboard was simple and effective it seems innovation is hiding stuff behind 3 lots of menus. I just hope they update the dashboard, do you know how to manage game saves? or if it supports dlna i cant seem to find the system video player?

        • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

i was looking for a similar option when i launch BF4 for the second time only to discover that my freaking campain was gone. I hate EA so much now

        • mcmax3000

It supports the ‘Play To’ functionality in Windows 7, and 8, where you can select something to play on your computer, and it will launch on your Xbox. As far as I know, that’s the only DLNA support it has right now.

(if I’m wrong, somebody feel free to let me know, because I run OSX, so right now, I have zero DLNA functionality as far as I know)

        • evilfangs .

The only place I’ve seen my game save is in the game it’s self. When I go to play AC4 and start the game / load it then gives me the option to delete saved game.

The dashboard is missing loads of decent stuff that was on the 360, it’s annoying as hell.

        • Nick Peck

The XBO manages everything for you, but I’m sure after they see a ton of people complaining about it, they will add in the “storage” support that people are used to with the 360.

  • Benny Janssen

Hey guys , i cant see my money on my Microsoft account when i am signed in on xbox one . When i am signed in on the 360 then there is no problem and i see my money . Can someone help me ? Thanks

    • mcmax3000

I haven’t seen a way, short of getting to the purchase screen for an item, that you can view your balance, but you can always login on billing.microsoft .com to find out what your current balance is in the meantime.

    • evilfangs .

You have to go into settings > payment and billing and it will show your Microsoft account and how much you have inside it.

  • Kieran

I don’t like it after you play someone on a game like FIFA 14, for instance. You can’t find his gamertag on xb1 and send him a message to say good game.

On the x box 360, the layout for finding people was much better.

Please Microsoft, put in a feed showing the people you’ve just played and their gamertags?

    • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

that’s true, i didn’t know if it was just me, but i have hard time finding stuff i could do easily on x360. recently played people, reporting people, and your friend list was easy to get, but i’m sure when we get use to x1 and voice command its gonna be even easier.

      • Kieran

Yes Microsoft needs to add a Bio option also, to describe yourself and your interests and location.

Also, i don’t use credit cards to buy stuff. Maybe Microsoft should introduce a code system. You pay for DLC and games in the shop, they give give you a prinited out code, and then you can download whatever you purchased by entering that code.

Entering codes is much easier now with Kinect. I have no way of buying DLC at the moment, because i don’t use a credit card.

        • evilfangs .

Buy a Microsoft gift card from any game shop to buy games and DLC. Gift cards are the new points.

When you buy in store it will be a QR code and a 25 digit code, but if you buy online it’s more then likely just going to be a digital 25 code.

    • Nick Peck

There is one, but you have to expect it to take some time to learn a NEW product.

  • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

why would you use optical. Optical sound is out of date and is definitly not the way to go, plus, the console come with HDMI so there is no reason to go optical. HDMI support 7.1 optical definitly support 5.1 not sure if it support 7.1 Technically speaking hdmi and optical will give you same quality

    • Michael Burden

For one, there is no audio lag in Optical unlike HDMI which puts it at a severe disadvantage on games like Rock Band and Rocksmith. Those games recommend analog or optical audio over HDMI for audio output. In that aspect it is far superior to HDMI. Also he (like myself) may be using an older audio receiver that does not have HDMI and only optical – even my projector doesn’t have HDMI so I had to use a HDMI-VGA converter, which works great I should add.

      • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

any recent amplifier take care of the lag. Those game also have manual calibration that get you rid of those lag. As long as everything is in sync, there is no problem at all to use one or the other. As for Eddi’s question optical offer dts output. I’m just trying to give him more info than he ask. He may not be aware of the game coming with an high-speed hdmi cable. So unless he got an old amplifier with an old tv, he can survive using HDMI output. If you think you can see or hear the difference between both output, well, you still can go the way you want.

edit: i understand about the purity of sound from analog when talking about vinyl recording because they are an analogue source. But everything you will put in your xbox is a digital source that may have been recorded on analog support, but i honestly don’t feel that anything that come out of the xbox box will be very different from hdmi or optical. If i’m wrong, then i’m happy to hear it !

  • beardyman3218

Is there anyway to hide your achievements on xbox one?

    • roozbeh, again

Can’t you delete game history if you haven’t gotten an achievement.

You might want to remember that if you did get an achievement on 360 you couldn’t remove that either

      • beardyman3218

I dont want to remove them just hide them.

        • roozbeh, again

Good luck, but I don’t think you can.

But what do I know, I don’t even have one :D

          • beardyman3218

Its ok i just found out how, you block the option, see your game and app history.

  • StudioMultimédia Gon’Interacti

bring a CFL application and i’m all in =) in Canada the Grey Cup is view more often than the SuperBowl. Both league deliver an amazing show =)

  • MrLouboy999

How do I sign out of my NFL account with the NFL app. I’m stuck with my wife’s damn fantasy info on my xbox one and its frustrating! I want to see my info for my fantasy team. I just wanted to show her how it works and be nice by using her account. First weekend with my new xbox and I only see her info and she could care less!

  • Jordan Konicki

Why in the hell is Xfinity(Comcast) not an option when trying to view RedZone through the NFL app? I’m sure it will be added in soon, but not having it at launch is a downer.

  • evilfangs .

You might get Xbox fitness, it might not be on the main games screen though. Go into games marketplace and search for Xbox fitness.

Same with some apps, go into the apps home and search for apps. I had to search for twitch and crackle apps as they weren’t showing.

    • Ben Schaab

I am stupid. I’ve not looked at Games marketplace. Thank you.
But still missing the NFL app.

      • evilfangs .

It might not be available yet in German. I can’t get it here yet in the UK.

  • BoA Wrath

Well after playing on the xbox one over the weekend in have some feedback which I hope can be looked into to improve the experience for all.

    TV integration
I have my Humax HD freeview box setup but connection sometimes does always work. Sometimes I get sound with no picture or picture with no sound and stutters. I can’t change channel or view guide which I presume is coming to the uk next year.

    Bluray player
Kinect responds well to Xbox play commands but lost patience with the Xbox pause command which worked once out of about 25 attempts before I reached for the controller. Kind of took the sheen of the seemless kinect integration.

    Party chat
Joining chat with your friends appears to put you in a group but you are unable to speak as there is an option in the party app which you have to active to allow chat, why isn’t this defaulted to on?

    Internet explorer
Would like some flash support so I can access my Google music all access account.

    Upload
Loving the ability to capture those game moments. Needs some more variety of options going forward, but it a nice touch I can upload to skydrive.

There are some gleams of the future here but still needs some polish.

  • evilfangs .

Does anyone know what the white light means on the Kinect? It comes on now and again but it doesn’t stay on for long. I know the three red lights are the IR.

  • John Lawless

Im hoping that majornelson can ensure that the advocate team are pushing to get the child account issue resolved ASAP.

    http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_one_support/f/4268/t/1626292.aspx

link explains in more detail the problem us parents are having.

    • Lucas Sanches Cestari

wow… that is something that they have to solve quick…

    • usrev

they should just remove child accounts. they are one of the dumbest things ever to put on xbox and parents.

the problem is, a child account cannot become an adult even with parents permission, so that child even at age 16 cannot do simple things like download demos that are RP (because few people rate demos)

all child accounts do is cause problems, parental controls are there, just allow parental controls from the master gamer tag on the system.
