Strider returns in a brand new adventure, complete with incredible side-scrolling action, and lightning fast combat all in a massive interconnected world! Download the full game now and become the original assassin!

We asked Capcom what Xbox One allowed them to do to bring Strider into the next generation of gaming, and they rattled off a list of visual enhancements: Native 1080P Resolution, solid 60FPS frame rate, SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion), higher-detailed character models, improved shadow map filtering, GPU calculated particles, and advanced lighting.

Arcade, Marketplace, Xbox One By Jeff Rubenstein

  • Flawless

did they ever explain why we’re not getting trials for the xbox one releases?

    • Colin Powers

+1 would love to see this in a future update. Seems a little silly to have to download the trial on XB360 to decide whether I want it on XB1.

      • Gunzta

Do you really need a trial now? With the GameDVR clips available for all games, you can get a very good idea of what a game is like from watching the game clips. It seems to me that a trail/demo is not as much of a high priority now. My guess would be that is what MS is thinking too. I’m sure trials will eventually make a comeback. Discuss. :)

        • Richard P.

Some of us would actually like to TRY the game not WATCH.

        • Anglophile

I know that gameplay videos CAN be longer than 15 seconds, but they generally aren’t, and you don’t get much context from those. I watched a few of the videos prior to purchasing and was expecting Killer Instinct with a storyline. Granted, what it turned out to actually be was far better than that.

      • mcmax3000

No need for an update. There’s nothing technically stopping developers/publishers from doing demos that would require an update.

    • Gazza!!!

From my understanding the obligatory trial/demo needed for arcade titles on the 360 has been removed as there is no ”arcade” games on the one any more. Its now up to the publishers/developers if they want to have a trial.

      • Flawless

guess theyll be losing alot of sales then cause unless im for sure on a game im not gonna even bother if theres no demo.

        • Wicker Man

Actually if you google for it you’ll find numerous articles showing that studies suggest game demos lead to lower sales. Why that is I’m not sure. But it appears to be the case.

          • usrev

because a demo lessens the chance of an impulse buy sadly. you are more inclined to play the demo 1-2 times and not need enough of the game to care, or you find out you don’t like it. the dumb thing about those studies though is they don’t take into account the fact that most people don’t know the demos exist. demos didn’t get much visibility on either console last gen.

      • ElektroDragon

Then why is there a PS4 demo?

        • Gazza!!!

Couldn’t tell you. All I knows what Microsoft said was the reasons they have no more mandatory trials on the One now.

          • ElektroDragon

But PS4 doesn’t require mandatory demos either, yet they have it. Oh well, I will try it on PS4 and buy it on the first next gen console that drops the price.

          • Gazza!!!

There is more to this, I’m keen to know why as well.

          • mcmax3000

It’s up to the developer/publisher now as to whether, or not there is a demo, so you’d have to ask Capcom why there’s a PS4 demo, but not an Xbox One demo.

        • KesMonkey

Because the PS4 is not an Xbox One.

  • evilfangs .

Looks like a decent game and it got a good review score ( not that review scores matter ) but I’ll still wait till price drop or sale, £11.99 for arcade games is far too much.

Also why did Xbox 360 get a demo but not Xbox one? Come on…. It’s the same god dam game on both systems.

    • Steven Ratty Ratcliffe

A demo is to much to ask when we have have only just a battery meter.

    • Senses Failed

There are no more arcade games, games are games now, also 1000 gamerscore. £11.99 is more than reasonable for a game like this

      • evilfangs .

“Xbox one and Xbox 360 arcade: Strider”.

Just because you can get an extra 800 gamerscore doesn’t justify an extra £2-5.

Also if there is no arcade why not release it physical so I can shop around and get it cheaper then Microsoft will ever offer it for?

        • Senses Failed

“Just because you can get an extra 800 gamerscore doesn’t justify an extra £2-5.”

We live in very different worlds my friend!

          • evilfangs .

Yea a world in which you feel some fake computer numbers is worth £2-5 real world money.

          • Dylan

            Bitcoin?

          • KesMonkey

You are willing to pay more money for more achievements? Good lord. Yes, we do live in very different worlds. Yours sounds weird, and a little scary.

  • Danny Hogan

11.99 for a arcade game no thanks !

    • ElektroDragon

      Except its not 11.99, it’s $15!

      • m1nh0ca

11,99 pounds, which is 20,02 dollars.

        • evilfangs .

It should be $20 but I bet it’s like $15 and like $25 in Aus.

  • Steven Ratty Ratcliffe

Wow. 1080p. Titan fall can’t even do that. Lol

    • etooley66

      Why is that funny?

      • Gazza!!!

Because he is 10 years old or visits IGN daily to join in on the 1080p bashing.

    • http://www.Soundcloud.com/Stream-Of-Consciousness Stream Of Conscious

And PS4 can’t even get Titanfall. Lol Lol Lol

      • fear

no need…. did try the demo and game ok but nothing great …..

so i might get it went it reach discount bin

    • Will Muscat

Amazing right? It even beat the 900p BF4 on PS4….

  • etooley66

WHERE ARE THE ARCADE DEMOS FOR THE XBOX ONE??? Is anyone at microsoft even paying attention to this??

    • ElektroDragon

You can try the arcade demos on the PS4, them buy then on the One if you prefer. That’s true for Strider at least! LOL

      • fear

why we should offer our $ to some ?%$&%? compagny who dont care about they customer… no thx…

        some got greatness await
us we got laziness await with MS

    • fear

they do…. they laugh they a** out to all of us now.. lol

  • http://about.me/chuck.yoder Chuck Yoder

Remember the good ol’ days when you could download a demo to see if a game was worth purchasing? Not having demos standard on the Xbox One has led me to halt buying games on the Xbox One.

Also, why no cross-buy between Xbox 360 and One versions? Seems like a perfectly good opportunity to offer that.

    • fear

they to greedy for that so keep dreaming…..

  • Gazza!!!

Will check out the trial on my 360 and if its any good I will purchase it on the One. A backwards way of doing things but seeing as there is no trial on the One what other choice do I have?

    • http://about.me/chuck.yoder Chuck Yoder

That’s what I did with Lococycle. Will also be doing with Strider.

    • evilfangs .

I might just start boycotting every arcade game that is released if it doesn’t release a demo with it.

I won’t be losing out, I don’t mind in the slightest if I miss out on a great game just because the developer decided not to release a demo for their game.

I’m going to start with this game on Xbox one, I’ll get it later this year on PS4 after I’ve tried the demo on PS4.

      • KesMonkey

There are no arcade games on the XB1, that is, there’s no distinction between arcade, retail, Games on Demand, whatever. They’re all just games. That’s not very helpful to you, but I just wanted to point out that the way things were on the 360 are not the way things are on XB1.

“I don’t mind in the slightest if I miss out on a great game”. Really? Don’t buy ANY games then. Trust me, you won’t mind in the slightest.

  • Anglophile

This game is great! It reminds me of Shadow Complex, which I suppose makes sense since both games get compared to Metroid and Castlevania.

  • ElektroDragon

They funny part is that the PS4 DOES get a demo for this. It’s just Microsoft’s silly policy of releasing as few demos as possible for the One.

    • http://about.me/chuck.yoder Chuck Yoder

Just confirmed on the Playstation blog. This just seems anti-consumer to me from either Double Helix or Microsoft.

      • ElektroDragon

        Ding ding ding!

      • Elan Gabriel

Ask Double Helix on their Facebook page about it

    • vai_levar_no_cu

Arcade games not having trial on the x1 is just idiot. Every game had one last gen, and now not?

      • KesMonkey

On the XB1, there’s no real concept of arcade games, or Games on Demand, i.e. there’s no distinction. They’re all just games.

    • fear

maybe they afraid we see 720p at 30fps …. who know!

  • Matthew Titelbaum

Would love to add the game trial to my Xbox 360 to my download queue, but I still can’t do that online without a credit card on file with my account. Please fix? This has been an issue since Microsoft Points were converted.

    • Flawless

yeah and once in a topic Major Nelson said he would look into it and get an answer of course it never came.

      • fear

and your surprise he never reply back… lol
that MS style…. alot of talk but no action.

  • http://www.Soundcloud.com/Stream-Of-Consciousness Stream Of Conscious

I am digging this game. Keep th new titles coming MS!

  • bill

I swear i bought this already when it was called Shadow Complex.
Is it much different? (i loved that game)

    • Wicker Man

The Strider franchise has been around a lot longer than Shadow Complex. Original was an arcade game that got ported to Sega Genesis way back in the day. But like SC this new Strider is said to have some Metroidvania elements. They probably did that to make it longer since campaign size is deemed so important nowadays.

    • http://instantnyc12.tumblr.com/ Terrence Boogie Monster

If you liked Shadow Complex and you’ve also enjoyed Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, not to mention the original Strider, you’ll greatly appreciate this.

  • Nick Peck

Anyone else stuck in Lower Transit Station? I honestly cannot find my way out lol. Looking on the map there is no way I can get out….hmmmmm.

  • Jeffery Frazier

just wait til the game is on sale. I now refuse to buy anything til then being they dont offer much and have to cut prices. no demos or anything just leave me with my two day one games

  • H3avyHitta

    1080p nice @ 60fps

  • H3avyHitta

    Nice 1080p @ 60 fps

    • Jeremy Shepherd

Who cares? Most people don’t have a tv big enough to even notice the difference. Every game I have purchased looks amazing and works great. Resolution is for the misinformed.

  • vai_levar_no_cu

Metroidvania gameplay is always welcome. Makes you wish Shadow Complex 2 were released

  • fear

No trial no sale Major. Just gonna try it and possibly buy it on the PSN.

  • King

For the blind, there is a link in the description for the trail, you have to blah blah click download trial and it will Download on your xbox 360.

  • Sanpei

    Is this 1080p ? Really…Wow

  • jam201984 .

Xbox one first game at 1080p hahah sort it out major crappy arcade game are not going to cut it

    • Senses Failed

      The misinformation is staggering

  • DavidinCT

Put it on sale for $9.99 and I will be all over it, I loved the NES version back in the day….Xbox one of course (need something new to play on it, the release titles are old now)

    • マリオ

It’s fun enough for me to consider the asking price. If nothing I want goes on sale this week then I’ll get it for $15.

  • Jeremy Shepherd

I would consider purchase if it had a demo.

  • WARLORD

Actually Cinematic reasons is a valid reason. You lose Cinematic feel when you go over 30fps. 60 fps is best suited for twitch based first person shooters and sports games.
