Roll on in to the Free World of Tanks Weekend

This weekend, World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition is open to everyone, allowing all players on Xbox Live to join Gold subscribers in massive, 30-tank battles. The World of Tanks Free Weekend is on now, with access open to all through Sunday, 30 March at 11:59pm Pacific.

This weekend event coincides with World of Tanks’ Map Madness Community Challenge, so know that each tank you reduce to a smoking pile of scrap will help the entire World of Tanks community unlock new battlefields to play on.

First thing i thought was: WTH? Free weekend for a F2P game? But if silver accounts also get access it makes a lot more sense xD

    • Silent_Killer01

Ms doesn’t understand what F2P truly means.

      • Jeremy Filth

        clearly

  • http://virtualgamemuseum.webs.com/ “Louis”

Any chance of playing tanks from “Girls Und Panzer”?

    • EldritchWarlord

If that show has real tanks from WWII then likely yes.

  • Barbara Frary

I love Xbox but am very frustrated at my inability to be able to initiate a download of a free game on the web without a credit card registered. I don’t need to register one I have almost $33 in my microsoft account (besides it’s a free game,I understand it’s still a purchase, but how about a simple if statment that checks if the price is less the account balance). For convienence, I almost always used to but it on the web and have them downloaded, why was that functionality removed? Two or three times I bought stuff on my credit card that I thought was going agaist the account, so I removed the credit card.

    • Hogwild333

I have the same frustration. I finally broke down and added a credit card because I wanted to buy something that was on a limited time sale and I wasn’t near my 360. When I went to buy the game it didn’t give me an option to use my points so it billed my credit card. Agh! I recommend standing firm and not adding a credit card. Microsoft really needs to fix this.

    • ElvisWolf

Just get your kids used games from the bargain bin to hold their pea-like attention span for an afternoon…if you don’t want your credit card on your account like, you know, the entire Xbox Live community.

      • Barbara Frary

I have no kids. This is my xbox. Your comment is meant to dismiss my valid concern and is not appreciated. There are many valid reasons not to have a credit card tied to the account and you dismiss them all because you don’t see a reason for it. I was out of work and had no money to spend on games, so I had no reason to tie a card to a service that might accidently get charged when I could least afford it. Especially since I had money in my microsoft account from gift cards I had been given.

BTW, the non-troll way to respond to my post would have been something like “I’m not sure why it is such a big deal not to have a credit card tied to your account”

        • Mr&Mrs Ninja

          YOU GO GIRL!

    • Some guy

Don’t worry, Major Nelson himself said he was looking for a fix… a year ago… yea it’s not going to change, especially now that they got a new xbone to chew.

      • Michael Burden

The problem has only existed about 6 months – since the conversion to real currency.

  • Bewafa

Well, I am certain this month’s GfG selection is just as horrible as last month’s. They haven’t posted it yet. Generally, thy post the next free wave of games for gold literally a week before promotion starts. But this time, nothing. Sigh!!

    • Michael Burden

Actually you would be incorrect, it typically is only announced a couple of days before the first of the month – the last two months’ were announced on the last day. Only the first couple of months did they announce the titles earlier. Feel free to look through the Major’s blog posts to verify what I am stating.

    • Gazza!!!

There is a source who releases the information but I can’t remember his Twitter handle.

    • Does Not Equal

I frequently make decisions in the absence of information.

      • Professor Oak

        Well that explains alot

        • Does Not Equal

It was sarcasm. Learn to recognize it.

          • Professor Oak

No, I know sarcasm, but I did not detect any in your comment.

          • ImTheMetalLord

I read it as sarcastic as heck. You need to go get a tune up on your sarcastic detection programming. I can offer you an inexpensive program that can handle that. **SARCASM** See how well my program can help you figure it out?

          • Jeremy Filth

It’s kinda hard to detect sarcasm on the internet with just plain words.

          • ImTheMetalLord

Like I said I have a program for that. If you are interested that is.

          • Does Not Equal

            You just contradicted yourself.

          • Professor Oak

            How?

  • http://www.kevin-fell.co.uk/ Kevin Fell

No hard drive space left to store this. Your priorities are in the wrong place. Juggling storage is a work around, not a solution.

    • Bewafa

      I agree

    • Jeff Randall

I agree as well. Xbox/Microsoft doesn’t seem to care. It is ridiculous that we can’t use larger drives. The situation is even worse on my Xbox One. They are so far out of touch with their consumers.

  • ImTheMetalLord

Means lots of noobs to kill. Kinda like a shooting range for tanks this weekend I see. Very interesting!!!

  • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

Still haven’t tried this game is it any good? Also does it have achievements?

    • ImTheMetalLord

Yes on achievements. I think it’s good. Like a third person shooter with tanks.

      • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

Thanks for the heads up, bro. Full 1000 gamerscore game?

        • ImTheMetalLord

No right now it’s 29 Achievements for 400 gamer points. But I think this is going to be like other free games where over time they add more. Full house poker just added some. In fact I just did some quick checking and it seems the free games all start out at 400.

          • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

Oh alright right on thanks for the info.. yeah on xbox one all games no matter what it is has a gamerscore of a thousand

          • EldritchWarlord

I think 400G is the new standard for XBLA games. I know Brothers and Mark of the Ninja also have 400G anyway.

          • ImTheMetalLord

Hmmmm so free to play games are being considered arcade games even though you download them from the “On Demand” section? Full House Poker is at 500 but I think they just added 100 with their addition of Challenges they just made.

  • Mr&Mrs Ninja

Great game but not good at it. Hopefully this weekend I can smash some noobs

    • X360

      Good Luck!
