Arcade, Demo, Marketplace By Jeff Rubenstein

  • Bennijin

I’ll probably trial it, but I don’t reckon I’ll buy it.

    US: $9.99
    UK: £7.99 ($13.43)
    EU: €9.99 ($13.82)
    AU: $13.45 ($12.49)
    NZ: $14.95 ($12.83)

    • evilfangs .

A arcade title for only £7.99? Has someone at Microsoft been listening to us.

      • Beluvius

Hmm, you can get Dustforce for PC for 1 $ (pay what you want) in the weekly Humble Bundle sale (and 4 other indie games on top) at the moment. So the Xbox version is by far too expensive…

        • Peter

Well for a newly released arcade title its fair at 10 bucks but this game DF has been around for quite awhile now and available much cheaper.

If it was 10 bucks when DF was new i’d grab it for sure but at this point DF for xb is more like a ehhh response. Can get this on pc for much much cheaper at this point.

        • Jan Václavík

If you are paying the minimum only to get few games for cheap, maybe the original idea idea of humble bundles is lost on you…

        • evilfangs .

I thought the idea of the humble bundle was to help support the developers by paying what you feel the games are worth? You may feel like you’re getting a good deal for only paying $1 for these games but if everyone did that then these developers would go bankrupt.

      • Bennijin

Clearly not since it should have been £6.75 tops.

    • ChinoM

These $10 games were £6.75 before, but MS raised the prices in EU for some unknown reason. Waiting for a sale or better will buy it for pc for $1-2.

    • xPutNameHerex

At least in the UK and EU cases, the difference can be explained by government taxes (included in their prices, but not in the US prices as all 50 states have a different sales tax). Once you get rid of the government take, the EU/UK prices are still more expensive, but only by $0.50-$0.90.

AU or NZ might be similar, although I think AU is due to increased minimum wage their compared to the US (US minimum wage is $7.50, while AU it is $14 or $15, so they earn more per hour and thus the game costs approximately the same per hour of work).

      • Bennijin

They’re more expensive than that. Also at the moment the tax is applied to the place the transaction is made to and not from although that may change as of next year.
Microsoft’s EU transactions are handled by Microsoft Luxembourg S.à.r.l. where the tax rate is 15%.

To be honest they should never have gotten rid of Microsoft Points. Worst thing to happen to the marketplace.

  • Beano

I would buy this for $1

  • Professor Oak

Hopefully, we will get Games from Genres we have not gotten yet for GwG May:
    Fighting and Racing.
    My hopes for Fighting:
    1. Injustice: Gods Among Us (Games on Demand)
    2. Marvel v. Capcom Origins (Arcade)
    3. Mortal Kombat (any of the older ones)

    • Does Not Equal

      Thanks for sharing.

      • Professor Oak

        You’re welcome

      • Professor Oak

Love how you edited, then Deleted your comment that read “Thanks for your Opinion”

      • Peter

If your referring to Marvel CO yeah its one of those games thats been pretty firm and stubborn at staying near its original price.

    • http://instasynch.com/rooms/asstube AllRacesAGAINSTNIGGERS

      2. Marvel v. Capcom Origins (Arcade)

This is what I want, because I refuse to pay for it.

    • digitallife

Expect Tomb Raider, almost every rumor i’ve read seems to be pointing at some sort of older tomb raider and skulls of the shogun as the one on the 15th.

      • Gazza!!!

I’m calling ‘Dust: An Elysian Tail’ as one of the free games ;)

        • IN_YO_FACE_86

          That is a great game.

          • slasaru

I don’t think so. It lacks something, I cannot remember what, though. But feels incomplete and cheap

          • Clattus

…..or it’s just great having actually played it ;)

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

so you like fighting games but you don’t own those you mentioned? fighting games are niche at best.

      • Professor Oak

I own a few, UMvC3, MvC2, Mortal Kombat(newest one), Soul Calibur 2 HD, 4 and 5. And I would like to get more

  • Beano

I like sweeping. But I don’t pay $2 to sweep.

  • digitallife

I feel like MS should be buying these games from the devs and packaging them with xbox live memberships. Some of these arcade games do not warrant their price point, either that or remove taking your 30% out of the equation so we can get lower price points. I’m all for giving MS as much of my money as they can handle but only when i’m getting something for a reasonable price.

  • Jeremiah Boeninger

I’d buy it for the One. Not gonna get it for the 360 though.

  • Currentlyme

Since I sold my xbox 360 to get an xbone this just feels like a joke. So what was the point of getting an xbone?

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

it sux but at the same time we all knew that next gen wasn’t going to be backwards compatible.

      • Peter

Agreed. Besides lets be honest it wouldn’t have been in MS’s interest as it would cost ms time and money that they probably feel isn’t worth it to them financially. This being the same company shoehorning in kinect at an extra 100 we don’t want and purposely gimps the 360 external drive limit

MS isn’t stupid when it comes to money.

    • Shakeslikecrazy

Everybody knew the Xbox One wasn’t backwards compatible at launch. It was supposedly “backwards” according to that pompous Don Mattrick, when it can facilitate an easier transfer to the next generation and help retain customer loyalty to a certain degree.
I hope they fix this problem with a second model that is BC down the line.

    • Some guy

The point of the Xbone was always to watch TV, what did you expect? Video games? Good customer support? We stopt having these years ago.

    • Beano

What a terrible decision you made.

    • Volitar Prime

There are something like 15 XB360s in use for every XBOne out there so
it isn’t surprising that developers are still making games for the
larger market. This is a problem that MS mostly avoided when they
transitioned from the original XBox to the XB360 by pretty much cutting
off all publishing to the Xbox when the new system came out. This time
around they didn’t do that and are attempting (and failing) to support 2
systems at once. This is a problem that all other gaming companies
have had to deal with, mostly with limited success too. The more
popular a system is, the harder it is to transition away from it to a
new one. The companies that have the most success in this kind of transition are ones that are coming off of the less popular system, which is where MS was when they transitioned from the original XBox to the XB360.

    • Colin McGregor

That’s your own fault for selling your xbox360 before the xbox one has a stronger lineup. There are literally tons of websites with game release dates. Should have checked them first instead of whining on a website.

      • IN_YO_FACE_86

Yeah I really did not understand when some of my friends just up and sold all of their 360 games.

        • slasaru

I have about twenty or more unfinished 360 games. Do not see a reason to sell it. Some games like Bulletstorm have better graphics than nextgen Dead Rising.

        • Peter

People actually sold their 360′s its their fault. It was well known that the 1 wouldn’t be backwards compatible. So its not like it was secret. Also there’s always a drought of games each new gen until it picks up.Not even sure what kind of mentality deludes themselves into thinking there will be a flood of games shortly thereafter release.

Right now theres like what 30 games or so in the last 6 months. Trust me its not that bad considering. Unless your one of those gamers who literally sits down and plays through games as fast as possible. My backlog of x1 games coupled with the 360 only a moron would sell has me settled for quite awhile

        • Beano

Let’s face it: a lot of people are not that bright. This is THE TIME to go deep on 360 and PS3. Tons of cheap, awesome games. Still looks damn fine to me.

    • Jan Václavík

Whats the point of getting Xbox One? How about playing Xbox One games?
If you want to play 360, PS3 or WiiU games, maybe consider getting one of those systems instead.

  • Guest

Sorry for the (mostly) double post. This was intended to be a response to Currentlyme so I attempted to delete this one but for some reason it is still here.

    • slasaru

They don’t need to skip to another market immediately, it’s different this time. And the money with 360 can be made for another three years.

  • DaveF

A game about cleaning. Fantastic. What’s the next GWG?

  • Kieran

I would change the packaging for the xb1 the green boxes look cheap on store shelves. Titanfall consoles would have sold like hotcakes too the design was really attractive!

Reduce the price to make it affordable for kids with no jobs, keep kinect. Offer deals to pay off the console every month, make the interest on it very low.

360 games been played on xb1, will help the xb1 sell better.

x box live doesn’t look great compared to PS plus. Gamers get better games for free on there.

I would port games from the PC to x box 1.

mouse support for pc games on xb1.

    • Death Dealer

Reduce the price for kids? Seriously? I’d think people would be quite happy with less kids on Xbox Live yelling all kinds of stuff through their headsets.
Now I can agree with most of you that the price of entry for the Xbox One is high and that it needs to drop to match the competition.
Someone here mentioned that digital codes to games also doesn’t feel like added value, I could relate to that. But MS is making quite a lot of money at the moment and I wouldn’t expect them to want to become a loss leader just so it can just attract kids. Ms will shift more units when they launch in the second tier countries in september
I agree with you on backwards compatibility, but it’s not easy because of architectural différences and will increase the price, when you just asked for a decrease.
Games with Gold has a different approach to PS+. Why? Because MS doesn’t want to aid in the devaluing of the games industry were people just wait for it to appear on a rental service and don’t have to buy their games anymore. PS+ doesn’t give anything for free, you don’t even own a license for the games you rent on there.
Porting PC games is already possible for Xbox One with the unified code base and KBM support, well yeah, it should happen soon, hopefully.

      • Brian Ghattas

Yet another lemming who uses Sony’s financial woes to feel better about his buyer’s remorse. You know Microsoft’s investors want Microsoft to drop the Xbox brand altogether?

Just another little kid who gets erections from Console Wars and has not had any relationships with women because he would rather play video games.

  • Kieran

I would also bring out directx12 for xbox 1 sooner than 2015, to bridge the gap in power between the two consoles. PC gamers can wait till 2015 as they buy superior hardware anyways in the meantime.

Sony fans doubt the x box 1 can do cloud gaming, Prove to them and potential buyers , the cloud can make games run better. xb1 game using cloud for game physics is the only thing they’ll pay attention to.

    • Death Dealer

Sony fans prove time and time again that they are not really gamers and are just people without a life hanging around the internet all day long to talk trash on the competition who’s raking in money when their company is dying a slow and painfull death, even with the PS4 outselling the Xbox One.
DX12 already has samples running on the Xbox One for certain developers, the final version will be released simultaneously for both Xbox One and PC at the end of 2015, so possible benefit will already be coming a lot sooner on the Xbox One side.
Cloud has one downside, bandwith. It’s why MS won’t go big on it yet. We’ve seen lighting models with up to 200 ping working nicely, but to downstream a 1080p image at 60fps continuously we need a good pipe and MS knows this is not avaiable everywhere, not even in the 13 launch territories. Now there are algorithms to gradually decrease image quality depending on it, but then you’d have to ask the question, is it even worth it?
What MS is doing now with dedicated servers calculating almost everything is the most logical approach until MS is sure that their customers can downstream all the bits and bobs.

      • roozbeh, again

I wouldn’t say fans, fanboys would be more appropriate.

        • Death Dealer

Alright, hereby corrected to fanboys. Jim Sterling made a terrific argument about them being the worst kind of people some time ago and the argument still stands like a rock.

    • usrev

dx12 isn’t going to radically change xbox one graphics neither will “the magic cloud”. I wish people would stop buying into marketing bs and think for themselves. do you really think you can download real time physics info? cloth simulation? Bullet drops? hair simulation? all of that is real time so downloading it from a server probably wouldn’t work very well.

dx12 might improve a few things but it’s not like suddenly the xbox one will run everything in 1080p 60fps. it simply cannot be done on the hardware unless they find ways to compress frames to about 1/3 of their current size.

  • beardyman3218

When is the next update for xbox one coming out? Please tell us what its going to include there are tons of features that need to be added. DLNA streaming of music and videos not using the xbox music or video app it needs a system video player, external hard drive support, blu ray 3d and the ability to remove followers or an option to completely disable the ability for people to follow you.

    • Death Dealer

Agreed. I’d also like Achievements to be able to snap as I dislike it that I have to open a separate app to watch them when they pop up (it should use snapped mode when in a game so you can just continue playing) and the external hard drive support better not have limitations like I’m hearing.

      • evilfangs .

You can’t continue playing though when something is snapped because the controller inputs go to the snapped window. You would then still have to unsnap the achievement screen which 90% of the time would require you to go to the home screen anyway.

        • Death Dealer

Yes, but can default it, that you just press B and it goes away again. It’s faster that way. Now it’s just so slow, it’s slower than on the Xbox 360.
A system menu in snap mode (that loads all kinds of apps in snap within it) could be so much faster for all kinds of things than having to load a separate app fullscreen for everything.
Right now the interface is poorly optimized TBH.

        • yassine db

That is not correct Evilfangs, you can continue playing your games no matter what is snapped on your screen. Just double tap the XBOX button on your controller, or say “Xbox Switch”.

          • evilfangs .

Yea but if the snapped screen pops up while you unlock an achievement it automatically goes to the snapped screen. Making it pointless for the achievement to snap as you still have to unsnap it to continue playing unless you want to double tap the guide button and play with 1/4 of your screen taking up by the achievement.

Having the achievement pop up in snapped doesn’t make it any faster then being taken to a completing new screen and having to return to your game from that screen.

You would still need to hold the guide button for the achievement to snap or go to the achievement page, unless you make it automatically snap the achievement. You would still have to go to the home screen to unsnap the snapped screen just like you do when you want to go back into your game from the achievement screen.

          • yassine db

Well, i’m just correcting your statement. Misinformation is a very bad thing, when you are not sure no need to comment. Anyways, nothing to see here, #jumpahead.

          • evilfangs .

Well I knew you could double tap it to continue playing ( I gave this tip back in November / December to people here on the forums ), however I was talking about the achievement being snapped then continue playing, as you would need to double tap the guide button or unsnap it which isn’t faster then what we do now. Obviously I could have worded it better.

          • yassine db

Another wrong information is: “You would still have to go to the home screen to unsnap the snapped screen just like you do when you want to go back into your game from the achievement screen.”
That is also not entirely correct, because “Xbox, Unsnap” would unsnap the snapped screen without going back to Homescreen.

          • evilfangs .

“You would then still have to unsnap the achievement screen which 90% of
the time would require you to go to the home screen anyway”

I thought it was clear enough by the 90% of the time I meant that 10% the Kinect voice control would work.

Maybe when you’re around I should put full 100% information on every single sentence I make.

          • yassine db

be specific next time please, most of us are noobs, and easily believe what we read on forums.

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

that one pic of larry with the atari cartridge is awesome.

    • Some guy

Question: What will they do with all those games?
      Doubt anyone would buy them.

      • Gazza!!!

As its a landfill site I imagine most will be left to rot.

        • Some guy

That’s an incredible waste of money then.
They could at least reuse the site to bury unsold xbones.

        • Death Dealer

It would be awesome if some of them would still work, but I highly doubt it.

          • Gazza!!!

I don’t know. A quick blow underneath old school style and they might work like new.

          • Death Dealer

            Haha, they just might

          • Professor Oak

Also, I think some of them were even shrink wrapped. So they might still work

      • Fred

I bet if they put them up on eBay with some kind of certificate they’d get sold pretty quick. There are a limited amount, so it is a real collectors item.

  • Fred

So verdict on this game from people who bought it?

  • Clattus

Wow, no review for the actual trial or game? People must be lonely or have the attention span of an insect.

Played the trial. Control is a little off and the four characters that you can pick from appear to be all the same. Not even remotely worth the cost imho.

  • Mr&Mrs Ninja

I rate this game 5 out of 10. It just bored the heck out of me I’m sorry…. : (
